Description

The invention relates to an application assembly containing a reservoir of product of liquid to pasty or powdery consistency, in particular cosmetic or dermatological, to be applied to a surface such as the skin and its integuments. This assembly further comprises an applicator of the type comprising a plurality of bristles, for the application of the product.

In the assembly targeted by the present invention, the reservoir containing the product is provided with an open end on which is fixed, removably, a plug serving as a gripping element. The plug is secured to an applicator member, generally via a rod, so that the applicator member, in the closed position of the assembly, can impregnate said product.

The reservoir is intended, in particular, to contain a makeup product or a dermatological product, and more particularly a mascara, a liquid lipstick, an eyeliner, a "blush" type powder, an eye shadow or a varnish nail polish, or a hair or dermatological treatment product. A dose of this product is taken using such an applicator, and applied to the surface to be treated.

Many applicators of this type have been proposed in the past, for the purpose of applying mascara to the eyelashes, nail polish, makeup powder on the cheeks or eyelids, or dyeing on the hair . In order to increase the retention rate of the product on the applicator, it has been proposed to practice one or more longitudinal capillary grooves on the surface of the bristles implanted on the applicator.

So, we know from the documents FR-A-2,607,372 and FR-A-20627 068 , in the name of the applicant, a mascara brush, consisting of bristles having on the surface, at least one capillary groove extending rectilinearly over any the length of the hairs. The capillary grooves are mascara reserves, allowing the application, a quick and effective transfer of mascara on the eyelashes, for a homogeneous makeup.

In addition, by the document FR-A-2,687,055 , also in the name of the applicant, there is known a nail polish applicator having a tuft of substantially parallel hairs. This tuft is composed of two types of bristles of different diameter, which bristles may have at least one longitudinal capillary groove.

Generally, the bristles used for producing the applicators mentioned above have a smooth surface, and this especially because of their manufacture by extrusion of a thermoplastic material through a die.

Overall these applicators of the prior art give satisfactory results. However, especially when they are loaded with a specific product, it has been found desirable to have an applicator that makes it possible to obtain a make-up that is both very loaded and very homogeneous, and this for products of very variable nature (hydrophilic-lipophilic). ) and. whose autonomy is greater than that of known applicators. Indeed, the mascara applicators mentioned above may have the disadvantage of losing a good part of their product load, especially when the applicator member is subjected to a spinning operation, prior to the application of the product. In the case of a mascara brush, this effect is even more sensitive that the free ends of the bristles are scraped by a squeezing lip, while the center of the brush has a mass of product liable to dry between two uses.

In the case of the nail polish brush mentioned above, a satisfactory load is obtained. However, the Applicant has found that for some nail polish compositions, there is a poor affinity with the material forming the bristles of the brush. In other words, if a pile of a given material gives good results, for example when the varnish is of the water-based type, it may have a low retention capacity, when the varnish is of the organic solvent type. It is therefore necessary to look for hairs made of another material, having good affinity with this type of organic solvent varnish. Indeed, when this affinity is not appropriate, we obtain a flow of varnish too fast and too much application and improper application on the nail.

These fibers can be used, in particular, for the manufacture of toothbrushes or other devices with abrasive action. This document also mentions the use of fibers for paint brushes, in order to increase the retention of the paint.

The invention aims to provide a set of application of a product, an applicator associated with this set having, especially after spinning, a large supply of product. In addition, the invention provides a homogeneous distribution and a controlled release of the product during application, whatever the nature of the composition, intended to be brought into contact with the support to be treated. Such an applicator can be adapted, in particular, to the makeup of eyelashes or eyebrows, lips, skin or nails, or to a hair or dermatological treatment.

The object of the invention is to provide universal means for an application assembly making it possible to control the rate of loading and the speed of flow of the product during application, whatever the nature of the product. The invention achieves this by modifying the state of the surface of the bristles constituting the applicator. This improves the retention of the product, and creates an appropriate affinity between the product and the hair.

Also, the subject of the present invention is an application assembly comprising a reservoir containing a cosmetic product and an applicator, said applicator comprising a gripping element forming a means for opening / closing the reservoir, and integral with an organ of application which, in the closed position of the assembly, is arranged inside the tank, said application member comprising an arrangement of bristles, at least a portion of which contains asperity-forming particles projecting randomly over all or part of the surface of said bristles.

In such an application assembly, to be able to ensure a correct dosage of the product and its homogeneous distribution on the applicator member, there can be provided a wiper member, which is advantageously located in the vicinity of an open end of the reservoir . Preferably, such a wiper member is made of an elastomeric material, optionally made of foam, and has at least one passage capable of being traversed, at least partially, by the applicator member and, where appropriate, by a portion of a rod connecting the applicator member to the gripping member. Said passage of the wiper member may comprise at least one wiper lip, open or contiguous. When the applicator member is carried by a flat shaft, this passage may be in the form of at least one slot.

The function of a wiper member, in the field of application sets for cosmetic products, is, on the one hand, to remove the excess of product taken by the applicator, and on the other hand, obtain a distribution of the product, regularly, on the bristles of the applicator member, and this in particular in sufficient quantity to ensure a long autonomy of the applicator. If necessary, the wiper member can also ensure the spinning of all or part of the rod of the applicator.

In the case of a mascara brush, in particular of the twisted core type having bristles oriented transversely to the axis of the core, a wiper member may produce adverse effects. Indeed, it is frequently observed that a conventional mascara brush, as it passes through the wiper member, does not have enough product, especially on the free portions of the bristles intended to come into contact with the eyelashes. However, often a large amount of product is moved on the hair, after spinning, to the core of the applicator, where the transfer of the product on the eyelashes is unsatisfactory.

The assembly according to the invention, comprising an applicator whose application member comprises hair with asperities as defined above, makes it possible to minimize these harmful effects occurring during the passage of the applicator member through the wiper member.

Generally, the bristles of the applicator member are formed from a matrix in which said particles are incorporated, said matrix being made, advantageously of a thermoplastic material, chosen from polyamides, polyesters, polyethylenes and polypropylene. polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate; poly tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) or thermoplastic or vulcanized elastomeric materials.

By such an arrangement, there is obtained a bristle surface having a roughness, in particular perceptible to the touch. Thus, for example, when a mascara brush is equipped with bristles as defined above, it has a distribution of the product on the surface of the bristles, and this after spinning, homogeneous and thick. In addition, such a brush has a particular bonding power with respect to the eyelashes, to better curl and "lengthen" said eyelashes, compared to known mascara brushes.

Similarly, a brush for the application of a nail polish, has an affinity to the product to apply quite remarkable. Indeed, the varnish deposited on a bristle brush with a smooth surface, tends to form "pearls", flowing on the surface of the bristles more or less rapidly under the effect of gravity. A brush according to the invention and having bristles at the surface, forms a thicker layer, compared to conventional brushes. In this way, the varnish is better hooked and flows significantly less quickly. In addition, the charging power of the brush according to the invention is substantially greater than the charging power of a conventional brush with a smooth surface. Depending on the importance of the asperities (height) and their surface density, the flow of the varnish when applied to the nail is easily controllable. This is valid both for a water-based varnish and for a varnish based on an organic solvent such as ethyl acetate, ketone or butyl acetate.

Advantageously, the particles that can be used for producing the bristles are chosen from particles of mineral, vegetable or synthetic origin. Preferably, these particles are chosen from globular, lamellar or fibrous particles.

Tests conducted by the Applicant have shown that one could obtain good results, choosing a ratio between 1.05 and 1.4, between the average diameter of a circle in which the section of the hairs at the top asperities, and the average diameter of a circle in which fits the section of the hairs at the base of the asperities.

By way of nonlimiting examples, mention may be made of particles of mica, of Ca carbonate, of ZnO, of TiO 2 , of MgO, of Al 2 O 3 , of cotton, of cellulose, of silica, of silicates, of talc, clays, urea / formaldehyde; wood powder, graphite, carbon black, iron oxides or cosmetically compatible metals, and mixtures thereof.

Advantageously, said particles are present in the matrix of the hairs in a proportion of 0.2% to 20% by volume, and preferably in a proportion of 2% to 10%, and more particularly in a proportion of 2.5% to 6%, based on the total volume of said hairs.

These particles are chosen so that their mean size is between 2 μm and 500 μm, and preferably between 5 μm and 200 μm, and more particularly between 10 μm and 150 μm. Particles of different types may be used, and the average size may be different, too.

According to one embodiment, the applicator member comprises at least one tuft consisting of said bristles, the bristles being oriented substantially parallel, one end of the tuft being attached to the gripping element by through a rod. Such an applicator is particularly suitable for the application of a product for nails. Such an applicator member may also be shaped as a "blush" brush, allowing the application of a powder on the face, as a brush for the application of an eye shadow or as an eyeliner brush for makeup purposes. eyebrows.

According to a particular embodiment of the invention, said applicator member may be integral with a free end of a support. In this case, the applicator member is disposed in a plane of said support and oriented transversely to a longitudinal axis of the support. Such an arrangement can be adopted, advantageously, for a mascara applicator on the eyelashes.

According to another embodiment, said bristles are oriented, substantially radially on the applicator member, with respect to a central or eccentric core. In this case, the applicator can be used as a mascara brush or as a hair dye applicator on the hair.

Dans ce cas, on obtient une brosse du type « goupillon ».Advantageously, such a core is formed by twisting two branches of a wire, so as to clamp the bristles between the twisted branches of the core. In this case, we obtain a brush type "brush".

The applicator may have variable external shapes, Thus, the outer profile of the applicator, defined by the ends of the bristles, can be adjusted to the needs, depending on the nature of the product to be applied and the morphology of the surface to be treated. This profile can be obtained for example by mowing, using a clipper, the free ends of the bristles. The applicator may also include a mixture of bristles of different lengths.

In addition, the bristles of the applicator according to the invention may be: tapered or rounded ends, fork-shaped or pin head, or have undergone all kinds of treatment known to those skilled in the art. These hairs may be wavy in a plane or shaped spiral stretched.

In which respect the cross-section of the bristles, it can register, preferably, within a circle of diameter between about 6/100 th of a mm and about 30/100 ths of mm, and preferably between about 6 / 100 th of mm and about 20/100 th of mm, this circle passing through the peaks of the asperities.

Dans ce cas, la longueur des poils est, par exemple, de l'ordre de 7 mm à 12 mm.Depending on the nature of the applicator member as well as that of the product to be applied, the length of the bristles may be between about 2 mm and about 25 mm. In the case of a brush type "brush", the length of a hair is defined by the distance between its two free ends. In this case, the length of the bristles is, for example, of the order of 7 mm to 12 mm.

The shape of the cross section of the bristles can be selected from cruciform sections; trilobe; tetralobe; oval full; oval hollow; full cylindrical; hollow cylindrical; full rectangular; hollow rectangular; full polygonal, such as triangular; polygonal hollow; 8, C, E, F, H, I, L, N, S, T "," V "," W; star-shaped or crescent-shaped.

  1. a) - préparer un mélange d'un matériau thermoplastique et d'au moins une charge particulaire dans une proportion appropriée ;
  2. b) - charger ledit mélange dans une machine à extruder ;
  3. c) - extruder à une température appropriée ledit mélange au travers d'une filière ;
  4. d) - refroidir la fibre sortant de la filière, notamment dans un bain de liquide à une température inférieure à la température d'extrusion ;
  5. e) - réchauffer la fibre, notamment dans un four, à une température voisine à la température de transition vitreuse dudit matériau thermoplastique, de manière à faire apparaître lesdites aspérités (B) sur la surface de ladite fibre ;
  6. f) - refroidir la fibre ;
In particular, the bristles that can be used for producing the applicators that have just been described can be obtained by a method, comprising the following steps:
  1. a) - preparing a mixture of a thermoplastic material and at least one particulate filler in an appropriate proportion;
  2. b) - loading said mixture in an extruding machine;
  3. c) - extruding at an appropriate temperature said mixture through a die;
  4. d) - cooling the fiber leaving the die, in particular in a bath of liquid at a temperature below the extrusion temperature;
  5. e) - heating the fiber, especially in an oven, to a temperature close to the glass transition temperature of said thermoplastic material, so as to reveal said asperities (B) on the surface of said fiber;
  6. f) - cool the fiber;
  7. g) - cut the fiber, to the desired length of the hair.

If necessary, stretching of said fiber between step e) and step f), said stretching having the effect of reducing the diameter of said fiber relative to its initial diameter and thus better show said asperities. Advantageously, the stretching of the fibers is carried out so that, after stretching, the fiber has a diameter of between 60% and 95%, relative to the initial diameter of the fiber before stretching.

The invention consists, apart from the arrangements described above, in a certain number of other arrangements, which will be more explicitly discussed below, with reference to exemplary embodiments described with reference to the accompanying drawings, but which are in no way limiting.

Cette tige 5 présente une extrémité inférieure 5a sur laquelle est fixé, par exemple par collage ou emboîtage, un organe d'application 4.Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a set of mascara application 1, of longitudinal axis X, for the application of a product M, contained in a cylindrical tank 2, and equipped with an applicator 3. L applicator 3 is integral with a plug 3a, adapted to be fixed by screwing on the neck 21 of the reservoir and serving as a gripping element. The neck 21 has an external thread 22, adapted to cooperate with a complementary thread 3b made on a lower portion of the inner surface of the plug 3a. The plug 3a has a generally elongated cylindrical shape, allowing easy handling. The plug 3a is provided with a central rod 5 emerging on the underside of the plug 3a. This rod 5 has a lower end 5a on which is fixed, for example by gluing or casing, an applicator member 4.

En position de stockage, l'organe d'essorage est traversé par la tige 5.The neck 21 of the bottle has a free circular edge 23, defining an opening 10. In this opening is mounted a wiper member 8, formed of an elastically deformable material. The wiper member is in the form of a thermowell whose bottom is turned towards the reservoir 2. The bottom is open, so as to form a circular spin lip, suitable, during the extraction of the applicator 6 out of the tank, first wring the rod, then remove any excess product on the applicator member. In the storage position, the wiper member is traversed by the rod 5.

La loupe A montre une vue agrandie d'un poil présentant des aspérités B.The applicator member 4 shown in FIG. 1 is a brush for applying mascara to the eyelashes. Such a brush comprises an elongate core 4a, formed by twisting two branches of a metal wire previously folded U. The core 4a is fixed by press fitting, at the end 5a of the rod 5. Hair 9 are implanted radially between the wires forming the core 4a. When the branches of the wire are twisted, the bristles 9 are tightened and held between the turns of the core 4a. Magnifying glass A shows an enlarged view of a hair with B asperities.

These asperities are obtained by incorporation of particles P in the material constituting the bristles 9, so as to form micro-bosses B distributed randomly on the surface of the bristles. Thus, at the touch, such a hair 9 has a significant roughness. After extracting the applicator out of tank, a significant product rate remains hanging between micro-bosses B, even after spinning.

Ainsi, la brosse 4 peut comporter un mélange de poils à aspérités B de différents types (différents diamètres, formes, sections, élasticités, flexibilités, matériaux).The bristles 9 consist, advantageously of a matrix Q, in particular thermoplastic having a suitable level of particles P. The bristles that can be used for the applicators in accordance with the invention are illustrated, in a nonlimiting manner, in FIGS. 1 (magnifying glass A ) and 6 to 18. Thus, the brush 4 may comprise a mixture of bristles with asperities B of different types (different diameters, shapes, sections, elasticities, flexibilities, materials).

Such a brush may have any known external shape obtained, for example by cutting the free ends of the bristles 9, using a clipper.

The brush according to the invention, according to the embodiment considered, is able to load strongly mascara. At his touch, the eyelashes load themselves strongly with mascara. When the user moves the brush 1 on the eyelashes, they continue to be in contact with the brush over their entire length and are coated while bending.

The bristles of the brush paint the eyelashes. When the user moves the brush with respect to the eyelashes, they are supported by the hairs by means of the asperities B, random arrangement. The product is distributed according to the degree of interpenetration of the eyelashes in the brush, all around and along the length of each eyelash. The eyelashes are further combed and lengthened. In addition, thanks to the roughness, the asperities B cause an increased attachment of the eyelashes on the surface of the bristles 9, so as to obtain a better bending of said eyelashes.

Thus, each lash is homogeneously coated. There is no noticeable difference in makeup between the end eyelashes of the eyelid and those in the middle. The eyelashes are perfectly separated from each other, elongated and strongly curved.

In FIG. 2, according to a second embodiment, it is possible to see an application assembly of the liquid nail product type, generally designated by the reference 101. This assembly comprises a reservoir 102, having a longitudinal axis X of symmetry, and an applicator 106 provided with a sleeve 103. The reservoir 102, advantageously made of glass, contains a liquid or viscous product V to be applied, for example a nail polish composition.

The neck 121 has an external thread 122 capable of cooperating with a complementary thread formed inside the sleeve 103.

The sleeve 103 also comprises an applicator member 104 which, in this case, is in the form of a brush consisting of a tuft of bristles 109 attached to the free end 105a of a shank 105. The other end of the rod is secured to the sleeve 103. In the tuft, the bristles are arranged substantially parallel to each other.

When the application assembly is closed by screwing the sleeve 103 onto the reservoir 102, the tuft 104 of bristles 109 dipped in the product V. These bristles 109 are as defined above, and more particularly chosen from the bristles shown in FIG. magnifying glass A of FIG. 2 and FIGS. 6 to 18.

Pour essorer le pinceau, l'utilisateur l'essuie contre le bord libre du col de flacon 121.When the user wishes to apply product V, he unscrews the sleeve 3 serving as a gripping element, and extracts the brush from the reservoir. The brush then, most often, an excess of product. To wring the brush, the user wipes it against the free edge of the bottle neck 121.

It should be noted that, during this operation, the brush remains well loaded and has good retention of the varnish, even after several passages of spin. The deposition of varnish on the nail is performed with a flow rate both reduced and substantially constant. The varnish layer obtained is more regular, and the varnish is dried quickly.

L'autre extrémité de la tige 205 est fixée dans un manchon de préhension 203.In Figure 3 we see a mascara applicator 206, which differs from that shown in Figure 1 in that its rod 205 is substantially flat. he has at its free end 205a a width close to that of a set 204 of bristles 209, disposed in the plane of the rod 205, substantially perpendicular to an axis of the applicator 206. The bristles 209 used have asperities, and are of the same type as those described with reference to Figures 1 and 2. The other end of the rod 205 is fixed in a gripping sleeve 203.

The wiper holder element is provided with an open neck 210 closable by the gripping sleeve 203. The wiper member further comprises a shoulder 223, on which is mounted a wiper member 208. In this case, the wiper member is formed by an elastomeric membrane or foam, having a slot 211, able to be traversed by at least a portion of the rod 205 and the assembly 204 of the bristles 209. The implantation plan of the bristles 209 may also be inclined relative to the plane passing through the rod 205.

When the applicator 206 is removed from the reservoir, the brush loaded with mascara passes through the wiper 211. This wipes the outer face of the bristles. The retreints between the asperities B of the bristles constituting significant micro-reserves of product, remain loaded in product M.

When the applicators of the invention are subjected to a wringing operation, before application of the product, the spin is performed randomly. Indeed, the asperities B are arranged so that micro-product reserves are present on the entire surface of each hair. These micro-reserves are capable of ensuring the transfer of product in a very homogeneous manner on the support to be treated.

In an extruder 50 equipped with a screw feeder 52, a mixture of a thermoplastic material Q and an appropriate quantity of particles P is loaded. The thermoplastic material is, for example, a polyamide, and the particles are particles. globular titanium dioxide. The mixture is brought to a temperature permitting the extrusion of the thermoplastic material. Under the pressure of the magazine 52, the mixture (P, Q) is extruded through a die 54. The filament F thus obtained has an essentially smooth surface. After cooling, for example in a cold water bath (not shown), the material Q of the fiber F, forming a matrix, retracts, revealing the asperities B. To further accentuate the appearance of the asperities B, after heating the fiber F at a temperature close to the glass transition temperature, the fiber can be stretched longitudinally, as symbolized by the arrows E, E 'in FIG. 5. After cooling and after cutting to the desired length, the result is obtained bristles 9, able to be implanted in an applicator, as described above.

After said stretching of the fiber F, it has a diameter corresponding to about 60% to 95% of the diameter of the fiber before stretching.

The matrix Q of the pile 9 is shown in thermoplastic material, on the surface of which the asperities B emerge, formed by the particles P incorporated in the matrix Q According to the representation of Figure 6, the particle size P is relatively large.

According to a variant, shown in FIG. 7, P particles of a size substantially smaller than the size of the particles of FIG. 6 are used. As a consequence, the asperities B emerge from the matrix Q to a lesser degree.

Sure les figures 6 et 7, le rapport entre le diamètre moyen (D) d'un cercle dans lequel s'inscrit la section des poils au sommet des aspérités (B) et le diamètre moyen (d) d'un cercle dans lequel s'inscrit la section des poils à la base des aspérités, peut être compris, avantageusement, entre 1,05 et 1,4.Sure Figures 6 and 7, the ratio between the average diameter (D) of a circle in which the section of the bristles at the top of the asperities (B) and the mean diameter (d) of a circle in which s The section of the bristles at the base of the asperities can be included, advantageously between 1.05 and 1.4.

Depending on the cross section of the hair, the average particle size and the stretching rate, said particles (P) may be present in the bristles in a proportion of 0.2% to 20% by volume, and preferably in a proportion of 2% to 10%, and more particularly in a proportion of 2.5% to 6%, relative to the total volume of said hairs.

Figures 8 to 18 illustrate particularly preferred bristle configurations for making the applicators 6, 106, 206 described above. Avantageusement, la section transversale des poils ci-dessus s'inscrit dans un cercle dont le diamètre moyen est compris entre 6/100ème de mm et 30/100ème de mm, mesuré au sommet des aspérités B.Advantageously, the cross section of the bristles above is in a circle whose average diameter is between 6/100 th of mm and 30/100 th of mm, measured at the top of the asperities B.

The matrix Q of the bristles 9 can be made of polyamide (PA6, PA6 / 6, PA11, PA6 / 10, PA6 / 12), of polyester, of polyethylene, of polypropylene, of ethylene / propylene copolymer, of polyvinyl chloride, of poly tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), polyethylene terephthalate or thermoplastic elastomer, such as polyether blockamides or silicone rubbers.

It is understood that these asperity hairs B may include cruciform sections; trilobe; tetralobe; oval full; hollow oval (S 12 ); full cylindrical; hollow cylindrical; rectangular solid (S 14 ) hollow rectangular; full polygonal, such as triangular (S 10 ); polygonal hollow; in the form of "8", "C" (S 11), "E", "F", "H", "I" (S 9), "L" (S 13) "N", "S", "T" (S 8 ), "V", "W"; star-shaped or crescent-shaped.
