Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for determining inexpensive telephone connections.
- the liberalization of the telephone market means that a large number of network operators and service providers are available to establish telephone connections. Naturally, the network operators offer their services at different prices. The prices can vary greatly from network operator to network operator and depending on the time at which the telephone connection is to be established. Another criterion which determines the price of a telephone connection is, for example, the distance over which the telephone connection is to be established, i.e. H. the dialed phone number, especially the area code.
- the least-cost routers analyze the telephone numbers outgoing from the telephone, which e.g. B. may be present as a DTMF signal (dual tone multifrequency).
- the least expensive network operator is determined using a table contained in the least-cost router and a real-time clock, and the desired telephone connection is established via this network operator. For this purpose, the least-cost router adds a number identifying the network operator to the telephone number received by the telephone before the telephone number received by the telephone.
- the total number generated in this way is converted into DTMF signals by a dialing device within the least-cost router and fed into the public telephone network in order to establish the desired telephone connection at the cheapest price.
- the known devices for determining the cheapest telephone connections have several disadvantages. For example, their implementation is very complex since components already contained in the telephone, such as a dialing device or real-time clock, have to be provided again in the least-cost router.
- Another disadvantage is the fact that the known devices are relatively large and cumbersome to handle, since they have to be connected between the telephone and the public telephone network. This makes flexible use at different locations difficult.
- the invention has for its object to provide a device for determining inexpensive telephone connections, which can be implemented inexpensively and is superior to known devices in terms of flexible use. Furthermore, a method is to be specified which enables usage-dependent influences to be taken into account when determining cost-effective telephone connections.
- the device for determining inexpensive telephone connections has the advantage that the device device can be used flexibly and locally.
- the method according to the invention for the determination of inexpensive telephone connections has the advantage that, in addition to the charge information from the network operator, usage-dependent information is evaluated, thereby preventing disabilities or disruptions during telephone calls.
- Fig. 1 is a chip card
- Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a telephone containing the device according to the invention.
- Fig. 1 shows a chip card 1, with contacts 2. Embedded in the chip card 1 are electronic circuits, not shown, z. B. volatile and non-volatile memory and a processor unit connected to the memories and the contacts 2.
- the structure and dimensions of the chip card can be implemented in accordance with known norms and standards. In addition to the contact-type chip card shown, the use of contactless chip cards is also possible.
- fee information from various network operators is stored in a first area.
- the fee information contains e.g. B.
- Information about the fees charged by the network operator depending on the Time of day of the call, depending on the weekday of the call, depending on the distance of the call. The distance is usually determined by an area code contained in the dialed telephone number.
- information about the charging cycle used by the network operator can be stored, ie the smallest unit of time used in determining the cost.
- a network operator number is stored in the memory for each of the network operators, which must be dialed before the respective telephone number in order to be able to use the power of the network operator specified by the network operator number.
- usage-dependent information is stored which is derived from a user's personal profile. This includes, for example, information about the time of calls, i.e. time and day of the week, information about the duration of the calls made, information about the availability of a free telephone line from the respective network operator at the time of a call, information about benefits such as discounts granted by certain network operators.
- information about the processor unit contained in the chip card 1 during each call and stored in the second area of the memory of the chip card 1.
- the processor unit can have an internal or external real-time clock, or this can be formed by the processor unit itself using software.
- the usage-dependent information contained in the second area of the memory is taken into account in addition to the charge information from the first area of the memory for the determination of inexpensive telephone connections by the processor unit.
- An improvement can be achieved by taking into account the time of the call, i.e. the time and day of the week, the average duration of the calls at certain times and taking into account the charging cycles used by the network operators. For example, if the user only makes very short calls during the day (e.g. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). B. 30 seconds, a telephone connection via a first network operator, which is a short fee, z. B. a second, used to be cheaper than a telephone connection through a second network operator, which charges a longer fee, z. B.
- the usage fee for one minute is lower for the second network operator. It takes a minute e.g. B. for the first network operator three monetary units, but for the second network operator only two monetary units, the first network operator is usually cheaper at this point in time, because with the average duration of a call of 30 seconds the first network operator only charges one and a half monetary units, while the second Network operator charged two monetary units.
- Fig. 2 shows the use of the chip card 1 described above in a telephone 20.
- the telephone 20 has a control unit 22, for. B. a microprocessor, a keyboard 23, a display 26 and telephony circuits 24, z. B. a dial tone generator and a hybrid, and a smart card reader 21.
- the telephone 20 Via the telephony circuits 24, the telephone 20 is connected to a public network, e.g. B. a fixed network or a radio network, for example according to the GSM standard.
- Telephone numbers are entered via the keyboard 23, processed by the control unit 22 and can be shown on the display 26.
- the telephone number entered by means of the keyboard 23 is forwarded by the control unit 22 to the chip card reader 21 and made available to the processor unit of the chip card 1.
- chip card 1 inexpensive telephone connections are determined in the manner described above by evaluating the telephone number, in particular the area codes contained in the telephone number.
- the processor of the chip card 1 adds the network operator number determined by it and transfers the total number via the chip card reader 21 to the control unit 22 of the telephone 20.
- the control unit 22 forwards the total number to the telephone number. fo iescircuits 24, which establish the desired telephone connection with the public network 25.
- the determined network operator number which was added to the telephone number entered via the keyboard 23, handles the telephone connection via the network operator determined by the chip card 1.
- information originating from the public network 25, such as e.g. B. busy signal via the telephony circuits 24, the control unit 22 and the chip card reader 21 for evaluation to the chip card 1.
- a particularly suitable chip card for the invention described above is a chip card equipped with a JAVA system.
- Such chip cards enable flexible use of the chip card for a wide variety of telephones because of the standardization of the JAVA system.
- such chip cards also allow several different applications to be carried out on the chip card.
- the chip card can also be used, for example, as a so-called loyalty card. Loyalty cards are used to bind customers to certain providers of goods or services by granting benefits when certain quantities are purchased.
- the chip card 1 it is possible for the chip card 1 to be used simultaneously as a loyalty card from a specific network operator. This information about benefits can be used in the manner described above to determine inexpensive telephone connections.
- the memory of the chip card 1 has a third area in which telephone numbers entered by the user are stored. These telephone numbers can be organized in the manner of a telephone book, i.e. H. with assigned name and / or address.
- the charge information stored in the first area of the memory of the chip card 1 can be renewed.
- this new fee information is transmitted and z. B. received by a modem to replace the old fee information.
- the memory of the chip card can be designed as an EEPROM memory, which can be written to again. This is also necessary for the continuous processing of the user-dependent information in the second area of the chip card memory.
