- the expressions "high” and “low” should be considered as referring to the slope of the cover, while the expressions “lower” and “upper” should be considered as referring to parts of the tiles 1, shingles 2 and rails 3 in the positions they occupy once installed.
- Each shingle 2 is formed by a metal or plastic profile, in particular a light alloy or polyvinyl chloride.
- Each shingle 2 comprises a core 2a which extends substantially perpendicular to the rail 3 on which the shingle 2 is fixed and which is extended, at its upper end, by a fastening wing 2b extending upwards, in the direction of the slope.

It should be noted that, to allow the regular superposition of the tiles 1, the bearing surfaces 2c and 2e are slightly inclined from bottom to top in the direction of the rails 3, so as to give this same inclination to the tiles 1 which are all parallel to each other.
- the seal between the tiles in the upper and lower rows can be reinforced where they are superimposed, providing a horizontal groove (or rib) parallel to the small bottom side of tile 1 in the top row and a rib (or groove) ld on the upper surface of the top marginal part of tile 1 in the row low.
- the positions of the groove and the rib of each tile 1 are such that they fit into one another when two tiles, once placed, are superimposed.
- each shingle 2 can be fixed to the rails 3 by any suitable means.

- each rail 3 has, on its upper surface, two hooks distant from each other in the direction of the slope, namely an upstream hook 3a and a downstream hook 3b, that is to say located lower than the previous one, these two hooks being open upwards.
- the base 2d of the shingle 2 has, on its underside, an upstream hooking element 2jf, of shape complementary to that of the upstream hook 3a of the rail 3, and a downstream hooking element 2g of complementary shape that of the downstream hook 3b of the rail 3.
- the pair of hooks 3a, 3b of the rail 3 and the pair of hooking element 2f, 2g may include means ensuring a snap-fastening or clipping of the shingle 2 on the rail 3.
