Definitions
- Tetramethoxyethane a bisacetal obtained by the reaction of glyoxal with methanol, has a very interesting dissolving behavior. It dissolves comparable to e.g. Ethanol or isopropanol in any ratio with water. At the same time, however, it shows a much greater dissolving power for fats and oils. For example, greasy and oily stains from textiles are sometimes dissolved just as well as with the nonpolar solvents perchlorethylene or with isoalkanes ("benzine").
- tetramethoxyethane appears to be suitable for use in laundry detergents and cleaners for textiles (e.g., in stain removers or detergency boosters) or for hard surfaces, e.g. as a substitute for other organic solvents such as monohydric alcohols (ethanol, isopropanol), dihydric or polyhydric alcohols (1,2-propylene glycol, glycerol), ethers, in particular glycol ethers, ketones, esters, oligo- and polyalkylene glycols (PEG 300 and PEG 400 ), Terpenes, n- and iso-alkanes and nitrogen-containing solvents such as N-methylpyrrolidone.
- solvents come e.g. in liquid detergents, prewash sprays, stain removers, all-purpose cleaners, glass cleaners or special cleaners e.g. in the automotive sector.
- Tetramethoxyethans by longer alkyl radicals by reacting glyoxal with longer-chain alcohols such as ethanol, propanol or butanol and thus passes to tetraethoxyethane, tetrapropoxyethane or tetrabutoxyethane.
- longer-chain alcohols such as ethanol, propanol or butanol
- tetraethoxyethane tetrapropoxyethane or tetrabutoxyethane.
- Such symmetrical bis-acetals of glyoxal with short-chain linear alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms and with isooctanol are known.
- a disadvantage of these symmetrical bis-acetals is the decreasing water solubility with increasing C chain length.
- the object of the present invention is thus to provide bis-acetals of glyoxal which have an even better dissolving power for fats and oils or for nonpolar organic solvents than the known glyoxal acetals without at the same time experiencing a significant reduction in their water solubility. Description
Beschreibung
Glyoxal-Alkylpolyglykolether-Acetale

R1-(O-A)a-OH,
R2-(O-A)b-OH, R3-(O-A)C-OH,
R4-(O-A)d-OH herstellen.
A)a-OH, R2-(O-A)b-OH, R3-(O-A)C- OH bzw. R4-(O-A)d-OH durchgeführt werden.
