Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a knitted fabric with decorative stitches, in particular on a flat knitting machine. Moreover, the invention relates to a knitted fabric which is produced by the method according to the invention.

The invention relates to knits with decorative stitches, especially on intarsia knit with decorative stitches and monochrome flat knits with decorative stitches. In the production of knitted fabrics with decorative stitches so far the thread for the decorative stitches, hereafter called ornamental stitching thread, drawn diagonally over one or more needles. This can cause this thread is trailing the thread, with which a basic knit is knitted, is detected and thus creates a knitting error. In addition, the ornamental stitch as a floss thread falls in one direction to the edge of the decorative stitch. The knit with decorative stitch looks open at the back. On the front arises at a change of direction an uneven appearance.

For the production of patterned single-surface knits on a flat knitting machine, there are essentially two methods according to the prior art: the jacquard technique and the intarsia technique.

In jacquard technique, on the same needle bed, needles or groups of needles that form loops with the ground yarn (basic knitting yarn) alternate with needles or groups of needles forming loops with a pattern yarn (ornamental stitch). As a result, in each course of knitting, the main thread is laid as a floss thread behind the stitches formed with the pattern thread, and the pattern thread as a floss thread behind the stitches formed with the ground thread. These fleece threads reduce the characteristic of cross-elasticity and thus also the comfort. In addition, a separate thread guide and a separate knitting lock are required for the basic thread and for each pattern thread. If, for example, a row of knitting consists of three different threads, then three knitting locks are necessary so that the row of knitting can be formed.

With the technique of intarsia it is likewise possible to form single-surface knits which have mesh groups produced with different threads. The fields of the knitted fabric formed with the different threads are joined together at the edges. However, this requires special intarsia thread guides, which can be controlled in such a way that they only supply selected needle areas with thread.

From the EP 1 829 994 A1 a method for producing a patterned knit on a flat knitting machine is known which has knitting rows whose stitches are formed by a main thread and at least one pattern thread, wherein the at least one pattern thread is inserted as a tuck in the free needles of the opposite needle bed and the tuck loops on the desired places umgehängt and knitted with the mesh in the accepting stitch.

Object of the present invention is to provide a knitting method in which a decorative stitching thread can be better integrated into a basic knit, so that the basic knit looks more uniform and knitting errors are avoided as far as possible.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a method for producing a knitted fabric with decorative stitches, in particular on a flat knitting machine, with the method steps:

1. a. Forming a stitch with a decorative stitch thread with at least a first needle,
2. b. Forming in each case a stitch with second needles with a base knit thread omitting the first needle (s),
3. c. Inserting a tuck with the ornamental stitching thread on the first needle (s),
4. d. Forming a stitch with the second needles with a basic knitting yarn omitting the first needle.

With the method according to the invention, it is possible to better integrate a decorative stitching thread in a basic knit. The knit becomes more uniform. In border areas, in particular to a diamond pattern, the course of the decorative stitch is nicely displayed. The fixing point of the decorative stitch thread is always on the correct side of the last knitted needle, regardless of the knitting direction. Form as a standing thread always in a vertical position to the pivoted thread guide, the subsequent setting of the base color (the basic knit) floats this area. Thus, the standing thread is not detected by any subsequent needle action. Furthermore, this knitting technique allows for secure knitting even at very high knitting speeds. The tuck is always on the same needle above or below the stitch formed with the decorative stitch.

Using the method according to the invention a secure thread insert is thus ensured. It can be knitted at very high speeds. Furthermore, a stricktechnische clean contour and a nicer appearance of both sides of the product. A user can adjust both the increasing and the decreasing decorative stitch needle-accurate and with constant consistency to the thread guide with just a thread guide correction. The knitting technique requires no additional knitting system. The tuck looper can be placed directly on the stitch. A transfer or the admission on further needles is not necessary. The use of intarsia thread guides or normal thread guides is possible. The method according to the invention can be carried out using normal thread guides. In addition, a transfer to different needle beds is not necessary. The method can be carried out on a needle bed.

While it is known in the art to choose the yarn guide assignment so that the base color (basic knit) are placed on a front and the decorative stitch on a rear yarn guide rail, so this is no longer necessary with the inventive method. Both the base color and the decorative stitch can be placed on the front or rear thread guide rail.

For the purposes of the invention, a decorative stitch thread is understood to mean a thread which deviates from a thread with which the predominant part of the knitted fabric is knitted and which is therefore referred to as a basic knit thread. The deviation may be a different look, function, or structure than the basic knitting thread. For example, the decorative stitching thread may have a different color, it may be stiffer, thinner, thicker, fluffier, etc. be made of a different material than the basic knitting yarn.

In the method according to the invention, the method steps can be carried out in the order stated above. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the order of steps b. and c. to swap or the order of steps a. and b. to swap.

According to a variant of the method it can be provided that after step d. at a needle position offset from the needle position of the first needle (s), a stitch is formed with the decorative stitch thread. As a result, oblique ornamental stitch rows or diamond patterns can be generated. Unlike conventional methods, the direction of the offset, in particular for subsequent knitting rows with decorative stitch, is not predetermined. It can be moved both to the left and to the right.

Preferably, the stitch is formed with the ornamental stitching yarn at a needle position offset by a needle position. Alternatively, however, it is conceivable to form the stitch with the ornamental stitching thread at a needle position offset by more than one needle position. However, this increases the length of the floss thread. The number of needle positions by which the decorative stitch is offset should therefore not be too large.

According to a variant of the method, the mesh length can be adjusted in the tuck. As a result, the appearance of the knitwear, so the knitted fabric and the decorative stitch, can be adjusted. In particular, a more beautiful and more plastic look can be achieved in comparison to the prior art.
Furthermore, it can be provided that before step a. knit at least one row of knitting, in which also with the first needle (s) a stitch is formed with the basic knitting thread. Thus, it is possible to incorporate the decorative stitches in a basic knit. The decorative stitches do not have to start at the edge of the fabric.
According to an embodiment of the method, a plurality of decorative stitches may be formed with the same decorative stitching thread at adjacent needle positions. The introduction of the decorative stitches is therefore not limited to only one stitch width, but it can also be knitted several adjacent stitches with the same decorative stitching thread. An offset of a needle position in a following knitting row should be made in the same direction for all adjacent stitches formed with the same ornamental stitching thread.
Furthermore, it is conceivable that several decorative stitches are formed with different decorative stitch threads in a knitting series. When decorative stitches are formed with different decorative stitch threads, in subsequent rows of stitches, an offset of the decorative stitch stitches for each decorative stitch thread may be made in different directions. This gives a user a greater variety in the design of a knitted fabric.
The scope of the invention also includes a knit which is produced by the method according to the invention.

Fig. 1 shows the course of a decorative thread 1, with the decorative stitches are formed when a known knitting method is applied. First, a knitting course is formed, wherein the knitting takes place in the direction of arrow 2.1. With the ornamental thread 1 a stitch 1.1 is formed. The knitting of the following row of knitting takes place in the knitting direction 2.2. A section 1.2 of the decorative thread 1 is guided as a flat thread diagonally across the basic knit. In opposite knitting direction 2.3, the stitch 1.3 is now formed at an offset needle position. In this case, the decorative thread can be detected in the sections 1.2, 1.4 of the basic color to be knitted. This can cause a knitting error. The Knitting direction, which is indicated by the arrows 2.1 - 2.3, is given in this procedure.

The Fig. 2 shows a thread course of a decorative stitching thread 10 when knitting according to the inventive method. First, knit 11.1 in a first knitting direction. In this case, a mesh 10.1 is formed. Subsequently, a tuck 10.2 is inserted in a knitting direction 11.2, resulting in a straight standing ornamental stitching thread section 10.3. Subsequently, a stitch 10.4 is knitted again in the knitting direction 11.3. After reinserting a tuck 10.5 in the knitting direction 11.4, a new stitch 10.6 is knitted in the same knitting direction 11.5. It follows that the knitting direction 11.1 - 11.5 is arbitrarily changeable. In the prior art, however, the knitting direction was determined by the thread to be pulled along. Due to the fact that the decorative stitching thread 10 in the area 10.3 lies straight in the knitted fabric, it does not fall to one side. It also minimizes the risk of a knitting error.

The Fig. 3a shows a first step of a knitting process according to the inventive method. Thus, on the needles F - P of a front needle bed V of a flat knitting machine, a base knit with a base knit thread 20 is produced by forming stitches with the needles F - P. This means that with all the needles F - P used for the knitted fabric or for a region of a knitted fabric, a stitch is formed with the same thread.

In the next course, in the Fig. 3b is shown, with the needle K, a stitch with a decorative stitching thread 21 is formed. No meshes are formed with the remaining needles.

Thereupon according to Fig. 3c formed on the needles F - J and L - P with the base knit 20 each one stitch. The needle K is omitted. The ornamental thread 21, in the Fig. 3c is not shown, is performed as a float yarn. In the subsequent knitting step according to Fig. 3d If a tuck is inserted at the needle K, this means that the ornamental stitch is inserted without knitting a stitch. The order of the method steps according to Fig. 3c and 3d could also be reversed.

In the Fig. 3e the next process step is shown. Here again, with the needles F - J and the needles L - P, a stitch is formed with the base knit thread. The needle K is again omitted. A floss thread is passed over the needle K, which holds the decorative stitch.

In the next course is according to Fig. 3f on a needle J offset from the needle K, a decorative stitching stitch is knitted with the decorative stitching thread 21. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the decorative stitch stitch has been displaced to the left by one needle position compared to the previous stitch row. However, it would also have been conceivable to move the decorative stitch mesh one position to the right on the needle L. Also, an offset by two needle positions, so for example on the needle I or the needle M would have been conceivable.

The method step according to Fig. 3g corresponds substantially to the method step 3c, in which case when meshing with the base knitting yarn 20 not the needle K, but the needle J is omitted, on which in the previous method step, the decorative stitch mesh was formed.

In the process step according to Fig. 3h is placed on the needle J a catching handle. In the method step according to Fig. 3i In turn, stitches are formed with the base knitting yarn 20, whereby the needle J is omitted.

In the process step according to Fig. 3j a decorative stitch is knitted on the needle I, ie after a further offset of the needle position by one position to the left.

Accordingly, in the subsequent knitting step according to Fig. 3k formed on the needles F, G, H and the needles J - P a mesh with the basic knitting yarn. The needle I on which the decorative stitch was formed in the previous step is omitted. In the process step according to Fig. 3e is placed on the needle I a catching handle.

Further decorative stitches can be made by repeating the steps according to the Fig. 3a - 3e to be knitted. The direction of the decorative stitch can be changed.

Claims (9)

1. Method for producing a knitted fabric with decorative stitches, in particular on a flat bed knitting machine, with the following method steps:

   a. Formation of at least one stitch with a decorative stitch thread (10, 21) with at least one first needle (K),

   b. Formation of a stitch respectively with second needles (F - J, L - P) with a basic fabric thread (20) omitting the first needle(s) (K),

   c. Insertion of a tuck stitch (10.2, 10.5) with the decorative stitch thread (10, 21) on the first needle(s) (K),

   d. Formation of a stitch respectively with the second needles (F - J, L - P) with the basic fabric thread (20) omitting the first needle(s) (K).
2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the method steps are performed in the sequence stated in claim 1 or the steps b. and c. are reversed or the steps a. and b. are reversed.
3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that, after step d., a stitch (10.1, 10.4, 10.6) is formed with the decorative stitch thread (10, 21) at a needle position staggered with respect to the needle position of the first needle(s) (K).
4. Method according to claim 3, characterised in that the stitch is formed with the decorative stitch thread (10, 21) at a needle position staggered by a needle position.
5. Method according to claim 3, characterised in that the stitch is formed with the decorative stitch thread (10, 21) at a needle position staggered by more than one needle position.
6. Method according to any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the stitch length is adjusted in the tuck stitch (10.2, 10.3).
7. Method according to any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that, before step a., at least one row of stitches is knitted, in which a stitch is formed with the basic fabric thread (20) with the first needle(s) (K) also.
8. Method according to any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that a multiplicity of decorative stitches are formed with the same decorative stitch thread (10, 21) at adjacent needle positions.
9. Method according to any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that a multiplicity of decorative stitches are formed with different decorative stitch threads (10, 21) in one row of knitting.
