Claims (15)
- An applicator (5) for applying a composition to the keratinous fibers, in particular the eye lashes and/or eyebrows, comprising:- a stem (4);- a core (10) that extends along a longitudinal axis (Y);- applicator elements (12) carried by the core (10), the distal end of the applicator being defined by the core or by at least one applicator element;- the applicator elements (12) defining an envelope surface (E), wherein in the applicator:- the cross-section of the applicator defined by the envelope surface (E) increases, and then decreases, going towards the distal end (21) of the core (10) along at least two axes (X1, X2) that are perpendicular to each other, and defines a peak ridge (30) of maximum radius rmax that is strictly the greatest radius for the entire envelope surface (E), the peak ridge (30) being spaced apart from the distal end of the envelope surface by a distance (j) measured along the longitudinal axis that is less than or equal to 1.5 rmax; and- an angle (α) formed by slopes (40, 41) of the envelope surface (E) on either side of the peak ridge (30) in at least one longitudinal section being greater than 120°,
the core being a twisted wire core or being molded with the applicator elements that present a height that varies. - The applicator according to claim 1, wherein the envelope surface has a protuberance (22) of substantial spherical shape, adjacent to the distal end of the applicator, the protuberance defining the peak ridge (30).
- The applicator according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the envelope surface has a shape factor (rmin/rmax) that is greater than 0.7, at least in a transverse plane containing the peak ridge (30).
- The applicator according to claim 1 or 3, with the distance (j) being ≤ 1.2 rmax.
- The applicator according to claim 1, rmax being greater than or equal to 2.5 mm.
- The applicator according to claim 1, wherein the envelope surface has a distal portion that is at least partially spherical, to within 20%, in particular over a distance of at least 2 mm along the longitudinal axis.
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the envelope surface has a portion (22) with a cross-section that varies and a portion with a cross-section that is constant (20), the portion of varying cross-section having a length that is shorter than the length of the portion of constant cross-section.
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the core comprises a visible first portion (60) that does not carry any applicator elements and that extends between a second portion of the core supporting the applicator elements and a stem (4) to which the core is connected, the length (11) of the first portion (60) being greater than or equal to 5 mm.
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the peak ridge (30) is at a distance (rmax) lying in the range 2.5 mm to 7.5 mm from the axis (Y) of the core (10).
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the ratio R1=dmax/dcore is greater than or equal to 2.5, where dcore corresponds to the diameter in which the cross section of the core is inscribed.
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the ratio R2=dmax/dstem is greater than or equal to 2.5, where dstem is the maximum diameter of the stem.
- The applicator according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the applicator elements are integrally molded with the core.
- The applicator according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein the applicator elements and the core are molded in different materials.
- A packaging and applicator device for applying a composition on the keratinous fibers, comprising:- a receptacle containing the composition to be applied on the keratinous fibers,- a wiping member,
an applicator according to any one of the preceding claims. - The device according to the preceding claim, wherein the ratio R3=dmax/Preceptacle is greater than or equal to 3, where Preceptacle corresponds to the distance between a top of the receptacle when the applicator is absent and an internal surface of a bottom of the receptacle.
