  • the term "convenience rolls” used herein is intended to cover products of an essentially disposable nature intended primarily, though not necessarily exclusively, for a cleaning or hygienic function, whether made of paper or of other materials, whether absorbent or not, and whether normally presented in a dry, moist or wet condition, and would therefore include, for example, tissues, kitchen rolls, lavatory rolls, hand towels, face towels, cleaning wipes and baby wipes.

The frangible strips 12 thus act as controlled breaking points for when each individual portion 11 is to be separated from its neighbour on dispensing.

It will be appreciated that the presence of the frangible strips obviates the need for any perforations across the web, the traditional method of assisting separation between successive individual portions in a conventional roll of paper towels.

  • Figure 9 shows a dispenser 90 suitable for containing the stack 80 shown in Figure 8 , and it is in the form of a generally round case.

  • a more elaborate folding arrangement would involve additionally folding each individual portion 11 about its diameter extending across the web 10, ie along fold line B in Figure 1 . This would produce a stack of individual portions with a generally semi-circular section.
  • a yet more sophisticated folding arrangement would involve folding each individual portion 11 along three diametrically extending fold lines. As will be seen in Figure 1 , one of these is fold line B extending across the web. The other two, fold lines C and D, are each offset by approximately 45° to fold line B. Each individual portion 11 is folded downwardly about its fold line B and folded upwardly about its two other fold lines C and D, as seen in Figure 2 . The result is that each individual portion 11 is folded into a flat, multilayered configuration in the shape of a quarter circle. If this folding action is applied to each individual portion 11 in succession, the result is a stack of folded individual portions having a generally quadrant-shaped section, as seen in Figure 3 .
  • Figures 5 and 6 illustrate possible alternative profiles, not falling under the scope of claim 1, for the shape of the individual portions of the web.

Claims (12)

  1. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante sous la forme d'une bande (10) de matériau/matière comprenant une multiplicité de portions individuelles (11) raccordées solidairement ensemble en série, dans lequel chaque portion individuelle est formée pour avoir une aire qui est inférieure au produit de sa largeur globale à travers la bande multipliée par sa longueur le long de la bande, des portions individuelles voisines étant raccordées ensemble par une zone fragile de matériau (12) dont la largeur à travers la bande est petite par rapport à la largeur globale de la bande de façon à agir comme un point de cassure maîtrisée lorsqu'une portion individuelle doit être séparé de sa voisine lors d'une distribution, et dans lequel la bande est pliée sous la forme d'une pile de portions individuelles pour distribution, caractérisé en ce que les portions individuelles (11) ont chacune une forme générale circulaire, et chaque portion individuelle est pliée autour d'une pluralité de lignes de pli (B, C, D) s'étendant radialement de façon à produire une pile avec une section en forme générale de quadrant.
  2. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon la revendication 1, dans lequel ladite zone fragile (12) a une épaisseur à travers la bande (10) de moins de la moitié de la largeur globale de la bande.
  3. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon la revendication 1 ou la revendication 2, dans lequel ladite zone fragile (12) se présente sous la forme d'une seule bande de matériau dans la section milieu de la bande (10).
  4. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la bande (10) est pliée au niveau des zones fragiles (12) entre des portions individuelles voisines (11).
  5. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel une première (B) desdites lignes de pli (B, C, D) s'étendant radialement est agencée pour s'étendre à travers le milieu de chaque portion individuelle (11).
  6. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon la revendication 5, dans lequel les deuxième (C) et troisième (D) lignes de pli s'étendant radialement sont agencées à un angle de 45° par rapport à l'un ou l'autre côté de ladite première ligne de pli (B) sur chaque portion individuelle (11), chaque portion individuelle étant pliée autour des deuxième et troisième lignes de pli dans le même sens, tout en étant pliée autour de ladite première ligne de pli dans le sens opposé.
  7. Rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon la revendication 6, dans lequel chaque portion individuelle (11) est agencée pour avoir une quatrième ligne de pli (E) s'étendant radialement alignée avec l'axe longitudinal de la bande (10), permettant de ce fait de plier chaque portion individuelle selon un motif de type éventail.
  8. Distributeur avec un rouleau de produit de consommation courante tel que revendiqué dans l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, permettant de maintenir une seule pile, dans lequel le distributeur (130) est configuré avec une section en forme de quadrant et convient à un montage en coin.
  9. Distributeur avec un rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, dans lequel le distributeur (140) comporte deux compartiments séparés (141, 142) ou plus, chacun pour contenir une pile.
  10. Distributeur selon la revendication 9, dans lequel un compartiment (141, 142) contient une pile sèche et l'autre contient une pile moite ou humide.
  11. Distributeur selon la revendication 9 ou la revendication 10, dans lequel le distributeur (140) est configuré avec une section semi-circulaire.
  12. Distributeur avec un rouleau de produit de consommation courante selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, dans lequel le distributeur (150) comporte quatre compartiments (13) chacun pour contenir une pile et le distributeur est configuré avec une section circulaire.
