Definitions
- the present invention relates to a household appliance with a first and a second housing, the side wall on side wall arranged side by side and fastened to each other (side-by-side arrangement).
- such a refrigerator and freezer device which consists of a cuboid cooling part and a freezer part, the side by side to a
- the gap is sealed airtight by means of a seal. This prevents that in the comparative to
- Ambient air cooler gap area between refrigerator and freezer section passes moisture-laden air that condenses on the side surfaces of the refrigerator and freezer compartment.
- At the front mounting rails are attached to prevent the devices from being pushed apart.
- the object of the invention is to provide a household appliance having two housings with side walls facing each other, in which the housings are to be mounted in a simple manner and form a dimensionally stable structure.
- the object is achieved according to claim 1, characterized in that in each case at one edge of the mutually facing side walls of the housing, a hinge pivotally connecting the housing is mounted and that spaced from this edge on the housings, a connecting element is mounted, which blocks the freedom of movement of the hinge.
- the hinge allows a connection of the housing by a rotary movement and thus simplifies the mounting of the housing on site, because the attachment of the housing to each other can be done in a first step, without the housing must be aligned completely parallel to each other.
- the assembly time is considerably shortened, because due to the weight and size of the housing often tedious and laborious "back and forth" of the housing until they are aligned at their front and back, completely eliminated.
- connection of the hinge parts can be made at any angle.
- the exact rotation defined by the hinge prevents the seal from being damaged when connecting the units. It is slowly, according to the progressive closing process, gently compressed.
- the blocking connecting element prevents the following after installation
- the hinge is attached to the rear edge of the side walls facing each other.
- each housing on which the mutually facing side walls and a rear wall of each housing meet, a recess is formed and that the axis of the hinge runs in the recess.
- This embodiment prevents the hinge protrudes beyond the rear wall of the housing and forms a projection that would interfere with the installation of the household appliance on a wall or when installed in a dedicated frame.
- the hinge is made as a connecting joint between the housing parts each of a first part and a second housing attached to the part, wherein the parts engage positively in the direction of the pivot axis of the hinge.
- the hinge comprises in each case a part fastened to the first or second housing, wherein the parts are respectively fastened over one corner of the first or second housing.
- the hinge each comprises a part fixed to the first or second housing, which are identically shaped.
- the hinge parts are shaped to engage one another and that there is a positive engagement between the parts in the direction of the pivot axis of the hinge to allow transmission of vertical forces from one housing to the other.
- the installation cost is reduced if only a few different in the design mounting hardware needed to build the home appliance.
- This assembly concept continues in a preferred embodiment of the invention in which the hinge has a removable pivot pin. After the housings are brought together and the hinge parts interlock, the pivot pin is simply pushed as a pivot axis in the hinge parts.
- the connecting element which is mounted at some distance from the above-described hinge on the housings in the edge region thereof, provided with two brackets, which in each case one of the mutually facing side walls - A -
- locking channel is attached and together define a locking channel. It also includes an engaging in the locking channel latch.
- the latch has an angled end portion which is supported on one of the stirrups when the latch is inserted into the locking channel.
- the angled end portion provides a security of the connecting element, which protects the engaging latch from slipping through the locking channel.
- the end section is supported on only a part of its width on the bracket. This ensures that, when rebuilding the housing with a screwdriver or similar tool, it is possible to grasp under the part of the end section that is not supported on the bracket in order to pull the latch out of the locking channel and thus release the lock.
- a screw thread is formed in the supported end portion. By screwing a suitable screw into the thread, which then presses against the bracket, the bolt can be pulled out of the locking channel.
- the household appliance according to the invention is designed in particular as a refrigeration device and has a seal between the side walls for sealing the gap and for preventing condensation.
- the gap between the side walls facing each other is concealed at least at the front of the device by a cover profile.
- FIG. 1 shows a plan view of the household appliance according to the invention with a first and second housing before the start of assembly
- FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the household appliance according to the invention during assembly
- FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the form-fitting interlocking hinge parts with the pivot pin at the time of insertion of the pivot pin in the hinge
- FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the back of the fully assembled, inventive household appliance
- FIG. 7 shows a perspective view of the household appliance according to the invention with the connecting element during assembly
- FIG. 8 shows a perspective view of the connecting element with the two brackets and the engaging latch
- FIG. 1 is a plan view of the top of two housings 2, 4 of a side-by-side arrangement of a household appliance according to the invention.
- the housing 2 may for example be that of a refrigerator, while the housing 4 belongs to a freezer.
- the hinge parts 6 and 8 can be seen in the figure, which are each arranged in a corner region of the housing 2 and 4.
- On the side wall 10 of the housing 2 a frame made of a flexible sealing profile 12 is glued.
- a connecting element 14 is on the side walls 10 and 16 of the Housing parts 2 and 4 mounted in the vicinity of the front sides 19 and 21 of the housing parts 2 and 4 and comprises two brackets 18 and 20.
- housings 2 and 4 are unconnected next to each other at an intended mounting place, say in a kitchen area.
- FIGS. 2 and 3 show, in two different construction steps, the course of an assembly process, as becomes possible only with the present invention.
- the housing parts have been pushed together until their opposite side walls are aligned in parallel and their front sides are aligned to form a flat front area. It was not uncommon that the seal was already damaged during assembly by a non-uniform displacement of the bulky housing. In particular, when moving the contacting housing parallel to their side walls facing each other often occurred frictional forces between the side wall of the housing without sealing frame and provided with the sealing frame housing side, which destroyed the seal. If this defect was not detected in time and the gasket replaced, the gap could no longer be sealed airtight so that moisture-laden air condensed into the gap area between the refrigerator and freezer, condensing on the sides of the refrigerator and freezer. It also happened that by careless shifting during or after the construction of the household appliances, the gap between the mutually facing wall surfaces to the back of the refrigerator was wider and so the peripheral seal was ineffective.
- the rear corners of the housings 2, 4 carrying the hinge parts 6, 8 are first placed relative to each other such that the hinge parts 6, 8 engage with each other and can be connected in a later explained manner.
- the connected hinge parts 6,8 now define a pivot axis about which the side walls of the housing 2, 4 are pivoted against each other and thereby compress the sealing profile 12.
- 3 shows the final position of the housing 2,4 side by side.
- the hinge parts 6 and 8 are identical one piece molded from sheet metal. They each have two attachment wings 35 and 37, each with two screw holes 30 and an arcuately connecting the attachment wings centerpiece 22 in which three brackets 24, 26 and 28 are separated from each other by horizontal slots.
- the attachment wings 35 and 37 of a hinge part 6 and 8 are at right angles to each other in order to attach one to a side wall and the other to a rear wall of the housing 2 and 4, respectively.
- the hinge part 6 is rotated and positioned in relation to the hinge part 8, which has a side edge designated 38, which is aligned at the hinge part 6 upwards, at the hinge part 8 facing down and a side edge 40 vice versa.
- the brackets 24, 26 and 28 of the hinge parts 6 and 8 positively engage with each other and thus define a cylindrical cavity 32. This is for receiving a pivot pin 42 which holds the hinge parts 6, 8 pivotally together.
- the hinge parts 6 and 8 are shaped so that the fastening wings 37, which are intended for fastening the hinge parts 6 and 8 on the mutually facing side walls 10, 16 of the housing 2, 4, when interlocking the hinge plates 6 and 8 have a distance A to each other , which is slightly smaller than the thickness of the sealing profile 12.
- Fig. 6 shows the assembled housing 2 and 4 from the back.
- the hinge parts 6 and 8 are each mounted in a recess 44, 46 between the side and rear walls of the housing 2, 4, so that they do not protrude beyond the rear wall of the housing.
- the pivot pin 42 and hinge parts 6 and 8 are joined together to form the finished hinge.
- the gasket 12 is pressed against the respective side walls of the housings 10 and 16. In this way, the gap is sealed airtight by means of a seal.
- a connecting element 14 with two brackets 18, 20, which will now be explained in more detail with reference to FIGS.
- Fig. 7 shows in perspective the two housings 2, 4 in the interconnected via the hinge state of FIG. 2, in which the side walls 10, 16 are not yet tightly opposite.
- the formed from sheet metal brackets 18, 20 each have two mounting flanges with holes 30 which serve to screw on the side walls 10, 16 and by two bulged ribs 62 and 64 in the case of the bracket 18 and three ribs 66, 68 and 70 in Trap of the bracket 20 are connected.
- the width of recesses 60 between the ribs of a bracket 18 and 20, respectively, is selected such that the ribs of the respective other bracket engage therein when the walls 10, 16 are in the position of FIG. 3.
- the brackets 18, 20 are placed on the walls 10, 16 so that the ribs 62, 64, 66, 68, 70 intermesh when, by pivoting in the hinge, the walls 10, 16 are moved towards each other and the sealing profile 12 between them is compressed. As shown in FIG. 8, interlocking the ribs 62, 64, 66, 68, 70 between them creates a locking channel 72 into which a latch 74 is inserted to prevent the housings 2, 4 from being pushed apart again.
- the latch 74 has an angled end portion 80 which comes to rest from an upwardly directed projection 84 between recesses 82 at the upper edge of the rib 66 and so the engaging latch 74 from slipping through the locking channel 72nd preserved. This ensures that when the housings are remodeled with a screwdriver or similar tool into one of the recesses 82, the end portion 80 can be grasped and the latch 74 pulled out of the locking channel 72 to release the lock.
- the end portion could be provided with a threaded bore which terminates at the upper edge of the rib 66. If a screw in this threaded hole is screwed in and hits the top edge of the rib 66, it pushes the end portion 80 upwards and thus gradually pulls the latch 72 out of the locking channel 74. In this way, it is even possible to release the latch when it is firmly clamped in the channel 72.
- a plastic flexible T-profile 76 shown in FIG. 7, is inserted into the space between the walls 10, 16 only after locking the stirrups 18, 20 to conceal the connection member 14 and the seal 12.
