Claims (11)

  1. Feeder arrangement for use in a mould used to cast metals, consisting of a feeder body (11) formed from an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a feeder volume (14) and a feeder opening (18) for connecting the feeder volume (14) to the cavity of the mould, the feeder body (11) being connected to the cavity of the mould directly via the feeder opening (18) or indirectly via a breaker core positioned in between having a through-opening or via a mould part (20) positioned in between having a through-opening, and the respective through-opening (24) of the breaker core or the mould part (20) being aligned with the feeder opening (18), a component (25) consisting of a material which breaks down under the effect of heat being arranged in the connection between the cavity of the mould and the feeder volume (14), characterised in that the component is formed as a separate stopper (25) which belongs to the supply circumference of the feeder arrangement and can be inserted into the mould and into the feeder opening (18) or the through-opening (24) of the breaker core or the mould part (20) after the feeder body (11) has been moulded.
  2. Feeder arrangement for use in a mould used to cast metals, consisting of a feeder body (11) formed from an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a feeder volume (14) and a feeder opening (18) for connecting the feeder volume (14) to the cavity of the mould, the feeder body (11) being connected to the cavity of the mould directly via the feeder opening (18) or indirectly via a breaker core positioned in between having a through-opening or via a mould part (20) positioned in between having a through-opening, and the respective through-opening (24) of the breaker core or the mould part (20) being aligned with the feeder opening (18), a component (25) consisting of a material which breaks down under the effect of heat being arranged in the connection between the cavity of the mould and the feeder volume (14), characterised in that the component is formed as a separate stopper (25) which belongs to the supply circumference of the feeder arrangement, can be positioned on the pattern member forming the mould before the feeder body (11) is moulded and can be brought into the position in which it closes the feeder opening (18) or the through-opening (24) of the breaker core or the mould part (20) by positioning the feeder body (11).
  3. Feeder arrangement according to either claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the stopper (25) is retained with an interlocking fit in the opening (18, 24) in which it is received.
  4. Feeder arrangement according to claim 3, characterised in that the outer side of the stopper (25) is provided with interlocking configurations which engage the edge of the opening (18, 24) from behind.
  5. Feeder arrangement according to either claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the stopper (25) is retained with a non-positive fit in the opening (18, 24) in which it is received.
  6. Feeder arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the stopper (25) has a conical shape.
  7. Feeder arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the stopper (25) consists of a material which can turn to gas under the effect of heat.
  8. Feeder arrangement according to claim 7, characterised in that the stopper (25) consists of expandable polystyrene.
  9. Feeder arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the stopper (25) consists of a material which melts under the effect of heat.
  10. Feeder arrangement according to claim 9, characterised in that the stopper (25) consists of a metal.
  11. Feeder arrangement according to claim 10, characterised in that the stopper (25) consisting of metal is formed so as to be thin-walled.
