  • the massage unit consists of a massage slide, which can be inserted into the backrest of a massage chair or into another piece of furniture to be equipped with a massage unit, which can be moved back and forth along a frame by a drive.
  • the massage slide usually has two motor-driven axles, via which an oscillation of two, each provided with a massage element, massage arms is generated.
  • each massage arm consists of a pivotally connected to the one arm support arm, at the free end of the massage element is arranged, and an articulated to the second axis boom, which engages with one end on the support arm.
  • both axes have at their ends eccentric areas on which the holding arm or the jib are mounted.
  • the movement of the axis connected to the cantilever is such that, in superposition with the eccentric oscillation of the axis connected to the support arms, a substantially vertical movement, optionally with a component perpendicular to the frame, of the massage elements is produced via the cantilevers.
  • the massage effect exercised by this movement is also called "knocking".
  • the “kneading” and “knocking” movements are superimposed to a first oscillating movement of the holding arm in a first frequency range, which is transmitted to the massage element.
  • Massage arms with a massage element of the type mentioned are, for example, from WO 97/37627 .
  • WO-A-01/74289 EP-A-1 013 254 and EP-A-0 998 894 known.
  • the techniques of kneading and tapping described above are more or less intended to simulate manual massage by a massage therapist.
  • the DE 34 29 392 A1 describes a muscle relaxer, the backrest having a pair of rollers which are movable up and down along the backrest, and a vibration unit having an eccentric weight on its axis, the eccentric weight being power driven so as to impart a wave motion to the backrest in which the rollers and the vibrator unit are supported on a support part are held, which meshes with a threaded rod which is reversibly rotatable by means of an electric motor.
  • the object of the present invention is to further improve the massaging effect exerted by the conventional techniques on a massaging arm with a massage element on the body of the person to be massaged.
  • a vibration device for generating one of the first superimposed second oscillatory motion in a relation to the first higher second frequency range on Massageelement.oder is arranged on the arm.
  • vibration devices are in massage slides from the US-A-5 020 518 and US-A-5,462,516 known.
  • the US-A-5 020 518 discloses only a displaceable by a single axis in oscillation massage arm over which a "kneading" movement is exercised on the back of a person sitting in a chair, in the backrest of the massage carriage is arranged longitudinally movable.
  • a vibration device is arranged on the mounting plate of the massage slide, which transmits a swinging motion to the entire massage slide. Since the massage elements are connected by a plurality of articulated parts to the support plate of the massage slide, this swinging motion is hardly transmitted effectively to the massage elements.
  • the disclosed US-A-5 46.2 516 besides as Rollers formed on an axis massage elements further trained as rollers massage elements, which are articulated at the ends of rotatably mounted on a second axis arms and exercise a "kneading" movement on the back of the person to be massaged. Furthermore, a vibration device is provided on the mounting plate of the massage slide, which, as in the US-A-5 020 518 , exerts a vibration on the entire massage slide.
  • vibration devices that act directly on the support arm and / or the massage element come, for example, small dimensioned electric motors whose drive shaft is provided with an imbalance, into consideration.
  • coils with metal cores or anchors that are oscillatable with AC voltage can be used.
  • the second frequency range generated by the vibration device is between 15 and 100 Hz.
  • the second frequency range is preferably between 20 and 70 Hz. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the frequency range is between 20 and 40 Hz.
  • the vibration device is arranged in the vicinity of the contact surface of the massage element.
  • the massage elements which come into consideration for the invention may have at least one massage body whose surface forms the contact surface with the person to be massaged.
  • the vibration device is preferably arranged next to the massage body or in the massage body.
  • the vibration device has an electric motor whose drive shaft is provided with an imbalance on.
  • the massaging body or masses may be formed dome-shaped on the body-facing side of the massage element.
  • the vibration device can therefore be installed in one or more of the dome-shaped massage body from the opposite side of the massage element.
  • the massage bodies may also, as usual, be in the form of rollers, wherein the vibration device may be incorporated in the rollers.
  • the vibration device is arranged on the holding arm, so that the vibration transmitted to it is transmitted via the articulated connection to the massage element.
  • the articulated connection between the holding arm and the massage element should be designed as flexible as possible.
  • the hinge connection is designed as a ball joint.
  • joint connections can be selected which allow a rotational movement of the massage element relative to the holding arm about one (preferably horizontal) or several pivot axes.
  • the joint may comprise two crosswise arranged pivot axes.
  • a bearing of the massage element on the massage arm via a vibration damper e.g. a rubber compound, done.
  • a massage arm 1 is connected to a massage element 2 by a hinge 3, which allows a pivoting movement of the massage element 2 about a plurality of axes.
  • the support arm 4 is shown in the drawing, which is freely supported by a bearing 5 on a motor-driven axis, not shown in the drawing.
  • the bearing is at an eccentric end of the axis, which is arranged inclined with respect to the axis in one direction, so that both an eccentric oscillation on the support arm 4 parallel to the plane of the drawing of Fig. 1 and a pivoting of the support arm 4 perpendicular to the plane of the drawing of Fig. 1 is generated.
  • boom which is pivotally connected to a second axis, also not shown in the drawing.
  • This oscillatory movement leads in superposition with the eccentric movement of the support arm 4 to the so-called “knocking” movement, while the pivoting of the support arm 4 substantially in the vertical and the plane of the drawing of Fig. 1 vertical plane causes the so-called "kneading" movement.
  • the aforementioned oscillatory movement and eccentric motion are in a frequency range up to 15 Hz and simulate the massage effect of a manual massage by a therapist.
  • the body surface to be treated is extensively and uniformly massaged, the muscles concerned are moved and the meridians are activated.
  • the massage element 2 consists of a flat, hand-shaped support member 6 with arranged on the support arm 4 opposite side massage bodies 7, which act with its surface on the human body.
  • a vibration device 8 For receiving the dome-shaped massage body 7 corresponding openings in the support member 6 are provided. Through one of the openings in the dome-shaped massage body 7 into a vibration device 8, which is fixedly fixed to the support member 6.
  • the vibration device 8 consists, as indicated in Fig. 1, of an electric motor 9, the drive shaft is provided with an imbalance 10.
  • an imbalance 10 By rotating the imbalance 10, a vibratory motion is generated in the frequency range between 15 and 100 Hz, which superimposes the oscillatory and eccentric movement of the support arm 4, which causes the tapping and kneading of the massage element 2. This results in an ideal Combination of slower kneading and tapping with decocking vibration.
  • the vibrator is fixedly connected to the support arm 4 in the vicinity of the joint 3.
  • the vibration device 8 is located in a housing 11, which is laterally attached to the support arm 4 in the vicinity of the joint 3.
  • the vibration device 8 also consists of an electric motor 9, to whose drive shaft an imbalance 10 is attached. The vibration generated at the end of the holding arm 4 facing the massage element 2 is transmitted to the massage element 2 via the joint 3.
  • the massage arm 1 connecting to the massage element 2 joint 3 of a ball joint with a mounted on the support arm 4 ball head 12 and a support member 6 at its massage bodies 7 opposite side mounted ball socket 13.
  • the ball 12 has two opposite pins 14 which extend perpendicular to the massage arm 1 and engage in opposite openings 15 in the ball socket 13.
  • the pins 14 and openings 15 prevent rotation of the massage element 2 about the axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the support arm 4.
  • the openings 15 are elongated in the longitudinal direction of the support arm 4, so that the pivot angle of the articulated connection between the massage arm 1 and the massage element 2 is limited in the vertical plane perpendicular to the plane of FIG. 2 to a predetermined range. As a result, a rotation of the massage element 2 in this plane as well as in the plane of FIG. 1 is prevented.
  • the ball socket 13 is provided with a U-shaped and open to the edge of the ball socket 13 groove 16 into which a cylindrical projection 17 of the ball head 12 is pivotable.
  • the groove 16 is arranged in the plane of the massage arm 1 parallel to the plane of the drawing of Fig. 1 and perpendicular to the plane of the drawing of Fig. 2, so that the massage arm 1 in this plane against the massage element 2 can be folded.
  • connection between the ball head 12 and the support arm 4 may have a rubber mount or other vibration damper to largely avoid transmission of vibration to the holding and driving means for the massage element.
  • FIG. 3 differs from that shown in Figure 1 in that the joint 3 comprises two crosswise arranged axes 18 and 19.
  • This articulated connection also has the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 4, which otherwise corresponds to the exemplary embodiment according to FIG.
  • the hinge connection forming the axle 18 has a hinge part 20 on the end of the support arm 4 of the massage arm 1 facing the massage element 2 and a fork-shaped hinge part 21 which is connected to the massage element 2 via the articulated connection forming the axle 19.
  • the hinge part 20 is provided with a projection 22 which cooperates with a stop 23 on the hinge part 21 to the pivot angle of the massage element 2 against Clockwise relative to the support arm 4 to limit. In the other direction of rotation in a clockwise direction, the massage element 2 be pivoted indefinitely until it comes to the support arm 4 to the plant.
  • the pivotal connection about the axis 19 is formed by the above-mentioned hinge part 21 and a hinged part 24 attached to the support part 6 of the massage element 2.
  • the hinge part 24 has two legs 25 which extend perpendicular to the axis 19 and whose sides are inclined. Between these legs 25, a narrowed portion 26 of the hinge part 21 is arranged.
  • the narrowed portion 26 is made up of the remaining hinge part 21, whose width corresponds approximately to the distance of the outer side of the legs 25, by a perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the support arm 4 extending shoulder, which is above the leg 25 with little play.
  • the inclined side surfaces of the legs 25 thus serve as abutment surfaces for the shoulder and limit the pivoting angle of the massage element 2 when pivoting about the axis 19 in both directions.
  • the vibration device 8 as in the embodiment of Figure 2, mounted in a housing 11 at the end of the support arm 4, which faces the massage element 2.
  • the design of the vibration device 8 corresponds to that described above in connection with FIG.
