Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an alarm control mechanism comprising a bell triggering device, a rotary hour cam having a radial recess, a cam follower substantially radially against the hour cam and capable of actuating the trigger of ring by its movement, and manual means for setting the alarm time, arranged to adjust a relative angular positioning between the hour cam and the cam follower.
  • awakening is meant not only the ringing system in timepieces called alarm clocks, but any device producing a signal (also called alarm) at a time preselected in any timepiece, including a watch.
  • the usual waking control mechanisms for example as described in the patent document GB 1397982 , comprise two coaxial wheels having between them a front cam system, so that at the waking time one of the wheels moves axially towards the other and thus allows the triggering of the ring.
  • the main drawbacks of these mechanisms are their relative inaccuracy of the instant of the trigger and the problems of rearming the system so that it rings again 24 hours later without having to be rearmed by a special action of the user.
  • the present invention aims at creating a wake-up control mechanism which makes it possible to avoid to a large extent the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art, in particular by limiting the overall width of the mechanism, for example in order to be able to integrate it into a movement watch with great complication.
  • a particular goal is to create a type of mechanism that can be supplemented, if necessary, by a minute cam to more accurately determine when the bell will sound.
  • a particular embodiment of the invention should make it possible to sound the alarm a second time a few minutes after the waking time.
  • the driveline from the waking hours cam to the trigger wheel is concentrated in a compact group of coaxial wheels, which can be carried by a common shaft and occupy a reduced planar space. Since the setting of the wake-up time acts on the programming wheel and not on the hour cam, there is no more frictional transmission between the watch movement and the hour cam, so that all mechanism can be positive drive.
  • this group of coaxial wheels may also include a cam of the waking minutes.
  • This cam is driven to make one turn per hour, and has at least one radial notch.
  • the cam follower has a second finger provided to press against the minute cam.
  • the wake up control mechanism shown in the figures 1 and 2 comprises a group 1 of coaxial wheels comprising, from top to bottom according to the figure 2 : a wheel hours 2, provided with a cam hours 3; a trigger wheel 4 provided with a circular outer toothing 5 and a pinion 6; a programming wheel 7 carrying a cam follower lever 8 and a cam am / pm 9; a retaining disk called surprise 11 and provided with a spring 12; and finally a minute wheel 13 provided with a minute cam 14. All the wheels of the group 1 are traversed by a central bore 16 to be freely rotatably mounted on a shaft so as to be able to rotate each about a common axis 17 which is perpendicular to the plate (not shown) of the watch movement.
  • the hours 2 and minute 13 wheels are connected by a gear having a transmission ratio of 24/1 and including the timer wheel 20 of the analog display of the current time of the watch.
  • This mobile 20 comprises a wheel 21 meshing with the wheel 13 and driven as usual by the clockwork movement, so that the wheel 13 makes one turn per hour.
  • the mobile 20 further comprises a pinion 22 connected by two return wheels 23 and 24 to the hour wheel 2 so that it makes a continuous turn in 24 hours.
  • the position of the cams 3 and 14 represents the current time displayed by the hands of the watch, with additional information (am / pm) since the cam 2 determines the time over 24 hours instead of 12.
  • the elements of group 1 are represented in transparency.
  • the outer teeth of the wheels 4 and 7 have substantially the same diameter and therefore merge in the plan view.
  • the toothing of the programming wheel 4 meshes with a not shown pinion, integral with a wheel 26 forming part of the manual means 25 for setting the wake-up time.
  • wheel 26 is part of a timer mobile of the analog display of the waking hour, comprising a minute hand, an hour hand making a turn in 12 hours, and an am / pm indicator controlled by a probe 27 which bears against the periphery of the cam 9 fixed to the wheel of hours 2.
  • a ringing trigger 30 is formed by a lever carried by a pivot 31.
  • a rake 32 located at one end of the trigger 30 meshes with the toothing 5 of the trigger wheel 4.
  • the trigger part 30 which includes the rake 32 is slightly flexible in its plane, which allows the rake to function as a ratchet on the toothing 5, as will be explained later.
  • the trigger 30 is rotated in the clockwise direction by a return spring (not shown) relatively small, just enough to keep the rake 32 slightly abut against the toothing 5.
  • a pin 40 of triangular section which extends parallel to the axis 17 and forms an upper finger 40a and a lower finger 40b capable of to rest substantially radially against the respective peripheries of the cams 3 and 14, as well as against the surprise 11.
  • An opening 41 (see FIG. figure 1 ) is formed in the trigger wheel 4 to let the pin 40 with sufficient clearance for its movements relative to this wheel.
  • an opening 42 is formed in the wheel 7 to allow the pin 40 (which is omitted in this figure to clarify the drawing) to cross this wheel without touching it.
  • the periphery of the hour cam 3 comprises a cylindrical portion 43 and a radial notch 44.
  • the periphery of the minute cam 14 also comprises a cylindrical portion 46, with a radius slightly smaller than that of the portion 43 of the other cam, and two radial notches 47 and 48 whose radial input recesses are mutually offset by 30 °, which corresponds to 5 minutes of rotation of the cam 14.
  • the periphery of the surprise 11 comprises a cylindrical portion 50, of slightly smaller radius those of the parts 43 and 46 of the cams, and two radial notches 51 and 52 angularly offset to the same extent as the notches 47 and 48, but a little narrower than these in the circumferential direction.
  • Each notch 51, 52 of the surprise is followed by a respective projecting portion 53, 54 whose outer surface comprises an inlet bevel 55, 56 followed by a cylindrical portion 57, 58 of radius slightly larger than those of the parts cylindrical 43 and 46 of the cams.
  • One end of the spring 12 integrated with the surprise 11 abuts an ankle 59 fixed to the minute cam 14 and tends to maintain the surprise on this cam in a relative position such that the protruding portions 53 and 54 of the surprise cover the notches 47 and 48.
  • the spring 12 has sufficient radial deflection to allow the surprise 11 to pivot on the cam 14 to a sufficient extent to allow it to discover the notches 47 and 48 and thus allow the pin 40 to enter one of them.
  • the mechanism works as follows.
  • the user sets the wakeup time (with a resolution of the order of a minute) by turning the wheel 26 (see figure 1 ) by means of the appropriate command. It thus positions on the one hand the hour and minute hands of the display of the alarm time, and on the other hand the programming wheel 7 and the trigger wheel 4 linked to the wheel 7 by means of its pinion 6 and the cam follower lever 8.
  • the setting of the wake-up time is done in one direction, so that the wheels 4 and 7 rotate counterclockwise A as figure 1 , while the time setting control tilts the trigger 30 counterclockwise and thus releases the rake 32 of the toothing 5 to allow this rotation of the wheel 4. Due to the small resistance opposed by the pinion 6, the lever 8 is then raised in the position shown in the figure 6b where pin 40 is kept away from cams and surprise 11.
  • the alarm clock If the alarm clock is armed, it means that the spring R acts on the trigger 30 and the trigger wheel 4 in the indicated direction by the arrows R and A ( figure 1 ). With reference to figures 3 and 6a the pinion 6 then produces on the lever 8 a torque tending to press the pin 40 radially with a certain force F against the cams and the surprise. Before the wakening time, the pin 40 slides against the cylindrical portion 43 of the hour cam 3 and can not fall into the notches of the minute cam when they pass in front of it.
  • the step 44 of the hour cam passes in front of the pin 40.
  • the pin can then make a small radial displacement to apply sliding against the cylindrical portion 46 of the minute cam 14 as in the situation illustrated by the figure 5 . It is then touched through 55 of the first protruding portion 53 of the surprise 11, covering the first notch 47 of the minute cam.
  • the force F is sufficient for the pin 40 to rotate the surprise counterclockwise A overcoming the resistance that the spring 12 opposes this movement, until the pin can enter the notch 47 at the moment accurate chosen as wake up time.
  • the lever 8 makes a limited tilting up to the position illustrated in FIG. Figure 6c .
  • This movement allows, via the rack 37, a limited pivoting of the pinion 6 and the trigger wheel 4 in the counterclockwise direction A, and the trigger 30 clockwise to a sufficient extent to trigger the alarm clock.
  • the trigger wheel 4 and its pinion 6 perform the function of a return disposed between the lever 8 and the ringing trigger 30, to transmit the tilting movement from the first to the second and vice versa. Thanks to the circular shape of the toothing 5 of the wheel 4, this connection is available in any position of the programming wheel 7, that is to say for any setting of the waking time. .
  • the ringing stops itself after a predetermined time thanks to a suitable mechanism, which also acts on the rake of the organs 34 to rotate the trigger 30 in the counterclockwise direction, against the force of the spring R.
  • the pin 40 can therefore emerge from the notch 47 as indicated in the previous paragraph.
  • the aforementioned mechanism stops pushing the trigger 30, the spring R again has the effect of pressing the pin against the surprise 11, and then on the minute cam 14.
  • the cylindrical surface of this cam then slides against the pin in the situation illustrated by the figure 4 , until the second projecting portion 54 of the surprise abuts against the pin and is pushed back by it by turning the surprise as the waking time.
  • the second notch 48 of the minute cam has advanced enough that the pin 40 can enter and thus allows the elements 8, 6, 4 and 30 to rotate to trigger the ring. The rest happens in the same way as at waking time. If one wanted, the minute cam could have a third radial notch to sound the ring a third time.
  • the construction described above can obviously be modified without losing the essential functional feature of rotating the trigger wheel relative to the programming wheel to trigger the ring.
  • the lever 8 could possibly be replaced by a sliding element.
  • Another variant would be to replace the rack transmission 37 and pinion 6 by a permanent engagement of the pin 40 in an oblique slot in the trigger wheel 4, so that any radial displacement of the pin would produce a pivoting of the wheel and vice versa .
  • the basic concept of the invention is applicable without repetition of the ring after a few minutes, and even without the use of a minute cam, if one is satisfied with a lesser precision of the waking hour.
