Definitions
- the invention relates to a silencer for damping the intake or Intake noise into a compressed air system - and / or for damping the Drain noise from a compressed air system. He is supposed to be especially for Motor vehicles are suitable.
- the air compressors generate during the intake of air persistent noises are perceived as annoying. Even more uncomfortable are the sometimes explosive or hissing noises that when Air is released from a compressed air system, be it when loosening it an air pressure-operated brake, as is common in heavy trucks when lowering the ground clearance of an air-sprung vehicle partial deflation of air from one or more of the air springs.
- GB-A-20 43 787 proposes to equip a compressor with separate suction and discharge openings each with a silencer, which forms an expansion chamber and can thus absorb sound of a specific frequency in a specific chamber volume.
- Air compressors with particularly soundproofed housings are known from US Pat. No. 4,254,282 .
- EP 0 729 762 A1 teaches an inhalation device with a muffler integrated in the compressor which is intended to dampen the intake noise and which can contain ribs as flow obstacles which run perpendicular to the connecting line between the air inlet and the air outlet.
- the level reductions achieved with known silencers so far are not sufficient, at least for the buyers of air-sprung luxury cars. So far, however, silencers with sufficient level reduction have been too large and too heavy.
- the object of the invention is to provide a light and compact silencer with a strong sound-reducing effect.
- the invention solves the problem in that inside the silencer Baffle walls are arranged at an angle to the basic flow direction run and the flowing air a meandering Force flow path.
- the "basic flow direction” means the direction in which the progression of a gas particle asymptotically approximates with an infinite number of itself similarly repeating meanders. Analogously transferred to the Moselle river the basic flow direction would be directed northeast, even if the flow direction is opposite in individual loops.
- the inclined baffles are preferably parallel to each other.
- the Oblique position of the baffle is important because it is the number of one broadband sound energy loss-related reflections in comparison increased to a position perpendicular to the basic flow direction.
- a silencer designed according to the invention can be used as Cavity absorbers act. As such, it absorbs discrete frequencies, such as especially when taking in depending on the compressor speed and the number of pistons of the compressor occur.
- the resonance frequency of the cavity absorber is on the prevailing excitation frequencies of the compressor in the manner known to those skilled in the art to coordinate, in particular a dimensioning of the air volume, the length and the cross-section of the corresponding leads arrive.
- Muffler near its low pressure opening - that is to the Intake or discharge opening open to the atmosphere during suction or Drain - to further improve sound absorption air-permeable, i.e. open-pore, foam introduced.
- micro caverns and micro meanders and hysterical walls of the said foam ideally complement the sound-absorbing effect of Macro meander created in the muffler by the sloping baffles are. In particular, they swallow high frequencies.
- the baffles are preferably at an angle in the silencer of the order of 45 ° to 70 ° to the basic flow direction.
- This figure shows to scale a longitudinal section through a silencer 1 designed according to the invention.
- This has a damper housing 2 in the shape of an elongated cuboid. At its two end regions, the damper housing 2 is provided with a connection 4, 5 for the air flowing through the muffler 1, sucked in by the (not shown) compressor or discharged from the pressure system.
- connections 4, 5 are tubular extension parts, with the shown Version for connecting the silencer 1 to the compressed air system or connection 4 provided to the compressor in the middle of one of the End faces of the damper housing 2 is provided.
- the second connector 5, the external connection is on the side at the end of the damper housing 2 arranged.
- the connection 4 can be shown in dashed lines shown design also on the second face of the Damper housing 2 may be arranged.
- the baffles 6, which are inside the Damper housing 2 are arranged obliquely and parallel to each other, protrude alternating from the two opposite walls far into the interior the damper housing 2.
- the between the baffles 6 and the longitudinal axis of the damper housing 2 selected angle ⁇ is 65 ° in this embodiment.
- the one in the area of the atmosphere connection 5 between that of the high pressure side seen from last baffle 6 and the other wall parts of the damper housing 2 is formed in this embodiment - as preferred - filled with open-cell foam.
- silencers 1 designed according to the invention can significantly reduce both suction and discharge noise, so that only one silencer 1 is required for both purposes.
- the silencer 1 acts with its total interior volume and with the air volumes in the connections 4 and 5 as a vibrating system of mass and spring, one additional damping takes place through the sound-absorbing material 3.
- the Silencer 1 therefore contributes as a strongly damping cavity absorber Reduction of the intake noise at.
- the sound-absorbing element Before it exits the silencer 1, the sound-absorbing element also acts Material 3, so that the outside sound energy is significantly reduced in the end.
- Silencers 1 designed according to the invention can be very compact and be lightweight and are therefore suitable for installation in motor vehicles particularly suitable.
- the muffler 1 shown here, which is used for the intake and Exhaust noise reduction of an air-sprung luxury car is intended should have a length between 100 and 120 mm.
