Definitions

  • the invention relates to a recessed grip for installation in a rectangular opening in a thin wall, such as a sheet metal wall or door leaf of a sheet metal cabinet, the recess having a bottom and four side walls extending from it, which four side walls in a rectangular, in the mounting position, the perforation of the opening in the thin wall enclosing flange-like edge, wherein two shorter opposite side walls are substantially parallel to each other and perpendicular to the thin wall, while the other two, longer side walls are each aligned obliquely at an acute or obtuse angle to the thin wall, of which in obtuse angle to the thin wall running along the side wall.
  • the object is achieved in that in the region of the side wall running at an acute angle to the thin wall, at least one receptacle for a closure, such as a lock cylinder with a sash, is provided.
  • This measure creates a unit consisting of a recessed grip and a lock that only requires a rectangular opening in the thin wall like the door leaf, not a second opening for a lock.
  • the assembly is also simplified, since it is no longer necessary to mount two different objects, namely the recessed grip on the one hand and the lock on the other, in the door, but rather both fitting parts can be mounted as a unit at the same time.
  • the locking cylinder is arranged in such a way that it extends with its shaft end through an opening in the bottom of the recessed grip and carries a sash tongue on its extending end and is able to engage a rear surface of a door frame or the like to take.

  • the receiving space for the locking cylinder can be provided near the center of the side wall running at an acute angle to the thin wall, but it is usually cheaper, and particularly advantageous for the space required by the hand when engaging in the trough, if the receiving space for the locking cylinder is close to that one end of the side wall lying at an acute angle to the thin wall is arranged.
  • two receiving spaces namely one receiving space for one locking cylinder each, are provided near the one and the other end of the side wall running at an acute angle to the thin wall.

  • the bottom springs back to such an extent that the tongue and optionally a retaining means for the tongue on the end of the shaft of the locking cylinder, such as the locking ring, nut, cotter pin or the like, as well as the end of the shaft, completely or are almost completely absorbed and do not protrude beyond the level of the rest of the non-recessed bottom wall, which results in a particularly compact design.
