Definitions
- the invention relates to a transfer film with glass elements for applying a plurality of glass elements to a textile substrate, wherein the elements are detachably connected at their front in the form of a pattern with a carrier film and provided on its flat back with a hot melt adhesive comprising adhesive layer.
- the glass elements used in known products are consistently mirrored on their back, for example, by vapor deposition with an aluminum layer, which may be covered by a protective layer of chrome. Between the mirroring and the per se transparent hot melt adhesive is an opaque primer for adhesion between the hot melt adhesive and the protective layer.
- the known glass elements can be individually ironed on. If a pattern is to be formed with the stones, however, it is customary to connect the stones in the form of this pattern on the front side with a carrier foil.
- Such devices for applying patterns, in particular of ground glass pieces, to textiles have long been known (cf. AT 360 627 B ).
- Essential for their manufacturing process is the coating of the decorative elements with a hot melt adhesive.
- the elements are mounted on a carrier tape and coated by means of a coating roller together with liquid hot melt adhesive. After cooling of the adhesive, the stones are individually manipulated and can be pattern-connected with a carrier film.
- the carrier film After removing a protective film covering the adhesive surfaces during transport, the carrier film, together with the elements attached to it, is placed on the base in such a way that the rear side of the elements provided with the adhesive bears against the base.
- the adhesive By applying heat and pressure, usually by ironing, the adhesive is activated and bonded to the backing.
- the optical properties of the applied pattern are determined exclusively by the glass elements.
- the invention enables combination effects between the color of the textile substrate and the refractive properties or the color of the glass elements, by providing that the back of the elements and the adhesive layer are transparent.
- Transparent glass backs will also fade in during setup US 4,438,165 connected by a transparent adhesive layer to a substrate. At this However, it is a transparent glass, which as well as the stones is viewed in the transmitted light from a distance, whereas the present invention decorated textiles are considered from close up in reflected light.
- hot melt glass elements Starting from the known, provided with hot melt glass elements according to the invention initially omit the mirroring. In particular, then make sure that the entire adhesive layer is transparent. Not only must a transparent hotmelt adhesive be used for this purpose, as is familiar to the person skilled in the art in the form of copolyamides, but above all the presently customary primer, which hitherto has determined the color of the rear side of the glass elements, must be replaced by a transparent material. Since the adhesion mediation no longer takes place between a metal and the hotmelt adhesive, but between the glass element itself and the hotmelt adhesive, silicon organic compounds are recommended as such primer.
- the invention not only allows an interaction between the color of the textile substrate and the refraction effects of the glass element, but also between the color of the substrate and the color of the elements. These may consist of colored glass for this purpose in the usual way or be provided with a selectively absorbing metallic layer.
- a particular advantage of the invention which is defined by a carrier film with the features of claim 1, lies in the fact that the coating of the elements with interference-generating dielectric layers is substantially more effective by the omission of the mirror coating according to the invention at the back of the glass elements.
- the appearance of the glass blocks is characterized by a combination of reflection colors of the coating of the glass element with the color of the substrate, which undergoes changes in the transmission through the glass element changes through the coating (color mixing of substrate and transmission colors of the coating) and by refraction in the glass element ,
- the visual appearance of the glass element also varies not only with the color of the substrate, but also with the viewing angle, which is a specific property of the coating acting on the interference principle.
- Today's coatings consist of alternating lambda / 4 layers of TiO 2 or SiO 2 .
- the color quality can be improved and new color tones can be generated if the condition is abandoned that all layers must have a thickness of lambda / 4 of a common reference wavelength.
- the illustrated device for transferring decorative patterns to a base corresponds to the state of the art insofar as a multiplicity of glass elements 1 are connected to a carrier film 2.
- the carrier film 2 may consist of polyester and be coated with a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- This consists essentially of a hot melt adhesive, wherein an extremely thin layer of a suitable organosilicon compound is provided for bonding between this and the glass.
- a protective film 4 protects the adhesive layers 3 during transport. It is peeled off before applying the pattern on a textile backing 5, then the glass elements 1 are connected to the pad by applying heat and pressure and the carrier sheet 2 is peeled off, whereby a pattern example according to Fig. 2 arises.
- the adhesive layer 3 also retains the glass elements 1 when a garment adhered thereto is treated in a washing machine up to temperatures of 60 ° C.
- New to the illustrated glass elements 1 is mainly the fact that the back is not mirrored. Although this reduces the intensity of the reflected portion of incident light, but on the other hand makes it possible to bring the color of the textile substrate 5 through the glass elements 1 to advantage.
- the invention makes it possible to use coating techniques known per se for coloring the glass elements 1. If, in this sense, alternating thin layers (usually TiO 2 and SiO 2 ) are applied to the surface of the stones, the glass elements are colored much more intensively in plan view as in the presence of a mirrored back.

Description
In diesem zeigt
-
Fig. 1 eine schematische Seitenansicht der erfindungsgemäßen Einrichtung, -
Fig. 2 eine entsprechende Draufsicht.
Fig. 2 entsteht.
