Definitions

  • the invention relates to heat exchangers, in particular for motor vehicles.
  • Motor vehicles are equipped with several heat exchangers.
  • they include at least one heat exchanger for cooling the engine of the motor vehicle.
  • They also frequently include several other additional exchangers such as a condenser forming part of the vehicle interior air conditioning circuit or a charge air cooler. These exchangers are frequently assembled to form a set of several exchangers called a heat exchange module.
  • the vehicle engine cooling radiator is mounted on the vehicle chassis, generally by means of flexible fasteners, such as rubber blocks allowing vibration damping.
  • the other components of the heat exchange module, such as the condenser or the charge air cooler are themselves mounted on the engine cooling radiator.
  • the fixings of the cooling radiator on the chassis of the vehicle support the entire weight of the heat exchange module.
  • the stresses on these fasteners are therefore high, which introduces a risk of rupture of these fasteners or fasteners.
  • each of the components of the heat exchange module must include fixing means such as lugs making it possible to fix it on the cooling radiator, which increases its manufacturing cost.
  • the air conditioning system condenser and the motor-fan unit are attached to either side of the radiator. cooling, which complicates the assembly of the heat exchange module because it is necessary to access both sides of the radiator.
  • No air tightness is provided between the different exchangers of the module, so that a fraction of the air can escape through the space between the exchangers, which reduces the efficiency of the exchangers.
  • the charge air cooler is usually mounted separately. It is not part of the heat exchange module.
  • the subject of the present invention is a device for supporting heat exchangers which overcomes these drawbacks. It also relates to a heat exchange module comprising such a support device.
  • the support device is constituted by a frame comprising faces provided with fixing means for fixing at least a first and a second heat exchange component, each component being fixed directly to the frame, independently of the others. components, the frame further comprising fasteners for mounting it on a motor vehicle chassis by means of flexible vibration damping means.
  • heat exchange components is meant the exchangers themselves, such as the engine cooling radiator or a condenser of an air conditioning circuit, but also other equipment such as the motor-fan unit and its nozzle. air duct, etc.
  • the assembly and fixing of the heat exchange components on the frame are simplified.
  • the means for fixing the heat exchange components only exist on the frame itself.
  • the components themselves, for example the exchangers do not include fixing means, in particular when they are not made of plastic.
  • their design and implementation are simplified.
  • Each exchanger, and more generally each heat exchange component is mounted directly on the frame in its own fixing means. Consequently, the vibration damping means of the frame serve for all of the heat exchange components of the heat exchange module. There is no need to provide separate vibration damping means for each heat exchange component.
  • the invention makes it possible to develop a range of standard heat exchange components.
  • Each component can be used for different vehicles with a specific frame, for each vehicle.
  • the frame can accept different references of each component, such as different sizes or thicknesses of radiators, which makes it possible to have a single frame for a vehicle platform equipped with several motorizations.
  • the heat exchange module can be dismantled easily to allow recycling at the end of the vehicle's life.
  • the frame ensures the overall rigidity of the heat exchange module.
  • each heat exchange component is maintained independently in three orthogonal directions X, Y, Z.
  • the frame constitutes a shroud for the heat exchange components. Air tightness is ensured between the perimeter of each - component and the frame, and the frame channels air into the components.
  • the frame is designed in such a way that the components are mounted one behind the other by the same side of the frame.
  • This feature eliminates the need to turn the frame over to mount the various components. As a result, assembly is faster and simpler.
  • the profile of the lateral faces of the frames is such that they can be nested one inside the other.
  • certain fixing means are constituted by clips.
  • the fixing clips have an S shape allowing non-linear deformation.
  • certain fastening means are constituted by flexible forms.
  • the fixing means can be constituted by lugs.
  • the pins are fixed. They are provided for example on one of the edges of the frame, the opposite edge comprising flexible fixing means such as clips.
  • the invention relates to a heat exchange module comprising a support device according to the invention in which are mounted heat exchange components.
  • These components can be in particular, an engine cooling radiator, an air conditioning circuit condenser, a charge air cooler, etc.
  • the components do not in themselves comprise any fixing means, which simplifies their production, as was observed above.
  • the heat exchange module comprises at least a first and a second heat exchange component, the second component blocking the first in the frame.
  • the condenser For example, if the first component is a condenser and the second component is the engine cooling radiator, it is impossible for the condenser to leave its housing when the radiator is in place.
  • the heat exchange module can have a “mosaic” type architecture, or a surface type architecture.
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a heat exchange module comprising a support frame according to the present invention
  • FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of the frame of the heat exchange module of Figure 1;
  • - Figure 3 is a sectional view of the heat exchange module ' shown in Figure 1;
  • FIG. 4 is a partial perspective view of the heat exchange module shown in Figures 1 and 3;
  • FIG. 5 is a rear perspective view of the completely assembled heat exchange module
  • FIG. 11 is an exploded perspective view of a variant of a heat exchange module according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 12 is a perspective view of three frames according to the invention fitted into one another.
  • FIG. 1 shows an exploded perspective view of a heat exchange module comprising a support frame
  • Frame 2 rectangular in shape, has two long sides and two short sides.
  • the large upper side has a horizontal side face
  • the large lower side has a horizontal side face 6.
  • the short sides have vertical side faces, 8 and 10 respectively.
  • the long sides also have front faces, 12 and 14 respectively, while the short sides have front faces 16 and 18 respectively.
  • the large upper side of the frame has an inclined face 19 disposed between the horizontal side face
  • the horizontal face 10 comprises stiffening ribs 20.
  • the frame is divided into two parts by a vertical upright 22 which delimits a large opening 24 and a small opening 26.
  • the frame further comprises fixing means which make it possible to fix it on the chassis of a motor vehicle.
  • these means consist of two fixing pins 28 arranged at the bottom of the frame on either side of it and by two fixing lugs 30 arranged at the top of the frame and comprising cutouts 32 allowing the passage of a fixing means such as an axis or a bolt, which can be associated with a flexible vibration damping means (not shown).
  • the frame 2 comprises means for receiving and fixing various components forming part of the heat exchange module.
  • the components firstly comprise a condenser 34 forming part of an air conditioning circuit of a motor vehicle, an engine cooling radiator 36 having two manifolds 37, a motor-fan unit 38 making it possible to force the circulation of air through the condenser 34 and the radiator 36.
  • the components include a charge air radiator 40, intended to cool the air admitted into the combustion chambers of the engine.
  • the heat exchange module could include other components or additional components.
  • the heat exchange module comprises an architecture of the "mosaic" type.
  • the left part of the frame 2 (according to FIG. 1) corresponding to the large opening 24, is assigned to the housing of the condenser 34 of the exchanger 36 and of the motor-fan unit 38, while the right part of the frame corresponds to the small opening 26 is assigned to the housing and to the fixing of the charge air cooler 40.
  • the components are introduced into the frame 2 by the same side, the rear face of the latter in the example shown.
  • the condenser 34 is first introduced and fixed, then the radiator 36 and the motor-fan unit 38.
  • the charge air radiator 40 is then fixed. Since the heat exchange module includes a architecture of the mosaic type, one could reverse the order of assembly. In other words, one could first fix the charge air radiator 40, then the condenser 34, the exchanger 36 and the motor-fan unit 38.
  • Each of the components 34, 36, 38 and 40 has its own fixing means such that each element is fixed directly to the frame 2, independently of the other components. Since flexible vibration damping means (not shown) are provided between the chassis of the motor vehicle and the means 28, 30 for fixing the frame 2 to the chassis of the motor vehicle, it is not necessary to provide vibration damping means between the various components 34, 36, 38 and 40 and the frame 2. The production of the components and their mounting in the frame are thus simplified and the cost of the heat exchange module is lowered.
  • the front face 14 is provided with lugs 42 (FIG. 6) which make it possible to maintain the lower part of the condenser 34 in a direction X (FIG. 1) perpendicular to the plane of the frame 2.
  • the upper front face 12 comprises fixing means constituted by clips 44. These clips have non-linear stiffness characteristics. They easily deform to allow the introduction of the upper edge of the condenser 34, but beyond this elastic deformation, their rigidity increases greatly. This characteristic is obtained by the specific S shape of the clips 44 (see FIGS. 7 and 9).
  • the clip 44 has a tongue 46 for blocking the condenser 34 after the exchanger 36 has been put in place, as will be explained later.
  • the front face 14 has, at each end of the large opening 24, lugs 48 which limit the horizontal movement of the condenser 34 in a direction Y parallel to the long side of the frame 2. It can thus be seen that the condenser 34 is independently maintained in three directions orthogonal X, Y, Z, which facilitates the control of the stresses exerted on this component and allows greater manufacturing tolerances.
  • the means for fixing the cooling radiator 36 include two clips 50 provided on the large lower horizontal side of the frame on either side of the large opening 14. At the upper part of the frame 2, there are two clips 52 having a shape of S similar to that of the clips 44 for fixing the condenser 34, so as to have a non-linear stiffness characteristic, as explained above.
  • the lower edge of the cooling radiator 36 is held by two lugs 54 (FIG. 6) as well as by the rim 56 of the clip 50. At its upper part, it is held in the direction X by pressing on the horizontal front face 12 and by the flange 58 of the clip 52.
  • the cooling radiator 36 is held by flexible forms (not shown) located at each end of the opening 24.
  • the cooling radiator 36 In the vertical direction Z, the cooling radiator 36 is held by two flexible forms 60 which compensate for manufacturing tolerances. At its lower part, the radiator 36 simply rests on the horizontal lower opening of the large opening 24. It can thus be seen that the shapes of the radiator are very simple, in particular the shapes of the boxes 37. This allows natural demolding of the plastic in which these boxes can be made and reduces the manufacturing cost of the radiator 36.
  • the radiator 36 blocks the condenser 34 when it has been inserted and fixed in the frame.
  • the manifold 37 of the radiator 36 comes to bear on the tongue 46 (FIG. 7) of the clip 44 which blocks the movement of this clip and prevents the condenser 34 from being disengaged.
  • Radiators of different dimensions can take place in frame 2. For example, in the example shown, one can mount three sizes of radiator 36, namely two different lengths and two different thicknesses, the height of the radiator remaining identical.
  • the motor-fan unit 38 comprises a nozzle 62 which surrounds a propeller 64 driven in rotation by an electric motor 66 located in the center of the propeller 64.
  • the nozzle 62 also constitutes a support by which the motor-fan group is mounted on the frame 2.
  • the nozzle 62 has two upper legs 68 and two lower legs 70.
  • the lower legs 70 are introduced into holes 72 of suitable shapes made in the horizontal lateral face 6 of the frame 2.
  • the legs 70 allow thus maintaining the motor-fan unit in the X and Y directions.
  • the upper tabs 68 are fixed to fasteners 74 provided at the upper part of the large opening 24 (see FIGS. 1 and 10).
  • the motor-fan unit is thus fixed in the three directions X, Y and Z.
  • the latter has symmetrical fixings which make it possible to fix the motor-fan unit in two different ways by one. rotation .de, .180 'around the axis of the fan.
  • the upper legs 68 take the place of the lower legs 70 and vice versa.
  • the charge air radiator 40 is fixed identically to the motor-fan unit 38. In fact, it comprises at its lower part a fixing pin 78 which is received in a corresponding hole 80 formed in the frame 2 and at its upper part a fixing tab 82 which is fixed on a fastener 84 provided on the large horizontal upper side of the frame 2. The charge air radiator is thus held in the three directions X, Y and Z.
  • the frames 2 can be nested one inside the other, which makes it possible to significantly reduce the size of a stack of frames. This allows more frames to be housed in a transport container and therefore reduces the cost of this transport.
  • the small vertical lateral faces 8 and 10 of the frame 2 include cutouts 88 in which the fixing lugs 30 of another frame can be received. Note also the presence of cutouts 90 on either side of the large upper horizontal sides of the frame which allow the interlocking of the frames into one another.
  • FIG. 11 shows an alternative embodiment of the heat exchange module which has just been described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 10.
  • This heat exchange module is characterized by its surface architecture while the heat exchange module of Figures 1 to 10 has a mosaic-type architecture.
  • the charge air radiator 40 has a thickness which corresponds substantially to the thickness of the heat exchange module, and it is arranged laterally with respect to the condenser and the. engine cooling radiator.
  • the condenser 134, the cooling radiator 136 and the charge air cooler 140 extend over the entire surface of the frame 2.
  • the frame 2 is identical.
  • the motor-fan unit 138 extends over the entire surface of the frame.
  • the . condenser 134 is introduced first, as before.
  • the charge air radiator 140 and then the engine cooling radiator 136 is thus placed in front of the cooling radiator 136.
  • the means and the principles for fixing each of these components are identical to those which have been described for the first embodiment, by changing what must be changed, in particular as regards the location of these fixing means.
  • the large opening 24, and the small opening 26 no longer have a function. However, they are kept in order to standardize the manufacture of the frame 2. It will furthermore be noted, as mentioned previously, that the fan motor unit has been rotated 180 "around the axis of the propeller 64.
