- the subject of the invention is a safety barrier intended to be arranged along vehicle taxiways, comprising, in the use position, at least one horizontal rail subject to vertical supports as well as a lower screen.
- said "protection" intended to oppose the passage under the smooth of a user accident, including two wheels, sliding flat on the taxiway, the lower protection screen being formed by the longitudinal assembly of segments horizontal, in which each horizontal segment is of composite structure comprising at least one continuous longitudinal reinforcement combined with at least one slip element sufficiently permanently deformable to absorb at least a portion of a shock caused by the user and sufficiently rigid to allow a continuous sliding of the user.
- the safety barriers presented do not include a slide but only a screen called “protection”, and this, in order not to overload the figures.
- the structures are exploded to bring out the assembly.
- a safety barrier in reality, a safety barrier according to the invention and intended to be arranged along vehicle taxiways, comprises, in the use position, at least one horizontal rail subject to vertical supports and a lower screen located between the rail and the ground.
- This screen is particularly intended to oppose the passage under the smooth of a user of two wheels accident, sliding flat on the taxiway.
- the lower protection screen is formed by the assembly longitudinal of horizontal segments located between the vertical supports and generally associated on said supports.
- each horizontal segment is of composite structure and comprises at least one continuous longitudinal reinforcement combined with at least one sliding element sufficiently deformable to absorb at least a portion of a shock caused by a user accidentally and rigid enough to allow a continuous sliding of the user, that is to say without encountering a salient obstacle in the screen such as a vertical support.
- the figure 1 represents a safety barrier comprising a screen 1, for an observer located behind the barrier relative to the traffic lane.
- the view is located at a vertical support 100 where two horizontal segments 110, 120 of screens are assembled longitudinally, each horizontal segment comprising two continuous metal longitudinal reinforcements 111, 112 combined with a sliding element 113 of material taken in the group consisting of synthetic materials, composite materials, wood and combinations of these materials.
- the first segment 110 of composite structure comprises two metal reinforcements 111, 112, and a sliding element 113 of synthetic material and more particularly of a plastic of the polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type, etc.
- a sliding element 113 of synthetic material and more particularly of a plastic of the polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type, etc.

- the sliding elements 113, 123 consist of a convex face 117, 127 in an arc of circle having two ends, each integral with a planar face 118, 119, 128, 129. In the position of use, these planar faces 118, 119, 128, 129 are vertical and applied against the metal reinforcements 111, 112, 121 and 122.
- the sliding elements 113, 123 are secured to the metal reinforcements 111-112 and 121-122, respectively, by means of bolts 130.
- the assembly of the two horizontal segments 110 and 120 on the vertical upright 100 is obtained by fixing each segment 110, 120 on a junction plate 135, itself coupled to an attachment arm 140 secured to the vertical support 100 by the intermediate of a spacer 145.
- the guardrail (not shown) to be fixed to the spacer, the safety screen 1 is suspended under the slide by the attachment arms 140.
- the sliding elements 113, 123 have a zone Zr of overlap located opposite the junction plate 135.
- the sliding elements have only their convex surface 117-127 so that they can overlap to ensure the continuity of the sliding elements all along the barrier.
- the different sliding elements overlap in "fish scale", that is to say that, with reference to the direction of flow, the upstream element covers the downstream element.
- the figure 2 is a sectional view of the figure 1 according to line II-II.
- the sliding element 113 of synthetic material is profiled to determine a deformable convex zone.
- the figure 2bis represents the screen 1 of the figure 2 after a slight shock.

- the deformation may be final.
- This solution is preferred to avoid returning the injured motorcyclist to the taxiway.
- the step represented by the figure 2bis is followed by a deformation step of the articulated arm, energy consuming deformation of the shock.
- the combination of the metal reinforcements and the non-metallic sliding element makes it possible, while keeping a certain flexibility, to prevent the screen 1 from being deformed around the vertical supports thus rendering them protruding in the screen.
- the accident vehicle is thus protected from the vertical supports 100 while being accompanied and slowed down along the safety barrier.
- non-metallic sliding element must be understood as being made of a material made up of the group consisting of synthetic materials, composite materials, wood and combinations of these materials.
- the figure 3 represents a screen 2 according to the invention in exploded view before, that is to say from the point of view of an observer placed on the taxiway and looking towards the barrier carrying the screen 2.
- This consists of two horizontal segments 210, 220 each comprising a metal reinforcement 211-221 and a sliding element made of synthetic material 213-223 and preferably a plastic of the polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride type. (PVC), etc.
- the metal reinforcements comprise coupling zones having openings 215-225 at their ends for the passage of bolts 252 for attachment to an attachment plate 235.
- This plate 235 thus secures together two horizontal segments 210-220.
- the two opposite ends of the two successive longitudinal sliding elements 210-220 are covered by a plastics joint 250.
- This seal 250 has openings 251 to be placed opposite the openings 215-225 metal reinforcements for fixing the seal on the horizontal segments and horizontal segments on the fixing plate.
- the seal 250 covers the sliding element 223 associated with the metal reinforcement 221, the assembly being coupled to the fixing plate 235 by means of bolts 252.
- the sliding element of synthetic material is profiled to define, on the opposite side to the traffic lane, interlocking grooves with the metal reinforcement.
- This rear profile is clearly visible on the figure 4 which represents a section of the figure 3 along line IV-IV.
- the sliding element 223 is profiled to delimit two convex curved zones 255, convex towards the traffic lane, each having a rear edge 256 and a front edge 257. These convex zones 255 are joined by their front edge 257 to a web 258. substantially vertical in use position.
- the sliding element 223 On its opposite side to the traffic lane, the sliding element 223 has two coplanar vertical walls 259 facing each other and each joining the rear edge 256 of a convex portion 255.
- Two walls 260 each join the front edge 257 of the curved portions 255 and the vertical walls 259 delimiting between them and the vertical walls 259, a space 261 sufficient to receive the vertical reinforcement 221 and block it. These spaces 261 form interlocking grooves of the sliding element 223 with the metal reinforcement 221.
- the grooves 261 allow a good interaction of the sliding element 223 with the metal reinforcement 221 over the entire surface of the reinforcement 221.
- the screen 2 thus retains the protective qualities.
- the convex front portion of the sliding member 223 participates in the absorption of at least a portion of the shock.
- the figure 5 represents a screen 3 consisting of two horizontal segments 310-320.
- Each horizontal segment 310-320 comprises three sliding elements 311, 312, 313 and 321, 322, 323, nestable and associated with a metal reinforcement 314-324.
- the elements 311, 312 are each associated with the metal reinforcement 314 (respectively 324) via grooves 315 formed on the face of the sliding elements 311, 312 (respectively 321, 322) opposite to the traffic way.
- the two sliding elements 311, 312 are coupled to each other by a third central sliding element 313 (respectively 323).
- These three elements 311, 312, 313 (respectively 321, 322, 323) have in section complementary interlocking claw structures 316-317 for coupling.
- the sliding elements 311-312 are positioned on the metal reinforcement 314 and held in place by the grooves 315.
- the element 313 is associated with the elements 311, 312 by making one of the lateral ends of the element coincide. 313 with the opposite lateral end of the elements 311, 312 to engage the interlocking structures 316 of the element 313 with the interlocking structures of the elements 311, 312.
- the metal reinforcement assembly 314 and sliding elements 311 , 312, 313 is then associated with a fastening plate 335 itself to be secured to an attachment arm on a vertical support (not shown).
- the junction of two successive horizontal segments is covered with a joint 350.
- Such a structure allows, in case of shock, to change only the damaged sliding elements. For example, if a vehicle rubs the screen 3, only the outermost sliding element will be damaged, namely the element 313.
- Another advantage of such a structure is its curved shape towards the taxiway.
- the space between the sliding elements 311, 312, 313 and the metal reinforcement 314 allows the sliding elements to deform ( figure 6bis ) absorbing at least a portion of the shock.
- non-metallic deformable sliding elements with at least one metal reinforcement makes it possible to obtain a sufficiently strong screen to protect a two-wheeled accident vehicle and / or its user from vertical supports while absorbing at least part of the energy shock.
- the metal reinforcement used can be of such a structure that it alone would be too weak to play its role of protection because it would deform against the supports, while in combination with the non-metallic sliding elements themselves. deformable, the screen obtained protects vertical supports and participate in the absorption of shock.
- the non-metallic sliding element (s) absorb (s) part of the energy by its (their) property of deformation and stiffens (s) the reinforcement (s) metallic (s) in the coupling area.
- the metal reinforcement (s) by their plastic deformation (that is to say without return to the initial shape) prevents the expression of the own elasticity of the sliding element (s) non-metallic (s) and thus avoids pushing the person and / or motorcycle accident on the road.
- each horizontal segment comprises at least one metal reinforcement combined with at least one wooden sliding element.
- Screen 4 of the figure 7 consists of two horizontal segments 410, 420 comprising a metal reinforcement 411, 421 and a wooden sliding element consisting of a wooden panel 412, 422 of substantially the same length and height as the metal reinforcement 411, 421.
- L Screen 4 is attached to the vertical supports in the same manner as previously explained for the other screens.
- the wood panels 412, 422 and metal reinforcements each have a thickness such that they alone would be insufficient to protect the vehicles because they would deform.
- the seal 450 of the figure 8 consists of a plate that can be metal, wood or synthetic material. This seal 450 has openings 451 to be placed opposite openings 415-425 metal reinforcements for fixing the seal 450 on the horizontal segments 410, 420 and horizontal segments 410, 420 on the attachment plate 452.
- the seal 450 covers the sliding elements 412-422 associated with the metal reinforcements 411-420, the assembly being coupled to the fixing plate 452 by means of bolts 454.
- Joint 460 of the figure 9 consists of two parallel plates that can be made of metal, of wood or of synthetic material, connected by a perpendicular central partition whose length is substantially equal to the thickness of the horizontal segments 410, 420.

These have openings 461 to be placed opposite openings 415-425 of the horizontal segments 410, 420 for fixing the seal 450 on the horizontal segments 410, 420, and horizontal segments 410, 420 on the attachment plate 452 by means of bolts 454.
- each horizontal segment of a screen 5 comprises a vertical metal blade 511, 521 and two wooden sliding elements 512, 522 each constituted by a circular wooden cleat comprising a groove 525 in which is inserted an edge of the metal blade 511, 521.
- the screen 5 is fixed to the vertical supports in the same manner as previously exposed for the other screens.
- the wooden battens 512, 522 are fixed to the metal reinforcement by bolts (not shown).
- the metal reinforcement 511, 521 has a thickness such that it can deform to absorb at least part of a shock.
- the wooden battens 512, 522 stiffen the upper and lower edges of the metal reinforcement 511, 521 to prevent it from being deformed too much during the impact and does not protect the vehicle against the vertical supports.
- the screen 5 may deform at its center to absorb at least a portion of a shock, but does not deform at its upper and lower edges to prevent winding of the screen around the vertical supports.
- the set of safety barriers for lanes described above allow at least a portion of the energy of a shock to be absorbed by deforming the composite structure screen while maintaining its protective properties.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to safety barriers which are placed along vehicle taxiways and which comprise at least one rail parallel to the ground, vertical supports and a protective screen.
These barriers have the disadvantage of leaving a lower space under the rail, of sufficient height that a motorcyclist injured and slipping on the ground can be seriously injured, either because it gets stuck between the ground and the bottom of the smooth, either because it is projected against the vertical supports located behind the rail supports that are numerous, rigid and blunt that is to say extremely dangerous.
So that these barriers are not only protective for the passengers of cars, trucks and coaches, but also for the users of motorcycles with or without a sidecar, and in a general way for any person who, accidentally, is projected on the way In circulation, it is known to fill the lower space by means of a flat screen formed of plates fixed end to end.
But the solutions developed to date have not been entirely satisfactory, especially because of the rigidity of the proposed screens and fixing difficulties that entails this type of screen.
In addition, the presence of safety equipment in certain places such as riverbanks, forests or certain urban avenues, causes visual inconveniences contrary to the search for the maintenance of the aesthetics of the place by the public, the organisms or Public powers.
It is therefore important to obtain safety equipment, especially screens that can blend into the landscape while ensuring the safety of vehicles and especially their users.
brevet EP 1 184 515
- The
FR 2,556,755
This solution is to be excluded because the mounting means are essentially holes to receive bolts, and these holes degrade the mechanical characteristics of the spacer. - The
FR 2 751 998
These boxes are of a very high price because it is necessary to assemble the boxes on site, and the result is practically unusable because of the mechanical characteristics of this device which is far from damping shocks: the boxes made of synthetic material have elasticity clean and horizontal metal rods are supported on the vertical supports making this set is very rigid. As a result, an object thrown against this device bounces back toward the taxiway when the impact is not too great and collapses against the support rod assembly when the impact is violent. - The
EP Patent 1,184,515

In all the figures, the safety barriers presented do not include a slide but only a screen called "protection", and this, in order not to overload the figures. For the sake of clarity the structures are exploded to bring out the assembly.
In reality, a safety barrier according to the invention and intended to be arranged along vehicle taxiways, comprises, in the use position, at least one horizontal rail subject to vertical supports and a lower screen located between the rail and the ground. This screen is particularly intended to oppose the passage under the smooth of a user of two wheels accident, sliding flat on the taxiway. The lower protection screen is formed by the assembly longitudinal of horizontal segments located between the vertical supports and generally associated on said supports.
According to the invention, each horizontal segment is of composite structure and comprises at least one continuous longitudinal reinforcement combined with at least one sliding element sufficiently deformable to absorb at least a portion of a shock caused by a user accidentally and rigid enough to allow a continuous sliding of the user, that is to say without encountering a salient obstacle in the screen such as a vertical support.

The view is located at a
The

The assembly of the two

In this zone, the sliding elements have only their convex surface 117-127 so that they can overlap to ensure the continuity of the sliding elements all along the barrier.
Advantageously, the different sliding elements overlap in "fish scale", that is to say that, with reference to the direction of flow, the upstream element covers the downstream element.

When the shock is not too strong, the deformation of the plastic sliding
Depending on the plastic used and / or the violence of the shock, the deformation may be final.
This solution is preferred to avoid returning the injured motorcyclist to the taxiway.
The combination of the metal reinforcements and the non-metallic sliding element makes it possible, while keeping a certain flexibility, to prevent the screen 1 from being deformed around the vertical supports thus rendering them protruding in the screen. The accident vehicle is thus protected from the
When replacing rugged screen segments 1, one person can carry the elements on their own and position them while another person attaches them to the barrier.

This consists of two
The metal reinforcements comprise coupling zones having openings 215-225 at their ends for the passage of
It further comprises an
The two opposite ends of the two successive longitudinal sliding elements 210-220 are covered by a plastics joint 250.
The sliding
On its opposite side to the traffic lane, the sliding
It is thus possible to use a thin metal reinforcement, therefore lighter and cheaper since it is reinforced and stiffened by the rear part of the sliding
Here again the choice of the material and its thickness depends on the desire to obtain

These three
For this, the sliding elements 311-312 are positioned on the
Par exemple, si un véhicule frotte l'écran 3, seul l'élément de glissement le plus extérieur sera endommagé, à savoir l'élément 313.Such a structure allows, in case of shock, to change only the damaged sliding elements. For example, if a vehicle rubs the
For replacement, simply remove the seals on each side and slide the
The combination of non-metallic deformable sliding elements with at least one metal reinforcement makes it possible to obtain a sufficiently strong screen to protect a two-wheeled accident vehicle and / or its user from vertical supports while absorbing at least part of the energy shock.
The metal reinforcement used can be of such a structure that it alone would be too weak to play its role of protection because it would deform against the supports, while in combination with the non-metallic sliding elements themselves. deformable, the screen obtained protects vertical supports and participate in the absorption of shock.
In other words, the non-metallic sliding element (s) absorb (s) part of the energy by its (their) property of deformation and stiffens (s) the reinforcement (s) metallic (s) in the coupling area.
The metal reinforcement (s) by their plastic deformation (that is to say without return to the initial shape) prevents the expression of the own elasticity of the sliding element (s) non-metallic (s) and thus avoids pushing the person and / or motorcycle accident on the road.
This absorption is further improved when the screen is suspended at the safety barrier by deformable arms, absorbing themselves at least a portion of the energy of the shock.

The
But, combined in combination, they are rigid enough to protect vehicles from vertical supports and flexible enough to cushion part of the shock.

The
The
The
As a result, the
Thus, the set of safety barriers for lanes described above allow at least a portion of the energy of a shock to be absorbed by deforming the composite structure screen while maintaining its protective properties.
The invention is not limited to the previously described embodiments.
