Abstract

Eine Fahrzeugleuchte (1) umfaßt ein Gehäuse (2) mit einer dem Gehäuseboden (3) gegenüberliegenden Lichtaustrittsöffnung (8) und einer die Lichtaustrittsöffnung (8) überdeckenden und das Gehäuse (2) verschließenden Lichtaustrittsscheibe (7), sowie wenigstens eine im Inneren des Gehäuses (2) angeordnete Leuchtdiode (15), deren Licht nach außen zumindest teilweise unter einem bezüglich einer sich zur Fläche der Lichtaustrittsöffnung (8) im wesentlichen senkrecht erstreckenden Hauptachse (HA) großen Winkel abgegeben wird. Zur Vereinfachung der Herstellung einer solchen Fahrzeugleuchte ist vor der wenigstens einen Leuchtdiode ein prismatisches Element (17, 18, 19, 20) angeordnet, in welches das von der Leuchtdiode abgegebene Lichtbündel durch eine erste Grenzfläche (26) eintritt und an einer gegen die Zentralachse des Lichtbündels geneigten zweiten Grenzfläche (28) zumindest teilweise so reflektiert wird, daß der reflektierte Teil durch eine dritte Grenzfläche (34) aus dem prismatischen Element unter dem bezüglich der Hauptachse großen Winkel austritt.
