Definitions

  • the present invention relates to mechanical alarm clocks which include a mechanism for displaying the waking hour over twenty-four hours.
  • the present invention more particularly relates to such mechanisms for displaying the alarm time.
  • Watches equipped with an alarm function and including a mechanism for indicating the alarm time are known. Most of these timepieces have a bell that sounds every twelve hours and whose ring time is indicated by an additional hand. The alarm time can be adjusted by moving the hand around the dial using the time-setting bar. A disadvantage of such timepieces is that it is not possible to set the alarm time more than twelve hours in advance.
  • the patent document GB1397982 describes a timekeeper with an adjustable alarm twenty-four hours in advance.
  • the dial of this timepiece has an additional graduation that divides the circumference of the dial in twenty-four hours.
  • An alarm needle cooperates with this graduation to indicate the selected alarm time. It is therefore possible to select the ring time up to twenty-four hours in advance.
  • This prior solution also has some disadvantages.
  • the division of the dial in twenty-four hours instead of twelve is unusual and can be confusing. Under these conditions, handling errors caused by a poor reading of the waking time are possible.
  • indicating the time of waking with a single hand associated with a dial with a large number of divisions does not allow to set the alarm time accurately.
  • the patent CH510906 discloses a timepiece alarm indicating and triggering device using a twelve-hour dial but triggering only every twenty-four hours. This characteristic is obtained thanks to a cam moving intermittently every twelve hours to activate and deactivate the buzzer once in two. A colored mark visible through the dial indicates whether the bell will sound for the next twelve hours or for the next twelve hours.
  • the solution proposed by this prior document overcomes some of the disadvantages listed above. However, the direction of the colored mark is not obvious for a neophyte, and it is doubtful whether a person can understand the principle of setting the ring time without the help of a user manual.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide an alarm clock comprising an alarm time indicating device which can be set up twenty-four hours in advance and whose reading is as obvious as possible.
  • Another object of the present invention to provide an alarm clock to adjust the waking time with great accuracy.
  • the present invention provides an alarm clock according to claim 1.
  • the alarm time display means includes a traditional twelve hour display. Such a display reads effortlessly, which limits the risk of error when selecting the alarm time. On the other hand, selecting the wake-up time using a minute hand in addition to the hour hand provides a more accurate setting of the wake-up time.
  • Another advantage of the present invention is that, contrary to the distinction between “the next twelve hours” and “the next twelve hours” proposed in the patent. CH510906 the distinction between morning and afternoon or evening is a usual distinction which is understood without effort.
  • the AM / PM displays disappear when such a display is used to indicate an alarm time.
  • the possibility of being able to select a time in a twenty-four hour period is an indisputable advantage when the time is a waking hour.
  • the wakeup time is a static indication that changes only when the wearer of the watch selects a new waking time.
  • the mechanism for indicating the alarm time according to the invention is therefore not driven by the movement of the watch. This mechanism does not consume mechanical energy.
  • the watch in which is integrated the mechanism according to the present invention comprises at least two separate dials. One of the dials being provided to display the alarm time and the other dial being provided to display the present time.
  • the present description begins by presenting a waking mechanism of the prior art with reference to FIG. figure 1 .
  • the movement represented in the figure 1 comprises a plate 10 in which a minute barrel 12 coaxially rotates, an hour barrel 16 and a central shaft 18. These concentric axes respectively carry the minute hand 13, the hour hand 17 and the second hand 19 These hands are intended to indicate the time in a usual manner on a twelve-hour dial (not shown). To do this, they are driven by the movement in a manner known to those skilled in the art.
  • the partial view of the figure 1 shows only the timer train, formed by the wheel 11 and its pinion 14, and designed to kinematically connect the minute gear 12 to the hour wheel 15.
  • the watch further comprises a not shown striking mechanism and a triggering mechanism.
  • This mechanism comprises a pinion 21, driven coaxially in the pinion 14 of the timer, and engraining with a wheel 22 which is mounted idle on the gun hours 16.
  • the gear ratios are calculated so that the wheel 22 is driven by a turn in twenty-four hours by the movement.
  • the board of the wheel 22 comprises three lugs 24 arranged at unequal distance from the center of the wheel and angularly offset relative to each other.
  • the trigger mechanism further comprises a trigger wheel 26 mounted to friction in the axis of the needles and therefore coaxial with the wheel 22.
  • the barrel of the wheel 26 carries a wakening hour hand 29. This needle is intended to cooperate with additional indications (not shown) defining around the dial a turn of twenty-four hours.
  • the clock watch further comprises a winding crown and setting time (not shown) for setting the time and the movement of the waking needle 29.
  • the switching between the function of setting the time and that of movement of the waking needle can for example be operated using a pusher (not shown) whose function is to engage the trigger wheel 26 and a return, him - even driven by the sliding pinion (not shown).
  • a pusher not shown
  • Such a mechanism is described in particular in the patent CH261676 .
  • the wearer of the watch can rotate the trigger wheel 26 by rotating the winding crown and setting the time. Thus, it can bring the waking needle 29 to a position corresponding to the desired waking time.
  • the trigger mechanism of the figure 1 works in the following way.
  • the plate of the trigger wheel 26 is pierced with three openings 25 provided to cooperate with the three lugs of the wheel 22.
  • the ringing trigger 23 continuously plates the wheel 22 against the trigger wheel 26.
  • the three lugs 24 of the wheel 22 are in front of the openings 25.
  • the lugs can enter the openings 25, this which allows the wheel 22 to be pressed against the trigger wheel 26.
  • the hour wheel 15 accompanies the wheel 22 in its upward movement, which allows the ringing trigger to switch and release the ringtone.
  • the figure 2 is a partial sectional view of a first embodiment of the present invention.
  • the mechanism for displaying the current time and the striking mechanism are identical to those described in relation to the figure 1 . That's why the part of the figure 2 concerning these mechanisms is taken from the figure 1 .
  • the elements referenced 10 to 26 are found in both figures with the same reference numbers. The function of these elements will not be described a second time.
  • the barrel of the trigger wheel 26 carries a wakeup hour hand 29 provided to cooperate with a dial turn of twenty-four hours.
  • the wakeup time hand 29 is replaced by a wakeup time display mechanism in accordance with the present invention.
  • This mechanism (generally referenced 30) includes a second hour gun 32 and a second minute gun 34 provided for pivoting coaxially around an axis off-center with respect to the dial above which the needles 13, 17 and 19 rotate.
  • the guns 32 and 34 respectively carry a hour hand 33 and a minute hand 35 intended to indicate the time waking up on a second twelve-hour dial (not shown).
  • the hour hand 33 and the minute hand 35 are kinematically connected by a timer wheel so that the minute hand completes exactly 12 turns for a turn of the hour hand.
  • the timer train comprises a wheel 38 and pinion 37 which engrain respectively with the minute gear 39 and the gun wheel 36.
  • a mobile formed of a wheel 41 and its pinion 42 connects the trigger wheel 26 to the timer wheel 38.
  • the needles 33 and 35 are kinematically connected to the trigger wheel 26.
  • the gear ratios are calculated so that the hour hand 33 accomplishes exactly two turns for each turn of the trigger wheel 26.
  • the wearer of the watch rotates the trigger wheel by actuating the winding crown and setting the time (not shown), it also turns the needles 33 and 35.
  • the wearer of the watch modifies the wakeup time displayed by the needles. With this feature, it avoids any risk of occurrence of a discrepancy between the indicated wakeup time and the actual trigger time of the ring.
  • the gear just described must be properly initialized so that the trigger wheel 26 and the needles 33, 35 match.
  • the figure 3 is a perspective view from above showing the trigger wheel 26, as well as the pinion 42 and the wheel 41 which connect the latter to the needles 33, 35 for displaying the alarm time.
  • the wheel 26 also carries a cam hereinafter AM / PM cam and referenced 44.
  • AM / PM cam is formed by the juxtaposition of two halves having hemicircular profiles of different diameters. At the junction between the two halves, referenced 44a and 44b, the profile of the cam has two more jumps.
  • a lever 48 is provided to cooperate with the cam 44. As can be seen, this lever is formed of a horizontal arm 49 and a vertical pivot 50. The upper end of the pivot 50 emerges from the dial (not shown) and carries a Needle AM / PM 52.
  • a spring (not shown) is still provided to return the lever 48 against the control surface of the cam 44.
  • the AM / PM cam 44 is integral with the trigger wheel 26, so that a complete revolution of the cam corresponds to two turns made by the hour hand 33. Under these conditions, as the two jumps are separated the by one half turn, the lever 48 meets one of the two jumps exactly once per revolution of the hour hand 33.
  • the cam 44 can therefore be adjusted angularly to the trigger wheel 26 so that that the meeting of the lever 48 with one or the other of the two jumps always coincides with the superposition at 12 o'clock of the hour hand 33 and the minute hand 35.
  • the hand AM / PM 52 carried by the lever 48 is provided to indicate whether the alarm time displayed by the needle 33 and 35 is between midnight and noon (AM) or between midday and midnight (PM), it will therefore be understood that the needle AM / PM 52 switches from one indication to another each time the lever 48 encounters one of the jumps.
