Definitions
- the invention relates to an eyeglass frame with a frame which forms a profiled circumferential groove with a cross section for receiving eyeglass lenses, which is delimited on the eye side by a circumferentially tapering outer surface.
- the frame of an eyeglass frame forms a usually V-shaped circumferential groove, in which the spectacle lenses, which have a correspondingly V-shaped edge, are held under a radial prestress.
- the radial forces exerted on the eyeglass lenses via the frame of the frame require a glass in the sense of an increase in the curvature, which in the case of eyeglass lenses with a pronounced longitudinal extension leads to the curvature forces
- transverse forces are created which attempt to force the spectacle lens out of the frame in the bulging direction.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of designing an eyeglass frame of the type described in such a way that not only a secure hold of the eyeglass lenses can be ensured, even if they have a strong curvature with a pronounced longitudinal extension, but also the risk of stress cracks in the edge region of the Glasses are avoided.
- the invention solves this problem in that the circumferential groove on its side opposite the conical circumferential surface has a circumferential wall which runs transversely to the axis of the socket and is spaced apart from the conical circumferential surface.
- the circumferential groove of the frame on the front facing away from the eye is not limited by a conical circumferential surface, but by a circumferential wall running transversely to the axis of the frame, the transverse forces caused by the curvature of the clamping can lead to the circumferential groove through the circumferential wall are recorded without having to fear a sliding movement of the edge of the spectacle lenses ground according to this cross-sectional shape of the circumferential groove, transversely to the circumferential groove, as is the case with a circumferentially V-shaped circumferential groove.
- the distance between the circumferential wall of the circumferential groove on the front of the frame from the conical circumferential surface on the back facing the eye permits widening of the back of the rim of the glasses, which reduces the sensitivity of the ground edge region to stress cracks.
- the conical peripheral surface on the eye facing the rear of the circumferential groove as in the case of conventional circumferential grooves with a V-shaped cross section, the eyeglass lenses are centered and held without play in the frame.
- the base of the groove and the conical can be used Circumferential wall each extend about half over the opening width of the circumferential groove, so that there is a sufficiently wide back corresponding to half the opening width of the circumferential groove for the edge of the spectacle lenses that is ground depending on the cross-sectional shape of the circumferential groove.
- FIG. 1 shows a section of a spectacle frame according to the invention in the area of the frame for a spectacle lens in a simplified front view
- FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1
- FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1
- FIG. 4 shows a section through the frame of the holder along the line III-III of FIG. 1 on a larger scale.
- the spectacle frame shown in detail has a frame 1 with a frame 2, which is provided with a circumferential groove 3 for receiving a spectacle lens 4.
- a frame 2 which is provided with a circumferential groove 3 for receiving a spectacle lens 4.
- the spectacle lens 4 is divided.
- the ends of the frame 2 opposite each other in the region of the division are connected in a conventional manner with the aid of a locking block 5, the spectacle lens 4 inserted into the circumferential groove 3 of the frame 2 being clamped under a radial prestress in the frame 2 via the locking block screw.
- the circumferential groove 3 has a transverse configuration to the axis of the frame 1 extending peripheral wall 9 on the front of the socket 1 facing away from the eye, as can be seen from FIG. 4.
- the peripheral groove 3 is delimited by a conically tapering peripheral surface 10, between which and the peripheral wall 9 an essentially cylindrical groove base 11 extends.
- the edge of the spectacle lens 4 to be used corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of the circumferential groove 3 the frame 1 is ground, the edge of the lens 4 is supported with a transverse to the forces 8 chest 12 on the peripheral wall 9, so that an escape of the edge of the lens 4 from the circumferential groove 3 can be prevented with certainty.
- the back 13 corresponding to the groove base 11 and the adjoining sloping shoulder 14 of the glass rim not only make the spectacle lens 4 less sensitive to stress cracks, but also support the centering clamping of the spectacle lens 4 in the frame 1.
- the frame 1 can also be fitted with spectacle lenses, which are provided in a conventional manner with a V-shaped edge that slopes towards both sides.
- the advantage made possible by the special cross-sectional shape of the circumferential groove 3 with regard to the spectacle lens holder cannot be used.
