Description

The present invention relates to a device for the application of a product, in particular a cosmetic product, in particular a make-up product and / or a care product. The product may be applied to the skin, to the nails or to the keratinous fibers, in particular the hair, the eyelashes or the eyebrows.

In the field of makeup, cosmeticians are constantly looking for new effects.

This is true in particular in the field of mascaras, where one seeks to obtain make-ups that can be loaded, natural, curling, elongating, or that result from a combination of these different basic characteristics.

The search for new application devices can also be guided by the appearance of new makeup compositions, which, because of their rheology, can not be applied with conventional applicators.

Thus, the patent literature is full of patents describing devices whose object is to produce new makeup effects or to allow the application of compositions having particular rheologies.

By way of examples, devices which are distinguished from each other by the density and / or the shape of their application elements (generally fibers) by their longitudinal and / or transverse profile are described in these patents. by the nature of the material constituting the support and / or the application elements, by the treatment to which all or part of the application device may be subjected, or by any other element of the packaging and application assembly of which the application device is only a constituent part (for example, the wiper).

So, more specifically, the demand for FR-A-2,668,905 describes a method of obtaining a mascara brush consisting of, after twisting the brush and mowing according to the desired profile, heating the ends of the fibers so as to melt them, and thus create at the end of the fibers small bulges in the form of balls, resulting from the retraction of the polymeric material. After such treatment, the fibers remain substantially straight.

In another example, the US-A-5,161,554 describes a mascara brush twisted brush type, and whose fibers are of variable section along their longitudinal axis. The fibers may be zig-zag or wavy. This results in fibers having an alternation of curvatures in one direction and then in the other, with an evolutionary radius of curvature between a maximum radius and a minimum radius at each inversion of curvature.

In this document, a number of operations are described, especially during the extrusion of the fibers, or after extrusion, so as to give them the desired profile.

After treatment, conventionally, the fibers are arranged in the form of a web introduced between the two strands of a U-shaped wire. The latter are then twisted relative to each other so as to configure the fibers in the form of a helical arrangement with several turns.

Experience shows that:
  1. i) when the deformations are generated during the extrusion process of the fibers, due to the extrusion process itself, they necessarily have a large minimum radius of curvature; and
  2. ii) when the deformations result from an extrusion treatment they also have a large minimum radius of curvature, failing which, their automated manipulation to put them in the form of a sheet to be placed between the two strands of the U-shaped wire. , and in order to twist the two strands of the wire, would be most problematic.

It is also known to make mascara brushes by molding. The mold is designed so that the free end of the applicator elements, which generally are straight, ends in a fork-shaped, or hook-shaped portion. Due to obtaining these end portions by molding, their relative orientations are predetermined. The results in terms of makeup are disappointing. In addition, it is necessary to have a mold by type of makeup sought.

En outre, les rayons de courbure obtenus descendent difficilement en dessous de 50 mm.It is also known, for mascara brushes, to grind or abrade the free ends of the fibers so as to burst them into multiple strands. Such a purely mechanical treatment may result in portions of curved fibers. These curved portions are, however, strictly localized at the ends of the fibers. In addition, the radii of curvature obtained difficult to descend below 50 mm.

With such radii of curvature, the effects in terms of makeup result, are hardly noticeable.

Also, is it an object of the present application to provide an application device, in particular for a make-up and / or care product, solving all or part of the problems discussed with reference to known devices.

It is in particular an object of the invention to provide a device for applying a make-up and / or care product, constituting an alternative solution for obtaining certain makeup effects, or offering the possibility of to obtain makeup different makeup obtained with conventional devices.

It is another object of the invention to provide a cost effective device.

It is yet another object of the invention to provide a method for manufacturing an applicator, in particular for a skincare and / or make-up product, which is simple and inexpensive to use on an industrial tool. .

Still other objects will appear in the following detailed description.

According to the invention, these objects are achieved by providing a device for the application of a product, in particular makeup and / or care, comprising an arrangement of polymeric fibers having at least one free end, said fibers being fixedly mounted on a support and having, at least for some, at least one curved portion which:
  1. i) extends continuously from the support to a (or their) free end, and
  2. ii) has a mean radius of curvature of less than 45 mm, said curved portions being randomly oriented relative to each other.

By "continuously" is meant without inversion of the direction of the curvature between the support and the free end.

Preferably, such a curvature is obtained by subjecting all or part of the application device to moderate heating, that is to say at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the polymer forming said fibers that it is desired to curl, and less than the melting temperature of said polymer in the case of a semi-crystalline polymer.

The duration of the heating is adjusted according to the material, the diameter of the fibers, so as to obtain the desired curvature, without causing shrinkage of the material, suitable, as described in the application of FR-A-2,668,905 mentioned above, to cause a substantial shortening of the fibers and to modify the cross section, particularly at the end.

Above the limit value of about 45 mm, the effects, especially in terms of makeup effects, may, depending on the rheology of the product to be applied, be considered insufficient.

The large curvature of the fibers makes it possible, even in the case where the fiber density, in particular by turn in the case of a twisted brush type mascara brush, is important, to substantially reduce the space requirements. between two successive turns, and create a clutter effect, thus avoiding makeup is done in packets.

In fact, by playing on the radius of curvature of the fibers, in combination with other parameters such as the density of the fibers, their diameter, the shape of their cross-section, or the shape of the brush, it is possible to go from a most natural make-up to a makeup of the most charging, and / or to obtain more or less elongation and / or bending.

Due to this important curvature, it is also possible, in the case of an applicator intended for make-up, to obtain novel make-ups, relative to make-ups obtained with conventional applicators, and this, with identical makeup compositions.

In the case of a nail varnish applicator or nail care composition, configured as a brush, the curvature of the fibers helps to space them relative to each other, thereby increasing the amount of product that can be retained between the brush fibers. The autonomy of the brush is, therefore, much better.

In addition, because of this particular configuration of the (or) tuft (s) of fibers of such a brush, marbled effects can be obtained on the nail.

Preferably, said fibers are of substantially constant curvature from the support to the corresponding free end. By "substantially constant" is meant a variation of radius of curvature of at most 15% around a mean value, and preferably at most 10% around said average value.

According to the invention, the applicator device can also be configured in the form of a substantially parallel arrangement of bristles relative to one another, and extending, in the manner of a toothbrush, perpendicular to an axis of said toothbrush support. Such applicators are generally intended to be used in combination with a product packaged in the form of a solid bread, to be moistened before use.

De préférence encore, le rayon de courbure est compris entre 3 mm et 10 mm.The average radius of curvature of the curved portions is preferably between 2 mm and 40 mm. Preferably, it is between 2 and 30 mm. More preferably, it is less than 20 mm, and greater than 3 mm. More preferably, the radius of curvature is between 3 mm and 10 mm.

Advantageously, said fibers are made of a thermoplastic material, in particular polyamide, or a thermoplastic elastomer. The thermoplastic material may be 100% amorphous or semi-crystalline.

By way of examples, mention may be made of polyamides 6 such as those sold under the trade name Tynex®.

Le diamètre des fibres peut être compris entre 6/100eme de mm et 35/100eme de mm, et, de préférence, entre 10/100eme de mm et 25/100eme de mm.The diameter of the fibers may be between 6/100 th of mm and 35/100 th of mm, and preferably between 10/100 th of mm and 25/100 th of mm.

According to a particular embodiment, the application device comprises fibers or substantially straight fiber portions.

Alternatively, it comprises a first group of curved portions having a first average radius of curvature and a second group of curved portions having a second average radius of curvature, distinct from the first.

The different radii of curvature of the first and second groups can result from the use of first and second types of fibers made of different materials, in particular having different glass transition temperatures.

However, such differences can also be achieved with fibers made of identical materials. In this case, several possibilities exist:
  1. i) the heat treatment conditions to which the curved portions of the two groups are subjected are different in terms of temperature or heating time; or
  2. ii) the curved portions of the first group are portions of fibers whose diameter and / or shape are different from the diameter and / or the shape of the fibers from which the curved portions of the second group are derived.

Thus, it is possible to use, alone or in mixtures, solid or hollow hairs, of circular, triangular, elongated, C-shaped, or four-leaf clover (quadrilobe) section. Still other forms can be used.

The different groups of curved portions can, when mixed with each other, participate in obtaining particular application results, especially when it comes to makeup. They can also, when separated from each other, be used for different areas of the region to be treated.

Advantageously, the support consists of a twisted core, formed from two strands, in particular of wire, twisted relative to each other, the fibers being fixedly held between the two strands twisted and extending radially. relative to the twisted core, the device being intended for the application of product on the keratinous fibers, in particular the eyelashes or the eyebrows.

  1. i) des fibres dont les deux portions sont courbes, à courbures identiques ou différentes ;
With an application device according to this preferred embodiment, each fiber, held substantially in the middle by the twisted core, comprises two portions each extending from the support to a corresponding free end. On such an applicator, may be present:
  1. i) fibers whose two portions are curved, with identical or different curvatures;
  2. (ii) fibers of which one portion is curved and the other portion is straight; and eventually
  3. iii) mixed with fibers of one and / or other of categories i) and ii), fibers of which both portions are rectilinear.

Preferably, the fibers are arranged in a helical arrangement, the number of fibers per turn being between 5 and 80, and preferably between 10 and 45. The helical organization of the fibers may be more or less noticeable, even totally imperceptible, on the surface of the applicator, depending on the degree of curvature of the fibers.

The cross section of the application device may be circular, or polygonal, in particular triangular, square, or pentagonal. Still other forms can be envisaged.

The twisted core can be rectilinear or curved.

Dans ce cas, la brosse est qualifiée de "gauche".The twisted core has a plurality of turns that can rise from left to right when the brush is viewed from the front in a vertical position. In this case, the brush is called "left".

Dans ce cas, la brosse est qualifiée de "droite".Alternatively, the twisted core has a plurality of turns rising from the right to the left when the brush is viewed from the front in vertical position. In this case, the brush is called "right".

In the case of an applicator with several groups of curved portions of different curvatures, the latter may be mixed with each other on the support.

Alternatively, the different groups of curved portions may be located at different locations of the support.

Thus, the first and second groups of curved portions may be offset along a longitudinal axis of the support.

Alternatively, they are angularly offset around the twisted core.

According to another aspect of the invention, a method of manufacturing a device for the application of a product, in particular makeup and / or care, comprising the following steps is also realized:
  1. i) fixedly disposing a plurality of polymeric fibers on a support, and
  2. ii) after fixing the fibers to the support, exposing at least a portion of the fibers at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the polymeric material constituting them for a period such that:
    1. a) that said fibers have at least one curved portion; and
    2. b) the length of said fibers is substantially unchanged.

In the case of a semicrystalline material, the fibers are heated to a temperature substantially lower than the melting temperature of the material constituting them.

The heating of said fibers can be done by convection, in particular by immersion in a heated liquid, or by contact with hot air, or by radiation, especially infrared radiation.

The fibers may be immersed in said liquid for a time ranging from 4 to 25 seconds, and preferably from 7 to 15 seconds.

As a purely indicative, for a twisted brush comprising polyamide 6 fibers whose diameter is 13/100 th of mm, the maximum curvature is obtained after 8 seconds of heating in water at 100 ° C.

According to yet another aspect, the invention relates to a set of packaging and application of a product, in particular a cosmetic product, comprising:
  1. a) a reservoir containing the product to be applied; and
  2. b) an application device according to the invention.

The packaging and application assembly may furthermore comprise a wiper intended to be traversed by the application device, at least during its extraction from the container, so as to dose the amount of product present on and between the fibers.

Figure 1 illustrates a conventional brush 50 brush type, as commonly used for makeup eyelashes or eyebrows.

Les poils 52 s'étendent radialement au support et sont sensiblement rectilignes ou du moins, présentent un rayon de courbure important (supérieur à 60 mm).The brush 50 comprises a twisted core 51 obtained from a U-folded wire and between the branches of which, prior to the twisting movement, a ply of bristles 52 is introduced. In response to the twisting movement, the bristles 52 are driven in a helical configuration formed of a succession of turns more or less spaced apart. The bristles 52 extend radially to the support and are substantially rectilinear or at least have a large radius of curvature (greater than 60 mm).

An unpouched portion of the twisted core 51 is mounted on a rod 53. The end of the rod 53 opposite the brush 50 is generally connected to a member (not shown) forming both a gripping member for the brush 50 , and shutter member for the container with which the brush is associated.

Figure 2 shows a brush 1 of the type of that of Figure 1, but according to the invention.

According to this embodiment, and in the same manner as that 50 of Figure 1, the brush 1 is of the "left brush" type, the turns of the twisted core 3 rising from left to right when the brush 1 is front view in vertical position.

L'âme torsadée 3 de la brosse est rectiligne et s'étend selon un axe X correspondant à l'axe de la tige 4.In the same way as for the brush of FIG. 1, an unstripped part of the twisted core 3 is fixed to the end of a rod 4. The twisted core 3 of the brush is rectilinear and extends according to an axis X corresponding to the axis of the rod 4.

The bristles 2 of the brush, unlike the bristles 52 of the brush of the previous figure, are curved over their entire length.

Le projecteur de profil utilisé est un projecteur de profil vendu sous la référence commerciale H562 par la Société HAUSER®.Their average curvature, measured using a profile projector with a magnification of 10, is of the order of 3 to 10 mm. The profile projector used is a profile projector sold under the trade reference H562 by the company HAUSER®.

Bien que les courbures des fibres les unes relativement aux autres soient d'orientation aléatoire, on a observé que, dans un exemple de mise en oeuvre préférentielle, le traitement thermique auquel sont soumises les fibres cause une courbure de ces dernières qui est sensiblement constante depuis le support jusqu'à leur(s) extrémité(s) libre(s).Although the curvatures of the fibers relative to each other are of random orientation, it has been observed that, in an example of a preferred embodiment, the heat treatment to which the fibers are subjected causes a curvature of the fibers which is substantially constant since the support to their free end (s).

La figure 11, à laquelle il est maintenant fait référence, illustre schématiquement les principales étapes de la fabrication d'une brosse 1 du type de celle de la figure 2.Figure 11, to which reference is now made, schematically illustrates the main steps of the manufacture of a brush 1 of the type of that of Figure 2.

In a first step, 200, the bristles are introduced, in the form of a sheet, between the two strands of a wire, which are then twisted. This results in a cylindrical pin 201 of about 15 mm in diameter.

The brush 201 is then mowed (step 202) so as to give it a frustoconical profile specific to the desired application. The resultant brush 203 is of a diameter, at its widest end, of about 7 to 8 mm. The bristles of the brush 203 are substantially rectilinear.

Lors de l'étape suivante 204, la brosse 203 est immergée pendant environ 8 secondes dans de l'eau à 100° C.In the next step 204, the brush 203 is immersed for about 8 seconds in water at 100 ° C.

This results in a conformation of the polymeric material, which conformation causes a substantial curvature of the fibers whose average radius is of the order of 3 to 10 mm.

The brush 1, resulting from the process just described, has turns that are very little visible, because of the clutter effect generated by the random orientation curvatures of its bristles 2.

Ils sont réalisés en polyamide 6.According to a particular embodiment, the bristles are of circular section. Their diameter is of the order of 13/100 th of mm. They are made of polyamide 6.

La brosse comprend 23 à 25 poils par spire. The brush includes 23 to 25 bristles per turn.

A cross section of the brush 1 perpendicular to the X axis is, as shown in Figure 3A, circular in shape.

According to a variant illustrated in Figure 3B, the section of the brush 1 is of square cross section.

According to another variant illustrated in Figure 3C, the section of the brush 1 is of triangular shape.

The cross section of the bristles 2 may be of different shapes.

In FIG. 4A, the bristles 2 are solid and of circular section.

In Figure 4B, the bristles 2 are of four-leaf clover-shaped section.

In Figure 4C, the bristles 2 are of triangular section.

In Figure 4D, the bristles 2 are of rice-grain section.

In Figure 4E, the bristles 2 are hollow and of annular section.

In FIG. 4F, the bristles 2 are of C-shaped section.

The brush 1 may comprise bristles 2 of a single type of section, or bristles of different sections, in a mixture.

Dans la variante de la figure 5, seule la partie de la brosse 1 située d'un même côté de l'âme torsadée 3 à fait l'objet du traitement thermique de l'étape 204 de la figure 11.In the variant of Figure 5, only the portion of the brush 1 located on the same side of the twisted core 3 is the subject of the heat treatment of step 204 of Figure 11.

Les portions 5 et 6 s'étendent chacune sur toute la longueur de la brosse 1This results in a brush 1 which, on a portion 5 corresponding to 180 ° around the twisted core 3 has portions of straight bristles, and which on the rest 6, has portions of curved bristles 2. The portions 5 and 6 each extend over the entire length of the brush 1

Portion 5 is used for the application of the product on the eyelashes. Portion 6 is used for lash separation.

In the variant of FIG. 6, only the front half of the brush 1, located opposite the rod 4, has been subjected to the heat treatment of the step 204 of FIG. 11.

This results in a brush 1 which on a first axial portion 5, extending over substantially half the length of the brush 1, has straight bristles 2. On the other half axial 6, the bristles 2 are curved.

As for the previous embodiment, the portion 5 is used for the application of the product on the eyelashes. Portion 6 is used for lash separation.

The brush 1 according to the variant of Figure 7 differs from the brush according to Figure 2 in that the twisted core 3 is curved, the curvature corresponding substantially to the curvature of the eyelash implantation line on the eyelid.

The brush 1 according to the variant of FIG. 8 differs from the brush according to FIG. 2 in that it is of the "straight brush" type, the turns of the twisted core 3 rising from the right to the left when the brush 1 is seen from the front in vertical position.

A nouveau, on obtient un maquillage différent du maquillage obtenu avec la brosse de la figure 2.Again, a makeup different from the makeup obtained with the brush of FIG. 2 is obtained.

In the embodiment of FIG. 9, the application device 81 is configured in the form of a brush intended for the application of varnish on the nails. It comprises a tuft of bristles 82 stapled at the end of a rod 83 of axis X. The bristles 82 are oriented substantially parallel to the X axis (angle relative to the X axis less than 45 °).

The end of the rod 83 opposite the tuft of bristles 82 is connected to an element 84 forming both a gripping member for the brush 81, and a closure element for the container with which the brush is associated.

The curvature of the bristles 82 of the brush 81 is obtained in the same manner as for the curvature of the bristles of the mascara brushes of the preceding figures, simply by immersing the brush 81 for about 10 seconds in water at 100 ° C. .

Due to the curvature of the bristles 82, the product retention of the brush is greater than in the case of straight bristles. The autonomy of the brush is improved accordingly.

The assembly 100 comprises a container 101 containing a stock of cosmetic product such as mascara and an applicator 110. The applicator 110 comprises an application device 1, of twisted brush type, attached to one end of a rod 4 of axis X. The other end of the rod 4 is secured to a gripping element 7 which also constitutes a closing cap of the container 101. The container 101 comprises a wiper member 106 constituted in this case by a cylindrical sleeve whose end ends with a flexible, annular lip, 107. In the mounted position of the applicator 110 on the container 101, the application device 1 is in its entirety between the wiper lip 107 and the bottom of the container. Other types of wiper members may be used, for example an open or semi open cell foam block, traversed axially by a slot or a passage, the edges of which delimit it are substantially contiguous in the absence of constraint.

Le mouvement d'extraction de l'applicateur est de direction sensiblement longitudinale à l'axe X. Après usage, l'utilisatrice remet l'applicateur dans le récipient, en faisant à nouveau passer le dispositif d'application 1 au travers de l'organe d'essorage 106.In order to use the applicator, the user unscrews the cap formed by the gripping member 7, and extracts the applicator 110 from the container 101. application device 1 is passed through the wiper member 106, so as to dose the amount of product distributed on the teeth or on the bristles. The extraction movement of the applicator is of substantially longitudinal direction to the axis X. After use, the user puts the applicator back into the container, again passing the application device 1 through the wiper member 106.

In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to preferred embodiments of the invention. It is obvious that variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
