Description

The present invention relates to a balcony for at least one ship cabin.

The usual practice of making balconies associated with ship cabins overlooking the sea consists of a sequential assembly of each of the elements of the balconies, this assembly being carried out on the ship under construction.

The present invention provides a new balcony design, which can be prefabricated, low cost and a great simplicity of construction.

The invention thus relates to a balcony for at least one ship cabin, comprising a floor, a railing parapet and two end side walls, said floor being carried by flanges in the lower part of said side walls and said balcony being capable of being bound and suspended from a hull of a ship by said sidewalls.

The balcony can cover several cabins, a separating side wall then separates two consecutive cabins, the (or) wall (s) side (s) of separation having in the lower part and on each side a rim on which rests said floor executed in several sections, each side wall being connected to the hull.

The description of a particular embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the appended drawing in which:
  • Fig. 1 is a view of a balcony according to the invention covering two cabins.
  • Fig. 2 is a detail view in section along II-II of FIG. 1 showing one of the attachments of the balcony to the hull of the ship by means of an eccentric.
  • Fig. 3 is a detail showing the support and fixing of the floor on lower edges of the side walls of the balcony.
  • Fig. 4 is a detail view along IV-IV of FIG. 3 showing the positioning of the floor in relation to the hull and the measure taken for the collection of runoff water.

Referring to FIG. 1, we see partially a hull 1 of a ship and two bay windows 2 and 3 of two neighboring cabins.

A balcony 4 covers, in the exemplary embodiment shown, the space of two cabins and comprises a floor 5 in two sections 5A and 5B, a guardrail parapet 6, two end walls 7 and 8 and a wall lateral partition 9 dividing the balcony into two parts corresponding to the two neighboring cabins.

The balcony could possibly extend over more than two cabins and there would then be a side wall of separation delimiting each time a cabin of the next. Moreover, such lateral partition walls may comprise, as in the case of the partition 9 of the example described, a communication door 10.

Conversely, the balcony could cover only one cabin and then have only two end walls.

3, sur lesquels reposent le plancher 5 et sur lesquels il est fixé par des vis et écrous 13, 14.The side walls 7, 8 and 9 have at their lower end flanges such as 11 and 12, as seen in the detail of FIG. 3, on which the floor 5 and on which it is fixed by screws and nuts 13, 14.

The end walls 7 and 8 may have only one inwardly facing flange, but it may be advantageous for a single type of manufacture that all side, end or partition walls comprise two edges 11 and 12.

The guardrail parapet 6 is fixed to the floor 5 by screwing and gluing. The entire balcony, with its floor, side walls and parapet, can easily be prefabricated before being attached to the hull.

The balcony is suspended and fixed to the shell by the side walls 7, 8 and 9 by means of metal gussets 15 welded to the shell 1. The gussets 15 are two in number per wall.

Fixing the walls to these gussets is performed by means of a system for adjusting the height of the position of the walls and therefore the balcony.

1.This system is an eccentric system whose fig. 2 shows the detail in section along II-II of FIG. 1.

The gusset 15 comprises, as seen in FIG. 1, a circular hole 16 in which is placed, see fig. 2, a pellet 17 of axis 18 having an eccentric hole of axis 19. The wall 7 comprises in its slice an obviously 20 in which is engaged the gusset 15 equipped with its pellet 17 constituting an eccentric.

Thus, by rotating the pellet 17 in its obvious, around its axis 18, one can adjust the height of the attachment 21-22 and therefore the wall and the balcony. The possible adjustment is equal to twice the distance between the axes 18 and 19. This adjustment is also accompanied by a simultaneous variation of the distance of the wall 7 relative to the shell 1. Once the adjustment is made, the screw is tight and blocked and we proceed to an injection of glue.

The detail shown fig. 4 shows the arrangements made for runoff and collection of runoff water.

This fig. 4 is a partial sectional view along IV-IV of FIG. 3 in its end near the hull 1 of the ship.

Ce profilé est soudé à la coque 1.First of all, as we see also fig. 1, the shell 1 is equipped with a profile 23 forming a gutter. This profile is welded to the shell 1.

A cet effet, l'épaisseur du rebord 11 est plus grande à l'extérieur que du côté proche de la coque 1.Furthermore, the floor 5 (5A, 5B) does not come into contact with the shell 1 but leaves a space 24 between it and the edge of the floor. The section 23, at the right of this space, fills the void and receives runoff water from the floor which is slightly sloping from the outside to the hull. For this purpose, the thickness of the flange 11 is greater outside than on the side close to the shell 1.

The space 24 is also filled by a protective grid 25, removable, to allow cleaning of the gutter.

La paroi latérale 9 comporte bien entendu une échancrure 26 permettant d'enjamber l'espace 24 et la gouttière 23.The side wall 9 of course includes a notch 26 for stepping over the space 24 and the gutter 23.

A collection system, such as downcomers 27 (Fig. 1), connects the profile 23 to those of any upper and lower cabins.
