Definitions
- the present invention relates to an applicator for applying a product, such as a cosmetic product for example, to keratinous fibers such as eyelashes or eyebrows.
- the invention also relates to an application assembly comprising an applicator and a container for containing the product to be applied.
- the product to be applied is a mascara containing fibers
- an applicator comprising an applicator element capable of aligning the fibers in such a way that they have an orientation substantially parallel to the eyelashes. when the product is applied.
- the new device comprises a rod and an applicator element at one end of the rod, this applicator element comprising a base and at least two projecting elements connecting to the base and is characterized by the fact that said projecting elements each connect to the base along an axis extending substantially in the extension of a corresponding side of the base when it has a polygonal cross section or substantially tangentially to the base when the latter This has a non-polygonal cross-section.
- the axis of the projecting element extends substantially in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base.
- the axis of the projecting element also extends from the portion of the projecting element which joins the base to a free end of the projecting element.
- the applicator comprises an applicator element having a polygonal cross-section base, having a plurality of sides and a plurality of projecting elements disposed on the base. At least two projecting elements extend from the base substantially in the continuation of different sides of the base and in different directions.
- the arrangement of the projecting elements on the base makes it easier for the eyelashes to come into contact with the latter, which may have a perfectly defined surface state, which is not always the case with a conventional brush of the twisted-core type. .
- the eyelashes can be loaded with product in contact with the base.
- the base can thus participate actively in the application of the product on the eyelashes thanks to the particular arrangement of the projecting elements in the invention, which offers more freedom in the choice and arrangement of the latter. .
- a protruding member within the meaning of the present invention may correspond to or include a row of individual elements or reliefs, which may be arranged in multiple ways.
- the applicator advantageously makes it possible to produce such individual elements with a small spacing between two consecutive individual elements within each row.
- projecting elements or “individual elements” may correspond, for example, to bristles or teeth.
- the teeth or bristles can be initially separated from the base and fixed to the base to form the application element.
- the teeth or bristles can be made in one piece with the base, for example by molding.
- the applicator comprises at least two projecting elements oriented in the same direction of rotation around the longitudinal axis of the base.
- the protruding elements may be either substantially parallel or substantially non-parallel.
- the base may have a substantially constant cross section over at least a portion of its length, the totality of the individual elements of a row situated on this portion, preferably of each row, extending substantially in the extension of the corresponding side of the base when it has a polygonal section.
- the base may have a variable cross section, with substantially a regular or irregular polygonal profile, preferably regular, for example triangular, square, pentagonal, hexagonal or octagonal, the faces corresponding to the sides of the base being able to be flat or slightly concave or convex.
- the base When the base has a non-polygonal cross section, it may be circular or elliptical for example.
- the device can enable combing of the eyelashes or eyebrows and comprises at least one row of consecutive individual elements comprising a succession of consecutive individual elements at least partially offset alternately on either side of a surface. geometric separation.
- the individual elements may be teeth.
- Portions of at least two consecutive individual elements in the row of consecutive individual elements may be substantially aligned.
- substantially aligned is to be understood to mean that a portion of each of the substantially aligned portions of the consecutive individual elements is disposed at a first side of a line passing through the portions of the consecutive individual elements in question and a another part of each of the aligned portions of the consecutive elements is disposed on a second side of the line opposite the first side, this line being substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the row of consecutive individual elements.
- An example of such an embodiment with portions "substantially aligned” corresponds to consecutive individual elements arranged so that a straight line passes through the centers of each of the bases of the consecutive individual elements, especially when the elements are teeth.
- other achievements can be envisaged.
- At least two consecutive individual elements may have substantially contiguous portions.
- the expression “substantially joined” may be understood to mean that an eyelash is prevented from freely moving through the portions of at least two consecutive individual elements in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the base, because of the proximity of said portions.
- an eyelash penetrating between two consecutive individual elements having substantially contiguous portions is prevented from move freely through said portions due to the proximity of said portions and is gripped.
- the portions may be close enough to prevent the passage of an eyelash between them.
- substantially contiguous includes contacting or overlapping portions, these portions are not necessarily in contact, as long as the eyelash is prevented from moving freely between them.
- the choice of the spacing between the substantially contiguous parts may result from various considerations, including the average diameter of an eyelash and the nature of the product applied.
- the substantially contiguous parts make it possible to grip an eyelash.
- This gripping distributes the product in a substantially uniform manner over substantially the entire length of an eyelash.
- the gripping of the eyelashes by the substantially joined parts also allows to rearrange the eyelashes by moving the applicator.
- the displacement, in particular in rotation, of the applicator can allow to bend them.
- overlapping should be understood as meaning that two overlapping portions overlap when the applicator element is viewed from the side or from the front or, at the limit, only overlap with a ridge or point of contact.
- the substantially contiguous portions may have overlapping faces, extending either perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the base (or the row of elements) or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base (or the row of elements).
- At least one gap may be formed between consecutive individual elements having substantially contiguous portions.
- At least two consecutive individual elements may have upper parts either diverging away from one another or converging on the other. to each other, either crossing or extending substantially parallel to each other.
- At least two consecutive individual members may have upper portions directed toward opposite ends of the base.
- the above-mentioned geometric separation surface preferably passes through the centers of the bases of the substantially aligned individual elements.
- the bases are preferably parallel and their height may be, for example, greater than or equal to about 0.2 mm.
- the individual elements are teeth
- the latter can be made with a small gap at their base so that the eyelashes can be effectively grasped between two consecutive teeth, while having a greater distance between their free ends, this spacing promoting the engagement of the eyelashes between the teeth and the constitution of product reserves on the application element.
- the geometric separation surface may be a plane.
- the geometric separation surface is advantageously a joint plane for molding the applicator element.
- the geometric separation surface may also be a cylindrical surface whose director is a curve or a broken line.

- the geometric separation surface is a plane of alignment of substantially aligned portions of at least two consecutive teeth.
- the application element comprises individual elements in the form of teeth having bases whose depth is greater than the width.
- a relatively high depth provides the individual elements with good mechanical resistance to the forces exerted by the eyelashes on the device.
- the device can thus be used to apply a product that can harden relatively quickly.
- the ratio b / e is for example greater than or equal to 1.2, or even greater than or equal to 1.4, b being the depth of the base of a tooth and e its width.
- the ratio b / c is, for example, greater than or equal to 1.2, or even greater than or equal to 1.4, where b is the depth of the base of a tooth and c is the interval separating two successive teeth staggered from the same side of said geometric separation surface.
- the teeth may have a depth that varies according to the axial positioning along the axis of the base.
- the teeth can thus have an increasing depth, decreasing, increasing then decreasing or vice versa, from front to rear.
- the individual elements may be deeper than the gap separating two adjacent individual elements disposed on the same side of the geometric separation surface, the depth being measured in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the geometric separation surface.

- the application element may comprise at least one individual element having a concave or convex face directed towards an end of the application element.
- At least two individual elements may have a convex or concave face directed towards an end of the applicator element, one of the two elements may have a concave or convex face directed towards an end of the applicator element while the other of the two consecutive elements may have a planar face directed towards one end of the application element.
- the ratio of the gap separating two adjacent individual elements located on the same side of the geometric separation surface to the width of the individual element disposed on the opposite side of the geometric separation surface and located between the adjacent individual elements is between about 0.2 and 2.
- the above-mentioned gap and width are measured substantially midway up the individual elements.

- the distance d is of the order of 2 mm, the total height of the teeth being of the order of 3 mm.
- the spacing between the teeth of the same series of teeth may be relatively large in favor of the amount of product that the application element loads. without the application element losing its ability to grip the eyelashes, thanks to the offset of the teeth and the notches 82 formed by the upper parts 77 of the teeth remain sufficiently narrow.
- the row 100 comprises two series of teeth 102a and 102b arranged alternately, whose bases 103 are aligned parallel to the Z axis of the base 101 and whose upper parts are offset respectively on either side of a surface geometric separation S, constituted here by a plane extending parallel to the bases 103 of the teeth.

There is a need to improve the makeup quality achieved by means of a device comprising at least one row of elements projecting from a base of an application element.
In particular, there is a need for an applicator capable of loading the eyelashes with a relatively large amount of product and gripping the eyelashes to smooth the deposited product on their surface.
There is also a need to facilitate the makeup operation by allowing the user to make a satisfactory makeup eyelashes or eyebrows using a single applicator, without necessarily having to resort to an additional comb to smooth the product on the eyelashes or eyebrows after application of the product.
There is still a need for a device easy to manufacture and reproducible geometry.
There is still a need for a device for bending and lengthening the eyelashes sufficiently after the application of the product.
In addition, if the product to be applied is a mascara containing fibers, it is desirable to have an applicator comprising an applicator element capable of aligning the fibers in such a way that they have an orientation substantially parallel to the eyelashes. when the product is applied.
The new device according to the invention comprises a rod and an applicator element at one end of the rod, this applicator element comprising a base and at least two projecting elements connecting to the base and is characterized by the fact that said projecting elements each connect to the base along an axis extending substantially in the extension of a corresponding side of the base when it has a polygonal cross section or substantially tangentially to the base when the latter This has a non-polygonal cross-section.
The axis of the projecting element extends substantially in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base.
The axis of the projecting element also extends from the portion of the projecting element which joins the base to a free end of the projecting element.
In a particular embodiment, the applicator comprises an applicator element having a polygonal cross-section base, having a plurality of sides and a plurality of projecting elements disposed on the base. At least two projecting elements extend from the base substantially in the continuation of different sides of the base and in different directions.
The arrangement of the projecting elements on the base makes it easier for the eyelashes to come into contact with the latter, which may have a perfectly defined surface state, which is not always the case with a conventional brush of the twisted-core type. .
When the device according to the invention is used as an application element, the eyelashes can be loaded with product in contact with the base.
The base can thus participate actively in the application of the product on the eyelashes thanks to the particular arrangement of the projecting elements in the invention, which offers more freedom in the choice and arrangement of the latter. .
A protruding member within the meaning of the present invention may correspond to or include a row of individual elements or reliefs, which may be arranged in multiple ways.
The applicator advantageously makes it possible to produce such individual elements with a small spacing between two consecutive individual elements within each row.
For the purposes of the present invention, "projecting elements" or "individual elements" may correspond, for example, to bristles or teeth.
The teeth or bristles can be initially separated from the base and fixed to the base to form the application element.
Alternatively, the teeth or bristles can be made in one piece with the base, for example by molding.
Preferably, the applicator comprises at least two projecting elements oriented in the same direction of rotation around the longitudinal axis of the base.
The protruding elements may be either substantially parallel or substantially non-parallel.
The base may have a substantially constant cross section over at least a portion of its length, the totality of the individual elements of a row situated on this portion, preferably of each row, extending substantially in the extension of the corresponding side of the base when it has a polygonal section.
The base may have a variable cross section, with substantially a regular or irregular polygonal profile, preferably regular, for example triangular, square, pentagonal, hexagonal or octagonal, the faces corresponding to the sides of the base being able to be flat or slightly concave or convex.
When the base has a non-polygonal cross section, it may be circular or elliptical for example.
In a particular embodiment, the device can enable combing of the eyelashes or eyebrows and comprises at least one row of consecutive individual elements comprising a succession of consecutive individual elements at least partially offset alternately on either side of a surface. geometric separation.
As indicated above, the individual elements may be teeth.
By playing on the geometry of the teeth and their spacing, it is possible to form more or less important cavities between the teeth, cavities that can be loaded with product at the time of application.
It is thus possible to make a row of teeth capable of loading with a substantial amount of product, without this row of teeth losing its ability to grip the eyelashes.
Portions of at least two consecutive individual elements in the row of consecutive individual elements may be substantially aligned.
The phrase "substantially aligned" is to be understood to mean that a portion of each of the substantially aligned portions of the consecutive individual elements is disposed at a first side of a line passing through the portions of the consecutive individual elements in question and a another part of each of the aligned portions of the consecutive elements is disposed on a second side of the line opposite the first side, this line being substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the row of consecutive individual elements. An example of such an embodiment with portions "substantially aligned" corresponds to consecutive individual elements arranged so that a straight line passes through the centers of each of the bases of the consecutive individual elements, especially when the elements are teeth. However, other achievements can be envisaged.
In addition, at least two consecutive individual elements may have substantially contiguous portions. The expression "substantially joined" may be understood to mean that an eyelash is prevented from freely moving through the portions of at least two consecutive individual elements in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the base, because of the proximity of said portions. In other words, when the applicator element is brought into contact with the eyelashes, so that it extends substantially transversely to the eyelashes, an eyelash penetrating between two consecutive individual elements having substantially contiguous portions is prevented from move freely through said portions due to the proximity of said portions and is gripped. The portions may be close enough to prevent the passage of an eyelash between them. Although "substantially contiguous" includes contacting or overlapping portions, these portions are not necessarily in contact, as long as the eyelash is prevented from moving freely between them.
The choice of the spacing between the substantially contiguous parts may result from various considerations, including the average diameter of an eyelash and the nature of the product applied.
As indicated above, the substantially contiguous parts make it possible to grip an eyelash.
This gripping distributes the product in a substantially uniform manner over substantially the entire length of an eyelash.
When the applicator is used to apply mascara, such a substantially uniform application over substantially the entire length of the eyelash may cause the eyelash to appear longer.
The gripping of the eyelashes by the substantially joined parts also allows to rearrange the eyelashes by moving the applicator. For example, when the eyelashes are gripped, the displacement, in particular in rotation, of the applicator can allow to bend them.
The phrase "overlapping" should be understood as meaning that two overlapping portions overlap when the applicator element is viewed from the side or from the front or, at the limit, only overlap with a ridge or point of contact.
The substantially contiguous portions may have overlapping faces, extending either perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the base (or the row of elements) or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base (or the row of elements).
At least one gap, preferably a V-shaped groove or indentation, may be formed between consecutive individual elements having substantially contiguous portions.
When the base is observed along its longitudinal axis, that is to say from one end, at least two consecutive individual elements may have upper parts either diverging away from one another or converging on the other. to each other, either crossing or extending substantially parallel to each other.
At least two consecutive individual members may have upper portions directed toward opposite ends of the base.
The above-mentioned geometric separation surface preferably passes through the centers of the bases of the substantially aligned individual elements. The bases are preferably parallel and their height may be, for example, greater than or equal to about 0.2 mm.
When the individual elements are teeth, the latter can be made with a small gap at their base so that the eyelashes can be effectively grasped between two consecutive teeth, while having a greater distance between their free ends, this spacing promoting the engagement of the eyelashes between the teeth and the constitution of product reserves on the application element.
The geometric separation surface may be a plane.
The geometric separation surface is advantageously a joint plane for molding the applicator element.
The geometric separation surface may also be a cylindrical surface whose director is a curve or a broken line.
The geometric separation surface may be a non-planar surface, for example twisted or helical.
In some embodiments, the geometric separation surface is a plane of alignment of substantially aligned portions of at least two consecutive teeth.
In a particular embodiment, the application element comprises individual elements in the form of teeth having bases whose depth is greater than the width.
A relatively high depth provides the individual elements with good mechanical resistance to the forces exerted by the eyelashes on the device.
The device can thus be used to apply a product that can harden relatively quickly.
The ratio b / e is for example greater than or equal to 1.2, or even greater than or equal to 1.4, b being the depth of the base of a tooth and e its width.
The ratio b / c is, for example, greater than or equal to 1.2, or even greater than or equal to 1.4, where b is the depth of the base of a tooth and c is the interval separating two successive teeth staggered from the same side of said geometric separation surface.
The teeth may have a depth that varies according to the axial positioning along the axis of the base.
The teeth can thus have an increasing depth, decreasing, increasing then decreasing or vice versa, from front to rear.
In general, the individual elements may be deeper than the gap separating two adjacent individual elements disposed on the same side of the geometric separation surface, the depth being measured in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the geometric separation surface. the base and the aforesaid gap being measured in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base.
In a particular embodiment, the device according to the invention comprises at least one row of individual elements such as teeth whose bases have front and / or rear faces perpendicular to the axis of the base or forming an acute angle or obtuse with this one.

The device may comprise at least one row of individual elements comprising a first series of teeth located on one side of the geometric separation surface and a second series of teeth located on the other side of this geometric separation surface, alternately with the teeth of the first series, the teeth of the first series having their front face, respectively rear, convex or concave forward, respectively rearward, and the teeth of the second series having their front face respectively rearward , concave or convex forwards or backwards respectively.
The device may also include a row of teeth comprising a first series of teeth located on one side of a geometric separation surface and a second series of teeth located on the other side of this geometric separation surface, the teeth of the first series being arranged alternately with the teeth of the second series, the teeth of the first series having their front face, respectively rear, concave or convex forward, respectively rearward, and the teeth of the second series having their rear face, respectively before, plane.
In a particular embodiment, when the device is observed in its axis, two consecutive individual elements have free ends that diverge. Alternatively, when the device is observed in its axis, two consecutive individual elements have converging free ends. In a further variant, when the device is observed in its axis, two consecutive individual elements have free ends that intersect or are substantially parallel. Thus, the free ends of the individual elements of the same row can point in the same direction. When the device is observed in its axis, at least three consecutive individual elements may have free ends that are aligned.
The projecting elements are advantageously made by molding of material plastic in one piece with the base.
The device may comprise two parts made with a film hinge and assembled against each other.
The base is preferably of substantially elongate shape and the projecting elements preferably extend along the base.
The row of consecutive individual elements preferably extends along the base.
The base preferably has a uniform cross section over at least a part of its length.
The base may have a cross section in the form of a regular or irregular polygon, with one or more sides of the plane or non-planar base, for example concave or convex.
The projecting elements may have a free edge which is serrated or serrated, the slots or teeth being arranged to grip the eyelashes between them.
The height of the projecting elements may be between 0.5 and 15 mm and preferably between 7 and 13 mm.
The height of the individual elements can be variable.
The height of the individual elements can be between 0.5 and 15 mm.
The device according to the invention, when it is used as an application element, advantageously comprises a tapered nose facilitating re-entry into the container. This nose may or may not have projecting elements.
The invention further relates to a packaging and application device comprising a container for containing a product reserve, a wiper member and an applicator comprising a rod provided at one end with a device as mentioned above, used to the application.
The applicator element may be constituted by an insert on the rod of the applicator.
The applicator element may alternatively be made by plastic molding integrally with the applicator shaft.
The applicator element can be made by molding plastics material in one piece with the applicator rod and with a sealing member intended to ensure a tight closure of the container in the absence of use, this sealing member have a shaped surface to fit tightly into a neck of the container.
It is preferable that the base is made of an elastomeric material and the rod in a rigid or semi-rigid plastic material, the base being overmolded on the rod or attached thereto.
Achieving the base and the projecting elements in an elastomeric material can facilitate the crossing of the wiper member.
The comfort of use can also be increased.
Alternatively, the rod of the applicator may be made of a plastic material less hard than that used to achieve the application element. It is thus possible to use, for manufacturing reasons, for example a relatively hard material for producing the application element and to compensate for the hardness of the application element at the time of application by the flexibility of the rod.
The applicator member may be removably attached to a distal end portion of the shaft.
The longitudinal axis of the applicator element may extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rod or may extend at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the rod, and in particular be perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stem.
The wiper member is preferably deformable and may comprise, for example, a foam block or an elastomeric lip.
The base, of polygonal section or not, can have firm and stable faces. Preferably, the base is made in the form of a single piece made in one piece, advantageously by molding.
Such a solid, unitary structure can prevent the eyelashes from passing through the base and reaching the longitudinal axis of the base.
Such an embodiment contrasts with conventional mascara applicators which have bristles extending radially from an axial twisted core, for example.
The application element may be devoid of twisted core.
The projecting elements may extend from the base from locations remote from the longitudinal axis of the base.
The invention also relates to the use of such a device for the makeup of eyelashes or eyebrows.
The invention thus further relates to a method for applying a product to the eyelashes, comprising the steps of providing an application element as defined above, to charge at least a portion of the applicator element with produced and bringing at least a portion of the applicator element into contact with the eyelashes, so that the product is deposited on the eyelashes.
The applicator element can be loaded into product by insertion into a container containing the product, followed by extraction, the excess product being removed from the protruding elements.
Alternatively, the applicator member may be loaded into product by dispensing the product from a container or by bringing the applicator element into contact with a product loaf. In the latter case, this product bread may be moistened or the application element wetted and brought into contact with the solid bread.
When the product comprises fibers, the method further comprises the step of orienting the fibers by means of the applicator element so that the fibers are substantially parallel to the eyelashes when the product is applied. This alignment of the fibers preferably results from a funnel effect produced by the teeth or teeth of the protruding elements or by the spacing between individual elements.

In the example described, the elements of each row are inclined at their base at least by a non-zero angle with respect to a radial plane extending from the center of the base and passing substantially through the base of the elements of the row. concerned.
As a nonlimiting example of elements extending in the same direction of rotation, we can cite certain types of water wheels and refer to the way the vanes are arranged on them.
When the wheel rotates at a given angle, a first blade is substantially at the same location as the position occupied by a previous blade, the first blade being directed substantially in the same direction as the second blade at this location.
When the applicator is removed from the
The fact that the elements of the
In addition, the eyelashes can be applied tangentially on the
It is thus possible to create a relatively large contact area between the applicator element and the eyelashes.
A.The application can be easily restarted without having to go back the applicator in the
At the moment when the eyelashes come into contact with the base, they can gradually engage as shown between the elements of the
It is understood that according to the manner of positioning the applicator with respect to the eyelashes and according to the orientation of the elements around the axis of the base, the direction of rotation and the displacement of the applicator during the application, we can get different effects.
The sides of the base may be flat or non-planar, for example concave or convex, the rows of individual elements being located substantially in line with the corresponding sides of the base.

The individual elements of a row may be shifted at least partially alternately on either side of a geometric separation surface.
This alternating disposition of the teeth makes it possible to constitute product reserves between three consecutive teeth while allowing the product to be smoothed on the eyelashes thanks to the
Alternatively, the bases of the teeth may be substantially aligned and the teeth have upper portions extending from the bases, alternately offset on either side of a geometric separation surface.
The row of elements may comprise a mixture of hair and teeth or teeth or bristles of different shapes.
When the product applied to the eyelashes is likely to harden quickly, may be preferable to use a row of teeth at least partially offset alternately on either side of a geometric separation surface, with deeper than wide bases.
La profondeur b des dents est mesurée perpendiculairement à l'axe Z de l'embase et leur largeur e est mesurée parallèlement à l'axe Z.The depth b of the teeth is measured perpendicularly to the Z axis of the base and their width e is measured parallel to the Z axis.
The interval c between two

The depth b of the
Preferably, the ratio of the gap separating two adjacent teeth on the same side of the geometric separation surface to the width of the tooth disposed on the opposite side of the geometric separation surface between the two adjacent teeth is between 0.2 and about 2, the aforesaid gap and width being preferably measured substantially mid-height of the teeth.
Thanks to their relatively deep base, the

Dans l'exemple de réalisation décrit, la distance d est de l'ordre de 2 mm, la hauteur totale des dents étant de l'ordre de 3 mm.In the embodiment described, the distance d is of the order of 2 mm, the total height of the teeth being of the order of 3 mm.
It is understood that by varying the length of the teeth, the distance d and the interval c, one can easily act on the amount of product that the application element is loaded.
In addition, the spacing between the teeth of the same series of teeth, that is to say the

Two successive teeth form between them notches allowing the applicator element to grip the eyelashes, while the offset upper parts of the teeth form between them cavities for constituting product reserves on the applicator element.
It is thus possible both to benefit from a substantial amount of product on the application element and to grip the eyelashes, which is favorable for obtaining a quality makeup.
By varying the spacing of the teeth, the product reserves are modified on the application element.

The consecutive individual elements of each row have substantially contiguous portions at their corners.
The individual elements of each row also have free end portions arranged alternately on either side of a geometric separation surface.

However, the projecting elements connecting to the base 443 each comprise a row of consecutive individual elements which do not have parts arranged alternately on either side of a geometric separation surface.
In the example considered, the elements of each row 445a-445c are substantially aligned along the length of the
The

By modifying the depth of the teeth or crenellations of the free edge of the projecting element, it is possible to act on the proximity of the eyelashes and the base during the application of the product. Thus, by forming relatively deep teeth or slots in the free edge of the protruding member, the eyelashes can be brought relatively close to the base during application.
The projecting members or rows of individual members may also have hollow portions with an opening on one side of the member, providing access to the hollow portion. These hollow portions can be filled with product thus allowing the applicator to contain an even greater amount of product to be applied to the eyelashes.
The application element may have a surface that increases the amount of product with which the application element is loaded.
A projecting element, or even a row of individual elements and / or the base may include capillary grooves or flocking, over all or part of their surface.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described and it is possible in particular to combine the particularities of embodiment of the various examples which have just been described.
The projecting elements or the individual elements may have a height which varies as a function of the axial positioning on the application element, for example an increasing, decreasing, decreasing and then increasing or increasing and then decreasing height, from the front to the back.
The protruding elements, in particular the teeth or bristles, may undergo a surface treatment by abrasion, for example to form forks at the end of the teeth or bristles.
The projecting elements or the individual elements may undergo a heat treatment to round for example their tip, or even form a ball at their free end. The projecting elements or the individual elements thus become less aggressive vis-à-vis the eyelashes.
All or part of the application element may be covered with a coating such as a varnish for example, to give a better glide on the eyelashes or on the contrary more roughness.
A slip-improving material may also be, alternatively, or additionally, added to the material used to make the application member.
The application element, and in particular the projecting elements, may also comprise active agents such as preservatives, moisture absorbers, metal salts, in particular of copper, magnetic particles and other suitable similar materials, intended to be released. in the product when it is loaded onto the application element. These assets can be either included in the material used to make the application element, or be deposited as a coating on the application element, or both.
In addition, products can be used to change the surface tension of the application member in contact with moisture.
These products can be incorporated into the material of the application element or deposited in the form of a coating.
The device according to the invention is preferably made by plastic injection, but alternatively it is possible to use material forming processes by compression, stamping or bar turning.
The base may comprise notches or reliefs arranged to contain the product.
The projecting elements may be made of a material different from that used to make the base or a part of the application element on which they are arranged.
Preferably, the length of a row of consecutive individual elements is between about 10 and 45 mm, preferably about 15 and 28 mm, and more preferably about 20 and 26 mm.
The height of the protruding elements is preferably between about 0.5 and 15 mm and more preferably between about 7 and 3 mm.
The number of individual elements per row is preferably between 6 and 50 mm, preferably between 10 and 35 mm, and more preferably between 15 and 32 approximately.
