  • the subject invention refers to a two-stroke crankcase scavenged internal combustion engine, in which a piston ported air passage is arranged between an air inlet and the upper part of a number of transfer ducts. Fresh air is added at the top of the transfer ducts and is intended to serve as a buffer against the air/fuel mixture below. Mainly this buffer is lost out into the exhaust outlet during the scavenging process. The fuel consumption and the exhaust emissions are thereby reduced. The engine is foremost intended for a handheld working tool.
  • Combustion engines of the above mentioned kind are known. They reduce the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, but it is difficult to control the air/fuel ratio in such an engine.

This is adapted so that a desirable amount of exhaust gases will be supplied into the connecting duct 6.
  • a highly located connecting port could also reduce the flow resistance of air at the changeover from connecting port to scavenging port 31.
  • the period of air supply from the connecting ports 8, 8' to the scavenging port 31, 31' is very important and is to a great extent determined by the flow paths in the piston, i.e. the recess 10, 10' in the piston.
  • the upper edge of the recess is located so high that it, when the piston is moving upwards from the bottom dead centre, reaches up to the lower edge of the respective port 31, 31' at the same time or earlier than the lower edge of the piston reaches up to the lower edge of the inlet port.

Consequently, preferably the recess 10, 10' in the piston that meets each port 31, 31' respectively, has an axial height locally at this port that is greater than 1,5 times the height of the respective scavenging port, but preferably greater than 2 times the height of the scavenging port. This provided that the port has a normal height so that the upper side of the piston, when located in its bottom dead centre, is level with the underside of the scavenging port, or is protruding only a few millimetres.
  • the recess is preferably downwards shaped in such a way that the connection between the recess 10, 10' and the connecting port 8, 8' is maximised, since it reduces the flow resistance.
  • the recess 10, 10' preferably reaches so far down that it does not cover the connecting port 8, 8' at all, as shown in figure 1.
  • the recess 10, 10' in the piston that meets each connecting port 8, 8' respectively has an axial height locally at this port that is greater than 1.5 times the height of the respective connecting port, but preferably greater than 2 times the height of the connecting port.
  • the relative location of the connecting port 8, 8' and the scavenging port 31, 31' can be varied considerably provided that the ports are shifted sideways, i.e. in the cylinder's tangential direction, as shown in figure
  • the connecting port is located as high or higher in the cylinder's axial direction as the lower edge of each scavenging port respectively.
  • the transition from port 8 to port 31 via the piston can occur in a slightly upward direction in relation to the cylinder's lateral direction. If the port 8 instead had been located right below port 31, then the transition had occurred in a straight upward direction.
  • each branch 11, 11' leading to each connecting port 8, 8' respectively is embodied so that it is directed in the cylinder's lateral direction, or slightly upwards from this.
  • each branch arrives obliquely from below from an outer connecting port 7, so that the branch first turns upwards after the outer connecting port and then continues upwards and turns into a lateral direction up to the connecting port 8, 8' in the cylinder wall 12.

Claims (10)

  1. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung vom Typ des Zweitakters (1), in welchem ein schlitzgesteuerter Luftkanal zwischen einem Lufteinlass (2) und dem oberen Teil einer Anzahl von Überströmkanälen (3,3') angeordnet ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Luftkanal ausgehend von einem Lufteinlass (2) angeordnet ist, welcher mit Regelventilen (4) ausgestattet ist, welche durch mindestens einen Motorparameter wie beispielsweise der Vergaserdrosselsteuerung gesteuert werden, wobei sich der Lufteinlass über mindestens einen Verbindungskanal (6, 6') zu mindestens einem Verbindungsschlitz (8, 8') in der Zylinderwandung (12) des Motors erstreckt, wobei dieser Verbindungsschlitz dergestalt angeordnet ist, dass er in Verbindung mit Kolbenstellungen am oberen Totpunkt mit im Kolben (13) angelegten Strömungswegen (10, 10') verbunden wird, welche sich zum oberen Teil einer Anzahl von Überströmkanälen (3, 3') erstrecken, und wobei jeder Strömungsweg im Zylinder und Kolben größtenteils in der Seitenrichtung des Zylinders dergestalt angeordnet ist, dass einerseits der Verbindungsschlitz (8, 8') und der angrenzende Spülschlitz (31, 31') des Zylinders seitwärts zueinander verschoben sind längs des Umfanges der Zylinderwandung (12), und andererseits die Überströmkanäle (3, 3') des Zylinders im Wesentlichen in seitlicher Richtung des Zylinders weg vom jeweiligen Spülschlitz (31, 31') verlaufen, d. h. tangential in Bezug auf den Umfang der Zylinderwandung (12).
  2. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass jeder Zweig (11, 11'), welcher zu jedem Verbindungsschlitz (8, 8') führt, in seitlicher Richtung des Zylinders gerichtet ist oder von diesem leicht nach oben..
  3. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 - 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Strömungswege dergestalt angeordnet sind, dass die Vertiefung (10, 10') im Kolben, welche auf den jeweiligen Spülschlitz (31, 31') trifft, dergestalt angeordnet ist, dass der Luftzuführung eine in Bezug auf den Einlass im Wesentlichen gleich lange oder längere Zeitdauer eingeräumt wird, welche als Kurbelwinkel oder -zeit gezählt wird.
  4. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Zeitdauer der Luftzuführung größer als 90 % der Einlasszeit ist, aber weniger als 110 % der Einlasszeit beträgt.
  5. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefung (10, 10') im Kolben, welche auf den jeweiligen Spülschlitz (31, 31') trifft, genau an diesem Schlitz eine axiale Höhe aufweist, welche größer als das 1,5-fache der Höhe des jeweiligen Spülschlitzes (31,31') ist, vorzugsweise größer als das 2-fache der Höhe des Spülschlitzes.
  6. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der obere Rand des jeweiligen Verbindungsschlitzes (8, 8') in der axialen Richtung des Zylinders so hoch wie oder höher als der untere Rand des jeweiligen Spülschlitzes (31, 31') angeordnet ist.
  7. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Lufteinlass (2) zwei Verbindungsschlitze (8,8') in der Zylinderwandung (12) des Motors aufweist.
  8. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der/die Verbindungsschlitz/e (8, 8') in der Zylinderwandung (12) des Motors dergestalt angebracht ist/sind, dass der Kolben (13) sie überdeckt, wenn er sich am seinem unteren Totpunkt befindet.
  9. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der Ansprüche 1 - 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der/die Verbindungsschlitz/e (8, 8') in der Zylinderwandung (12) des Motors dergestalt angebracht ist/sind, dass sie der Kolben (13) nicht überdeckt, wenn er sich an seinem unteren Totpunkt befindet, aber Abgase des Zylinders in den Lufteinlass eindringen können.
  10. Mit Kurbelgehäusespülung arbeitender Motor mit innerer Verbrennung (1) gemäß irgend einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Strömungswege (10, 10') im Kolben mindestens teilweise in der Form von mindestens einer Vertiefung (10, 10') im Umfang des Kolbens angeordnet sind.
