Description

The invention is based on an antenna for automobiles with in the preamble of claim 1 specified features. Such an antenna is on the market. It has a foot section with an obliquely upward rod-shaped Radiators for radio reception. At the bottom of the foot section are medium provided for fastening the foot part on the roof of the body of an automobile. For this purpose, the body panel has a hole in which a short extension provided on the underside of the foot part is inserted. To the Fastening the foot part on the body panel grips a tensioning device from below on the extension, which cooperates with the underside of the foot part the body panel between the underside of the foot section and the tensioning device clamps. The foot section has a housing with a base plate. The Housing has a lower edge, which protrudes downwards over the base plate and has a contour which is adapted to the contour of the body panel. To prevent water from entering the area between the foot section and the body panel, is an elastomeric seal along the bottom of the housing provided, which in a relaxed state down over the lower Edge of the housing protrudes. By clamping the foot section on the body panel the seal is compressed.

Problems arise with the known antenna when the extension is eccentric is arranged with respect to the lower edge of the housing, so that the lower edge of the housing with respect to this longitudinal axis a closest Vertex and a distant vertex opposite it. Such an eccentric position of the extension can then occur in particular come when assemblies or components such as crossovers, Amplifier or an antenna for location purposes (GPS antenna), for example a patch antenna are provided and / or a rod-shaped radiator eccentrically or is very inclined on the foot section. With eccentric Fastening the foot section to the body panel can lead to the fact that the seal in the area of the nearest vertex is compressed more than in the area of the distant apex of the housing edge with the result that the sealing effect along the edge is uneven and that between the body panel and the bottom of the case an unevenly wider Gap arises, which affects the good appearance. This problem is exacerbated themselves and with increasing eccentricity and with increasing curvature of the body panel in the mounting area of the antenna.

The present invention has for its object to show a way how can be ensured with such an antenna with an eccentrically located attachment point in the simplest and cheapest possible manner that the inner seal is evenly compressed in the assembled state and between the lower edge of the housing of the foot part and there is no gap in the body panel or at most a uniformly wide gap.

This object is achieved by an antenna with the specified in claim 1 Features. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of Dependent claims.

The invention has significant advantages:
  • The buffer increases the elastomeric counterforce generated in the area between the extension and the nearest apex of the lower edge of the housing when the foot part is clamped on the body panel to such an extent that no more tilting moments occur about an axis lying on the top of the body, which is perpendicular to it the axis connecting the two vertices goes through the longitudinal axis of the extension, so that an uneven gap between the body panel and the lower edge of the housing is avoided.
  • The buffer is a very simple but effective way to achieve this.
  • No special space has to be created for the buffer, since there is already enough space in the space enclosed by the seal.
  • The buffer can, but does not have to be made of the same material as the seal. The buffer preferably consists of a harder elastomeric material, in particular of a foam, which is most simply glued in the form of a circular disk to the underside of the base plate of the housing. By selecting a harder elastomer, such a buffer can also be accommodated in the area between the extension and the nearest apex, even with great eccentricity.

Such a buffer is particularly suitable for an antenna in which the seal on the underside of the base part of the antenna a constant length Cross section.

A second solution to the problem is the subject of claim 5. In in this case a seal is provided instead of a separate buffer, in which the cross-section is not the same over its length, but in which the cross section of the seal in the area between the extension and the nearest Apex of the lower edge of the housing is so much larger than between the extension and the distant apex that already the Counterforce caused by the compression of the seal in its section between the longitudinal axis of the extension and the nearest vertex that counterbalance which is balanced by the upsetting of the Seal in its section between the longitudinal axis of the extension and the distant apex is generated, so that an uneven gap between the body panel and the lower edge of the housing is avoided. at rectangular cross-section of the seal boils down to the fact that the bearing surface the seal in the area between the longitudinal axis of the extension and the closest vertex is approximately the same size as the contact surface of the Seal in the area between the longitudinal axis of the extension and the distal Vertices. However, the solution according to claim 1 is particularly preferred, because it is more suitable for larger eccentricities and easier to implement is.

Der Antennenstab 24 verläuft mit starker Neigung gegen die Grundplatte 2 des Fußteils 1The antenna shown in Figures 1 and 2 has a foot part 1, which a Has base plate 2 made of metal and a hood 3 made of plastic, in which the Base plate 2 is inserted so that the lower edge 6 of the hood 3 all around little protrudes downward over the base plate 2. The contour of the edge 6 is adapted to the contour of the body panel 4 on which the antenna is attached shall be. The hood 3 has an extension 22 with a threaded bush into which an antenna rod 24 is screwed, which one at its lower end has threaded bolts matching the threaded bushing. The antenna rod 24 runs with a strong inclination against the base plate 2 of the foot part 1

Within the given by the lower edge 6 of the hood 3 is at the Underside of the base plate 2, a first elastomeric seal 5 is provided, which is supported on the underside of the base plate, rests on the edge of the hood 3, protrudes over the edge of the hood 3 in a relaxed state and has a contour has which the contour of the body panel 4 is adapted, on which the Seal 5 comes to rest.

The lower edge 6 of the hood 3 and also the seal 5 are oval in plan (see Figure 2). To attach the foot part 1 to the body panel 4, the metallic base plate 2 an extension 7 in the form of a sleeve, which itself from the flat base plate 2 to beyond the lower edge 6 of the hood extends vertically downwards. This extension 7 is through a bore 8 in Body sheet 4 inserted and fastened by means of a clamping device 9. The Clamping device 9 consists of an outer sleeve 10, which over the sleeve-shaped Extension 7 is pushed and a ground contact ring at its upper end 11 carries, which tapered, against the underside of the body panel Has 4 directed projections 12. The outer sleeve 10 is by means of a Screw 13, which is turned into an internal thread of the extension 7, or by a nut, which is turned on an external thread of the extension 7, pressed against the underside of the body panel 4, the projections 12 act with high pressure on the underside of the body panel 4 and there establish a reliable electrical ground contact.

By tightening the screw 13 or by tightening the alternative The nut 5 is pressed together. Because of the highly eccentric The position of the extension 7 is due to the compression of the seal 5 induced counterforce 25 in the area between the longitudinal axis 14 of the extension 7 and the nearest vertex 15 of the lower edge 6 of the hood seen overall, much less than that in the area between the longitudinal axis 14 and the distant apex 16 of the lower edge 6 occurring Counterforce 26 (see Figure 1). This causes a tilting moment 17 about a tilting axis 18 generated, which perpendicular to the connecting the two vertices 15, 16 Axis on the top of the body panel 4 through the longitudinal axis 14 of the extension 7 goes. According to the invention, however, tilting is caused by a Counteracted buffer 19, which in the area between the extension 7 and the nearest vertex 15 and is made of an elastomeric material, which is harder than the elastomeric material of the seal 5. The buffer 19 is developed another counterforce 27, which together with the counterforce 25 Counterforce 26 compensated and thus ensured that the gap between the lower edge 6 of the hood and the body panel 4 is uniformly thin or even practically disappears completely.

Instead of providing a buffer 19, the seal 5 can be in the area between the extension 7 and the nearest vertex 15 are greatly widened, as shown in Figure 3. Otherwise the example according to FIG. 3 is correct with the Example according to Figures 1 and 2 match.

In both examples there is between the extension 7 and the distant apex 16 still a dome 20 is provided, which starts from the base plate 2 and protrudes downward beyond the lower edge 6. He serves in one to him to engage a suitable second hole in the body panel 4 and ensure that the antenna on the body panel 4 is fixed non-rotatably. The mandrel 20 and the extension 7 are together from a second elastomer Surround seal 21, which preferably consists of the same material like the first seal 5.

Figure 4 shows a practical example of a foot part 1 of an antenna of the type shown in Figures 1 and 2 in a plastic oblique view. In addition to FIGS. 1 and 2, FIG. 4 is the one that slopes upwards Extension 22 can be clearly seen, which has a threaded bush 23, in which the antenna rod 24, not shown in Figure 4 can be screwed. Around the foot part 1 of the antenna on the body panel omitted in FIG. 4 to attach, an outer sleeve 10 (Figure 1) is pushed onto the extension 7 and with a screw to be tightened firmly against the underside of the body panel clamped, as described with reference to Figure 1.

    there is provided between the extension (7) and the nearest vertex (15) of the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3), within the area at the underside of the base (2) enclosed by the seal (5), a buffer (19) which projects in downward direction beyond the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) and whose material, dimensions and arrangement are so selected to ensure that when the base (1) is clamped on the part (4) of the vehicle body the counterforce produced by its compression together with the counterforce produced by the compression of the seal (5) in its section (5a) between the longitudinal axis (14) of the projection (7) and the nearest vertex (14), balances out the counterforce produced by the compression of the seal (5) in its section (5b) between the longitudinal axis (14) of the extension (7) and the remote vertex (16), so that any non-uniformity of the gap between the body part (4) and the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) is excluded.
  2. The antenna as defined in Claim 1, characterised in that the seal (5) has a uniform cross-section over its full length.
  3. The antenna as defined in Claim 1 or Claim 2, characterised in that the buffer (19) consists of an elastomeric material whose modulus of elasticity is higher than the modulus of elasticity of the seal (5).
  4. The antenna as defined in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the buffer (19) is bonded to the underside of the base (2).
  5. Antenna for automobiles having the following features:
    a base (1);
    at least one aerial (9) mounted on said base (1) or in said base (1);
    the base (1) has a casing (2, 3) with a base plate (2);
    the casing (3) has a lower edge (6) that projects in downward direction beyond the base plate (2);
    an elastomeric seal (5) is provided along the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3), which seal, in its released state, projects in downward direction beyond the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3);
    means for mounting the base (1) on an part (4) of the vehicle body, especially on its roof;
    the means for mounting the base (1) are provided with an extension (7) which projects from the underside of the base (1) in downward direction and which is intended for being inserted from above in a hole (8) in said part (4) of the vehicle body, and with clamping means (10, 11, 12) engaging the extension (7) which coact with the bottom of the base (1) to clamp said part (4) of the vehicle body between the underside of the base (1) and the clamping means (10, 11, 12);
    the extension (7) has'a longitudinal axis (14) arranged eccentrically relative to the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) so that the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) has a vertex (15) which is nearest to the longitudinal axis (14) and has an oppositely positioned vertex (16) which is remote from the longitudinal axis (14);
    the cross-section of the seal (5) between the extension (7) and the nearest vertex (15) of the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) is greater than the cross-section between the extension (7) and the remote vertex (16) by an amount which ensures that when clamping the base (1) to the part (4) of the vehicle body the counterforce produced by the compression of the seal (5) in its section (5a) between the longitudinal axis (14) of the projection (7) and the nearest vertex (15), balances out the counterforce produced by the compression of the seal (5) in its section (5b) between the longitudinal axis (14) of the extension (7) and the remote vertex (16), so that any non-uniformity of the gap between the body part (4) and the lower edge (6) of the casing (2, 3) is excluded.
  6. The antenna as defined in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the base (1) is clamped on the vehicle body part (4) by screwing it down from below said part (4).
