Abstract

Connecting device between a vertical post (3) and two consecutive filler elements (5) of a railing forming between them a given angle, each element comprising a flat panel (6), capped by horizontal rails (7) , characterized in that it comprises a first triangular flange (17) whose apex angle is equal to that formed by the two filler elements, with bearing surfaces (19, 20) on the rails and a contact surface (21) with the post (3), a second flange (18) surrounding the post and having two end extensions (24) engaging in open grooves (14) of the rails and mutual clamping means ( 27,28) of the two flanges (17,18) against each other so as to simultaneously block between them the vertical post (3) and the rails (7).

Description

  • The present invention relates to the assembly of a support post disposed near the junction between two consecutive filler elements of a railing, whose planes form between them a given angle, and more particularly relates to a device which makes it possible to ensure the assembly and the connection between this post and these elements.
  • Many railings are already known, that is to say of a structure erected above a ground support surface, generally horizontal, of the terrace, balcony or similar kind, with a view to provide protection against the vacuum present outside this structure.
  • These railings are usually constituted by means of a set of vertical poles, anchored or otherwise fixed to the ground, spaced from one another according to the transverse dimension of the zone to be protected and between which are mounted filling elements mainly comprising flat panels, transparent or not, fixed laterally to the posts and delimited in a conventional manner, in the upper and lower part, by smooth parallel to the ground, the upper ends of the posts being joined by a handrail, also horizontal.
  • These railings thus form a substantially continuous assembly, disposed near the edge of the ground support surface to form a protective barrier, the latter may, however, have changes of direction to follow the outer profile of this surface, to which cases the planes of two consecutive panels of the filling elements form between them a determined angle, imposed by construction.
  • In conventional railing constructions, in order to accommodate angle returns of this kind, two vertical support posts are used in the vicinity of the angle formed by two successive filling elements not located in the same plane. separate, respectively associated with the one and the other of the panels of these elements, which constitutes an unsightly solution.
  • Moreover, these posts, respectively associated with the two filling elements and which are necessarily arranged on either side of the vertex of the angle formed by the two corresponding panels and at the junction of these as part of the current guard body, have a higher cost due in particular to the doubling of the number of parts required.
  • The invention aims to achieve the assembly between a single support post, identical to those used in the current portion but disposed in the immediate vicinity of the angle formed by two consecutive filling elements of a railing, with a device simple and inexpensive, easy to assemble and ensuring a safe and effective connection.
  • For this purpose, the connecting device considered, between a vertical support post for two consecutive filling elements of a railing, extending symmetrically from one another on either side of the post and the vertical planes form between them a given angle whose apex is arranged in the immediate vicinity of this post, each filling element comprising a flat panel, transparent or not, capped at each of its respective upper and lower edges by hollow sections forming horizontal bars, the positioning of these rails being symmetrical with respect to a plane which contains the bisector of the angle formed by the two filling elements in line with the vertical post, is characterized in that it comprises a first flange, of generally triangular shape, whose angle at the top is equal to that formed by the two filling elements, this first flange having two bearing surfaces, respectively for each of the smooth opposite these two elements and, on the opposite side, a contact surface with the vertical post, a second flange having a central opening adapted to laterally surround the vertical post, the second flange having two front extensions adapted to engage in open grooves provided in the hollow sections covering the panels of the filling elements to secure the rails of the second flange , and mutual clamping means of the two flanges against each other to block simultaneously between them, on the one hand the vertical pole in contact with the contact surface of the first flange and, secondly, the smooth panels secured to the second flange by its front extensions.
  • Preferably, each of the hollow sections forming the horizontal rails comprises a second open groove, parallel to that which receives an extension of the second flange, this second groove accommodating the edge of the panel capped by this section.
  • According to a particular characteristic, the open grooves of the hollow sections forming the horizontal rails, receiving the front extensions of the second flange, comprise locking fingers cooperating with anchoring grooves formed in these extensions in order to immobilize them. mutually together.
  • According to yet another characteristic, the central opening of the second flange comprises two protruding flanges, adapted to be arranged in recessed portions provided on each side of the vertical post so as to be positioned with respect to this post according to the bisector of the angle formed by the two filling elements.
  • Advantageously, the vertical post has a cross section at I, the recessed portions being formed between the central branch of the I and its transverse branches.
  • According to another characteristic, the mutual clamping means of the two flanges are constituted by two locking screws cooperating respectively with two threaded holes formed in the second flange, the end of these screws bearing against the recessed parts formed on each side. of the central branch of the vertical post I, itself supported by one of its transverse branches on the contact surface with the first flange.
  • In a preferred embodiment, the planes of the panels of the two filling elements form between them an angle of 90 °, the vertical post being symmetrically disposed along the bisector of this angle.
  • Other characteristics of a connecting device established in accordance with the invention will become apparent from the following description of an exemplary embodiment, given by way of non-limiting indication, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
    • Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a guardrail, comprising a single vertical angle post, adapted to ensure the connection with two external fillers making an angle of 90 ° between them.
    • FIG. 2 is a partial perspective view of a vertical post and means for connecting it with the smoothing plates of the flat panels belonging to the filler elements of the railing, arranged on either side of the post, as shown in Figure 1.
    • Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view, on a larger scale, of the two flanges involved in the realization of the connecting means.
    • Figure 4 is a perspective view of the assembly made using the two flanges.
  • In FIG. 1, the reference 1 designates, as a whole, a railing erected vertically at the outer edge of a ground support structure 2, the most generally horizontal, of a terrace, balcony or other similar construction, so that to protect people or objects on the latter and in particular to prevent them from falling into the void existing beyond this edge.
  • Conventionally, this railing 1 is constituted by means of vertical posts 3, suitably spaced from one to the other along the length of the railing, each of these posts being directly anchored to its lower part in the surface support 2 or cooperating with a base 4, secured to the latter.
  • Between two successive vertical posts 3, the railing 1 comprises filling elements 5, which may be constituted as illustrated in FIG. 1, or may have a layout that is materially different from one embodiment to the other.
  • In the embodiment shown, each filling element 5 comprises, in the simplest manner, a flat central panel 6, of preferably made of a transparent material, in particular of plastic or resistant glass, this panel forming a substantially continuous surface between two consecutive vertical posts 3 in the railing, each panel 6 being secured to these posts along their lateral sides by means appropriate (not shown in the figure) that do not matter to the present invention when they ensure the connection of the poles and panels in the current part and right of the railing.
  • Also conventionally, each panel 6 of a filling element 5 is delimited, according to its upper and lower edges, by horizontal rails, 7 and 8, respectively, which thus extend parallel to the ground support surface 2 and which are advantageously constituted here by hollow metal profiles which cap the edges forming the corresponding end edges of the panel 6.
  • Finally, the guardrail comprises as usual a handrail 9, schematically illustrated in the drawing, which extends all along the railing and fits on the upper part of the various vertical posts 3, above the slats 7 delimiting the upper edges of the panels 6.
  • As required, the railing thus formed can be arranged so that two of its successive panels 6, belonging to two consecutive filling elements 5, are arranged, not in the extension of one another to lie in a common vertical plane, but are oriented so that these panels form between them a given angle, imposed by the outer contour of the ground support surface 2, on the right of which is erected the guardrail.
  • The invention relates to the means which make it possible to ensure the relative positioning and the fixing of two consecutive panels 6 with a single vertical post 3, when the planes of these panels form between them a determined angle whose value is in itself indifferent. , this single post being disposed in the immediate vicinity of the angle thus formed and having a clean structure strictly identical to that of the other posts used in the current part of the railing,
  • In particular, if, as in the example especially considered and shown in FIG. 1, the flat panels 6 of the two consecutive filler elements 5 of the railing form between them an angle of 90 °, the invention is not limited in any way to such an angular disposition, but can adapt to any other value of this angle with simple changes in the shape of the parts used, as described below, to achieve the connection between the vertical post and these panels.
  • Figures 2, 3 and 4 illustrate, on a larger scale, the detail of the embodiment of the connection means between the post 3 and the panels 6 of two consecutive filling elements 5, at an angle formed by these panels to inside the railing 1.
  • In these figures, there is the vertical post 3 which, in the example considered, is constituted by a metal element whose cross section substantially matches that of an I with a central branch 10 and two transverse end branches, respectively 11 and 12.
  • In the drawing, also appear the upper horizontal rails 7 of two consecutive elements 5 in the railing forming between them an angle here at 90 °, these smooth being shaped so that their ends 13, cut in miter, can abut each other in the angle formed, according to the bisecting plane of this angle which also constitutes a plane of symmetry for the vertical post 3.
  • Each of the slats 7 is formed by a hollow metal section, made of aluminum or other suitable material, and has two mutually parallel grooves 14 and 15, the groove 15, disposed towards the outside of the groove. smooth with respect to the vertical post 3, being arranged to receive the upper edge of the flat panel 6 which cooperates with this rail in one or the other of the two consecutive filling elements 5 of the guardrail.
  • Identical arrangements are provided for the horizontal rails 8 which similarly cover the lower edge of the same panel 6, these rails are not shown in the figures to avoid overloading the drawing.
  • The positioning and immobilization of the horizontal rails 7 and 8 which are thus integral with the panels 6 in the two elements 5 vis-à-vis the vertical post 3, are effected, at each of these smooth, by a device of link established in accordance with the invention and designated as a whole in Figures 2 to 4 under the reference 16.
  • This device essentially comprises two fixing clamps designated respectively under the references 17 for the first and 18 for the second.
  • The first flange 17 has, as illustrated in FIG. 3, a triangular section whose apex angle is equal to that of the two elements. filling 5 of the railing.
  • The corresponding faces 19 and 20 of this first flange 17 constitute flat bearing surfaces for the outer edges of the metal profiles forming the upper horizontal rails 7 of the panels 6 of the two filler elements 5, to be secured to the vertical post 3 disposed in the angle formed by these smooth.
  • The flange 17 furthermore has, in contrast to the flat bearing surfaces 19 and 20, a contact surface 21 with the vertical post 3, and in the embodiment shown, with the transverse branch 12 of this post which can thus be tightly applied against the bridle.
  • The second flange 18 has a central opening 22, so that it can partially surround the vertical post 3, this opening having protruding flanges 50, adapted to be disposed behind the recessed portions of the vertical post 3.
  • This second flange 18 is extended by a median surface 23 (FIG. 2) on which manufacture or otherwise reported and fixed, in particular by welding or other suitable method, two end extensions 24 whose respective directions form the same angle as the slats 7, so that these extensions can be housed in the grooves 14 of the latter thus standing parallel to the panels 6 whose edges of the upper edges themselves enter the other grooves 15 of these smooth, as described above.
  • The second flange 18 has a bearing surface 23 from which extend the extensions 24, each of which has an anchor groove 25. The heal 7 is provided with a finger 26 provided in the edge of the groove 14, which engages in this groove in order to tightly block the rail against the extension and as a result of the second flange 18, avoiding that the filling elements can tear off the assembly during possible shocks.
  • The second flange 18 finally comprises, as can be seen in detail in FIG. 3, two threaded holes 27, formed in positions symmetrical to each other with respect to the vertical post and receiving clamping screws 28.
  • These screws 28 each comprise an axial recess 29 for a control key (not shown) allowing them to be screwed into the bores 27, so that their ends bear against the recessed portions 30 formed on each side of the central branch 12 of the I vertical post 3.
  • Figures 2 and 3 make it possible to immediately understand the assembly and implementation of the two flanges to ensure the immobilization of the smooth 7 (or 8) supporting the panels 6 of the filling elements 5 with the vertical post 3.
  • The second flange 18 surrounding the post 3 is made integral with the two smooth to immobilize, by engaging its extensions 24 in the grooves 14 of these smooth, with locking of the latter through the engagement of the fingers 26 in the anchoring grooves 25 of these extensions.
  • The first flange 17 is simultaneously mounted in abutment against the vertical post 3 by its contact face 21, the rails then being applied against its bearing surfaces 19 and 20.
  • The clamping screws 28 are then manipulated in the threaded passages 27 of the flange 18, until, by pressing their ends on the post 3, they cause the simultaneous approximation of the two flanges 17 and 18 and the mutual interlocking of the pole 3, until locking in position of the two smooth integral with the second flange.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates the final position of the various elements that constitute the device according to the invention, with the two flanges mutually locked together, by immobilizing the vertical post 3 on the heddles carrying the panels 6 of the filling elements 5.
  • A very simple device is thus produced which makes it possible, with a very small number of parts, to connect these consecutive filling elements with a single post arranged in the angle formed by the panels of these elements, this post being strictly identical to those used. in the running part of the railing.
  • Of course, it goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment more specifically described above and shown in the accompanying drawings; on the contrary, it embraces all variants.

Claims (7)

  1. Connecting device between a vertical support post (3) for two consecutive filler elements (5) of a railing, extending symmetrically from one another on either side of the post and whose vertical planes form between them a given angle whose vertex is disposed in the immediate vicinity of this post, each filling element comprising a flat panel (6), transparent or not, capped at each of its respective upper and lower edges by hollow sections forming horizontal slats (7,8), the positioning of these slats being symmetrical with respect to a plane which contains the bisector of the angle formed by the two filling elements (5) to the right of the vertical post, characterized in that it comprises a first flange (17) of generally triangular shape, the apex angle is equal to that formed by the two filling elements, this first flange having two bearing surfaces (19,20), respectively for each of the rails opposite these two elements and, conversely, a contact surface (21) with the vertical pole (3), a second flange (18) having a central opening (22) able to surround laterally the vertical post, this second flange having two front extensions (24) adapted to engage in open grooves (14) provided in the hollow sections covering the panels (6) of the filling elements (5) to secure these rails of this second flange, and mutual clamping means (27,28) of the two flanges (17,18) against each other so as to block simultaneously between them, on the one hand the vertical post (3) in contact with the contact surface of the first flange and, on the other hand, the smooth (7,8) of the panels secured to the second flange (18) by its front extensions (24).
  2. Connecting device according to claim 1, characterized in that each of the hollow profiles forming the horizontal rails (7,8) comprises a second open groove (15), parallel to that (14) which receives an extension (24) of the second flange (18), this second groove accommodating the edge of the panel (6) capped by this section.
  3. Connecting device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the open grooves (14, 15) of the hollow sections forming the horizontal rails (7, 8), receiving the front extensions (24) of the second flange (18), comprise locking fingers (26), cooperating with anchoring grooves (25) formed in these extensions to mutually immobilize them together.
  4. Connecting device according to claim 1, characterized in that the central opening (22) of the second flange comprises two projecting flanges (50) adapted to be arranged in recessed portions (30) provided on each side of the post vertical (3) to position itself vis-à-vis the post along the bisector of the angle formed by the two filler elements.
  5. Connecting device according to claim 4, characterized in that the vertical post has a cross section I, the recessed portions (30) being formed between the central leg (10) of I and its transverse branches (11,12).

Connecting device according to claims 1 and 5, characterized in that the mutual clamping means of the two flanges (17,18) are constituted by two locking screws (28) cooperating respectively with two threaded holes (27) formed in the second flange (18), the end of these screws abutting against the recessed portions (30) formed on each side of the central branch (10) of the vertical post (3), itself supported by one of its transverse branches (10) on the contact surface (21) with the first flange (17).
  7. Connecting device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the planes of the panels (6) of the two filling elements (5) form between them an angle of 90 °, the vertical post being symmetrically arranged along the bisector of this angle.
