Abstract

Adhesive binding method comprises carrying out a perforating process on the folding edge so that two interrupted perforation lines are punched, in which the perforation lines are parallel at a short distance from one another and offset in the longitudinal direction, and forming a widened folding edge. The punch locations of both perforation lines are offset by the length of one perforating tooth along the folding edge. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the method comprising perforating knives with cutting edges (6, 6', 6'') arranged in the direction of two parallel perforating lines (12, 13). The knives are displaced in the direction of their longitudinal axes about a perforating tooth.

Description

The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device according to the preamble of claim 15.

The method of adhering sheets to be assembled into a book block is done by applying glue to the block back of the book block forming set of sheets and pressing them together. In this method, the adhesive can penetrate only minimal transversely to the back in the edge regions of the leaves at the junction, so that the adhesive surface is very small and consequently only a low strength of the adhesive bond is achieved.

A higher strength is by the adhesive bonding after DE 103 41 493.2 achieved, in which the book block forming sheets are fanned, while the back of the not yet finished book block (in the form of the clamped sheets) is provided with adhesive. By fanning the leaves deeper penetration of the adhesive to the sheet back and thus a larger adhesive surface is achieved.

On the one hand, the fan-art binding requires a corresponding device, on the other hand, the fanning of the leaves block and the introduction of the adhesive is not as accurate as would be desirable, so that this solution, especially for small batches, is not satisfactory. Since the fan art binding is problematic for sheets of thicker paper material reasons, therefore, is for book blocks from ungeeinetem, eg thicker paper, especially when producing books in small series, no viable solution available.

US 4,951,967 A (D1) relates to the field of web presses, and helps to avoid creases within the single sheet when sheet signatures are folded and to improve stacking performance in the form of a flatness of the signatures to be deposited on pallets. However, it is not possible to deduce any breakouts produced by perforation lines, and there is no indication of corresponding adhesive surfaces, from which the skilled person would extract the doctrine of an ensuing increased binding quality.

After US 5,634,758 A (D2) is made for the booklet making a punctual connection within a perforated by the back of the arch area and a subsequent adhesive application to the punching edges. Such bonding is similar to stapling staples to a low product thickness and limits only individual breakpoints in terms of format height. Books or book blocks in the sense of the bookbinding technique can not be produced with this method.

EP-A-0 841 649 (D3) relates to a process for the production of stamping dies and a resulting paper product, eg stamps or self-adhesive labels. By different perforation of the adhesive-coated label and the underlying release paper is in a single operation to improve the separation behavior between release paper and label, eg stamp, also contributed to individual, separated from a sheet or roll products.

The object of the invention is generally to increase the adhesion of sheets between each other in a book block and in particular, to propose a method and a device for adhesive bonding, made with or with the book blocks from unsuitable, especially from thicker and thus stiffer sheet material adhesive bond , A much higher binding force is achieved with simple adhesive application technique, the impact of books significantly is improved, and in particular an adhesive bond of materials that were previously not connectable by adhesive, is made possible.

According to the invention this is achieved by a method according to the features of the characterizing part of claim 1 and with a device having the features according to the characterizing part of claim 15. Further embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

With the invention is achieved, the folded edge to be joined to a book block sheets in the space provided, namely the binding edge, to produce and edit that the front and back side and the first and the adjoining sheet alternately form eruptions, the serve in their width and length as adhesive receiving surfaces. The respective adjacent leaves have due to their identical pitch on the same alternating eruptions, so that result in pressed sheet stack laterally offset, continuous in length clearances in sheet thickness for receiving adhesive. This achieves an extremely strong double-sided perfect binding. When turning over in a bound state, the leaves bend at the line, which is determined by the transition from the continuous paper to the rest of 50%. The protruding sheet parts stuck almost immobile in an adhesive film, which book blocks can be largely flattened. This gives the advantage that the individual pages can be copied free of delay. The processing of the folded or sheet edges can be done according to the invention by different design of the cutting geometry of linear or optionally circular cutting tools, especially knives. In particular, double-slit perforating knives or wheels can be used for sheet-by-sheet processing of double sheets (with four sides), wherein the sheet halves remain connected to one another by small transverse webs. The use of circular or wheel knives is preferably in roll printers and folding machines appropriate. The tool can be used in crucible / cylinder printing machines.

Another cutting geometry according to the invention represent the meandering blades or wheels, which are preferably used in multiple benefits, the plant is offset from sheet to sheet by half a pitch. Such a meandering design of cutting edges comprises both a rectangular meandering shape and a wavy meandering shape, a dovetail shape or the like.

In the double-slot perforation, the bridge can stand between each two adjacent outbreaks. After the slot perforation, the sheet is folded or folded. An alternative method is to cut or perforate a full-meandered sheet and fold it together, or alternatively to provide a broken cross-cut line in a meandering form.

Alternatively, however, it is also possible to proceed in such a way that individual sheets are cut and put together separately, wherein the individual sheets are cut offset in the stack. On the other hand, the entire stack can be cut the same and then set together so that successive sheets are offset by a pitch of the perforation. Basically you can individual pockets or outbreaks punched or cut and put together staggered. This is done by notching or channel milling, wherein the sheet stacks are processed so that the sheets have alternately a changing by half pitch track length and are pushed before punching / milling, for example, at the head cutting and after punching / milling at the foot cut (or vice versa).

In FIG. 1 is a Doppelperforiermesser 1 shown, which consists of two Einzelperforiermessern 2, 3. The knife teeth are shown schematically at 4, 5, the cutting edges at 6, 7. The two Einzelperforiermesser 2, 3, at least at the cutting edges 6, 7 a distance a from each other, which can be adjusted according to the material thickness of the sheet to be perforated B, and which is determined for example by inserted inserts A, and are by connecting screws 8, 9 together releasably secured.

The Doppelperforierwerkzeug 1 is in the perspective view after FIG. 2 shown in the structure and in the way of working. The cutting edges or teeth 6, 6 ', 6 ",... Punch the slots 10, 10', 10",..., The cutting edges or teeth 7, 7 ', 7 ",.. according to the slots 11, 11 ', 11 ".... after FIG. 3 , The distance between the two perforation lines 12 and 13 is in a specific embodiment of the invention, for example, 0.6 mm, the length of a tooth 6 and 7, for example, 3.5 mm. With 14 is in the illustration after FIG. 4 illustrated an imaginary fold line or hinge line around which the two halves of a punched sheet in the production of a book block are folded, and it results from the punched slots, a folding strip 15, the width of which is determined by the distance of the slots 10 and 11. The slots 10 and 11 have in the direction of the fold line in each case the distance of a tooth width and are arranged to each other gap, ie offset by a tooth width. The Perforierschlitze 10, 11 are not connected to each other in this embodiment by transverse webs, so that when folding a punched with a Doppelperforiermesser sheet around the central fold line or hinge line 15 each emerging outbreaks 16, 17 arranged in the longitudinal direction (along the folding line) on the gap are bent and folded in the folded state and are arranged next to each other, so that the marginal lines result in an overall meandering course. The surfaces of the outbreaks 16, 17 form the surfaces which receive an adhesive, so that in an assembly and compression of the Leaves to a book block each alternating pairs of eruptions of successive, superimposed sheet halves are glued together and a high-quality, permanent perfect binding is achieved.

In another embodiment of the invention according to FIG. 5 is the Doppelperforierwerkzeug 18 formed as a one-piece tool in which the cutting teeth 19, 19 ', 19 ", .... and 20, 20', 20", .... have a contiguous meandering course and both longitudinal slots 21, 21 ' , 21 ", .... as well as each two adjacent opposite longitudinal slots interconnecting transverse slots 22, 22 ', 22", .... punch. The fold line or hinge line is denoted by 23, and the outbreaks 24, 25 are folded to form the book block alternately in the opposite sense to the joint line, so that a fold around the center line of the meandering occurs and thus the breakout surfaces over the entire surface available for the adhesive bond while the transverse lines of the meander course form the joints with each other.

A variant of FIG. 5 is in FIG. 7 shown. The cutting edge 26 of the perforation has this dovetail shape. Analogously, the perforation line can also be designed as a waveform.

In a further embodiment of the cutting edge of a cutting tool, the continuous cutting edge 27 in the transverse web 28 is discontinuous, for example formed with interruption or perforation 29, as in FIG. 9 shown. In each case, a joint connection is left on the punching line of the transverse web, via which two adjoining outbreaks of the blade halves are connected to each other, so that a defined joint axis is formed, around which the blade halves are folded.

Instead of a linear cutting tool according to the previous illustrations is in FIG. 10 a rotating cutting or punching tool shown, the function of which in FIG. 2 represented punching knife corresponds and is composed of two symmetrical halves. Claims (18)

  1. Method for manufacturing an adhesive binding for bookbinding in which the pages are perforated along the folded edge (14, 23), folded and are provided along the folded edge with adhesive and assembled into the body of a book characterised in that the perforation process is carried out along the folded edge (14, 23) in such a way that two broken perforation lines are stamped out parallel to one another spaced at a slight distance from one another and running in the longitudinal direction off-set from one another forming a widened folded edge (14) in the form of a double slit line, that the stamping points (10, 11) of the two perforation lines are off-set by the length of one perforation tooth from one another in the longitudinal direction along the folded edge (14, 23), that the pages which are folded along the folded edge (14, 23) and brought together and clamped into a body of a book are provided on the surfaces which are associated with one another and formed by the double perforation with an adhesive coating between the slots (16, 24) of the one perforation line and the slots (17, 25) of the other perforation line, and that the double pages thus treated are pressed with the slots (16, 17, 24, 25) of the following double pages into the body of the book.
  2. Method according to claim 1 characterised in that the folded edge (14, 23) is obtained by meander-shaped or wavy perforation cuts (29) in the longitudinal axis.
  3. Method according to claim 1 or 2 characterised in that the folded edge (14, 23) is formed by two perforation lines (12, 13) which run parallel to one another at a slight distance from one another and whose perforation is formed in the longitudinal direction by the cuts of cutter teeth.
  4. Method according to claim 3 characterised in that the connecting lines between the end of one toothed cut of the first perforation line (12) and the beginning of an associated tooth cut of the second perforation line (13) represent the join between the cut lines in the longitudinal axis so that no continuous separation lines are stamped out.
  5. Method according to one of claims 1 to 4 characterised in that the processing of the folded or page edges is carried cut according to a cutting geometry which is designed symmetrical in the longitudinal axis and is created with selectively linear or circular-shaped stamping tools (1, 2, 3, 18).
  6. Method according to one of claims 1 to 4 characterised in that the stamping lines of a stamping tool (18) are designed to run in meander fashion.
  7. Method according to one of claims 1 to 6 characterised in that the stamping lines of each stamping tool (18) are designed to run in a dovetailed fashion.
  8. Method according to one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that the stamping tools (1, 2, 3, 18) are designed so that the page halves remain connected to one another by transverse webs and that the two stamped page halves are folded together or folded after the slitting or stamping respectively.
  9. Method according to one of claims 1 to 7 characterised in that the transverse webs have a centre break (29).
  10. Method according to claim 1 characterised in that recesses are stamped or cut into the pages in the stack to be combined into the body of the book and the pages thus stamped are guided together in alternation relative to one another off-set by one tooth spacing.
  11. Method according to claim 10 characterised in that the pages which are brought together to form the body of the book are cut or stamped uniformly and each second page is then off-set relative to the first page by about half a spacing.
  12. Method according to one of claims 1 and 8 characterised in that a virtual hinge line is formed along the widened folded edge (14) at the transition points from the slots (16, 17, 24, 25) of the one page to the slots of the next page.
  13. Method according to one of claims 1 to 9 characterised in that the spacing of the two perforation lines (12, 13) of the widened folded edge (14) is varied in dependence on and to adapt to the thickness of the paper.
  14. Method according to claims 12 and 13 characterised in that the virtual hinge line is formed or represented by articulation points in the centre of the transverse lines which connect the longitudinally aligned two meander lines to one another.
  15. Device for carrying out the method according to one of claims 1 to 14 in which the perforation tool (18) has a one-piece cutter in the form of a double-slit perforation cutter whose cutting edge (26, 27) has a meander or wavy path, that the meander sections of the cutting edge (26, 27) which run in the longitudinal direction of the perforation lines are produced on the perforation line in alternation after the slots (24, 25) which open to the one side and then to the other side to serve as adhesive surfaces, and that the transverse webs (22, 22', 22", ...) which restrict the two adjoining slots (24, 25) in the transverse direction are formed by continuous or optionally discontinuous cutting edges.
  16. Device according to claim 15 characterised in that the cutting edges (26, 27) of the one-piece cutter each have a meander-shaped path in which the cutting edges which cut through the page material together produce meander-shaped separation lines, the longitudinally aligned perforation spots partially cut through the material and each produce a broken cutting line, and the transversely aligned perforation spots do not or not completely cut through the material and leave at least one transverse spot in the form of a join wherein the articulation points thereby created form as a whole the virtual hinge line as the hinged axis.
  17. Device according to claim 15 or 16 characterised in that the slots (24, 25) formed in alternation on both sides of the longitudinal axis follow one another continuously along the meander-shaped perforation line, that the slots along the two perforation lines are off-set in the longitudinal direction by the length of one cutter tooth, and that the slots of the two parallel perforation lines form together a continuous strip-like surface over the entire length of the perforation with the width of the transverse webs.
  18. Device according to one of claims 15 to 17 characterised in that two perforated pages folded about the folding line have a continuous adhesive surface in the longitudinal direction with the width of the transverse joining line between the two perforation lines.
