DESCRIPTION " Decorative finish of a panel of wood-derived material " The invention relates to a process for finishing a panel of wood-derived material, in particular an MDF or HDF panel having an upper face and a lower face. These panels are used, for example, in the manufacture of furniture. From there panels can also be produced, in particular, floor panels.
Floor panels with a support panel of a derived wood material are commonly referred to as laminated panels and have been available for many years in the market for parquet replacement. The desired decoration (parquet, wood railing, tiles) is printed on a paper band which is then coated with resin and rolled onto a roll or stacked as sheet material. The paper web previously produced in this way is placed on the support panel by the floor manufacturer and compressed. By printing the decoration on the paper web, subsequent sealing of the paper web with synthetic resin and subsequent joining of the decorative layer to the backing panel by pressure and temperature, the dimensions of the paper web are changed. It is said by the expert that paper grows. The paper grows in both length (length growth) and width (width growth). If this decorative panel is now cut to size to give the individual panels, growth in both length and width has to be taken into account, otherwise an irregular distribution of the decoration by the individual panels will occur. The consequence of this would be that the floor composed by a decorative layer distributed irregularly in the union edges of the panels would present decoration flaws. In order to better adjust the visual appearance of a laminate panel to the visual appearance of a natural wood panel, in the press, in which the decorative layer is compressed with the backing panel, a die may be provided which has a relief embossing a relief corresponding to the scratching of the wood in the synthetic resin layer. Since the growth of the paper is not reproducible, it is also not possible to apply the relief completely coincident with the decoration. In WO 01 026 008 A2 there is disclosed a coating (" Overlay "), a process for producing a coating and a process for producing a multilayer laminate in which a backing layer and layers of coloring patterns of the underside in reverse printing. As a backing layer, in this case a paper impregnated with melamine resin, which is compressed with the laminate, can be applied.
DE 197 51 115 AI discloses a process for coating, for example, a panel on the surface of which is applied at least one layer of paint by means of a printing process, in particular by means of screen printing. In this case, the surface may be left untreated, sanded or pretreated, in particular varnished. Finally, the applied paint layer may be covered by a clear lacquer coating.
Starting from this problem, a process for finishing a panel of wood-derived material should be indicated, with which the above-described problems are avoided. The solution of the problem is achieved by a panel of wood-derived material comprising the following steps: a) applying a melamine resin or urea resin sealing layer to the top face of the panel, b) printing a decoration, which exhibits heat-resistant colors formed, preferably by heat-resistant colors, on the sealing layer, 4 ΕΡ 2 105 320 / ΡΤ c) application of a protective layer of melamine resin on the decoration, d) pressing of the panel under temperature effect, until the protective layer and the sealing layer merge and bond together with the inclusion of the printed decoration, e) production of recesses in the protective layer during pressing, by the use of a pressure panel which has a decoration corresponding to the decoration.
Since the decoration is printed on the panel, not only the problems related to paper growth but also the handling related to the placement of the paper web on the top face of the panel is avoided. By applying the sealing layer on the backing panel it is avoided that the printing ink is absorbed by the backing panel, which would be the case without the sealing layer, because the backing panel as such is absorbent. Through the sealing layer the decorative paint is maintained and fixed so that the decorative layer remains on the surface and forms a clear and well defined decoration. The melamine resin backing layer replaces the known coating, which in the known finishing processes is applied to the decorative paper. By pressing under temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt, the decoration is absorbed and the sealing layer and the protective layer give rise to a composite. With the aid of the pressure plate can be adjusted the level of brightness of the surface. If a polished pressure plate is used, a high gloss surface is achieved.

By these steps the normal main beam is replaced in a laminate panel. The individual thicknesses of the layers are similar to those of the top face, so that a deformation of the panel is excluded. It is in particular advantageous that the finishing of the upper face and the lower face is done simultaneously, which reduces the time of production. The finish of the panel may be continuously processed, whereby a continuous press is preferably used. This reduces production time, which lowers production costs.
The sealing layers and / or the protective layers are preferably applied in several individual layers at 6 Å 2 105 320 / ΡΤ each individual layer dries before the next layer is applied. Preferably, all individual layers are treated accordingly. Filling materials may be applied to the sealing layer and / or the protective layer. In the individual layers on the underside the filler materials serve, for example, to attenuate the noise of the steps. The finish of the top face of the panel can also be performed by sectors. The finishing process preferably takes place on an upper face opposite the inclined surface of the panel. For this, several V-joints can be stamped on the top panel face.

Since no layers of paper are used, the panels are not subject to deformation, which could occur through the tensile stress of the paper itself. Due to the thin layers, shorter processing times can be achieved. The filler materials applied to the individual layers on the underside of the panel can be provided for attenuation of the noise of the steps.

According to the invention the decoration is printed directly on the sealing layer. To increase the wear resistance, structure means or corundum grains may be applied to the surface.   1. A method of enriching a panel of wood or a derived material of wood, in particular an MDF or HDF panel, having an upper face and a lower face, comprising the following steps: a) applying a melamine resin or urea resin sealing layer to the top face of the panel, b) printing a decoration, which exhibits heat resistant colors, preferably formed by heat resistant colors , on the sealing layer, c) applying a protective layer of melamine resin on the decoration, d) pressing the panel under the effect of temperature, until the protective layer and the sealing layer merge and bond between (e) producing recesses in the protective layer during pressing, by the use of a pressure panel which has a relief corresponding to the decoration.
