Die Erfindung beruht darauf, dass an einer Traverse angeordnete Tragelemente für einen Hilfsstapel in mindestens zwei Freiheitsgraden gelenkig an der Traverse befestigt sind. Die Erfindung ist besonders vorteilhaft bei Vorrichtungen anwendbar, bei denen als Tragelemente gelenkig verbundene Glieder verwendet werden, die auf einer gekrümmten Bahn beweglich sind. Bei dieser Variante beansprucht die Vorrichtung ein geringes Volumen. Die Enden der Tragelemente können über Gelenke in Aussparungen der Traverse befestigt sein. Die Wände einer Aussparung können gleichzeitig Anschläge für die Bewegung eines Tragelementes bilden. Um mit möglichst wenigen Zwangskräften arbeiten zu können, kann ein Tragelement über ein Gelenk mit einer Traverse gekoppelt sein, welches eine Bewegung in vier Freiheitsgraden zulässt. Insbesondere kann zwischen Traverse und einem Tragelement ein Kreuzgelenk vorgesehen sein. Wenn zum Tragen eines Stapels eine Palette verwendet wird, die Nuten aufweist, in der die Tragelemente positioniert werden, dann können die Tragelemente in Richtung der Bewegung aus den Nuten in Grenzen verschiebbar in der Traverse angeordnet sein.
