Die Erfindung betrifft neue immobilisierbare Imidazoliumsalze der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II),

die eine SiR'n(OR')3-n tragende Gruppe R an einem der beiden Stickstoff- Atome und einen sterisch anspruchsvollen Kohlenwasserstoff-Rest R3 an dem anderen der beiden Stickstoffatome des Heterozyklus enthalten. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin die Verwendung der Verbindungen in der organischen Synthese und als Ligand-Vorstufen zur Herstellung von immobilisierbaren und immobilisierten Katalysatoren.
1. Stand der Technik und Aufgabe der Erfindung
Beispiele von sterisch nicht anspruchsvollen Imidazolium- und 4,5- Dihydroimid-azoliumsalzen mit Trialkoxysilylgruppen sind in WO 01/32308, WO 02/098560 und in J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 12932; Topics in Catalysis 2001 , 14, 139; Journal of Catalysis 2000, 196, 86; J. Mol. Cat. A: Chem. 2002, 184, 31 beschrieben. Es handelt sich dabei um Verbindungen des Typs A und B.

Verbindungen des Typs A und B wurden entweder direkt auf anorganische Oxide immobilisiert oder über eine Sol-Gel Methode in die entsprechenden Oberflächen-modifizierten Silica überführt. Im Hinblick auf die Anwendung solcher Systeme als Vorstufen für immobilisierbare NHC-Liganden (N- heterozyklische Carbene) sind diese Verbindungen ungeeignet. Ursache dafür sind die sterisch wenig anspruchsvollen Alkylgruppen an den Stickstoff-Atomen des Heterozyklus, die bei Raumtemperatur zu einer thermischen Instabilität führen. Des weiteren neigen einige Vertreter dieser Verbindungen zu Dimerisierungsreaktionen. Diese Nachteile lassen sich, wie in WO 98/27064; WO 00/15339; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1992, 114, 5530; Chem. Eur. J. 1996, 2, 1627; Tetrahedron 1999, 55, 14523 beschrieben, beseitigen, indem sterisch anspruchsvolle Kohlenwasserstoff-Reste anstelle der Alkylgruppen an beide Stickstoffatome in A und B eingeführt werden, wie in C und D dargestellt.

Solche Kohlenwasserstoff-Reste können substituierte Aromaten wie zum Beispiel Mesityl-Reste, aber auch Adamantyl, Cyclohexyl usw. sein. Verbindungen der Typen C und D lassen sich jedoch nicht kovalent auf anorganische Oxide immobilisieren, da sie keine geeigneten kopplungsfähigen funktioneilen Gruppen enthalten. Eine Immobilisierung ist aber essentiell im Hinblick auf eine Anwendung dieser Imidazolium- und 4,5- Dihydroimidazoliumsalzen als Katalysatoren oder als Vorstufen für NHC- Liganden, die in der homogenen Übergangsmetallkatalyse immer vielseitiger eingesetzt werden. Durch eine Immobilisierung wird eine einfache Abtrennung der Übergangsmetallkatalysatoren von den erhaltenen Produkten ermöglicht. In der Praxis der homogenen Katalyse stellt dieses noch immer ein großes Problem dar. Mit der Bereitstellung von immobilisierbaren Liganden kann dieses Problem gelöst werden.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung war es daher, immobilisierbare Imidazolium- und 4,5-Dihydroimidazoliumsalzen zur Verfügung zu stellen, die als Katalysatoren oder als Vorstufen für NHC-Liganden einsetzbar sind und die sich in einem einfachen und preiswerten Verfahren herstellen lassen.
5 Aufgabe der Erfindung war es auch, entsprechende Imidazolium- und 4,5-
Dihydroimidazoliumsalze mit hoher thermischer Stabilität zur Verfügung zu stellen, welche sich auf anorganischen Oxiden als Trägermaterialien kovalent binden lassen und anschließend in ausreichend großer Menge auf der Oxid-Oberfläche für Anwendungsreaktionen zur Verfügung stehen.
1 o Hierzu sollten sie fest auf der Oberfläche verankert sein und sich nicht durch Zugabe von Lösemitteln wieder von der Oxid-Oberfläche lösen.
2. Beschreibung der Erfindung

Weiterer Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die Verwendung der hergestellten Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Ausgangsstoff für die Herstellung von immobilisierten Imidazolium- und 4,5- Dihydroimidazoliumsalzen, immobilisierbaren bzw. immobilisierten NHC- Katalysatorliganden, immobilisierbaren bzw. immobilisierten Katalysatorvorstufen, immobilisierbaren bzw. immobilisierten Katalysatoren sowie die Verwendung der Verbindungen als Katalysatoren in organischen oder metallorganischen und Übergangsmetali-katalysierten Reaktionen, als Lösungsmittel in organischen oder metallorganischen und Übergangsmetali- katalysierten Reaktionen wie z.B. Hydrierungen, Oxidationen, Hydroformylierungen, Kupplungsreaktionen oder Oligomerisierungen, die Verwendung als ionische Flüssigkeit und als Lösungsmittel für 2-Phasen- Reaktionen, oder die Verwendung zur Herstellung von immobilisierten ionischen Flüssigkeiten, immobilisiertenLösungsmittel für z.B. Hydrierungen, Oxidationen, Hydroformylierungen, Kupplungsreaktionen oder Oligomerisierungen, als immobilisierte Liganden- bzw. immobilisierte Katalysatorvorstufen , oder als Separationsmedien zur Auftrennung von Stoffgemischen und als Medium zur Aufreinigung von Reaktionsprodukten (Scavenger-Funktion).
3. Ausführliche Beschreibung der Erfindung
Erfindungsgemäße Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) stellen Imidazolium- und 4,5-Dihydroimidazolium-Salze dar. In (I) liegt ein 1,3- disubstituiertes Imidazolium-Kation mit einem einfach geladenen Anion und in (II) ein 1 ,3-disubstituiertes 4,5-Dihydroimidazolium-Kation ebenfalls mit einem einfach geladenen Anion vor.
An die beiden Stickstoff-Atome des Heterozyklus sind ein zyklischer Rest (R3) und eine auf anorganische Oxide immobiliserbare Silyl-Gruppe R- SiR'n(OR')n-3 gebunden, wobei der Si(OR')3-n Baustein zu einer nachfolgenden Reaktion befähigt ist, insbesondere mit einem Metalloxid, welches aktive OH-Gruppen auf der Oberfläche besitzt.
R' in der SiR'n(OR')3-n-Einheit ist ein Kohlenwasserstoff-Rest, wobei n = 0, 1 oder 2 sein kann, bevorzugt 0 und 1 und ganz bevorzugt 0. Dieser Kohlenwasserstoffrest R' kann unabhängig von der Stellung im Molekül unterschiedliche Bedeutungen annehmen und geradkettig, unverzweigt (linear), verzweigt, gesättigt, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigt, zyklisch (A), oder aromatisch (Ar), gegebenenfalls ein- oder mehrfach substituiert sein.
A und Ar können dabei alle im folgenden gegebenen Bedeutungen annehmen.
Bevorzugt ist R' ein geradkettiger , unverzweigter (linearer), verzweigter, gesättigter, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter, oder zyklischer gesättigter oder ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter, Alkyl-Rest mit 1 - 12 C-Atomen. Besonders bevorzugt ist R' ein geradkettiger oder verzweigter gesättigter Alkylrest mit 1 - 7 C-Atomen, also eine Untergruppe aus der Alkylgruppe A, die im folgenden noch näher definiert wird.

Je größer die Zahl der Alkoxy-Reste in der SiR, n(OR')3-n-Gruppe ist und damit je kleiner n ist, desto größer kann die Anzahl der kovalenten Bindungen zwischen dem Metalloxid und den Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) nach der Immobilisierung sein. Die SiR'n(OR')3-n Gruppe ist über einen Kohlen Wasserstoff rest R mit dem Stickstoff-Atom des Heterozyklus verbunden.
Der Kohlenwasserstoffrest R ist bevorzugt ein Rest mit 1 - 30 C-Atomen. Dieser Kohlenwasserstoffrest kann geradkettig, unverzweigt (linear), verzweigt, gesättigt, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigt, zyklisch (A), oder aromatisch (Ar), heterozyklisch oder herteroaromatisch (Het) und gegebenenfalls ein- oder mehrfach substituiert sein.
Der Kohlenwasserstoffrest R kann ein Rest A, Ar, A-Ar, A-Ar-A, Het, A-Het, A-Het- sein, wobei jeweils die Gruppen A, Ar und Het die im folgenden gegebenen Bedeutungen annehmen können.
A geradkettiger, unverzweigter (linearer), verzweigter, gesättigter, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter oder zyklischer Alkylrest A mit 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 , 22, 23, 24, 25,
26, 27, 28, 29, oder 30 C-Atomen, vorzugsweise mit 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 oder 12 C-Atomen.
Alkylen hat die gleichen Bedeutungen wie für A angegeben, mit der Maßgabe, daß eine weitere Bindung vom Alkyl zum nächsten
Bindungsnachbarn geknüpft ist.
A kann beispielsweise eine Alkylengruppe ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Methylen (-CH2-), Ethyl (-C2H4-), Propyl (-C3H6-), Isopropyl (-C3H6-), Butyl (-C4H8-), Isobutyl (-C4H8-), sek.-Butyl (-C4H8-) oder tert.-Butyl
(-C4H8-), ferner auch Pentyl (-C5H10-), 1-, 2- oder 3-Methylbutyl (-C5H10-), 1,1- , 1 ,2- oder 2,2-Dimethylpropyl (-C5H10-), 1-Ethylpropyl (-C5Hιo-), Hexyl (-C6Hι2-), 1- , 2- , 3- oder 4-Methylpentyl (-C6H12-), 1,1- , 1 ,2- , 1 ,3- , 2,2- , 2,3- oder 3,3-Dimethylbutyl (-C6Hι2-), 1- oder 2- Ethylbutyl (-C6H12-), 1 -Ethyl-1 -methylpropyl (-C6Hι2-), 1 -Ethyl-2- methylpropyl (-C6Hι2-), 1,1 ,2- oder 1 ,2,2-Trimethylpropyl (-C6Hi2-), Heptyl, Octyl, Nonyl, Decyl, Undecyl oder Dodecyl sein.
A kann auch eine Cycloalkylengruppe mit 3 - 30 C-Atomen sein, vorzugsweise C3-C9-Cycloalkylen. Hierin kann Cykloalkyl gesättigt, ungesättigt, gegebenenfalls über eine oder zwei Alkylgruppen im Molekül an den Imidazolstickstoff und die SiR'n(OR')n-3-Gruppe gebunden sein. Auch kann bzw. können ein oder mehrere H-Atome(e) durch andere Substituenten in der Cycloalkylengruppe ersetzt sein. Cycloalkyl bedeutet vorzugsweise Cyclopropyl, Cyclobutyl, Cylopentyl,
Cyclohexyl, Methylcyclopentyl, Cycloheptyl, Methylcyclohexyl, Cyclooktyl, 3-Menthyl oder Campher-10-yl (bicyclisches Terpen), Dekalin, Bicycloheptan, wobei diese Gruppen über ein oder zwei Alkylgruppen im Molekül an den Imidazolstickstoff und die SiR'n(OR')n-3- Gruppe gebunden sein können.
In diesem Fall bedeutet Cycloalkyl bevorzugt 1 ,2-Cyclopropyl, 1,2- oder 1 ,3-Cyclobutyl, 1 ,2- oder 1 ,3-Cyclopentyl, 1 ,2- , 1 ,3- oder 1 ,4- Cyclohexyl, ferner 1,2- , 1,3- oder 1,4-Cycloheptyl. Die genannten Gruppen können aber auch als R3 in substituierter oder unsubstituierter Form an den zweiten Imidazolstickstoff gebunden sein.
A kann auch eine ungesättigte Alkenyl- oder Alkinyl-Gruppe mit 2 - 20 C- Atomen sein, die sowohl an den Imidazol-Stickstoff als auch an die SiR'n(OR')n-3-Gruppe gebunden ist.
Alkenyl-Gruppen können geradkettig, verzweigte oder zyklische C2-C30- Alkenyle sein, vorzugsweise geradkettige, verzweigte zyklische C2-C9-
Alkenyle, besonders bevorzugt geradkettige oder verzweigte C2-C6-
Alkenyle.
Cycloalkenyl-Gruppen können geradkettig oder verzweigte C3-C30-
Cycloalkenyle sein, vorzugsweise C3-C9-Cycloalkenyle, besonders bevorzugt C3-C6-Cycloalkenyle.
Alkinyl-Gruppen können geradkettig oder verzweigte C2-C30-Alkinyle sein, vorzugsweise geradkettige oder verzweigte C2-C9-Alkinyle.
Sind Alkenyl, Cycloalkenyl oder Alkinyl Bestandteil des Kohlenwasserstoffrests R, weisen sie selbstverständlich die gleichen
Bedeutungen auf mit der Maßgabe, daß eine weitere Bindung vom Alkenyl oder vom Alkinyl zum nächsten Bindungsnachbarn im Molekül geknüpft ist.
Ar ist ein ein- oder mehrkerniger aromatischer Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 6 - 30 C-Atomen, der ein oder mehrfach substituiert oder unsubstituiert sein kann.
Arylgruppen können bevorzugt C6-C10-Aryle sein, vorzugsweise Phenyl oder Naphthyl. Alkylaryle können C7-C18-Alkylaryle sein, vorzugsweise Toluyl oder Mesityl.

Der Kohlenwasserstoffrest R nimmt ganz besonders bevorzugt Bedeutungen an, ausgewählt aus Verbindungen, welche zu den C1-C12-Alkylenen, C6-C14-Arylenen oder den C7-C20-Alkylarylenen zählen und davon insbesondere bevorzugt eine C1-C4-Alkylen-Kette aus der Reihe Methylen, Ethylen, Propylen und Butylen bzw. eine C6-C8-Arylen-Kette aus der Reihe - C6H4- und -C6H2Me2- bzw. eine C7-C9-Alkylaryl-Kette aus der Reihe - CH2C6H4-, -CH2C6H2Me2-, -CH2C6H4CH2- und -CH2C6H2Me2CH2- bedeuten.
R3 ist ein zyklischer Kohlenwasserstoff, der sich stabilisierend auf die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) im Vergleich zum Stand der Technik auswirkt. H-Atome in R3 können durch funktioneile Gruppen Z ersetzt sein.
Bevorzugt ist R3 ein zyklischer aliphatischer Kohlenwasserstoffrest A, wie oben beschrieben, ein aromatischer Kohlenwasserstoff Ar aus den oben aufgezählten Gruppen oder ein heterozyklischer Substituent Het wie oben definiert. Ganz bevorzugt ist R3 ein zyklischer aliphatischer oder aromatischer Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 6 - 18 C-Atomen. Aus dieser Gruppe von Verbindungen erwiesen sich die Reste Mesityl,
Triisopropylphenyl oder Cyclohexyl als besonders geeignet und führten zu besonders vorteilhaften Eigenschaften der hergestellten Verbindungen.
R1 , R2 und R4 können unabhängig voneinander H sein oder alle Bedeutungen von Hai, A , Ar und AAr, wie oben angegeben, annehmen, wobei in A und Ar H-Atome durch funktioneile Gruppen Z ersetzt sein können, und Hai F, Cl, Br oder I bedeuten können. Bevorzugt bedeutet in R1 , R2 und R4 Hai Cl oder Br. Insbesondere bevorzugt bedeuten R1, R2 und R4 unabhängig voneinander H, Cl, Br, geradkettiger, verzweigter,, gesättigter, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter Cι-C7-Alkylrest, wobei im Alkylrest ein oder mehrere H durch Z ersetzt sein können.
X ist ein Anion, das zum Ladungsausgleich der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) benötigt wird. X ist bevorzugt einfach geladen. Das Anion X kann jedes beliebige organische oder anorganische Anion sein, das zur Salzbildung mit den erfindungsgemäßen Imidazoliumverbindungen geeignet ist. Als einwertiges Anion kann es ein Hydroxyl, Halogenid (Hai) aus der Gruppe Br", Cl", J" und F", Pseudohalogenid wie Cyanid (CN") und Thiocyanat (SCN"), Chlorat (CIO3 ") Perchlorat (CIO4 "), Jodat (JO3 "), Perjodat (JO4 "), Bromat (BrO3 "), Perbromat (BrO4 "), ein Carbonsäureanion wie z. B. Reste mit den Bedeutungen OA, NHA, NAA', PAA', CN, NO2, SA, SOA, SO2A, oder SO2Ar, sein, wobei A, A' und A" unabhängig voneinander die Bedeutungen von A gemäß der gegebenen Definition annehmen können. Sie können Gruppen sein, die eine oder mehrere Alkohol- (OA), Aldehyd-, Carbonsäure-, Amin-,
Amid-, Imid-, Phosphin-, Ether- oder Thioether-Funktionen besitzen. Bevorzugt hat eine Gruppe Z die Bedeutung OA, NHA, NAA' und PAA'.
R1 , R2 und R4 können daher z.B. auch SO3H, F, Cl, ein Hydroxy, Alkanoyl- oder Cycloalkanoyl-Rest sein. Sie können Methoxy, Ethoxy, Propionyl, Butyryl, Pentanoyl, Hexanoyl, Heptanoyl, Octanoyl, Nonanoyl, Decanoyl, Undecanoyl, Dodecanoyl, Tridecanoyl, Tetradecanoyl, Pentadecanoyl, Hexadecanoyl, Heptadecanoyl oder Octadecanoyl bedeuten.
R1 , R2 und R4 können auch Acylreste sein. Vorzugsweise können R1 , R2, und R4 Acylreste mit 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, oder 10 C-Atomen sein und z.B. Formyl, Acetyl, Propionyl, Butyryl, Trifluoracetyl oder Benzoyl oder Naphthoyl bedeuten. Weiterhin können R1 , R2, und R4 Amino, Methylamino, Dimethylamino, Methylthio, Methylsulfinyl, Methylsulfonyl oder Phenylsulfonyl-Gruppen sein.
Es können auch in den Resten R1 , R2, R3 und R4 in Alkyl, Alkylen, Cycloalkyl, Cycloalkylen, Alkanoyl und Cycloalkanoyl jeweils eine, zwei- oder drei Methylengruppen durch N, O und/oder S ersetzt sein.
Eine Kohlenwasserstoff-Gruppe in R1 , R2 und R4 kann also die Bedeutungen von A, Ar oder AAr annehmen und eine Alkyl-, Alkenyl-, Aryl-, Alkylaryl- oder Alkinylgruppe wie oben definiert sein, worin ein oder mehrere H-Atome durch oben genannte funktionelle Gruppen Z ersetzt sein können.
Die für die Synthese der als Edukte benötigten R3-substituierten Imidazole für die Herstellung der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (I) lassen sich analog der in der Patentschrift US-A-6, 177,575 beschriebenen Synthesemethode analog der folgenden allgemeinen Reaktionsgleichung herstellen:

Die Synthese des Grundkörpers der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (II) (R3-substituiertes 4,5-Dihydroimidazol) kann nach Methoden erfolgen, welche in Tetrahedron Lett. 1980, 21, 885, Chem. Ber. 1965,98, 1342 und in DE-A-11 89 998 beschrieben sind.
Die Durchführung der Substitutiόnsreaktion am Imidazolring der allgemeinen Formel (III) bzw. am 4,5-Dihydroimidazolring der allgemeinen Formel (IV) durch Alkoxysilan-Gruppen der allgemeinen Formel (V) ist an sich unkritisch. Die Reaktion kann in einfacher Weise in Anlagen durchgeführt werden, in denen alle Teile und Vorrichtungen, die mit den Reaktionspartnern in Kontakt kommen, gegen die eingesetzten Chemikalien inert sind und keine Korrosions- oder Auslaugungserscheinungen zeigen. Entscheidend ist, dass die Anlage temperierbar ist, eine sichere Zu- und Abführung der
Reaktionspartner und Reaktionsprodukte bietet und Möglichkeiten zur intensiven Durchmischung der Reaktionslösung aufweist. Weiterhin sollte die Anlage es ermöglichen, unter Inertgasatmophäre zu arbeiten bzw. flüchtige Reaktionsprodukte sicher abzuleiten. Dementsprechend kann die Reaktion auch in einer Glasapparatur, ausgestattet mit Rührer, Zu- und gegebenenfalls Ablauf, mit Rückflußkühler oder Kondensationskühler mit Ablauf, durchgeführt werden, wenn diese Apparatur auch die Möglichkeit zur Überlagerung mit Inertgas bietet. Die Reaktion kann aber auch in einer technischen Anlage durchgeführt werden, die gegebenenfalls aus rostfreiem Stahl und anderen geeigneten inerten Materialien gefertigt ist und die erforderlichen Vorrichtungen zur Temperierung, Zu- und Abführung der Edukte und Produkte aufweist.
Üblicherweise wird die Reaktion im Batch-Betrieb durchgeführt, da die Substitutionsreaktion in den meisten Fällen langsam erfolgt. Wenn größere Mengen der gewünschten Produkte der allgemeinen Formeln (I) oder (II) hergestellt werden sollen und wenn es sich bei den
umzusetzenden Edukten um reaktive Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (III) und (IV) handelt, kann es sinnvoll sein, die Reaktion in einer entsprechenden Anlage durchzuführen, die für den kontinuierlichen Betrieb ausgelegt ist.

Die Herstellung der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) kann durch Umsetzung von R3-substituiertem Imidazol der allgemeinen Formel (III) bzw. R3-substituiertem 4,5-Dihydroimidazol der allgemeinen Formel (IV) mit Chlor-, Brom- oder lod-haltigen Alkoxysilanen Hal-R-SiR'n(OR')3-n ohne
10 Zugabe eines weiteren Lösemittels erfolgen. Es ist aber auch möglich, die Reaktion in einem inerten aprotischen organischen Lösungsmittel durchzuführen.
Als Edukte für die Herstellung der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) 15 und (II) werden geeignete 3-substituierte Imidazole der allgemeinen Formel (III) bzw. R3-substituierte 4,5-Dihydroimidazole der allgemeinen Formel (IV)

2„ eingesetzt. Diese bekannten Verbindungen lassen sich, wie oben bereits beschrieben, nach bekannten Methoden herstellen.
Die gebildeten Produkte lassen sich nach Beendigung der Reaktion als stabile Substanzen rein isolieren. Es entstehen dabei keine weiteren ,-,n Nebenprodukte. Das im Produkt zum Ladungsausgleich enthaltene
Halogenid-Anion kann durch Zugabe von Metallsalzen MXm in aprotischen Lösungsmitteln durch andere einwertige Anionen ausgetauscht oder addiert werden.

Zur Durchführung der Substitutionsreaktion können die Edukte gemeinsam in die Reaktionsapparatur gegeben werden und unter Inertgasatmosphäre bei guter Durchmischung bis auf die Reaktionstemperatur erhitzt werden. Die Reihenfolge der Zugabe der Komponenten kann beliebig gewählt werden. Die Ausgangsverbindungen können in einem geeigneten Lösungsmittel vorgelöst bzw. suspendiert oder ohne Lösungsmittel als Feststoff bzw. Flüssigkeit zugegeben werden.
Je nach Reaktivität des eingesetzten Imidazols der allgemeinen Formeln (III) oder (IV) erfolgt die Reaktion unter Einhaltung der Reaktionstemperatur innerhalb kurzer Zeit oder erfordert mehrere Tage. Die Reaktionszeit kannl 5 Minuten bis 7 Tage betragen. Vorzugsweise beträgt sie 30 Minuten bis 6 Tage und ganz bevorzugt 30 Minuten bis 5 Tage.
Als geeignete Lösungsmittel zur Durchführung der Reaktion können inerte aprotische Lösungsmittel verwendet werden.
Als inerte Lösungsmittel eignen sich z.B. Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Hexan, Petrolether, Benzol, Toluol oder Xylol; chlorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Trichlorethylen, 1 ,2-Dichlorethan, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Chloroform oder Dichlormethan; Alkohole wie Methanol, Ethanol, Isopropanol, n-Propanol, n- Butanol oder tert.-Butanol; Ether wie Diethylether, Diisopropylether,
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) oder Dioxan; Glykolether wie Ethylenglykolmonomethyl- oder -monoethylether (Methylglykol oder Ethylglykol), Ethylenglykoldimethylether (Diglyme); Ketone wie Aceton oder Butanon; Amide wie Acetamid, Dimethylacetamid oder Dimethylformamid (DMF); Nitrile wie Acetonitril; Sulfoxide wie Dimethylsulfoxid (DMSO); Schwefelkohlenstoff; Carbonsäuren wie Ameisensäure oder Essigsäure; Nitroverbindungen wie Nitromethan oder Nitrobenzol; Ester wie Ethylacetat, Wasser oder Gemische der genannten Lösungsmittel.
Besonders bevorzugt wird ein Lösungsmittel ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Kohlenwasserstoffe, chlorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe und Ether verwendet.
Die Reaktion wird bevorzugt unter Schutzgasatmosphäre durchgeführt. Zu diesem Zweck können Stickstoff oder Argon eingesetzt werden..
Das stöchiometrische Verhältnis der Edukte Heterozyklus zu Hal-R-
SiR'n(OR')3-n liegt Zwischen 1 :1 und 1:10, vorzugsweise zwischen 1:1 und 1:3 und besonders bevorzugt zwischen 1:1 und 1 :2.
Die Reaktion kann in einem Temperaturbereich von 20 bis + 200 °C, vorzugsweise von 20 bis 100 °C und ganz bevorzugt zwischen 60 und 100 °C erfolgen. Die höchsten Ausbeuten werden bei der Siedetemperatur von Hal-R-SiR'n(OR')3-n erhalten.
Nach Entfernung der flüchtigen Bestandteile im Hochvakuum wird das Rohprodukt durch Extraktion oder Kristallisation aufgereinigt. Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) lassen sich als Substanzen rein isolieren und lassen sich anschließend analytisch und spektroskopisch charakterisieren.
Das Halogenid-Anion in den erhaltenen Verbindungen kann durch Zugabe von Metallsalzen MXm (M = Metallion, X = bevorzugt einwertiges Anion, m entspricht der stoichiometrischen Wertigkeit von M, bevorzugt 1 , 2 oder 3) in inerten aprotischen Lösungsmitteln, bevorzugt halogenierte bzw. teilweise halogenierte Kohlenwasserstoffe, durch andere bevorzugt einwertige Anionen unter Bildung der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) ausgetauscht oder addiert werden.
ln MXm kann M ein Metallion, ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Li, Na, K, AI, Cu, Ag und Au sein. Bevorzugt handelt es sich um Salze der Metalle Li, Na, K und AI. X kann alle oben gegebenen Bedeutungen annehmen. Bevorzugt bedeutet X Methylsulfat (CH3SO4 "), Methansulfonat (CH3SO3 "), Ethylsulfat (C2H5SO4 "),
Thiosulfat (S2O3 ") Phosphorhexafluorid (PF6 "), Bortetrafluorid (BF4 "), AICI4 ", (CF3SO2)2N", Triflaf [(CF3SO3 ")Trifluormethansulfonaf], Chlorat (CIO3 "), Borat" (BO3 "), Tosylat", Phenylsulfonat (C6H5OSO3 "), Benzoat (C7H5O2 ") oder Ammoniumsulfat (NH4SO4 "). Insbesondere bevorzugt werden die Li-, Na-, K- und AI-Salze dieser Anionen eingesetzt.
Ganz besonders bevorzugt werden die Li-, Na-, K- und AI-Salze des Methylsulfats (CH3SO4 "), Methansulfonats (CH3SO3 "), Phosphorhexafluorids (PF6 "), Bortetrafluorids (BF4 "), Triflats" [(CF3SO3 ")Trifluormethansulfonaf] oder, Borats" (BO3 ") verwendet.
Das bei einem Austausch entstehende Nebenprodukt M-Hal kann durch Filtration abgetrennt werden, oder das Produkt wird durch Extraktion vom Nebenprodukt abgetrennt.
Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) sind im Vergleich zu entsprechenden Verbindungen des Standes der Technik auf anorganischen Oxiden immobilisierbar und gewähren durch den vorhandenen sterisch anspruchsvollen zyklischen Liganden am Stickstoff-Atom des Heterozyklus eine sterisch hohe Beanspruchung des Moleküls, die zu einer höheren Stabilität führt. Damit werden sie zu optimalen Ausgangsstoffen für die Synthese von stabilen und immobilisierbaren NHC-Liganden für die Übergangsmetallkatalyse. Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) sind thermisch sehr stabil. Sie besitzen höhere Schmelz- und Zersetzungspunkte im Vergleich zu den immobilisierbaren, aber sterisch wenig anspruchsvollen Verbindungen des Stands der Technik. Sie sind in einfacher Weise in quantitativen Ausbeuten zugänglich.
Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) dienen als Ausgangsstoffe für die Herstellung immobilisierter Imidazolium- und 4,5- Dihydroimidazoliumsalze. Weiterhin dienen die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Ausgangsstoffe zur Herstellung von
immobilisierbaren Katalysatorliganden insbesondere von NHC- Katalysatorliganden (N-heterozyklische Carbene). Weiterhin können die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) auch als Katalysatorvorstufen und Katalysatoren in der organischen Synthese dienen. Sie können aber auch als Reaktionsmedien/Lösungsmittel in organischen, metallorganischen und Übergangsmetali-katalysierten Reaktionen wie Hydrierungen, Oxidationen, Hydroformylierungen, Kupplungsreaktionen oder Oligomerisierungen eingesetzt werden.
Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) können als Lösungsmittel in 2-Phasen-Reaktionen dienen. Sie können aber auch zur Herstellung von immobilisierten ionischen Flüssigkeiten oder selbst als ionische Flüssigkeiten verwendet werden.
Die Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) lassen sich auf anorganischen Oxiden, die aktive OH-Gruppen an der Oberfläche aufweisen, immobilisieren. Als anorganische Oxide können natürliche oder chemisch hergestellte partikuläre Oxide des Siliziums, Bors, Aluminium, Titan und des Zirkoniums oder deren Oxidmischungen verwendet werden. Bei den Silizium- haltigen Materialien kann es sich um ein Kieselgel oder natürlich vorkommendes Silikat handeln, welche sich von ketten-, band- und schichtförmigen Kieselsäuren ableiten. Vorzugsweise werden die Oxide des Siliziums und Zeolithe eingesetzt.
4. Beispiele
Zum besseren Verständnis und zur Verdeutlichung der Erfindung werden im folgenden Beispiele gegeben, die im Rahmen des Schutzbereichs der vorliegenden Erfindung liegen. Diese sind jedoch aufgrund der allgemeinen Gültigkeit des beschriebenen Erfindungsprinzips nicht geeignet, den Schutzbereich der vorliegenden Anmeldung nur auf diese Beispiele zu reduzieren.
Beispiel 1 Synthese von " -Mesityl-3- [3-(triethoxysiIyl)propyl]imidazoliumchlorid
ln einen Kolben mit Rückflußkühler werden unter Argonatmosphäre 18.63 g (0.1 mol) 1-Mesitylimidazol und 26.49 g (0.11 mol) 3- Chlorpropyltriethoxysilan gegeben. Die Mischung wird 5 Tage bei 90 °C unter Rückfluß gekocht. Die flüchtigen Bestandteile werden im Vakuum entfernt. Diese wird solange mit Petrolether gewaschen, bis die Waschlösung farblos bleibt. Es wird am Vakuum getrocknet. Das Produkt wird als hellbrauner Feststoff erhalten.
Schmelzpunkt: 135 °C. C2ιH35CIN2O3Si (426.21 g/mol). Synthese von 1 -Mesityl-3-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]imidazoliumtriflat
(Anionenaustausch)
In einem Kolben werden unter Argonatmosphäre 500 mg (1.17 mmol) 1-
Mesityl-3-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]imidazoliumchlorid und 243 mg (1.29 mmol) Kaliumtrifluormethansulfonat in 30 ml CH2CI2 gelöst und 2 Stunden bei 25°C gerührt. Der entstandene Niederschlag wird von der Lösung durch Filtration abgetrennt. Die flüchtigen Bestandteile der Lösung werden im Vakuum entfernt. Der Rückstand wird mehrmals mit Heptan gewaschen und im Vakuum getrocknet. Das Produkt wird als hellbrauner Feststoff erhalten.

Beispiel 3 Synthese von 1-Mesityl-3-[4-(trimethoxysilyl)benzyl]imidazoliumchlorid
In einen Stickstoff kolben werden unter Argonatmosphäre 10.00 g (54 mmol) 1-Mesitylimidazol und 14.66 g (59 mmol) (p-
Chloromethyl)phenyltrimethoxysilan gegeben und über Nacht bei 80 °C gekocht. Es entsteht eine dunkelbraune Lösung, die nach ca. 30 Minuten zu einer festen Substanz wird. Diese wird in CH2CI2 gelöst und am Vakuum soweit eingeengt, das eine dunkelbraune zähflüssige Substanz zurück bleibt. Diese wird mehrmals mit Heptan gewaschen. Es wird am Vakuum getrocknet. Das Produkt erhält man als hellbraunes Pulver.

Synthese von 1 -Mesityl-3-[4-(trimethoxysilyl)benzyl]imidazoliumtrif lat
in einen Stickstoffkolben werden 3 g (6.93 mol) 1 -Mesityl-3-[4-
(trimethoxysilyl)benzyl]imidazoliumchlorid, 1.43 g (7.62 mol) Kaliumtriflat
(Kaliumtrifluormethansulfonat und 50 ml CH2CI2 gegeben. Es wird 3 h bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Der entstandene Niederschlag wird von der Lösung durch Filtration abgetrennt. Die flüchtigen Bestandteile der Lösung werden am Vakuum entfernt. Der Rückstand wird mehrmals mit Diethylether gewaschen und am Vakuum getrocknet. Das Produkt wird als braunes
Pulver erhalten.

2. Verbindungen gemäß Anspruch 1 der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II), worin R A, Ar, A-Ar, A-Ar-A, Het, AHet, AHetA mit insgesamt nicht mehr als 30 C-Atomen
R' unabhängig von der Stellung im Molekül geradkettiger, verzweigter, gesättigter, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter CrC7-Alkylrest,
R3 A, Ar, AAr, AArA, Het, AHet, AHetA mit 6 - 18 C-Atomen, worin der nicht an Ar oder Het gebundene Rest A ein unsubstituiertes oder durch eine oder mehrere Gruppen Z substituiertes Cycloalkyl ist, und
Ar unsubstituierter oder ein ein- oder mehrfach durch eine Gruppe Z substituierter aromatische Kohlenwasserstoff, und Het gesättigter, ungesättigter oder aromatischer Heterocyclus, welcher ein- oder mehrfach durch eine Gruppe Z substituiert sein kann und
R1 , R2 und R4 unabhängig voneinander H, Cl, Br oder
geradkettiger, verzweigter, gesättigter, ein- oder mehrfach ungesättigter C-|-C7-Alkylrest, X einfach geladenes organisches oder anorganisches salzbildendes Anion Z A und n 0 bedeuten und A, Ar und Het die in Anspruch 1 gegebenen Bedeutungen0 haben.
3. Verbindungen gemäß Anspruch 1 der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II), worin
R A, Ar, A-Ar, A-Ar-A, mit insgesamt nicht mehr 5 als 20 C-Atomen mit
A geradkettiger oder verzweigter, gesättigter, CrC-io-Alkylrest, Cycloalkyl mit 3 - 10 C-Atomen oder über eine oder zwei Alkylgruppe(n) gebundenes C4-C2o-Cycloalkyl, 0 Ar ein- oder mehrfach substituiertes oder undsubstituiertes Phenyl, wobei Substituenten die Bedeutungen von A annehmen können und R insgesamt nicht mehr als 20 C-Atome besitzt,
R' unabhängig von der Stellung im Molekül geradkettiger, 5 verzweigter, gesättigter, CrC7-Alkylrest,
R3 A mit der Bedeutung eines unsubstituierten oder durch eine oder mehrere Gruppen Z substituierten Cycloalkyls, oder Q Ar unsubstituierter oder durch Z = A substituierter aromatischer
Kohlenwasserstoff
R1 , R2 und R4 unabhängig voneinander H, oder geradkettiger, verzweigter, gesättigter Cι-C7-Alkylrest, 5 X einfach geladenes organisches oder anorganisches salzbildendes
Anion
Z A und n 0 bedeuten und A und Ar die in Anspruch 1 gegebenen Bedeutungen haben.
4. Verbindungen gemäß Anspruch 1 der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II), worin R' unabhängig von der Stellung im Molekül
Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl, Isopropyl, Butyl, Isobutyl, sec- oder tert.-Butyl, Pentyl, 1-, .2- oder 3-Methylbutyl (-C5H10-), 1 ,1- , 1 ,2- oder 2,2-Dimethylpropyl (-C5H10-), 1-Ethylpropyl (-C5H10-), Hexyl (-C6H12-), 1- , 2- , 3- oder 4-Methylpentyl (-C6H12-), 1 , 1 - , 1 ,2- , 1 ,3- , 2,2- , 2,3- oder 3,3-Dimethylbuty! (-C6H12-), 1- oder 2-Ethylbutyl (-C6H12-), 1-Ethyl-1-methylpropyl (-C6H 2-), 1 -Ethyl-2-methylpropyl (-C6Hι2-), 1 ,1 ,2- oder 1 ,2,2-Trimethylpropyl (-C6Hι2-), Heptyl, oder Octyl bedeutet.
5. Verbindungen gemäß Anspruch 1 der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II), worin R A, Ar, A-Ar, mit
A geradkettiger, gesättigter CrC10-Alkylrest,
C3-C6-Cycloalkyl oder
Ar Phenyl, unsubstituiert oder ein- oder mehrfach durch Z = A substituiert R' unabhängig von der Stellung im Molekül geradkettiger oder verzweigter gesättigter, CrC4-Alkylrest, R3 A mit der Bedeutung eines Cycloalkyls, oder
Ar unsubstituierter oder ein- oder mehrfach durch Z = A
substituierter aromatischer Kohlenwasserstoff R1 , R2 und R4 H, X einfach geladenes organisches oder anorganisches salzbildendes
Anion und n 0 bedeuten und A und Ar die in Anspruch 1 gegebenen Bedeutungen haben.

9. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die 25 Reaktion unter Schutzgasatmosphäre durchgeführt wird.
10. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Reaktion unter Stickstoff oder Argon als Schutzgasatmosphäre durchgeführt wird.
11. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zur
30 Durchführung der Reaktion das stöchiometrische Verhältnis der Edukte Heterozyklus zu Hal-R-SiR'n(OR')3-n in einem Bereich zwischen 1 :1 und 1 :10 eingestellt wird.
12. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die
35 Reaktion bei einer Temperatur im Bereich zwischen 20 bis + 200 °C,
vorzugsweise von 20 bis 100 °C und ganz bevorzugt zwischen 60 und 100 °C durchgeführt wird.
13. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Ausgangsstoff für die Herstellung immobilisierter Imidazolium- und 4,5- Dihydroimidazoliumsalzen.
14. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Ausgangsstoffe für die Herstellung von immobilisierbaren Katalysatorliganden, immobilisierbaren Katalysator-Vorstufen, o immobilisierbarenen Katalysatoren oder immobilisierbaren N-
Heterozyklischen Carben-Liganden.
15. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Katalysatoren in organischen oder metallorganischen und Übergangsmetali-katalysierten Reaktionen. 5
16. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Reaktionsmedien oder als Lösungsmittel in organischen oder metallorganischen und Übergangsmetali-katalysierten Reaktionen wie Hydrierungen, Oxidationen, Hydroformylierungen, Kupplungsreaktionen0 oder Oligomerisierungen.
17. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Lösungsmittel in 2-Phasen-Reaktionen.
18. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als5 Ausgangsstoffe zur Herstellung von immobilisierten ionischen
Flüssigkeiten.
19. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als ionische Flüssigkeiten.
20. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als0 Ausgangsstoffe für immobilisierte Reaktionsmedien.
21. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (I) und (II) als Separationsmedien zur Auftrennung von Stoffgemischen und als Medium zur Aufreinigung von Reaktiönsprodukten (Scavenger-5 Funktion).
