  2. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterised in that the device is activatable irrespective of the direction of rotation of the limiting wheel (18).
  3. Apparatus according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the braking device (26) comprises an electrically actuatable braking part (28) as well as a braking surface (40) which co-operates with the braking part (28).
  4. Apparatus according to Claim 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that the braking device (26) is in the form of a disk brake.
  5. Apparatus according to Claim 3 or 4, characterised in that the braking surface (40) is arranged directly on the limiting wheel (18).
  6. Apparatus according to Claim 3 or 4, characterised in that the braking surface (40) is arranged on a separate brake disc (36).
  7. Apparatus according to Claim 6, characterised in that the brake disc (36) is detachably connectable to the limiting wheel (18).
  8. Apparatus according to Claim 6, characterised in that the braking part (28) is detachably connectable to the limiting wheel (18).
  9. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the braking device (26) is able to be released or applied electromagnetically.
  10. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 3 to 9, characterised in that the braking part (28) and the braking surface (40) form a first, non-rotatable part and a second, freely rotatable part.
  11. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 3 to 9, characterised in that the braking part (28) and the braking surface (40) form a first part rotatable through a fixed angle of rotation and a second, freely rotatable part.
  12. Apparatus according to Claim 11, characterised in that the fixed angle of rotation is adjustable.
  13. Apparatus according to Claim 11 or 12, characterised in that the braking device (26) comprises a restorable stop (61, 62) against which the first part can be placed when rotated.
  14. Apparatus according to Claim 13, characterised in that the restorable stop is in the form of a wire spring (63).
  15. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 3 to 14, characterised in that the braking part (28) and the braking surface (40) are arranged to be movable relative to one another along an air gap (44).
  16. Apparatus according to Claim 15, characterised in that the size of the air gap (44) is adjustable.
  17. Apparatus according to Claim 16, characterised in that the air gap (44) is adjustable by means of at least one movable stop (48, 49, 50).
  18. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the released position and/or the applied position of the braking device (26) is/are detectable.
  19. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterised in that the released position and/or the applied position of the braking device (26) is/are detectable by means of a sensor (50).
  20. Apparatus according to Claim 17, characterised in than an electric connection of the stop (50) bounding the air gap (44) to the movable part (28) of the braking device (26) is detectable electrically.
  21. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 3 to 20, characterised in that the braking part (28) and/or the braking surface (40) is/are arranged concentrically around a bearing spindle (14) carrying the limiting wheel (18).
