Bei Fenstern oder Türen deren Flügelrahmen aus Holz oder einem holzähnlichen Werkstoff gefertigt sind, wird die eingebaute Verglasung von Glasleisten gehalten. Bei der herkömmlichen Bauweise solcher Verglasungen wird die Glasleiste möglichst genau in den Glasfalz eingeschnitten und durch verdecktes Nageln im Silikonfalz oder durch Schrauben mit dem Flügelrahmen verbunden.
Es ist bekannt, dass bei der Verglasung von Fensterelementen der Glasfalz von der kalten Außenseite her belüftet werden muss, um einen Dampfdruckausgleich für den Glasfalzhohlraum zu gewährleisten.
Bei oben genannter herkömmlichen Art der Glasleistenbefestigung kommt es häufig zu einer Fugenbildung zwischen Flügelrahmen und Glasleiste. Teils entsteht diese Fuge durch Ungenauigkeiten bei der Einpassung der Glasleisten, teils durch Verzug oder Verwindung bereits eingebauter Glasleisten. Durch die entstehende Fuge kann von innen warm-feuchte Raumluft in den von außen belüfteten und daher kalten Glasfalz gelangen, wo es zu einer Kondensation der warmen Raumluft und daher zu einem Feuchtigkeitsanstieg des Flügelrahmens aus Holz im Glasfalzbereich kommt. Dieser Feuchtigkeitsanstieg sollte aus Gründen der Haltbarkeit und Langlebigkeit des Holzfensters vermieden werden. Weiters soll aus optischen Gründen eine Fugenbildung zwischen Glasleiste und Flügelrahmen verhindert werden.

Fertigungstoleranzen in der Glasstärke der lsolierverglasung 7 werden durch das Vorlageband 9 aufgenommen.
