Definitions
- the present invention relates to an artificial stone facing consisting of elementary slabs facade and angle.
- Masonry dry stone are complex and expensive constructions because they require on the one hand a qualified workforce to give the whole an aesthetic appearance pleasing to the eye, on the other hand a significant exposure time of the fact that the masonry is realized by means of an assemblage stone by stone. Stones are also increasingly difficult to find, especially when they are intended for the realization of large areas where it is necessary to have relatively homogeneous stones.
- each brick in the shape of a U thus provides between its branches a cavity intended to receive the adjacent branches of two bricks contiguous with a row of superimposed bricks.
- the constraints arising from the brick assembly are not comparable to those arising from the stone assembly.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an artificial stone facing imitating a masonry of traditional stones and whose design can significantly reduce the exposure time and does not require the use of a skilled workforce.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a cladding capable of covering any internal or external support such as concrete, masonry covered with a traditional plaster, cellular concrete, plaster, plasterboard, gypsum plasterboard or other, the design this facing making it possible to obtain, from slabs with a relatively simple contour, an overall impression of a natural facing in which the repetition of the assembly is masked to eliminate any impression of a factitious aspect of the cladding .
- Another object of the present invention is to provide an artificial stone facing made of a non-gelling material and easy to maintain.
- the subject of the invention is an artificial stone facing consisting of elementary facade and corner slabs, characterized in that each facade and corner slab is shaped to present the appearance of an assembly of several stones separated by lines of seal and in that each facade slab is provided with a notch insertion of a cabochon or a half-key realization identical to the facade tiles, these notches being essentially two types, the first type being a continuous notch disposed along a so-called longitudinal edge of the slab and centered with respect to the transverse edges of this slab, the second type being a notch formed in the corner of a slab to the right , to the left to form in the assembled state slabs to angular notches a notch identical to the dimension of the notch of the first type, the notch of the first type constituting the insertion space of a half-key, the notches of first and second constituent type, in the assembled state slabs the insertion space of the cabochon.
- the subject of the invention is a facing of artificial stones imitating the appearance of a traditional stone masonry.
- This facing 1 is formed from elementary facade slabs shown at 2 in the figures and elementary corner slabs shown at 7A, 7B in the figures.
- Each face or angle tile 7A, 7B is generally obtained by molding a composition based on a binder, in particular a synthetic resin, preferably a polyester resin, and mineral fillers such as fillers quartz, silica, marble or other to give the slab realized the appearance of an assembly of several stones 11 separated by lines of seal 12 as illustrated by the figure 4 in which several models of facade tiles 2 have been represented, each model corresponding to a different mold cavity.
- a binder in particular a synthetic resin, preferably a polyester resin, and mineral fillers such as fillers quartz, silica, marble or other
- the composition of the slabs makes it possible to obtain products that are permeable to water vapor by non-gelled joints, with very low porosity, so as to facilitate their maintenance. These slabs are characterized in particular by their ease of cleaning when they are coated with graffiti.
- each face plate 2 is provided with a single notch 3 or 4 or single notch insertion of a cabochon 6 or a half-key 5.
- the cabochon 6 or the half-key 5 are identical in facade tiles 2 in that they are shaped to have the appearance of an assembly of several stones 11 separated by seal lines 12.
- These encapsulations 3 and 4 are essentially of two types.
- the first type is a continuous notch 3 disposed along a so-called longitudinal edge of the slab 2 and centered with respect to the transverse edges of this slab 2.
- the second type is a notch 4 formed in the corner of a slab 2 either to the right or to the left to form, in the assembled state of the slabs 2 with 4 angular slots, a notch, of generally rectangular shape, identical to the dimension of the notch 3 of the first type.
- each slab 2 facade has either a notch of the first type or a notch second type.
- the notch 3 of the first type thus constitutes the insertion space of a half-key 5, this space again affecting a substantially rectangular shape.
- the half-key 5 corresponds in size to the interior space of the notch 3.
- the Notches 3 and 4 of first and second types are in turn, in the assembled state of the slabs 2, the insertion space of the cabochon 6.
- This co-operation of the notches 3 and 4 results in a facing in which facade tiles 2 are generally offset by half a step from one row to another.
- these slabs 2 may, at their transverse edge, have a substantially rectilinear edge.
- the slabs are not aligned at their transverse edge from one row to another thus breaking the uniformity of the assembly.
- the assembly of facade tiles 2 and half-key 5 will be more particularly reserved for the lowest row of slabs when the facing is made on a vertical support and the row above the slabs for the slabs of which the notch of the first or second type can not cooperate with the notch slabs on which they are superimposed.
- Each corner slab 7A, 7B for its part comprises at least one beveled edge 9 for a miter assembly with an adjacent corner slab, as shown in FIG. figure 3 wherein the angle of the vertical support to which the cladding is to be affixed has been shown at 13.
- the stone or stones 11 arranged in the vicinity of a beveled edge 9 of a pair of corner-assembled corner slabs 7A, 7B are assembled with joined contact to give, in the assembled state of said corner slabs 7A, 7B, the appearance of a single corner stone 8.
- the angle slabs 7A, 7B have at least two dimensions corresponding to one of the dimensions of the slabs 2 of facades, the other half of a slab 2 facade cut along its median transverse axis. Corner slabs smaller dimension are represented at 7B, while the angle slabs of dimension corresponding to the dimensions of the slabs 2 of facade are represented at 7A.
- the fact of having angle slabs 7A, 7B of different sizes and slabs 2 of notched facade allows a staggered assembly of the corner slabs 7A, 7B and facade 2 as illustrated in FIG. figure 1 .
- glue will be applied on the one hand on the support for receiving the slabs, on the other hand on the back of the slabs.
- the application of the glue on the support can be carried out by means of a trowel and the adjustment of the thickness of the adhesive layer will be provided by means of a notched trowel.
- the layer of glue applied on the back of the stone slabs will be smoothed.
- the slabs will be glued in a pattern consistent with that shown in figure 1 .
- the tongue or tabs 10 equipping each slab should always be positioned on the lower edge of the slab.
- the grouting step may be performed by means of a stencil. It will be necessary to do this to fill the stencil with a mortar of grouting then to fill the joints by means of the contents of the stencil. Once the grouting material has been deposited, this material can be tightened and smoothed with the joint iron so as to make a recessed joint that will bring out the stones of each slab. The excess grouting material may be removed by trowel. The seal can then be finished with a slightly dampened sponge.
- the facing obtained has an appearance very close to a masonry of traditional stones.
