Definitions

  • the invention relates to the use of a double-sided adhesive tape for closing and opening of cartons or cardboard-like packaging.
  • tear strips for example of plastic or in the form of a thin rope, which is pulled to open and thereby separate or tear the openable packaging.
  • double-sided adhesive tapes are offered for the secure closure of a box, but which do not offer a tear-open.
  • a piece of adhesive is once again exposed by removing a strip of the cover and, in the further course, the adhesive bond formed therefrom is separated for opening, without the cover located on the adhesive tape taking over a role.
  • Object of the present invention is to provide a closure tape for cartons or similar packaging, which also offers an opening aid, so the combination of two previously completely separate functions in a solution.
  • the invention describes the use of a double-sided adhesive tape for closing and opening of cardboard or cardboard-like packaging, wherein at least one of the two adhesive layers of a double-sided adhesive tape is provided with a non-adhesive strip-shaped cover.
  • the adhesive tape initially serves to close the carton.
  • the release paper covering the entire surface of at least one of the two adhesive layers or the release film is partially removed from the adhesive layer, so that a strip-shaped cover remains on the adhesive layer, which remains non-adhesive.
  • the adhesive tape is applied between a lower and a folded-up upper layer or tab of the carton or the carton-like packaging, wherein the bonding of the adhesive tape between the two layers or tabs in such a way in that the part of the strip-shaped cover which is not removed from the adhesive layer lies on the side facing away from the outer edge of the upper layer or tab, while the adhesive side of the adhesive layer points to the outer edge of the upper layer or flap.
  • cover is removed by 30%, that is, based on the width of the adhesive tape, 70% are not adhesive due to the remaining cover. Further advantageous values of the cover to be removed are 50% or 70%. Of course, it is within the skill of the art to move up or down from the stated values, as the application requires.
  • this predetermined breaking point is achieved by slotting the release paper.
  • the part to be removed may be advantageous to provide the part to be removed with a protruding cover, a so-called one-sided finger lift, to facilitate gripping it for the user.
  • the predetermined breaking point as far as into the adhesive tape, that is, for example, also to split the carrier material of the adhesive tape.
  • very tear-resistant carrier materials of the adhesive tape can be severed safely during the tearing process.
  • the adhesive tape can cooperate in two ways with the preferably existing slits in the layer or tabs.
  • the adhesive tape can be mounted in such a way that the remaining cover rests against the top or the edge of the carton or carton-like packaging and the top layer or tab is slit above the remaining cover.
  • the slot produced by mostly two incisions in the position or tab preferably corresponds in its width to approximately the width of the cover.
  • the adhesive tape can be mounted in such a way that the remaining cover rests against the bottom or the flap of the carton or carton-like packages and the top layer or tab on which the cover is not in contact is slit above the remaining cover.
  • the slot produced by mostly two incisions in the position or tab preferably corresponds in its width to approximately the width of the cover.
  • the adhesive layer of the adhesive tape below the cover can not adhere to the overlying layer or flap of the cardboard because the cover prevents this.
  • the non-bonded cover thus forms the first part of a handle, which is particularly easy to grip when one or two slots corresponding to the situation or the layers or the tab or the tabs are present.
  • the handle When there is only one slot in the tab, opposite to the cover located on the other side of the adhesive tape, the handle is grasped, which is composed of the cover, the adhesive tape and the outer cardboard layer , When pulling on the handle splits the tape and the réelletumblede layer or flap of the carton.
  • the gripper is grasped, which consists only of the cover and the outer cardboard layer. When you pull on the handle splits the réelletumblede layer or flap of the carton.
  • the cover preferably consists of a suitable tear-resistant material, preferably MOPP.
  • the adhesive tape can consist of a single layer. In this case, it is a strapless adhesive tape.
  • the carrier layer of the adhesive tape can be formed by films (for example made of PUR, PE or PP, polyesters such as PET, PA), nonwovens, fabrics, foams, metallized films, composites, cotton, laminates, foamed films, paper etc. Very advantageous is when the carrier layer is easy to tear or separate.
  • the carrier layer used is preferably a thermoplastic polyolefin film which is unstretched and at least one polyolefin selected from the group of polyethylenes (for example HDPE, LDPE, MDPE, LLDPE, VLLDPE, copolymers of ethylene with polar comonomers) and the group of polypropylenes (for example polypropylene). Homopolymers, polypropylene random copolymers or polypropylene block copolymers). Preference is given to using mixtures of various suitable polyolefins in order to be able to optimally adjust the mechanical and thermal properties as well as gloss, extrusion behavior, anchoring of the adhesive, etc.
  • Monoaxially stretched polypropylene is characterized by its very high tensile strength and low elongation in the longitudinal direction and is used for example for the production of strapping tapes. Particularly preferred are monoaxially stretched films based on polypropylene.
  • the thicknesses of the monoaxially oriented films based on polypropylene are preferably between 0.2 and 0.5 mm, in particular between 0.23 and 0.28 mm.
  • Monoaxially oriented films are predominantly single-layered, but in principle it is also possible to produce multilayer monoaxially stretched films. Are known predominantly one, two and three-layer films, the number of layers can also be chosen larger.
  • biaxially oriented films based on polypropylene with a stretching ratio in the longitudinal direction between 1: 4 and 1: 9, preferably between 1: 4.8 and 1: 6 and a transverse stretching ratio between 1: 4 and 1: 9, preferably between 1: 4.8 and 1: 8.5.
  • the former are prepared from only a single monomer by, for example, polycondensation of an ⁇ -hydroxycarboxylic acid 1 or by ring-opening polymerization of cyclic esters (lactones) 2, for example
  • the latter is formed by polycondensation of two complementary monomers, for example a diol 3 u.
  • a dicarboxylic acid 4 Branched and crosslinked polyesters are obtained in the polycondensation of trihydric or polyhydric alcohols with polyfunctional carboxylic acids.
  • the polyesters are generally also the polycarbonates (carbonic acid polyester) counted.
  • PET polyethylene terephthalate
  • PBT polybutylene terephthalate
  • PCDT Poly (1,4-cyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate) s
  • a metallocene polyethylene nonwoven fabric is suitable as a carrier layer.
  • nonwoven being understood to mean at least textile fabrics according to EN 29092 (1988) and stitchbonded nonwovens and similar systems.
  • lamination fabrics and knitted fabrics can be used.
  • spacer fabrics are used in the EP 0 071 212 B1 disclosed.
  • Spacer fabrics are mat-shaped laminates with a cover layer of a fibrous or filament nonwoven fabric, a backing layer and individual layers or tufts of retaining fibers between these layers, which are needled through the particle layer distributed over the surface of the laminate body and interconnect the cover layer and the backing layer.
  • particles of inert rock particles, such as sand, gravel or the like are present in the holding fibers.
  • nonwovens are particularly solid staple fiber webs, but also filament, meltblown and spun nonwovens in question, which are usually additionally solidify.
  • solidification methods for nonwovens mechanical, thermal and chemical solidification are known. If, in the case of mechanical consolidation, the fibers are held together purely mechanically by swirling of the individual fibers, by intermeshing fiber bundles or by sewing in additional threads, thermal or chemical methods can be used to bond adhesive (with binder) or cohesive (binder-free) fiber-fiber Achieve bonds. With suitable formulation and process control, these can be limited exclusively or at least predominantly to fiber nodes, so that a stable, three-dimensional network is formed while maintaining the loose, open structure in the nonwoven.
  • Nonwovens have proven to be particularly advantageous, which are solidified in particular by overmilling with separate threads or by intermeshing.
  • Such solidified nonwovens are produced, for example, on stitchbonding machines of the "Malivlies" type from Karl Meyer, formerly Malimo, and can be obtained, inter alia, from the companies Naue Fasertechnik and Techtex GmbH.
  • a Malivlies is characterized in that a cross-fiber fleece is solidified by the formation of stitches of fibers of the fleece.
  • a nonwoven type Kunitvlies or Multiknitvlies can also be used as a carrier.
  • a Kunitvlies is characterized in that it from the processing of a longitudinally oriented nonwoven fabric results in a fabric having on one side mesh and on the other mesh webs or pile fiber pleats, but has neither threads nor prefabricated fabrics.
  • nonwoven fabric has been produced for example for some time on stitchbonding machines of the "Kunitvlies" type from Karl Mayer.
  • Another characteristic feature of this fleece is that it can absorb high tensile forces in the longitudinal direction as a longitudinal fiber fleece.
  • a Multiknitvlies is characterized over the Kunitvlies characterized in that the fleece by the piercing both sides with needles undergoes solidification both on the top and on the bottom.
  • sewing nonwovens are suitable as a precursor to form an inventive adhesive tape.
  • a stitchbonded web is formed from a nonwoven material having a plurality of seams running parallel to one another. These seams are created by sewing or stitching of continuous textile threads. For this type of nonwoven stitching machines of the type "Maliwatt" the company Karl Mayer, formerly Malimo, known.
  • a staple fiber fleece which is preconsolidated by mechanical processing in the first step or which is a wet fleece which has been hydrodynamically laid, wherein between 2% and 50% of the fibers of the fleece are melt fibers, in particular between 5% and 40% of the fibers of the fleece.
  • a nonwoven fabric is characterized in that the fibers are wet or, for example, a staple fiber nonwoven fabric is preconsolidated by the formation of loops of fibers of the nonwoven or by needling, Vefflehung or air and / or water jet machining.
  • the heat-setting takes place, wherein the strength of the nonwoven fabric is further increased by the melting or melting of the melt fibers.
  • the solidification of the nonwoven backing can also be achieved without binders, for example by hot stamping with structured rolls, wherein properties such as strength, thickness, density, flexibility, etc. are determined by way of pressure, temperature, residence time and the embossing geometry. can be controlled.
  • the adhesive bonding of mechanically pre-consolidated or wet-laid nonwovens is of particular interest, and this can be achieved by addition of binder in solid, liquid, foamed or pasty form.
  • Basic forms of administration are variously possible, for example solid binders as powders for trickling, as a foil or as a grid or in the form of binding fibers.
  • Liquid binders are dissolved in water or organic solvents or can be applied as a dispersion.
  • Bonding dispersions are predominantly selected for adhesive bonding: thermosetting plastics in the form of phenolic or melamine resin dispersions, elastomers as dispersions of natural or synthetic rubbers or mostly dispersions of thermoplastics such as acrylates, vinyl acetates, polyurethanes, styrene-butadiene systems, PVC and the like. and their copolymers. Normally these are anionic or nonionogenically stabilized dispersions, but in special cases cationic dispersions may also be advantageous.
  • binder application can be carried out according to the prior art and can be read, for example, in standard works of the coating or nonwoven technology such as nonwovens "(Georg Thieme Verlag, Stuttgart, 1982) or” Textiltechnik-Nonwoven production "(Employersnovatextil, Eschborn, 1996).
  • the one-sided spray application of a binder is available in order to change surface properties in a targeted manner.
  • the energy requirement for drying is also significantly reduced in such an operation. Since no nip rolls are required and the dispersions remain predominantly in the upper region of the nonwoven fabric, undesirable hardening and stiffening of the nonwoven fabric can be largely prevented.
  • binders of the order of 1% to 50%, in particular 3% to 20%, based on the weight of the nonwoven fabric.
  • the addition of the binder can be carried out already during the nonwoven production, during the mechanical pre-consolidation or else in a separate process step, wherein this can be carried out in-line or off-line.
  • a state are created in which this is adhesive and adhesive binds the fibers - this can be achieved during drying, for example, of dispersions, but also by heating, with further variation possibilities are given by area or partial pressure application.
  • the activation of the binder can be done in known drying channels, with a suitable choice of binder but also by means of infrared radiation, UV radiation, ultrasound, high-frequency radiation or the like. For the later end use, it is useful, but not mandatory, that the binder has lost its stickiness after the end of the nonwoven manufacturing process.
  • Another special form of adhesive bonding is that activation of the binder occurs by solubilization or swelling.
  • the fibers themselves or blended special fibers can take over the function of the binder here.
  • solvents are environmentally problematic or problematic in their handling, this method is rarely used.
  • the textile carrier in particular polyester, polypropylene, viscose or cotton fibers are provided.
  • the present invention is not limited to the materials mentioned, but it can, recognizable to those skilled to work without having to be inventive, a variety of other fibers for the production of the web can be used.
  • Knitted fabrics are fabrics made of one or more threads or thread systems by stitching (thread grinding), in contrast to woven goods (fabrics), in which the surface is made by crossing two thread systems (warp and weft threads) and the nonwovens (fiber composites), in which a loose batt is solidified by heat, needling, sewing or by water jets.
  • Knitted fabrics can be divided into knitted fabrics in which the yarns travel transversely through the textile and into knits in which the yarns run longitudinally through the textile. Due to their mesh structure, knitwear is in principle yielding, supple textiles because the meshes can stretch in length and width and endeavor to return to their original position. They are very durable with high quality material.
  • the carrier material As a whole is that this can be cleaved in the longitudinal direction, ie in the running direction of the adhesive tape. In this way, it is possible that the strip-shaped cover can cut through the carrier material, to then tear open, for example, the cardboard layers of the cardboard.
  • the two adhesives which are located on both sides of the carrier material, are also cleavable.
  • the self-adhesive composition used is in particular a commercially available pressure-sensitive adhesive based on PUR, acrylate or rubber.
  • an acrylate hotmelt base which has a K value of at least 20, in particular greater than 30, obtainable by concentrating a solution of such a composition into a system which can be processed as a hotmelt.
  • the concentration can take place in suitably equipped boilers or extruders, in particular in the concomitant degassing a vented extruder is preferred.
  • Such an adhesive is in the DE 43 13 008 A1 , the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference.
  • compositions described in the patent are the fact that they have a high K value and thus a high molecular weight. It is known to those skilled in the art that systems with higher molecular weights can be crosslinked more efficiently. This reduces the proportion of volatile components accordingly.
  • the solution of the composition may contain from 5 to 80% by weight, in particular from 30 to 70% by weight, of solvent.
  • solvents are preferably used, in particular low-boiling hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols and / or esters. Further preferably, single-screw, twin-screw or multi-screw extruders with one or in particular two or more degassing units are used.
  • benzoin derivatives may be copolymerized, such as benzoin acrylate or benzoin methacrylate, acrylic acid or methacrylic acid ester. Such benzoin derivatives are in the EP 0 578 151 A1 described.
  • the adhesive based on Acrylathotmelt-based but can also be chemically crosslinked.
  • self-adhesive compositions of (meth) acrylic acid and esters thereof having 1 to 25 carbon atoms, maleic, fumaric and / or itaconic acid and / or their esters, substituted (meth) acrylamides, maleic anhydride and other vinyl compounds , such as vinyl esters, in particular vinyl acetate, vinyl alcohols and / or vinyl ethers used.
  • the residual solvent content should be below 1% by weight.
  • An adhesive which is particularly suitable is a low molecular weight acrylate hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesive, such as that marketed under the name acResin UV or Acronal®, in particular Acronal DS 3458, by BASF.
  • This adhesive with a low K value obtains its application-oriented properties through a final radiation-induced crosslinking.
