Definitions
- the invention relates to a body for a motor vehicle of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a body is already known as known from DE 35 40 814 C2, which comprises a support structure with a roof module placed on a basic module.
- B-pillars are assigned to the roof module, which are attached to the roof module and extend between the roof of the roof module and the basic module.
- the roof pillars are to be fixed with their respective lower ends to the basic module, with the roof pillars being attached to mounting profiles on side longitudinal members and fastened for this purpose.
- the invention has for its object to provide a body of the type mentioned with a different type of modularization and with improved crash stability.
- the roof pillar is designed as a separate component, as a result of which the roof module and the roof pillars can be easily connected to one another or to the basic module in terms of production technology when assembling the modules. Due to the overlapping fastening of the upper end of the roof pillar to the support part projecting from the roof, an extremely stable fastening is achieved, for example, against a side impact on the assembled body. In addition, the overlapping arrangement of the two components makes it very stable and suitable for series vehicle construction easily reproducible attachment by a joint connection or a mechanical connection or the like. be created.
- the roof pillar is attached to the support part from the outside and the support part acts as a tie rod for the upper end of the roof pillar.
- a particularly good fixation of the upper end of the roof pillar on the roof module is obtained if the support part is fixed to a lateral roof spar of the roof module. If the roof pillar comprises at its upper end a contact section, by means of which the roof pillar is supported from the outside against the roof spar, an additional stable overlap of the roof pillar with the roof spar is created in addition to the overlap with the support part.
- the arrangement of the contact section within a recess in the roof pillar ensures, on the one hand, a particularly stable fastening of the roof pillar to the roof pillar and, on the other hand, the contact section can be integrated flush in the roof pillar.
- a particularly good fastening of the lower end of the roof pillar to the side longitudinal member of the basic module is provided if the roof pillar ends at the lower end at a fastening profile which runs installed in the direction of extension of the side longitudinal member, this fastening profile preferably being essentially U-shaped in cross section and can be plugged onto the side longitudinal beam essentially in a form-fitting manner. Since the roof pillar can be mounted at the lower and upper ends in two different fastening directions, namely at the lower end from above and at the upper end from the outside towards the center of the vehicle, a very stable arrangement of the roof pillar on the support structure is achieved. In addition, a simple, easily reproducible assembly of the roof pillar by plugging of the lower end and then setting the upper end.
- Fig.l is an exploded perspective view of the support structure of the motor vehicle body according to the invention composed of large-sized sub-modules;
