Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pump intended to be fixed on a container for dispensing a product contained therein.
- a pump comprising a body of pump intended to be fixed on a container and comprising at least one vent allowing an air intake, a push button movable relative to the pump body between a low position and high position, a ball suction valve, a piston defining with the pump body a pumping chamber of variable volume and a distribution by which the pumping chamber can communicate with a orifice distribution.
- the piston is made in one piece with the push button, by molding matter.
- the push button can be screwed into the pump body in the low position for storage. The tightness of the pump is then obtained by pressing the push button against a conical surface of the pump body.
- Such a pump is relatively complex and difficult to achieve.
- the subject of the invention is in particular a pump corresponding to all or part of those needs.
- the pump comprises a pump body intended to be fixed on a container and comprising at least one vent allowing an air intake, a push button movable relative to the pump body between a low position and a high position, a suction valve comprising a shutter member, a piston defining with the pump body a pumping chamber of variable volume and a conduit through which the pumping chamber can communicate with an orifice distribution.
- the push button comprises a sealing skirt surrounding the duct of at least part of its height distribution, this sealing skirt being able to apply sealingly to the pump body when the pump is in the low position, to isolate the vent from the outside and the distribution duct is formed by an element attached to the push button.
- the pump can be manufactured relatively easily, does not requiring no complex shaped part.
- the piston is constituted by an attached element.
- the sealing skirt is made in one piece with the pushbutton.
- the piston is advantageously arranged to isolate the vent when the push button is in its up position.
- the piston preferably comprises two sealing lips annular, suitable to be applied respectively above and below the vent when the push button is in its high position.
- the distribution duct is able to bear against the shutter member of the suction valve when the push button is in its low position.
- the suction valve is kept closed, which reduces the risk of leaks during transport.
- the pump advantageously includes a spring arranged in the pumping so as to exert on the push button a restoring force bringing it back in its high position.
- the shutter member of the suction valve can be constituted by example by a ball retained in a cage made in one piece with the body of pump, this cage comprising at least one elastically deformable retention member capable of deforming when the ball is put in place.
- the distribution conduit is made in one piece with the piston and is stationary relative to the latter.
- the pump advantageously includes a discharge valve. comprising a shutter member, retained in a housing made in the distribution duct.
- Such a shutter member can be constituted for example by a ball.
- the housing receiving the shutter member of the discharge valve can be located in the upper part of the distribution duct.
- the shutter member of the discharge valve can be returned against a seat formed in the distribution duct by a spring bearing against the pushbutton.
- the shutter member of the discharge valve may still be free in his home.
- the push button advantageously forms an upper seat for the shutter member of the discharge valve, the latter coming to bear against this upper seat in the event of the container overturning, vacuum on the outside of the pump or of too rapid product exit.
- the distribution duct forms a lower seat against which the member shutter forming the discharge valve can come to bear when a vacuum is created in the pumping chamber, during normal pump operation.
- the housing receiving the shutter member of the discharge valve can still be located in the lower part of the distribution duct.
- the conduit distribution has a product inlet orifice opening laterally and the piston is movable relative to the distribution duct between a closed position in which it closes the inlet orifice and a dispensing position in which it leaves the inlet open.
- the distribution duct has an upper stop capable of to limit the upward movement of the piston relative to the distribution duct and a lower stop capable of limiting the downward movement of the piston relative to the distribution duct and one of the stops is arranged so that it can be crossed by the piston when the latter is placed on the distribution duct.
- It can be for example the upper stop, which is then able to be crossed by the piston when the latter is moved towards the lower stop during of its installation on the distribution duct.
- the pump body is made in one piece with a skirt of mounting allowing its fixing on the container.
- the pump body comprises a first member for retainer and the push button a second retainer capable of cooperating with the first to keep the push button in its low position during storage.
- the invention also relates to a container equipped with a pump such as defined above.
- the pump 1 shown in Figures 1 to 3 is intended to be fixed on a container not shown containing a liquid product.
- Pump 1 has a pump body 2 and a movable push button 3 along an axis X with respect to the pump body 2.

- the body 8 has a housing 9 of axis X used for fixing a conduit distribution 10 also on the X axis.
- the pump body 2 is made in one piece with a mounting skirt 11 internally threaded and intended to be screwed onto a container neck.
- the mounting skirt 11 is connected to the pump body 2 by a ring of matter 46.
- the pump body 2 has a vent 38 located below the level of the material ring 46.
- a seal may be placed at the bottom of the groove 13 formed between the mounting skirt 11 and the pump body 2 to seal the fixing of the pump body 2 on the container neck.
- the container neck may have at its upper end a bearing surface applied in a sealed manner against the pump body 2.
- the pump body 2 here comprises a cylindrical wall 14 of axis X and a bottom wall 15 generally perpendicular to the axis X.
- the bottom wall 15 is connected in its center to a nozzle 18, the part of which lower is used for mounting a not shown dip tube and a shoulder 19 against which can bear the upper end thereof.
- Elastic tabs 21 made in one piece with the bottom wall 15 form a cage 16 in which the ball 17 is retained.
- the legs 21 are provided at their upper end with teeth 22 preventing the ball 17 from leaving the cage 16 and are able to deform elastically during the introduction of the ball 17 into the cage 16.
- the ball 17 constitutes the shutter member of a suction valve, as will be explained later.
- the spring 50 can be arranged so as to retain the ball 17 in its housing.
- a piston 30 is mounted on the distribution duct 10 with a possibility sliding relative to the latter.
- the piston 30 defines with the tubular wall 14 and the bottom wall 15 a pumping chamber 34.
- the distribution duct 10 has an opening 32 opening laterally and the piston 30 is movable between a dispensing position in which it abuts against an upper stop 33, as shown in Figure 2, the orifice intake 32 then being released, and a filling position of the pumping 34 in which the piston 30 closes the inlet port 32, as can be see in figure 1.
- the intake port 32 is bordered below by a conical surface 35 and the piston 30 has a conical surface 36 of complementary shape, suitable for coming resting against the surface 35 when the piston is in its closed position.
- the piston 30 has at its periphery two annular sealing lips 40 and 41 sealingly applying to the tubular wall 14.
- Pump 1 includes a spring 50 working in compression, taking support at one axial end against the bottom wall 15 and at the other end against the flue distribution 10.
- the material ring 46 is provided with a first locking member 47 and the locking skirt 7 comprises a second locking member 48 able to cooperate with it when the push button 3 is in its low position, as illustrated on Figure 3.
- the first locking member 47 is constituted, in the example of embodiment described, by a hook directed towards the X axis and the second locking member 48 by a rim directed towards the outside, capable of being brought under the aforementioned hook by a rotary movement of the push button 3 relative to the pump body 2.
- the first and second organs of locking consist of complementary threads.
- the distribution duct 10 has an extension 49 at the bottom extending downward along the X axis and able to bear against the ball 17 when the push button 3 is in the low position, as illustrated in Figure 3.
- pump 1 The operation of pump 1 is as follows.
- the pump is primed, i.e. the pumping chamber 34 filled with product.
- the user presses the push button 3 in the pump body 2.
- the piston 30 comes to bear against the upper stop 33 and the orifice 32 is cleared.
- the product can reach the inside of the distribution duct 10 and the output 4, as illustrated in figure 2.
- the ball 17 of the suction valve is held pressed against its seat 20 by the pressure of the product in the pumping chamber 34 and prevents the return of the product in the container.
- the downward movement of the push button 3 is carried out until support of the locking skirt 7 against the material ring 46, the push button 3 being in an orientation relative to the pump body 2 such that the organs of locking 47 and 48 do not cooperate.
- vent 38 is clear, the annular lip 40 coming in support on the tubular wall 14 below the level thereof, so that a recovery air can be effected through the vent 38 and by the clearance existing between the locking skirt 7 and the pump body 2, the sealing skirt 6 not sealingly bearing against the tubular wall 14 only at the end of the push-in stroke of the push button 3.
- the piston 30 then moves relative to the distribution duct 10 up to come into abutment against the lower stop 35 and close off the intake orifice 32.
- the volume of the pumping chamber 34 increases under the effect of the expansion of the spring 50 and of the product is sucked therein, the ball 17 moving away from its seat 20.
- the piston 30 closes the orifice inlet 32 of the distribution duct 10 and isolates the vent 38 from the outside.
- the inside of the container is isolated from the outside, which allows good conservation of the product.
- the user press the push button 3 until the locking skirt 7 abuts against the material ring 46, then turns a quarter turn for example the push button 3 relative to the pump body 2 in order to bring the flange 48 under the hook 47.
- the upper stop 33 is arranged so that it can be crossed elastically by the piston 30 when the latter is moved towards the lower stop 35.
- the pump 51 shown in Figure 4 has a distribution conduit 52 which has an inlet port 53 opening laterally, bordered below by an annular wall 54 defining a conical surface 55 diverging upwards.
- the pump 51 also includes a piston 58 which has a lip annular 56 capable of coming to be applied sealingly against the annular wall 54 when in its closed position.
- the pump 51 comprises a pump body 2 and a push button 3 identical to those which have been previously described.
- the pump shown in FIG. 4 differs from that which has just been described by the shape of the lower part of the distribution duct and by that of the central part of the piston which cooperates therewith.
- the pump 61 shown in FIG. 5 differs from the pumps previously described by the fact that it comprises a piston 62 produced integrally with a conduit distribution 63.
- the piston 62 has at its periphery two annular lips 40 and 41, at like the piston 30 previously described.
- the distribution duct 63 has a narrowing at the bottom of section defining a seat 64 for a ball 65.
- This ball 65 constitutes the shutter member of a discharge valve. able to open under the pressure of the product contained in the pumping chamber 34.
- the distribution duct 63 opens out below into the pumping 34 through an axial orifice 66, the latter being formed at the end of a lip annular 68 converging inwards and downwards.
- the spring 50 is applied at its lower end against the bottom wall 15 and at its upper end against the piston 62.
- the operation of the pump 61 is as follows.
- the volume of the chamber pumping 34 decreases, the ball 65 lifts in the distribution duct 63 while that the ball 17 is pressed against its seat 20.
- the ball 65 is placed inside of the distribution duct 63 then the latter is fixed to the push button 3.
- the pump 71 represented in FIG. 6 differs from that which has just been described by the fact that the seat 72 of the ball 65 is formed in the upper part of a conduit distribution 73.
- the ball 65 is held pressed against its seat 72 by a spring 74 working in compression and bearing on its upper end on the push button 3.
- the ball 65 is introduced into the conduit distribution 73, the spring 74 is put in place and the distribution duct 73 is fixed on push button 3.
- the pump 81 shown in FIG. 7 differs from the pumps described in reference to FIGS. 5 and 6 by the fact that it comprises a distribution duct 83 made in one piece with a tubular wall 84, the lower end of which is connected with annular lips 40 and 41.
- the assembly formed by the distribution conduit 83 and the tubular wall 84 is attached to a push button 85, which differs from the push button 3 previously described simply by the fact that the housing 9 used for fixing the distribution conduit has been expanded.
- the distribution duct 83 has a narrowing in the upper part of its inner section defining a lower seat 87 for the ball 65.
- the outlet channel 4 communicates with the distribution conduit 83 by a mouthpiece having a frustoconical wall converging upwards, defining a upper seat 90 against which the ball 65 can come to bear in the event of the rollover container, vacuum outside the pump, or too rapid dispensing of product.
- the spring 50 is supported here at its lower end on the bottom wall 15 and bears at its upper end against the wall 95 which connects the tubular wall 84 to the distribution duct 83.
- sealing skirt 6 of the embodiment of Figures 1 to 3 can be extended downwards so as to close the vent 38 in the low position push button 3.
