Definitions
- the invention describes a burner for a heat generator according to the Preamble of claim 1.
- premix burners are known in which a combustion air flow tangentially into a burner interior via a swirl generator introduced and mixed with fuel. bursts at the burner outlet the resulting vortex flow on a cross-sectional jump, whereby a backflow zone is induced, which stabilizes during operation of the burner serves a flame.
- the present invention has for its object the stability of the lean Premix combustion of modern burners of the type mentioned above, such as they are used in particular in the combustion chambers of gas turbines, to improve by the distance between the flame temperature and the Extinguishing limit temperature is increased. There is an essential increase the combustion temperature to avoid a low pollutant To ensure operation.
- the burner on a downstream one End has a combustion gas mixing section, which combustion gas mixing section at least partially protrudes into a combustion chamber, and which combustion gas inlet openings upstream of their mouth into the combustion chamber has, via which combustion gas inlet openings in the Operation of the burner a quantity of combustion gas from the combustion chamber into the Combustion gas mixing section flows.
- the invention makes use of the knowledge that an increase the temperature of the fresh gas - i.e. the fuel-air mixture - one Increase in flame speed.
- an increase of the fresh gas temperature by 300K roughly doubles the flame speed.
- the expansion is reduced the flame front, and the extinguishing limit temperature of the burner sinks.
- the essence of the invention is therefore an increase in the temperature of the fuel-air mixture prior to the combustion. Preheating the combustion air is actually no longer feasible, especially in gas turbine applications.
- a protruding into the combustion zone Combustion gas mixing section used, in which on the one hand the premixed Fuel / air mixture flows as fresh gas, in which on the other hand but also in an upstream area of the mixing section Combustion gases from the combustion chamber into the combustion gas mixing section inflow, which mix in the mixing section with the fresh gas and so the temperature of the in a downstream of the combustion gas mixing section raise the forming combustion zone of the incoming gas. As described above, this lowers the extinguishing limit temperature of the flame, and thus improves flame stability at the same combustion temperature.
- the combustion temperature becomes apparent and thus increases nitrogen oxide formation; however, must not do not take into account that the fuel / air mixture with inert combustion gas is mixed. Therefore, the mean flame temperature increased, but the power density and the temperature increase decrease, what the overall effects on pollutant and especially nitrogen oxide formation compensated.
- the effects combine particularly favorably if the Mass flow of the added combustion gases between 5% and 60% of the supplied air mass flow.
- the admixture of combustion gases can be done by suitable constructive Support measures.
- the axial flow cross section the mixing section can be designed so that at the point where the Combustion gas inlet openings are arranged opposite a negative pressure prevails in the combustion chamber. This can be achieved, for example, by the axial flow cross section an abrupt expansion of the cross section has, on which a dead water with a negative pressure forms.
- the combustion gas inlet openings are in this case immediately downstream of the Cross-sectional jump arranged. In operation, combustion gases are in the Dead water sucked in.
- the pressure conditions in the combustion gas mixing section in the sense of increased combustion gas mixing a diffuser-like shape the mixing section downstream of the combustion gas inlet openings; also a convergent-divergent course of the mixing section, in which the combustion gas inlet openings arranged in the area of the narrowest flow cross-section are possible.
- the diffuser half angle of the divergent part of the In these cases, the combustion gas mixing section should be in the range of 3 ° to 10 °, preferably 5 °.
- the invention is based on premix burners, which from the above State of the art as such are well known and familiar to those skilled in the art.
- the invention can readily be used with all of the documents cited therein and those further developed from these writings, to the skilled worker per se common swirl generator and burner types are combined, which in the variety of possible embodiments by the in the subclaims specified preferred variants are only partially reflected.
- the wall of the combustion gas mixing section is in operation in a strong exposure to hot gas. Especially when using conventional ones Materials are advantageously cooled. For cooling efficiency reasons film cooling will be preferred.
- combustion gas mixing section it is possible to separate the combustion gas mixing section from the others Burner components, i.e. from the swirl generator and / or one possibly to mechanically decouple the mixing tube downstream of the swirl generator.
- This advantageously enables the use of materials with expansion coefficients and thermal resistance of that of the burner material are very different. Since the combustion gas mixing section still none has to bear significant mechanical loads, it can advantageously be fully ceramic be carried out. In this case, despite the Hot gas exposure of the mixing section can be dispensed with cooling, or the cooling can be carried out closed. Such a waiver of the Blow out of cooling medium in the area of the flame brings for the specialist immediately recognizable significant advantages.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 reflect the essence of the invention in a highly schematic manner.
- a swirl generator 100 is effective, the design options of which are discussed in detail in the following FIGS. 3-5.
- this swirl generator 100 can be a premix burner known per se, as is described, inter alia, in the publications cited in this description. These burners cited as examples are all based on a common principle. They have an axially extending, at least approximately rotationally symmetrical cavity 122, into which combustion air flows, preferably via inlet slots 121 that run parallel to the longitudinal axis.
- the combustion air Due to the tangential orientation of these more or less slit-shaped inlet openings 121, the combustion air receives a strong tangential velocity component, from which, in interaction with the axial component directed towards the burner mouth, a swirl flow through said interior space (122) results.
- the combustion air is enriched with fuel alternatively or additionally via means (1111) on the housing jacket near the combustion air inlet slots (121) and / or via central feed means (113) in the burner axis (100a).
- these burners have in common that the flow cross-section widens steadily in the direction of the burner outlet in order to maintain approximately constant flow conditions with the increasing mass flow.
- a mixing section (300) protruding into the combustion chamber (50) now adjoins the burner mouth in the extension of the burner axis. This can be done in any suitable manner. Depending on the specific conditions of the application, a number of possibilities open up to the person skilled in the art.
- the mixing section (300) can be connected directly to the swirl generator (100) via a flange connection.
- swirl generator (100) and mixing section (300) can also be indirectly connected by interposing the combustion chamber wall.
- this mixing section (300) hot combustion gases from the combustion chamber (50) are added to the premixed fuel / air mixture.
- the mixing section (300) forms an area of relative negative pressure at its upstream end, which is equipped with a number of passage channels (311) for the combustion gases from the combustion chamber (50).
- the relative negative pressure is generated by designing the mixing section (300) accordingly.
- the mixing section (300) has an abrupt cross-sectional widening in relation to the swirl zone (100).
- the inner contour of the mixing section (300) takes a convergent-divergent course, in the narrowest cross-section of which the combustion gas inlet openings (311) are arranged distributed over the circumference.
- the half angle of the diffuser is 5 °.
- the combustion gas passage channels (311) penetrate the casing (301) of the mixing section (300) either radially or with one component in the direction of flow. This means that the longitudinal axes of these openings (311) run perpendicularly or at an acute angle to the burner axis 100a.
- the range of their cross-sectional shapes is varied and ranges from circular to annular gap. They can have a parallel or flared inner contour.
- the burner as characterized in the preamble of the claims, is familiar to the person skilled in the art in different designs, which can differ in the specific embodiment from the burner shown in FIG.
- burners which essentially consists of a conical swirl generator. Nevertheless, all of these burners are constructed according to a common principle: they have a swirl generator in the form of a hollow body with a longitudinal extension, which includes a swirl generator interior.
- the swirl generator furthermore has inlet slots extending in the direction of the swirl generator longitudinal axis or inlet openings arranged in the direction of the longitudinal axis, the flow cross section of which essentially specifies a tangential flow direction. Combustion air flows through these inlet openings with a strong tangential speed component into the interior of the swirl generator, where it forms a swirl flow with a certain axial component directed towards the burner orifice in the combustion chamber.
- the axial flow cross section of the swirl generator interior is advantageously expanded toward the burner mouth.
- This design is favorable in order to achieve a constant swirl number of the swirl flow in the combustion air mass flow increasing in the direction of the swirl generator axis in the swirl generator interior.
- these burners have means for introducing fuel into the combustion air flow, which mixes as homogeneously as possible with the swirled combustion air in the swirl generator and in a mixing zone, for example a mixing tube, to be arranged downstream of the swirl generator.
- a cross-sectional jump in the axial flow cross-section At the outlet from the burner into the combustion chamber there is a cross-sectional jump in the axial flow cross-section. This causes the swirl flow to burst open and the formation of a central backflow zone which, as already described in detail above, can be used to stabilize a lean premix flame.
- FIG. 3 shows a preferred embodiment of one in the preamble of the claims characterized premix burner, as it is known from EP 0 321 809 became known.
- the burner consists essentially of one Swirl generator 100 for a combustion air flow, which consists of two conical Partial bodies 101, 102 is formed.
- FIG. 7 Cross section can be seen that the partial body 101 and 102 with their axes 101a and 102a relative to the burner axis 100a as well as mutually laterally are staggered. Because of this lateral offset of the partial body Tangential inlet slots 121 are formed between the partial bodies.
- a stream of combustion air flows through the tangential inlet slots 121 141 essentially tangentially into the interior 122 of the swirl generator 100 on.
- a swirl generator 100 of this type it is of course also possible to use a swirl generator 100 of this type to be carried out with a different number of partial bodies; in Fig. 8 that is perfect analog structure with, for example, four swirl generator partial bodies 101, 102, 103 and 104, with the axes 101a offset against one another, 102a, 103a, 104a of the partial body.
- FIG. 8 forms in Inside the swirl generator in a row a swirl flow 144, the axial Flow component to the downstream mouth of the swirl generator 100 points out.
- the partial bodies 101, 102 border on the downstream end of the Swirl generator 100 to a front plate 108.
- the front plate 108 usually forms the end wall of a combustion chamber 50 and is cooled in the normal case.
- cooling air 148 flows through cooling bores 1081 out.
- the interior 122 of the swirl generator 100 essentially has the Form one from an upstream to a downstream end of the swirl generator (100) or burner expanding truncated cone.
- the axial flow cross section formed in this way points at its downstream At the end, at the mouth into the combustion chamber 50, an abrupt cross-sectional expansion on.
- the cross-sectional jump leads to bursting the vortex flow 144 and to form a backflow zone 123 in Area of the burner mouth.
- the combustion air flow is in the swirl generator 100 a suitable amount of fuel supplied. In the embodiment are in the axial direction of the swirl generator 100, in the area of tangential inlet slots 121, fuel lines 111 along the partial body 101,102 arranged.
- a fuel amount 142 is about Fuel lines 111 brought up, and flows through the fuel outlet openings 1111 in the interior 122 of the swirl generator 100.
- This type The fuel admixture takes place frequently and preferably with gaseous fuels Use.
- a central fuel nozzle 113 can be used
- Fuel 146 in addition or as an alternative to fuel quantity 142 in FIGS Swirl generator interior 122 are introduced; in the example in Figure 3 this is a liquid fuel that has a spray cone 147 in the swirl generator interior formed. An intense occurs in the interior of the swirl generator 100 Mixing the amount of fuel 142 with the tangentially flowing Combustion air 141.
- Fig. 4 in one opposite Fig. 1 reproduced more detailed representation, is downstream of the Swirl generator 100 arranged a combustion gas mixing section 300, which protrudes into the combustion chamber 50.
- the configuration has a small one sudden cross-sectional expansion. This is sufficient to make a dead water Let 320 arise.
- the cross-sectional expansion also small enough so that the swirl flow 144 is largely undisturbed can continue to exist and extend transversely through the interior 310 of the combustion gas mixing section 300 stretched through.
- combustion gas passage channels 311 are arranged in the wall 301 of the Mixing section 300. These are advantageously arranged in an area in which the dead water 320 with the resulting negative pressure is effective. As a result, an amount of combustion gas 145 sucked into the mixing section 300. Within the combustion gas mixing section 300 these combustion gases 145 Mix largely homogeneously with the swirled fuel / air mixture. The temperature of the swirl flow 144 is determined by the mixing with the hot combustion gases 145 significantly increased. As elsewhere already explained, this increase in temperature increases the flame front speed and thus lowers the extinguishing limit temperature. With the same or The flame stability is therefore only insignificantly higher clearly improved.
- burners according to the preamble of the claims, which have cylindrical swirl generators with tangential combustion air inlets.
- a displacement body (105) which tapers towards the burner mouth in the interior of a cylindrical swirl generator.
- Such a swirl generator inner body (105) can also meet the above-mentioned favorable criteria for the axial flow cross section of the swirl generator, namely that the axial flow cross section increases in the axial flow direction.
- An embodiment of the invention with such a swirl generator is shown in Figure 5.

- the combustion gas mixing section (300) protruding into the combustion chamber (50) forms an abrupt cross-sectional widening of the interior (122) of the swirl generator (100) to the interior (322) of the mixing section (300).
- combustion gases (145) are sucked out of the combustion chamber (50) through the combustion gas passage channels (311) and largely homogeneous in the swirled fuel / air mixture (144) with formation of a mixing temperature distributed. To avoid repetition, reference is made to the explanations given there.
- transition channels 221 which generated the swirl generator 100 from the incoming combustion air Swirl flow 144 without sudden cross-sectional changes in the first Transfer mixing section.
- Downstream of the transition element 220 is the actual one Fresh gas mixing tube 230 arranged. In this first mixing tube 230 if necessary, the mixture of Combustion air and fuel.

- the centrally injected mass flow is increased so that the flame is driven away from the burner mouth, which reduces the heat load on the burner. On the other hand, this can lead to an undesirable reduction in flame stability. This is determined by the pulsation measuring point. If the pulsation signal X pulse increases, the centrally injected mass flow can be reduced in order to increase the combustion stability and to counteract the increase in the combustion pressure fluctuations. In this way, the central injection can be regulated depending on the relevant data measured.
Abstract
