Abstract

The safety barrier, comprising at least one horizontal rail (3) fastened to vertical supports (1) via spacers (2), and a lower screen (10) to prevent two-wheeled vehicles sliding under it in the event of an accident, has the screen fitted below the rail on brackets (14) made from a material and with dimensions that allow them to bend under the force of a substantial impact, with the screen pivoting relative to the rail. The brackets are in the form of separate components attached to the rail and screen by fixings (18, 19).

Description

The present invention relates to safety barriers which are placed along railways. vehicle traffic and which include at least one rail parallel to the ground and vertical supports.

These barriers have the drawback of leaving a lower space under the beam, of sufficient height for an accidental motorcyclist slipping on the ground to be seriously injured, either because it gets stuck between the ground and the lower part of the boom, or because it is projected against the vertical supports located behind the arm, supports which are numerous, rigid and blunt, that is to say extremely dangerous.

So that these barriers are protective not only for car passengers, trucks and coaches but also for motorbike users with or without sidecar, and a generally for anyone who is accidentally thrown into the path of traffic, we have already thought of filling the lower space by means of a flat screen, formed of plates fixed end to end.

However, the solutions known to date have not been entirely satisfactory, in particular due to the rigidity specific to the screens offered and the fixing difficulties they lead.

To fix the state of the art, the following documents can be cited:
  • Patent FR 2 556 755 which describes an intermediate part placed between the heald and each vertical support, well known in itself by the name of "spacer", and which differs from current parts in that it has "mounting means allowing the attachment of additional members ”, these with regard to the present description, which may be a vertical screen arranged under the beam. This solution is to be excluded because the mounting means are essentially holes to receive bolts, as specified in claim 2 of this patent, and these holes seriously modify the mechanical characteristics of the spacer, and this is the barrier All of which should be redesigned to be able to play its role despite the weakening of the spacers.
  • Patent FR 2 751 998 which describes a device intended in particular for "stopping a biker after a fall", which consists of the assembly of parts in a box which must surround the vertical supports with a safety barrier and joined by metal rods horizontal.

  • les caissons proprement dits sont creux et en matière synthétique, de sorte qu'ils présentent une élasticité propre dont le défaut majeur est de repousser la personne et/ou la moto accidentée sur la voie de circulation lorsque cette personne et/ou cette moto est projetée contre eux, alors que l'on recherche toujours à éviter cet effet de retour élastique pour des raisons évidentes de sécurité ;
These boxes are of a very high price, not only because of their manufacturing cost but also because of the difficulty of assembly, because it is necessary to assemble the boxes on site, to engage the horizontal metal rods, to achieve a correct alignment and ensure blocking the assembly. When everything is in place, the result obtained is practically unusable because of the mechanical characteristics of this device which, far from absorbing shocks and protecting an accident victim, has on the contrary two disadvantages which are cumulative:
  • the boxes themselves are hollow and made of synthetic material, so that they have their own elasticity, the major defect of which is to repel the person and / or the motorcycle involved in the road when this person and / or this motorcycle is thrown against them, while we always try to avoid this elastic return effect for obvious security reasons;
  • the horizontal metal rods are supported on the vertical supports and this assembly is very rigid, therefore very aggressive for an object thrown against it, motorcycle or human body.

Consequently, an object thrown against this device rebounds towards the traffic lane when the impact is not too great and crashes against the rod - support assembly when the impact is severe. We can add that the plastic boxes can be damaged and then have tears whose edges are likely to injure a body.
  • Patent DE 299 03 787 which describes a safety barrier, the beam of which is specifically produced in the form of a box 3 under which a screen 5 is fixed directly, without a bending arm and which comprises struts 30 which brace the screen 5 and the vertical supports 16. The absence of arms forming as many resistant deflection elements, and by which the screen is suspended, as well as the presence of the struts 30 radically oppose the upward pivoting of the screen 5 when it receives a significant shock. The boom is of a specific model which does not exist anywhere in reality and which does not correspond to standard structures. Consequently, and unlike the invention, the screen 5 cannot be installed on existing safety barriers.
  • Patent FR 2 546 932 which describes a safety barrier having a screen 25 which is fixed at its upper part and at its lower part, which prohibits any pivoting of the screen when it receives a significant shock. Moreover, the tabs 26 by which the screen 25 is fixed to the vertical supports 12-13 (according to the embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6) are not functional elements which participate in the absorption of shocks, but of simple fixing elements. In the event of a significant impact on the screen 25, it does not pivot since none of its two upper and lower horizontal edges is free, and can therefore only deform in force, without modification of its position, which is fixed due to its immobilization in the upper part and in the lower part.

The present invention deviates entirely from known solutions and makes it possible to carry out protective screens easy to mount and benefiting from the same energy absorption effects, without elasticity, that the approved barrier rails.

To this end, the invention relates to a safety barrier intended to be placed along of vehicle traffic lanes, which includes at least one horizontal rail subjected to vertical supports and which further comprises a lower screen called "protective" having two edges respectively upper and lower, and intended to oppose the passage under the arm of a damaged two-wheeled vehicle, sliding flat on the track traffic and / or its user fallen to the ground, characterized in that the lower screen of protection is connected to the barrier only by being suspended by arms which extend above from the upper edge of the lower screen and which are attached to the single beam or to that of the smooth which is closest to the ground, the lower screen extending freely, with no other fixation than that of the arms, in a substantially vertical mean plane located clearly in below the vertical supports for an observer located on the traffic lane, said arms being made of a material and according to dimensions such that they constitute elements barrier functional, calibrated to flex non-elastically and leave the screen lower pivot with resistance, under the effect of a significant shock that this screen receives during a circulation accident.

Figures 14, 15 and 16 are schematic sectional views of a barrier according to the invention, having an upper protective screen fixed to arms subject to the heald at three different places, namely respectively in the upper part of the upper wave, in part median of the arm and in the lower part of the upper wave.

En se reportant aux figures 1 et 2, on voit une barrière de sécurité conforme à l'invention qui, avec cet exemple, est réalisée à partir d'une base standard, à savoir des supports verticaux 1 fixés au sol, des écarteurs 2 fixés à la partie haute des supports 1 et une lisse 3 formée par des segments de profilés métalliques fixés les uns aux autres avec un léger recouvrement des extrémités aval par les extrémités amont (dans le sens de la circulation des véhicules), en « écailles de poisson », comme cela est bien connu, la lisse présentant deux ondes longitudinales superposées 4 et 5, symétriques par rapport à un méplat 6 et prolongées par des ailes respectivement 7 et 8 dont les bords libres sont dirigées à l'opposé de la voie A de circulation des véhicules, située à l'avant de la figure 1.Referring to Figures 1 and 2, we see a safety barrier according to the invention which, with this example, is made from a standard base, namely supports vertical 1 fixed to the ground, spacers 2 fixed to the upper part of the supports 1 and a rail 3 formed by segments of metal profiles fixed to each other with a slight overlapping of the downstream ends by the upstream ends (in the direction of circulation of the vehicles), in “fish scales”, as is well known, the stringer having two longitudinal waves superimposed 4 and 5, symmetrical with respect to a flat 6 and extended by wings 7 and 8 respectively, the free edges of which are directed away from track A for vehicle traffic, located at the front of Figure 1.

According to the invention, the security barrier comprises a lower screen of protection 10 which, in FIG. 1, is presented in front of the barrier, before it is put in place, whereas in FIG. 2 it is represented in its place, suspended from the heddle 3 by arms 11 and completely hiding the space between the bottom of the heald 3 and the ground.

With the example of FIGS. 1 and 2, the barrier has an arm 11 in line with each support vertical 1 and each of these arms 11 is constituted by a metal strip, in particular in galvanized steel like the arm 3, and folded to present an upper base 12, a lower base 13 and a middle part 14 having, here, two branches in V 15 and 16.

The upper base 12 is notched with a slot 17 intended to be located opposite one or several holes (not visible in the drawing) drilled for this purpose in the rail 3, the fixing of the arm 11 by its base 12 being made by means of one or more bolts 18 passing through the holes in the arm 3 and the slot 17 behind which each bolt 18 is blocked with a nut 19.

The vertical base 13 is crossed by a vertical light 20 intended to be opposite an equally vertical light 21 made in the screen 10.

The screen 10 is formed from a sheet folded near its two longitudinal sides to form a flat central part and two flanges at 45 °, respectively upper 22 and lower 23. The upper edge 22 applies exactly on branch 16 of middle part 14 in the position shown in Figure 2 which corresponds to the assumption that the lower edge 23 of the screen 10 must occupy its maximum low position to be close to the ground, while sparing a small space.

If the arm 3 was closer to the ground, the screen 10 could be raised, which we obtain thanks to the cooperation of the two lights 20 and 21 because they can occupy different relative height positions without preventing the fixing of a bolt 18 and its locking nut 19.

As a reminder, it is recalled that the rail 3 is fixed to the spacers 2 by bolts 18 engaged on the one hand in holes (not visible in the drawing) formed in the flat 6 and on the other hand in the front face of each spacer 2, these bolts 18 also being blocked by standard nuts 19.

Après quoi, on procède comme d'habitude : mise en place des supports verticaux 1 et des écarteurs 2, puis fixation de la lisse 3 (figure 1).A safety barrier according to the invention can be produced from scratch by mounting of new components, in which case the beam holes intended for fixing the arms 11 are made in the workshop. After which, we proceed as usual: setting up vertical supports 1 and spacers 2, then fixing of the arm 3 (figure 1).

Then, we place the arms 11 and we fix them to the arm 3, then we present the screen 10 (figure 1) and it is applied against the lower bases 13 of the arms 11, as suggested by the dotted arrows. We engage the bolts 18 in the adjoining lights 20 and 21 and we adjust the height of the screen 10 before blocking the bolts 18 with nuts 19, as explained above.

This gives a safety barrier with a lower protection screen, as this is shown in figure 2.

However, a safety barrier according to the invention can also be produced from a existing base already assembled on site: vertical supports 1, spacers 2 and beam 3.

After drilling and fixing the arms 11, we find ourselves in the situation of FIG. 1, and we finish the realization by fixing the screen segments to the arms 11, after adjusting their height. It is observed that here the upper fixing base 12 is applied against the lower part beam, wave 4 and / or wing 7.

The middle part 14 of the V-shaped arm 11 allows at least deformation partially by pivoting of the screen 10 according to arrow F1, as shown schematically in FIG. 2. Since the arm 11 is made from a metal strip, the deformation that undergoes the middle part 14 during a substantial horizontal shock is final, that is to say that there is no elastic return and the resistance to deformation is established by calculating suitably the thickness of the metal strip constituting the arm 11, taking into account the chosen metal.

But above all, the total freedom of the screen 10 at its lower part (whose edge 23 is above of the ground) and the fixing of the arm 11 on the heddle 3, and very particularly in the lower part of it, allow to benefit from the deformability specific to the heald 3, so that the screen 10, the arms 11 and the heddle 3 together constitute a deformable structure whose characteristics result from the more or less complex combination of faculties specific to each of the components.

In FIG. 1, it can be seen that the screen 10 is crossed by other lights in addition to the light 21. A light 24 is aligned and below the light 21, and two other lights 25 and 26 located one above the other, aligned horizontally respectively with the light 21 and with light 24.

These lights are intended to receive bolts for fixing a screen segment to a another identical segment (not shown), the end of one covering the end of the other in fish scales, like the segments constituting the stringer 3. However, good results have been found in tests by not fixing the screen segments to each other but, on the contrary, leaving a narrow gap between them, which allows the screen segments to deform individually, depending on the point of impact, thanks to what the deformation is obtained with less kinetic energy, thus causing in the accident victim a less traumatic reaction. In addition, the screen segments neighbors are not deformed, the restoration of the barrier is more simple and lower cost.

Referring now to Figure 3, we see that the plate 12 of the arm 11 to which the screen 10 is suspended is still subject to the lower part of the heddle 3, below the flat 6, but at the top of wave 4 and no longer at the bottom.

In FIG. 4, we see the arm 11 alone, the lower base 13 of which is vertical and in the extension of the middle part 14, itself flat and vertical.

This embodiment is well suited to barriers whose wings 7 and 8 extend little towards the back of the barrier because the arm 11 can descend directly to below the level the lower wing 7.

With this embodiment, the screen 10 has no upper edge 22 and its leveling is does not make simple vertical translation on the arms 11 previously fixed.

La figure 5 représente une variante du mode de réalisation précédent adapté au cas où l'on souhaite que l'écran 10 ait aussi le rebord supérieur 22, notamment pour des raisons de rigidité car, comme on le sait, un pli longitudinal sur une tôle en vue de créer un rebord est un moyen de rigidification, du fait de l'empêchement que cela crée à son fléchissement transversal.FIG. 5 represents a variant of the previous embodiment adapted to the case where one would like the screen 10 to also have the upper edge 22, in particular for reasons of rigidity because, as we know, a longitudinal fold on a sheet to create a flange is a means of stiffening, due to the impediment that this creates to its deflection transverse.

Now, it is necessary to be able to best adjust the height of the screen 10 relative to the ground, and the rim 22 must be able to be in height.

The arm 11 (FIG. 6) therefore has a middle portion 14 whose profile is adapted to the correct positioning of the upper base 12 under the upper part of the wave lower 4, and lower base 13 behind screen 10, below the level of ledge 22.

The upper base 12 is identical to that of the arm 11 of FIG. 4, and is integral with a inclined plane 27 whose slope corresponds to that of the spacer 2 which it avoids (to which it is not fixed), inclined plane 27 which is connected to a vertical part 28 itself connected to a oblique return 29 secured to the lower base 13.

The fixing of the screen 10 to the lower base 13 is always done by bolting the lights 20 and 24 and we have shown here that we could no longer provide a single set bolt 18 - nut 19 but two superimposed (figure 5).

We see in Figure 5 that the screen 10 is in the high position while it is in the low position in FIG. 4, in accordance with the indications given above for the adjustment in screen height 10.

En se reportant maintenant aux figures 7 et 8, on voit deux modes de réalisation analogues à ceux des figures 3 et 5 pour ce qui est du profil des bras 11 et qui ont pour caractéristique de prévoir la fixation des bras 11 à la lisse 3 par le même système et au même endroit que la fixation de la lisse 3 aux écarteurs 2, c'est-à-dire que l'embase de fixation supérieure 12 est placée entre la face avant de l'écarteur 2 et la face arrière du méplat 6 de la lisse 3.Referring now to Figures 7 and 8, we see two embodiments similar to those of FIGS. 3 and 5 as regards the profile of the arms 11 and which have the characteristic of provide for the attachment of the arms 11 to the arm 3 by the same system and in the same place as the attachment of the arm 3 to the spacers 2, that is to say that the upper fixing base 12 is placed between the front face of the spacer 2 and the rear face of the flat 6 of the heddle 3.

Besides the simplification of the fixing by the same bolts 18 - nuts 19 placed in the standard holes of the spacer 2 and of the arm 3, this arrangement has the advantage of raising the attachment area of the arms 11 and thus gives them more height, so that their radius of pivoting under the effect of a horizontal shock at the bottom of the screen 10 is longer.

Sur la figure 8, l'axe de pivotement est la ligne de pliage qui joint le plan incliné 27 et la partie verticale 28.In FIG. 7, it can be seen that the pivoting along arrow F2 has as its axis the horizontal line of the front face of the spacer 2 against which the arm 11 folds. In FIG. 8, the axis of pivoting is the fold line which joins the inclined plane 27 and the vertical part 28.

La figure 9 représente une variante du mode de réalisation de la figure 8, selon laquelle l'embase inférieure de fixation 13 est munie d'un prolongement oblique 30 dont la longueur et l'inclinaison vers l'arrière sont déterminées de telle manière que le bord libre de ce prolongement soit au contact du support vertical 1 au droit duquel il est placé.FIG. 9 represents a variant of the embodiment of FIG. 8, according to which the lower fixing base 13 is provided with an oblique extension 30 whose length and the backward inclination are determined in such a way that the free edge of this extension is in contact with the vertical support 1 to the right of which it is placed.

When a shock is applied to the screen 10, the latter moves back and rotates the arm 11 as that of FIG. 8, according to arrow F4 but, moreover, the extension 30 deforms towards the bottom and rubs against the vertical support 1 while behaving like a deforming element which brakes the pivoting of the screen 10 and adds to its resistance.

We choose the parameters in question: nature and thickness of the metal, length of the radius of pivoting (equivalent to a lever arm), arm profile, etc. depending on flexibility sought, being recalled that this flexibility should not be confused with the elasticity which is a serious flaw here, so flexibility is here, for the security screen, the greater or lesser ability to deform in the direction of the shock received, without returning to the opposite direction, in order to best absorb the kinetic energy of this shock.

This safety barrier comprises three superimposed rails 40, 41 and 42 fixed directly to vertical supports 1, without interposition of spacers, and whose profile does not have wave since it is closed on itself.

The lower safety screen 10 is suspended from arms 11 of profile close to that of the arm of Figure 7, although the middle part 14 which connects the upper fixing base 12 and the lower fixing base 13 is formed of a simple inclined segment whose utility is not to avoid the free edge of a wing since there is neither wave nor wing here, but to defer towards taxiway A the vertical plane of screen 10, so that it is below (for an observer located on taxiway A) of the front face of the bottom rail 42 and a gusset 43 forming part of the structure of the barrier.

The upper base 12 is secured to the rail 42 by the same fixing means as those which fix the heald 42 to a vertical support 1, which is analogous to what is described above opposite Figures 7 and 8.

The fixing of the screen 10 requires only sets of bolts 18 - nuts 19 for the lower base 13, the other fastening elements being in any case necessary for the fixing the arm 42 to the vertical supports 1.

The application of the invention to this type of barrier is therefore particularly simple since all the elements can be prepared in the workshop and mounted on site on a barrier already in square. The only possible adaptation is to replace the existing bolts that fix the boom 42 to vertical supports 1 by slightly longer bolts, to allow insertion of the upper base 12, and this as a function of the thickness thereof.

In FIGS. 11 and 12, a safety barrier of known type is shown, comprising a wooden beam 50 subject to vertical supports 51 also made of wood.

There are variants of these barriers: some have a wooden beam and supports vertical metal, bare or covered with wood, others have wooden beams reinforced with metal profiles interposed between the wooden part of the beam and the vertical supports, etc. We wanted to show here the adaptation of the invention to a heddle partially or totally in wood.

The wood solution is chosen for aesthetic reasons, so as not to change the appearance natural of a landscape by a manufactured metal barrier, the wood almost passing unnoticed or, in any case, always being very well integrated into a landscape.

This concern leads to making the security barrier as discreet as possible and we strive to make the safety barrier (intended for vehicle traffic lanes) look like a traditional barrier, generally installed to avoid the wandering of animals.

The security screen must therefore also "be forgotten" and we avoid the use of elements more or less visible metallic, in particular the arms 11 which are virtual here, that is to say not differentiated from screen 10 proper.

This is then designed to have a continuous upper extension 10 a , pierced with holes (not visible in the drawing) distributed over the entire length of the screen 10, at a certain distance from the free edge of the extension 10 a and in each which is engaged a fixing member such as a lag screw 52 screwed into the wood of the heddle 50.

The extension 10 has a curved shape along an arc of the same radius as that of the heald 1 in order to be able to be applied against said heald 50, according to a more or less extended arc. In FIG. 11, the extension 10 a is applied under the heald 50 and in an area located in front of the vertical axis x of the heald 50, the screen 10 thus suspended must always be located clearly in front of the vertical supports 51 , as explained above several times.

In this situation, the extension 10 a is relatively small since it only has to be applied on a small arc.

In FIG. 12, the extension 10 a is applied under the heald 50 and in an area situated behind the vertical axis x of the heald 50 and since the screen 10 must always be suspended clearly in front of the vertical supports 51, here the extension 10a is more extensive since it must be applied to an arc at least equal to that which covers the circumference of the heald 50 from the free edge of the extension 10 a to the vertical axis x .

Screen 10 could be planar, as described and shown for the embodiments precedents.

However, when the heald 50 is formed by the abutment of sections of wood, its part the lower is higher than the lowest part of a two-wave metal profile, so that the lever arm, equal to the length of the screen pivot axis 10 during a shock, is very large and could make screen 10 too flexible.

This is why there is shown in these figures 11 and 12 a screen 10 having a shape profile. wavy for its stiffening.

In FIG. 11, the screen 10 presents, for an observer located on the lane A of circulation of the vehicles, two longitudinal concavities 10 b and 10 c and two longitudinal convexities 10 d and 10 e .

The lower convexity 10 e has a lower extension 10 f of equal or similar radius of curvature, in order to form a wing capable of coming into contact with one or more vertical supports 51, in order to produce the same effects as those described opposite. Figure 9 about the extension 30, and which will therefore not be repeated here.

In FIG. 12, the screen 10 presents, for an observer located on the lane A of circulation of the vehicles, a single longitudinal concavity 10g between two longitudinal convexities 10 h and 10 i .

The lower convexity 10 i has a lower extension 10 j of equal or similar radius of curvature, in order to form a wing capable of coming into contact with one or more vertical supports 51, in order to produce the same effects as those described opposite. Figure 9 about the extension 30, and which will therefore not be repeated here.

In FIG. 13, we see a particular embodiment of the invention according to which the barrier includes a wooden beam 50 and vertical supports also made of wood 51, but the heald 50 has a longitudinal groove 53 in which there is a metal profile 54 in section "in C".

The core 55 of the profile 54 is placed in the bottom of the groove and the branches 56 have the same depth than the groove 53, so that the returns 57 are flush with the outer contour of the stringer 50 and create, by facing each other, a narrower longitudinal slot 58 than groove 53.

The screen 10 is suspended from the arm 50 by arms 11 having an upper fixing base 12 and a lower mounting base 13 both vertical and offset, joined by a slightly oblique central part 14.

The base 12 is notched with a slot 17 for a bolt 18 tightened by a special nut 59 (of known type of the skilled person) of oblong shape allowing to introduce it horizontally in the slot 58 and which locks against the branches 56 of the profile 54 when placed in an upright position.

Grâce à ce blocage, l'écrou 59 est immobilisé et l'on peut visser le boulon 18 de l'extérieur pour fixer l'embase 12 du bras 11 à n'importe quel endroit du profilé 54 et, donc, de la lisse 3.Thanks to this blocking, the nut 59 is immobilized and the bolt 18 can be screwed from the outside to fix the base 12 of the arm 11 at any point of the profile 54 and, therefore, of the arm 3.

Cette dernière est fixée aux supports verticaux 51 par tous moyens connus, indépendamment de la fixation des bras 11 devant supporter l'écran 10.The latter is fixed to the vertical supports 51 by any known means, independently fixing the arms 11 to support the screen 10.

Comme on l'a déjà décrit, l'écran 10 est fixé à l'embase 13 du bras 11 par un boulon 18 et un écrou 19.As already described, the screen 10 is fixed to the base 13 of the arm 11 by a bolt 18 and a nut 19.

En se reportant maintenant aux figures 14 à 16, on voir un mode de réalisation de l'invention selon trois variantes différentes et qui consiste à équiper la barrière de sécurité d'un écran de sécurité supérieur, indépendamment de l'écran de sécurité inférieur 10 que l'on a décrit en regard des figures 1 à 13.Referring now to Figures 14 to 16, we see an embodiment of the invention according to three different variants and which consists in equipping the security barrier with a screen of higher security, independently of the lower security screen 10 which has been described in see Figures 1 to 13.

Experience has shown that in an accident, vehicle passengers are sometimes projected in height and fall on the safety barrier. This is more particularly the case motorbike, pilot or passenger users, although this also happens for users of passenger cars or coaches which are sometimes thrown out of the vehicle. However, the existing safety barriers are all designed to minimize the consequences of lateral and not vertical shocks, from top to bottom.

Vertical supports, with or without spacers, are particularly aggressive for a body human falling on them with force, because these supports have a vertical inertia and rigidity very important which makes them absolutely incapable of absorbing the kinetic energy of a body falling on them and, if we accept to consider as negligible the material damage that they can provoke to a vehicle, it is obviously not the same for the assaults on people, because vertical supports transfer all the energy kinetics on the human body which, most of the time, does not resist it and the result is very serious fractures, including that of the pelvis, broken spine, including cervical vertebrae, stomach perforations, etc.

The stringer itself can become dangerous if a human body is thrown over it low or back to front because the free edge of the upper wing becomes sharp and we have observed almost complete decapitation.

The upper screen 60 according to the invention extends horizontally from front to back and its free edge 61 furthest from track A is beyond the level of the supports vertical 1, like an awning.

The screen 60 is subject to the rail 3 by arms 62 similar to the arms 11, therefore comprising a fixing base 63 for their securing to the arm 3, a fixing base 64 for their subjection to the screen 60 and an intermediate part 65 which may have different profiles according to the particular shapes of the elements that make up the safety barrier.

It is observed that the screen 60 is held only by one of its longitudinal sides, in order for it allow to yield from top to bottom by pivoting according to the same principle as that which was described above for screen 10.

In FIG. 14, the arm 62 is fixed under the upper part of the heddle 3 and its base 63 is shaped so that it is properly applied against the upper wing 8 of the heddle 3 and, in in certain cases, provision can be made for the base 63 to be applied partly against the wing 8 and partly against the upper wave 5.

The upper screen 60 is flat and has a stiffening edge 66 folded down towards the ground to avoid any risk due to the sharp edge of the free edge 61.

In FIG. 15, we see a variant according to which the arm 11 of the lower screen 10 and the arms 62 of the upper screen 60 are in one piece and have a mounting base 12 - 63 common, placed between the flat 6 of the arm 3 and the front face of the spacer 2, thanks to which the lower 11 and upper 62 arms are produced in a single folding operation and fixed the single arm which results therefrom by means of the same members for fixing the heald 3 to the face front of retractor 2.

Sur la figure 16, l'écran inférieur 10 est fixé par l'embase 12 du bras 11 à la partie supérieure de l'onde inférieure 4 et l'écran supérieur 60 est fixé par l'embase 63 du bras 62 à la partie inférieure de l'onde supérieure 5.In FIG. 16, the lower screen 10 is fixed by the base 12 of the arm 11 to the upper part of the lower wave 4 and the upper screen 60 is fixed by the base 63 of the arm 62 to the part lower of the upper wave 5.

This arrangement has the advantage that the attachments of the two arms 11 and 62 are symmetrical by relative to the flat 6 and to the members for fixing the arm 3 to the spacer 2.

The fixing members are advantageously sets of bolts 18 - nuts 19 and for that the bolt heads are not aggressive in the event of impact, the bolts 18 are of preferably of the round head type, and are engaged in deep-drawn trough holes, as well as this is well known in itself. This precaution is particularly recommended for the fixing the upper screen 60 to the arms 62.

The invention makes it possible to adapt a lower protective screen 10 and / or higher 60 to all the types of safety barriers since one can easily adapt the profile of the arms to that of the different beams possible.

The stringer 3 in FIG. 16 has a slightly different profile from that of the struts in the figures. previous but we still named "wave" the parts in higher relief and lower, although both have flat fronts as this does not change the application of the invention. This profile is well known in itself and we see that the wings lower 7 and upper 8 are relatively short. To prevent the free edge of the wing upper 8 is freely exposed and thus presents a potential danger, we could give to the middle part 65 of the arms 62 a profile such that this middle part 65 is inclined towards the free edge of wing 8, then folded backwards to fill the space beyond this free edge, which in no way reduces the flexion capacity of the arms 62.
