Definitions
- the present invention relates to paint rollers with telescopic handle.
- the protrusion then bears sufficiently against the inner faces of the outer member, to make any subsequent sliding impossible.
- the outer sleeve has in this arrangement, a large radial protrusion whose role is to hold the finger firmly, while allowing a slight radial stroke of the latter. Such an excrescence clutters the handle and makes it difficult to handle.
- the main object of the invention is to solve these disadvantages, that is to say to propose a roll with telescopic handle which is at once easily adjustable and which does not present an annoying protrusion for the grip.
- Such a roller is a paint roller with telescopic handle, according to claim 1.
- the present roll comprises a metal mount 200 which, in a conventional manner, forms at a first end an axis of rotation for a textile sleeve, and penetrates at a second end into a handle 100.
- This second end cooperates here with the handle 100 by telescopic means that will be described now.
- the handle 100 constitutes an enclosure around a main channel 110 which runs through the handle 100 over most of its length.
- This channel 110 has on one side a longitudinal slot 105 which discovers it towards the user.
- this channel 110 extends frame side 200 by a passage 120 of much smaller diameter, which will be named hereinafter "throttling”.
- the end of the mount 200 which arrives in the handle 100 carries meanwhile, a piece 210 which is attached to the mount 200 once it engaged in the handle 100.
- the transverse dimensions of this piece 210 are equal to those of the internal space of the channel 110. This end piece thus forms a slide without play, inside the channel 110.
- the slider 210 and the running part of the mount 200 having dimensions complementary to the parts of the handle that receive it, namely the main channel 110 and the constriction 120, the mount 200 is held transversely, both at its rear end and where it opens out of the handle 100.
- the interior of the handle 100 is shown on the Figures 5 and 6 .
- the channel 110 has a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape, the narrowest sides of which are arcuate convex outwardly.
- this channel 110 has a transverse internal contour which corresponds to a disc which would have truncated two diametrically opposite parts along two lines parallel to each other and equal distance to the center.
- the slider 210 has a cross section of similar dimensions, thus having two opposite rectilinear faces corresponding to the internal rectilinear faces of the channel 110.
- the slide 210 once placed in the channel 110, can not rotate in the handle 100.
- the constriction 120 forms four pins 125 on its inner wall, angularly distributed uniformly, and pointing inward for a short distance.
- the metal mount 200 has a diameter equal to that of a circle passing through the apex of each of these pins 125.
- the metal mount 200 is, in the constriction 120, only in contact against the ends of the pins 125. Pions 125 maintain without play the frame 200, without impairing the sliding thereof because they present with it a reduced friction surface.
- the main channel 110 also has such projecting elements intended to come into contact with the slider 210 without presenting it with large friction surfaces.
- the slider 210 is used as translation locking member. It carries, on its side facing the light 105, an elastic tongue 220 which extends in spacing from the body of the slide from the end of the slider which is closest to the mount.
- This tongue 220 is intended to penetrate the light 105, and cooperate with retaining recesses formed in the edges of the light.
- this tongue 220 has four walls 225, 227 projecting outward, perpendicular to the axis of the slider 210.
- the two walls 225 located at the free end of the branch 220 have a width greater than that of the current portion of the light 105 and abut against the edges of the light 105 in its current part.
- These two walls 225 also taper towards the outside of the slider 210, so that when they are pushed by the user towards the inside of the channel, their portion possibly in the light 105 is of reduced width, spaced from the longitudinal edges of the light 105.
- These two walls 225 extend from an upper face of the tongue 220 and are, at their base, the same width as the tongue 220.
- the retaining arrangements 135 of the slide 210, formed on the edges of the light 105, are constituted by recesses 136, 137 of the same thickness as the walls 225, and of a depth such that the distance between the bottoms of two such recesses opposite sides of the light is equal to the width of the walls 225 at their base.
- a restraint arrangement 135 of the light 105 is in each case constituted by two pairs of such recesses 136 and 137, a pair on each side of the light 105, to simultaneously receive the two walls 225.
- a pair of recesses 136 and 137 are each separated by a short pin 138, pointing inwardly of the light 105. This pin 138 as well as the edges of the light 105 which are directly adjacent to the recesses 136 and 137 come then resting on the upper face of the tongue 220.
- each wall 225 is however slightly tapered in width in the direction of the light 105, for a non-latching penetration into the recesses 136, 137 at the return of the tongue 220.
- the upper edge of each wall 225 presents thus two lateral slopes at 45 °.
- the walls 225 and 227 thus extend through the light 105 and have their upper edges in the alignment of the upper surface of the handle 100.
- the slider 210 is therefore in the volume of the handle 100 and does not interfere with the handling of the handle 100.
- This slider 210 is particularly convenient for adjusting the mounting length since the handle, by simple action of the thumb (it will be noted that during such an operation, the four walls 225, 227 form an anti-slip arrangement for the thumb of the user).
- the slider 210 has, in the lower part, two walls 232 and 234 parallel to each other, integrally molded with the main body of the slider, and placed at both ends of the slider, that is to say at the rim end and at the furthest end of the rim. These walls 232 and 234 both cross the two rails 115 and 116 forming with them four points of support in total. The user is thus opposed only very low friction forces during the sliding of the slider 210.
- the user To drive the frame 200 in sliding in the handle 100, the user first disengages the walls 225 of the retaining arrangements 135 from the edges of the light 105, by applying on the tongue 220 a pressure towards the inside of the channel 110. This pressure releases the walls 225, allowing the user to drive the slide by an oblique push of the thumb.
- Such a reduction of the contact surfaces is therefore particularly advantageous on the side of the slider which is opposite to that receiving the push of the thumb.
- This reduction of the contact surfaces also makes it possible to prevent blocking of the sliding due for example to a sticking effect by dried paint drops between the slider and the handle.
- the slider 210 For attachment to the mount 200, the slider 210 has a single longitudinal channel 230, of internal dimension slightly smaller than the diameter of the frame 200, for a forcing assembly thereon.
- the immobilization in rotation of the slider 210 is obtained by four lugs punched on the frame 200, in the region of the frame 200 intended to penetrate the slider 210, as shown in FIGS. Figures 13 and 14 . These ears are intended to come into force in the slider 210.
- This internal channel 230 opens slightly towards the mount 200 for easy introduction thereof to the assembly.
- the punched ears are here arranged diametrically opposite on the mount 200.
- the excrescences 125 previously described, are distributed to allow the passage of these ears together to the assembly of the roller.
- the present handle 100 has at its rear end an opening sufficiently wide to allow the introduction of the slider 210 in the handle 100, this opening having a funnel-shaped inner wall to facilitate this introduction.
- the handle In the vicinity of this end of the handle, the handle also has, in a position diametrically opposed to the light 105, a hole 145 for hanging wall.
- the handle 100 here has an outer contour in the form of a truncated circle in two diametrically opposite parallel flats, both parallel to the general plane of the roller.
- One of these flats includes the longitudinal lumen 105.
- the two flats of the handle 100 extend at their end adjacent to the mount 200, in two oblique parts, which deviate from the main plane of the roller, framing the portion of the frame 200 which opens out of the handle 100, thus forming hooks that suspend the roll on the edge of a container containing paint.
