Description

The invention relates to a method for forming over several needles extending stitches of Einzelelnadelmaschen in a knitted piece on a flat knitting machine with at least two opposing needle beds.

The formation of so-called Mehrnadelmaschen done so far using Ausdeck-techniques with which those needles that are to form the Mehrnadelmaschen be rid of meshes. Subsequently, a thread is inserted into the hooks of these needles, but no stitch is formed. Only from the next row of knitting do these needles form a multi-needle stitch. The Mehrnadelmaschen are thus not connected to the preceding single needle mesh, whereby a small hole at the transition between Einnadelmaschenstäbchen and Mehrnadelmaschenstäbchen forms in the fabric. For garments, these holes look visually disturbing. In technical fabrics, the holes represent weakening points that may affect the functional qualities of the fabric.

In addition, techniques for forming multi-needle mesh are known by means of auxiliary devices arranged above the needle beds, such as mesh transfer elements or the like, with which a mesh initially located over only one needle is extended over one or more further needles, such as in the US-A-5,367,892 described.

The present invention has for its object to provide a method by which it is possible to form from Einzelelnadelmaschen multi-needle meshes on a flat knitting machine without additional stitch transfer elements and while avoiding the formation of holes at the transition to the Mehrnadelmaschen.

The object is achieved with a method for forming over several needles extending stitches in a knitted piece with a flat knitting machine with at least two opposing needle beds, starting from a single needle ground mesh, which faces a free needle in the other needle bed and in the direction of widening the Mesh at least one adjacent needle in the same needle bed is free, the following steps are performed:
  1. a) using a split-stitch technique, transferring the basic stitch onto the free needle of the opposing needle bed and forming a split stitch as a starting stitch with the needle that previously carried the basic stitch,
  2. b) moving the thread guide, which is connected via a knitting thread with a leg of the starting stitch, opposite to the knitting direction next to the needle with the starting stitch,
  3. c) transferring the base stitch transferred onto the opposite needle bed to the free needle of the same needle bed adjacent to the start stitch,
  4. d) driving out the needles with the basic stitching knit,
  5. e) moving the thread guide in the direction of knitting and inserting the thread connected to the leg of the starting stitch into the expelled needle and thereby expanding the starting stitch via this needle,
  6. f) extension of the starting stitch via further needles by transferring the basic stitch with split-stitch technique to the opposing free needle and repeating steps b) to e),
  7. g) Discarding the basic stitch.

By means of this method according to the invention, the first multi-needle stitch is formed directly out of the last stitch of the single needle stitch rod, so that no troublesome holes are formed in the fabric. The method according to the invention can be carried out solely with the needles of two needle beds. Additional stitch transfer elements or the like are not required.

The production of the split stitch can be done, for example, by inserting a thread in the basic stitch transferring needle, while the basic mesh already in the opposite needle and still on the transferring needle, then the thread with the transferring needle is pulled through the basic mesh. This technique is known as such and provides an easy way to create a new mesh from an old mesh.

If multi-needle meshes are to be formed at several points of the knitted fabric, multi-needle knitting machines with multiple yarn guides can simultaneously form multi-needle stitches at the desired locations of the knitted fabric using the method according to the invention, provided the transitional areas from single needle meshes to multi-needle meshes have the same distance from each other as the knitting systems. If multi-needle meshes of arbitrary distance from each other are to be formed over the fabric width at several points, they must be produced successively using the method according to the invention.

With the method according to the invention, new educational techniques result for both fashionable articles and for technical knits.

In the following, an embodiment of a method according to the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 1
a schematic representation of a knitted piece with Mehrnadelmaschen;
Fig. 2a) - 2d)
a schematic thread course representation for forming a multi-needle mesh from a single-needle mesh according to a method of the invention.

The knitted piece shown in Fig. 1 is a right-smooth knit, in which in the knitting rows R1 and R2 with all needles in each case a single-needle stitch 20 is formed. From the row of knitting R3 Zweinadelmaschen 30 are formed with the needles C and D. For this purpose, the stitch 50 on the needle D in the knitting row R2 is first attached to the stitch on the needle E so that the knitting needle D becomes free. Subsequently, the stitch 40 on the needle C is also extended over the needle D, using the method shown in Figs. 2a) to d).

Die Bezugsziffern 41 und 42 kennzeichnen die beiden Schenkel der Masche 40.As shown in Fig. 2a), a stitch 40, which is the basic stitch for forming the multi-needle stitches, is first held in the needle 4 of the front needle bed 2. The adjacent needle 6 of the same needle bed 2 and the opposite needle 5 of the opposite needle bed 3 are empty. The median plane between the two needle beds 2 and 3 is designated 1. The reference numerals 41 and 42 denote the two legs of the mesh 40.

According to FIG. 2 b), the basic mesh 40 is subsequently transferred to the needle 5 of the rear needle bed 3 opposite the needle 4 of the front needle bed 2 using a split-stitch technique. At the same time, a new loop 10 is formed as a split mesh with the front needle 4. The loop 10 is the starting stitch, from which the first multi-needle stitch is formed. Your one leg 11 is connected to the rest of the knitting not shown here. The second leg 12 is connected via the knitting yarn 61 with a yarn guide 60. The yarn guide 60 then moves, as shown in FIG. 2c), contrary to the direction of knitting over the needle 4 addition. As a result, it is now possible to transfer the basic mesh 40 from the needle 5 of the rear needle bed 3 to the adjacent free needle 6 of the front needle bed 2 by a corresponding offset movement of the needle beds 2, 3. The leg 12 is then freely movable between the two legs 41 and 42 of the suspended base stitch 40.

Sie hängt nun in den Schenkeln 11 und 32 der Masche 30.In Fig. 2d), the needle 6 is now driven out in the knitting position and the thread guide 60 moved in the knitting direction while the knitting thread 61 inserted into the needle 6. As a result, the first multi-needle stitch 30, which extends over the two needles 4 and 6, now arises from the single-needle stitch 10. By subsequently retracting the needle 6, the ground stitch 40 is dropped. It now hangs in the legs 11 and 32 of the stitch 30th

Of course, it is always possible to extend the loop 30 over more than just two needles 4 and 6. For this purpose, instead of dropping the basic mesh 40, the basic mesh 40 is transferred by split-stitch technique to the opposite free needle 7 of the rear needle bed 3 and then the steps shown in FIGS. 2c) and 2d) are repeated.
