Description

  • The invention relates to a method for refining a wood-based panel, in particular MDF or HDF board with a top and a bottom. Such plates are used for example for furniture construction. From them also panels, in particular floor panels can be produced.
  • Floor panels with a base plate made of wood material are commonly referred to as laminate panels and have been for many years for the substitution of parquet in the trade. The desired decor (parquet, wood grain, tiles) is printed on a paper web, which is then coated with resin and rolled up on a roll or stacked as sheets. The thus prepared decorative sheet is placed on the carrier plate and pressed at the floor manufacturer. By printing the decoration on the paper web, the subsequent sealing of the paper web with synthetic resin and the subsequent bonding of the decorative layer to the carrier plate by pressure and temperature, the paper web changes in dimensions. The expert speaks of the paper growing. The paper grows both in length (length growth) and in width (width growth). If this decorative panel is now to be tailored to individual panels, the length and width growth must be taken into account, because otherwise an uneven decor distribution on the individual panels would be present. This would have the consequence that the composite of an unequally distributed decorative layer floor on the connecting edges of the panels has Dekorsprünge. Even if such decorations jumps only a few millimeters, they are noticeable when viewed, which negatively affects the aesthetic impression and thus reduces the quality of the floor laid out.
  • In order to be able to produce in a quality-appropriate manner, the paper growth must be recorded and the saw, which saws the panels from the backing plate, adjusted accordingly. Manual adjustment is very time consuming. The DE 100 19 054 C1 describes a method of cutting panels from a backing plate that automatically matches the saw to paper growth. This requires cameras that determine the actual position of defined decorative points. The actual position is then compared with the desired position and determines the deviation of the latitude or longitude, so that the saw can be adjusted accordingly.
  • In order to optimize the cut so a lot of effort must be operated, which increases the cost of producing high-quality panels. In order to further adapt the optics of the laminate panel to the appearance of a natural wood panel, a die having a relief can be provided in the press in which the decorative layer is pressed with the support panel, which embosses a relief corresponding to the wood grain into the synthetic resin layer. Since the paper growth is not reproducible, it is not possible to bring the relief completely in accordance with the decor. The joints of a tile mirror, as deviations would be immediately visible here, can not be embossed into the surface.
  • In the DE 195 32 819 A1 discloses a method for producing a wood-based panel with an optically designable surface, in which a primer, a seal, a pressure base and a decor pressure are successively applied to the wood-based panel. The printing base is built up from a primer coloring or a primer of a Lackverslegelung and a surface finish. By gravure cylinders can be printed on the printing base, a decor pressure, for example in a two-color print. Finally, a multilayer acrylate UV varnish, which is curable by means of UV light, can be applied to this print.
  • In the DE 199 41 300 A1 there is described a hot deformable press plate having a core of wood and / or cellulose fiber impregnated with a thermosetting formaldehyde resin. On this press plate can be applied on both sides of a decorative layer of a plastic, paper or wood foil and / or a lacquer layer. Furthermore, the decorative layers can also consist of a crosslinked acrylic, urethane, epoxy or melamine resin containing a filler or a dye.
  • The EP 1 026 008 A2 discloses an overlay, a method of making an overlay, and a method of making a multilayer laminate in which patterns and coloring layers are reverse-deposited on a backing layer. The carrier layer used here may be a paper impregnated with melamine resin, which is pressed with the laminate.
  • The DE 197 51 115 A1 discloses a method for coating, for example, a panel, in which at least one color layer is applied to the surface by means of a printing process, in particular by screen printing. The surface may be untreated, ground or pretreated, in particular lacquered. Finally, the applied ink layer can be covered by a clearcoat.
  • Starting from this problem, a method for finishing a wood-based panel is to be specified, with which the disadvantages described above are avoided.
  • The problem is solved with a generic wood fiber board by the following steps.
  1. a) applying a sealing layer of melamine resin to the top of the plate,
  2. b) imprinting a decoration which has heat-resistant inks, preferably made of heat-resistant paints, on the sealing layer,
  3. c) applying a protective layer of melamine resin to the decor,
  4. d) pressing the plate under the effect of temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt and connect to each other, including the printed decoration.
  • The fact that the decor is printed on the plate, not only the problem associated with the paper growth continues, but also the handling, which is connected to the laying of the paper web on the top of the plate. The application of the sealing layer on the carrier plate prevents the ink from being absorbed by the carrier plate, which would be the case without the sealing layer, since the carrier plate as such is absorbent. The sealing layer holds and binds the decorative paint to the surface so that the decorative layer remains on the surface and forms a precise, clearly visible décor. The protective layer of melamine resin replaces the known overlay, which is placed on the decor paper in the known finishing process. By subsequently pressing under the effect of temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt, the decoration is enclosed and the sealing layer and protective layer become a composite. With Hilie the press plate, the gloss level of the surface can be adjusted. If a polished press plate is used, a high-gloss finish is achieved.
  • So that the decor or the color layer does not melt during the compression or changes color, a correspondingly heat-resistant paint or heat-resistant lacquer must be used.
  • Preferably, the plate is refined by the following steps:
    • e) applying a sealing layer of melamine resin to the underside of the plate,
    • f) applying a colored layer to the sealing layer,
    • g) applying a protective layer of melamine resin to the paint layer,
    • h) pressing the plate under the effect of temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt and combine with the inclusion of the color layer.
  • These steps replace the usual joist in a laminate panel. The individual layer thicknesses correspond to those on the upper side, so that a distortion of the plate is excluded.
  • It is particularly advantageous if the upper side and the lower side are finished at the same time, as a result of which the production time is reduced.
  • The processing of the plate can be carried out in a continuous process, wherein preferably a continuous press is used for the pressing. As a result, the production time is further shortened, which reduces production costs.
  • The sealing layers and / or the protective layers are preferably applied in a plurality of individual layers, wherein each individual layer dries out before the application of the next layer. The individual layers have a weight per unit area of 10-40 g / m 2 . The sealing layer preferably consists of two individual layers; the protective layer of four individual layers. The printing ink can also be applied in several layers.
  • In order to obtain a smooth surface, the plate is preferably ground before the first single layer of the sealing layer is applied. In at least one single layer of the protective layer corundum is mixed or scattered to increase the abrasion resistance. Also, antibacterial and / or antistatic additives can be mixed or spread in the protective layer. This can be done in the same or in a different single layer. Preferably, all individual layers are treated accordingly. Fillers can be introduced into the sealing layer and / or the protective layer. Suitable fillers are wood fibers, wood dusts, metals, minerals (loam, sand), plastics, cellulose or ashes. By means of the fillers, it is possible to achieve a structure which is applied corresponding to the decor so that the filigree reliefs can be produced. In the individual layers on the bottom, the fillers serve, for example, for impact sound insulation.
  • The refinement of the top of the plate can also be made only partially. Preferably, the finishing takes place on a surface of the plate running obliquely with respect to the upper side. For this purpose, several V-joints can be embossed in the top of the plate. After refining, the plate is sawn in the middle along the V-joints so that individual panels are created whose side edges have a chamfer. These chamfers later emphasize the appearance of a joint between individual panels of a floor.
  • Since no paper layers are used, the plates are safe from distortion, which could be caused by the inherent tensile force of the papers. Due to the thin layers short process times can be realized. The fillers introduced into the individual layers on the underside of the plate can be provided for impact sound insulation.
  • Instead of finishing a carrier plate made of HDF or MDF, OSB boards or conventional chipboard with a correspondingly finely scattered cover layer can be used. It is also conceivable to make the sealing layer so thick that unevennesses in the plate (OSB) are compensated.
  • The panels can not only be used as a floor panel They can also be used in furniture making.
  • In a wood-based panel, in particular a floor panel consisting of an HDF or MDF support plate, with a top and a bottom, wherein the top has a decor, preferably a wood or tile decor, wherein on the support plate a Verslergelschicht is applied to the a decoration having heat-resistant colors, preferably made of heat-resistant paints, printed, and wherein the decoration is covered with at least one protective layer, the sealing layer is made of melamine resin.
  • By printing a corresponding decorative layer inexpensive woods can be upgraded. For example, an oak decoration can be printed on a pine veneer and highlighted in color accordingly.
  • The press plate may be provided with a relief corresponding to the decor. When pressing the plate depressions are then produced in the protective layer, which correspond for example to a wood grain or to a tile mirror. This adjusts the feel of the surface to a natural surface.
  • Advantageously, the decor is printed directly on the sealing layer. To increase the abrasion resistance, texturing agents or corundum grains can be applied to the decor.
  • The support plate can be smoothed on the top and / or bottom, advantageously sanded.
  • In particular, V-joints running in the protective layer in the longitudinal direction and / or transverse direction of the plate can be embossed. Upon further processing, panels are then sawed out of the panel by sawing centrally along the V-groove. This will give the panels a chamfered edge.
  • Claims (14)

    1. Method for finishing a wood or wood-based panel, in particular an MDF or HDF panel with an upper side and a lower side, comprising the following steps:
      a) applying a sealing layer made of melamine resin on the upper side of the panel,
      b) pressing a decoration, which has heat-resistant paints, and preferably consists of heat-resistant paints, onto the sealing layer,
      c) applying a protective layer made of melamine resin to the decoration,
      d) pressing the panel with the effect of temperature, until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt and are connected to one another with inclusion of the printed-on decoration.
    2. Method according to claim 1 characterised by the following steps:
      e) applying a sealing layer made of melamine resin onto the lower side of the panel,
      f) applying a paint layer, which has heat-resistant paints, to the sealing layer,
      g) applying a protective layer made of melamine resin to the paint layer,
      h) pressing the panel with the effect of temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt and are connected to one another with inclusion of the paint layer.
    3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the upper side and the lower side are finished simultaneously.
    4. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that a plurality of single layers are applied for the sealing layer and/or the protective layer and each individual layer is dried before the application of the next one.
    5. Method according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the panel is sanded before the sealing layer is applied.
    6. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that corundum is mixed into at least one single layer of the protective layer.
    7. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that corundum is scattered onto at least one single layer of the protective layer.
    8. Method according to claim 4 or 6, characterised in that antibacterial and/or antistatic additives are mixed into at least one single layer of the protective layer.
    9. Method according to claim 4 or 7, characterised in that antibacterial and/or antistatic additives are scattered onto at least one single layer of the protective layer.
    10. Method according to any one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that at least one filler is added to the sealing layer and/or the protective layer.
    11. Method according to claim 10, characterised in that wood fibres, wood dust, metals, mineral materials, plastics materials or ashes are used as the filler.
    12. Method according to any one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that the upper side of the panel is only finished in regions.
    13. Method according to claim 10, characterised in that the finishing takes place on a surface extending obliquely relative to the upper side.
    14. Method according to any one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that a structure or at least a V-joint is impressed into the protective layer.
