Description

The invention relates to a device for gluing the Outside surfaces of in a book block hanging machine in book covers Book blocks to be hung, consisting of two in one Gluing area opposite, each on an outer surface one on a saddle plate moved vertically upwards of a rotating conveyor unrolling moving book blocks Applicator rollers, a glue applicator, the for gluing in the fold area of a book block one for Have axis of rotation parallel shoulder forming recess whose Rotational position according to the position of a particular fold shape the book block passing through the gluing area is adjustable, the conveyor of the saddle plates and the Rotational motion of the application rollers is synchronized with the drive are.

The setting of the glue application rollers to the book block in one Book block hanger is so far with a considerable Time spent and possible with the machine stopped. there the drive of the glue application rollers must be disconnected from the main drive, around that formed by the recess on the glue application roller Shoulder on the fold area or fold angle of one a saddle plate moved into the appropriate position Align book blocks.

According to DE - B - 37 13 896, this disadvantage is to be remedied in that a position indicator is arranged above the glue application rollers, to which the so-called folding angle of a book block is to be aligned at the same height, this alignment position of the book block forming the reference zero position of the conveyor to which the front edge of the recess of a glue application roller or the shoulder is to be adjusted. Thereafter, the drive of the glue application rollers is to be brought into line with a position point analogous to the shoulder on the rollers in accordance with a reference zero point of the conveyor.
This may result in a better setting result and shorter set-up times, but the disadvantages mentioned above have not yet been eliminated.

The present invention breaks new ground and has the task provided at a facility of the type mentioned to take constructive measures with which to align the glue application rollers to the book block both qualitatively and can be significantly improved quantitatively.

According to the invention, the object is achieved in that in the drive connection between the conveyor and application rollers, a traction mechanism is arranged for the continuous change of the relative position between the saddle plates and the rotational position of the application rollers.
This means that the setting process between the conveyed book block and the glue application rollers can be carried out and changed quickly and easily, even while the machine is running.
This no longer requires uncoupling from the main drive shaft.

In an advantageous further embodiment of the invention The traction mechanism is set up by a device revolving traction device - such as a chain or toothed belt - with the conveyor on the one hand and the application rollers on the other connected to the drive, which is a simple installation measure also proves with an existing machine concept.

In a preferred embodiment, the drive resp. Output shafts of the conveyor and the application rollers rotating Traction means two sections, each one stationary pair of two laterally spaced rollers Deflected pulleys and one between the pulleys of the Pair of rollers, with these forming an open loop section, on a slide adjustable in a guide arrangement freely rotatably mounted control roller are circulating.

Alternatively, the drive or. Output shafts of the conveyor and the application rollers rotating traction means are formed by two sections, each of which forms an open loop section around a deflection roller which is fixedly mounted between two laterally spaced control rollers of a pair of rollers, and which is guided in a freely rotatable manner on a pair of rollers which can be adjusted in a guide arrangement.
The two embodiments of the traction means guide do not differ in their effect, whereas the latter embodiment requires a slide which is larger in terms of size.

In addition, it would be possible to use the roller pairs as with one Complement the pulley system with additional rollers so that the adjustment process the slider can be adjusted further reduced could.

The slide is advantageously vertical in the guide arrangement to one running through the axes of rotation of a pair of rollers Level adjustable so that symmetrical relationships arise.

It is useful to simplify the attachment trained to accommodate the slide guide assembly connected to a frame of the book block hanging machine.

The slide can be connected to the drive by hand or with a controllable motor be, the drive mechanically or by a linear drive can take place.

It proves to be advantageous if the slide on the respectively. Side facing away from a motor or roller manually driven spindle has screwed threaded bushes, making it compact and easily accessible can arise.

Fig. 1 zeigt weiterhin die konstante Lage der Sattelplatten 5 auf der Bewegungsbahn, wo sie eine zumindest annähernd horizontale obere Kante 7 aufweisen.1 and 2 represent a device covered by the invention 1 a book block hanging machine for gluing the Outer surfaces 2 of a book block 3. Arrow F mediates in Fig. 1 shows the direction of movement of several on a rotating conveyor 4 fixed saddle plates 5, one with the former Form paternoster-like conveyor 6. Fig. 1 also shows the constant position of the saddle plates 5 on the movement path, where they have an at least approximately horizontal upper edge 7.

The conveyor 6 is driven by a chain wheel 9 attached to a drive shaft 8. The book blocks 3 are directed with the open front downward according to arrow B in FIG. 1 via a block divider which spreads the book block in the middle into a receiving position of the conveyor 6 brought where the saddle plates 5 take over from below into the slightly spread book blocks 3. Thereafter, the book blocks 3 astride the saddle plates 5 pass through a glue application device 10 in the vertical direction upwards, whereupon a book cover fed from one side is rubbed against the glued outer surfaces 2 or at the end of a book block 3. According to FIG. 1, two application rollers 11, 12 forming the glue application device 10 are driven via an intermediate shaft 13 connected to the drive shaft 8 of the conveyor 6 by means of a traction means 14 of an adjustable traction mechanism transmission 15 shown as a black box and subsequently to be described.
The glue application device 10 selected as an example in FIG. 2 essentially consists of the application rollers 11, 12 and a metering roller 16, 17 which is respectively assigned to them and partially immersed in the liquid glue in a glue pool 25 and which is profiled on the circumference. The direction of rotation of the application rollers 11, 12 and the metering rollers 16, 17 is indicated by arrows. Likewise, the direction of movement of the book block 3 astride a saddle plate 5. The application rollers 11, 12 as well as the metering rollers 16, 17 have a circular-cylindrical circumferential surface over most of their circumference. The axes of the different rollers are arranged offset and form a wedge 18 for a metered amount of glue 19 in the area of their closest approach. The two rollers 11, 16 and 12, 17 pass through a rolling zone 20 from top to bottom, where the metering roller 16, 17 the application roller 11, 12 is supplied with a certain glue thickness on the surface. The amount of glue applied can be determined by the distance between the rollers 11, 16 and 12, 17. The application rollers 11, 12 transfer the glue carried along to the outer surfaces 2 of a book block 7, which comes into contact with the application rollers 11, 12 from bottom to top at the point approximately opposite the rolling zone 20. So that a desired glueing occurs in particular in the fold or fold area 21 of the book block 3, a recess 22 is provided in the application roller 11, 12, which is so deep that a shoulder 27 formed by the rear end in the direction of rotation causes the fold 23 of the book block 3 can accommodate. Accordingly, on the metering roller 16, 17 a complementary to the recess 22 is formed projection 24 which, when the rollers 11, 16 or. 12, 17 dips into the recess 22 when it is in the rolling zone 20. The projection 24 ensures that the amount of glue 19 located in the roller wedge 18 is retained during the passage through the rolling zone 20 and the surface of the recess 22 receives the glue application necessary for the correct gluing of the fold 23. The recess 22 and the projection 24 each run parallel to the axes of the rollers 11, 16 and 12, 17 perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, with a constant profile. This design of the application roller 11, 12 and metering roller 16, 17 is part of the prior art and serves to explain, by way of example, the mode of operation of a glue application device 10, as shown in a simplified manner in FIG. 1, in a glue pool 25. Due to the special arrangement between the conveyor 6 and the glue application device 10 within a book block hanging machine, the drive connection between the conveyor 6 and the glue application device 10 has a drive gear 26 with the intermediate shaft 13, between which and the drive shaft 8 the already mentioned adjustable traction mechanism 15 is arranged. The drive connection between the drive shaft 8 of the conveyor 6 and a drive wheel 28 of the rollers 11, 12, 16, 17 takes place via traction means 14 and 29, for example chains or toothed belts, of which traction means 14 are provided for driving the adjustable traction mechanism transmission 15.
The rounding of a book block spine influences the shape of the fold and the retention of the spine shape even while using a book. The curvature of a book block can be selected according to its thickness and, when it is pressed, creates a certain fold on both sides, which must then be glued using a pair of application rollers. It is therefore of particular importance that the application rollers can be optimally adapted to different fold shapes of the book blocks 3 to be hung. Rounding and pressing is described in more detail in the book "Industrielle Buchbinderei", Liebau / Heinze, Verlag Beruf + Schule, Itzehoe or other specialist literature.
3 and 4 show a possible embodiment of a traction mechanism gear 15 connected to the drive connection between the conveyor 6 and the glue application device 10 (see FIG. 1). A toothed belt wheel 30 seated on the drive shaft 8 of the conveyor 6 is partially wrapped around by the traction means 14 and also drive-connected to a toothed belt wheel 61 fastened to the intermediate shaft 13. The shafts 8 and 13 divide the traction means 14 into two sections 31, 32, each of which is assigned a stationary pair of rollers comprising laterally spaced deflection rollers 33, 34 and 35, 36 and an adjustable control roller 37, 38 arranged between them. Between the deflection 33 to 36 resp. Control rollers, 37, 38 form the sections 31, 32 of the traction means 14 opposite open loop sections 39, 40, the length of which changes due to the adjustable control rollers 37, 38, respectively.
By changing the length of the sections 31, 32 of the traction means 14, a stepless phase shift can be carried out between the clock-bound drive shaft 8 and the intermediate shaft 13, which allows an optimal adjustment and readjustment of the shoulder 27 on the fold 23 during the run. Explained on the basis of the directional arrows A, B in FIG. 3, when the slide 42 is actuated by the threaded spindle 47 in the direction X +, the traction element section 31 is lengthened or the traction element section 32 is shortened, which results in a negative phase shift under the rotation angles on the intermediate shaft 13 and the drive shaft 8 causes. An actuation of the slide 42 in the opposite direction X- creates a positive phase shift between the drive shaft 8 and the intermediate shaft 13.
A phase shift could also be realized with electrical shafts on the drive shaft and / or intermediate shaft, which currently seems to be uneconomical.
Of course, in the device according to the invention, the traction means sections 31, 32 could also be guided over the outer circumferential section of the deflection rollers 33 to 36, so that the loop sections formed by the control rollers 37, 38 have open ends facing away from one another, which means that the control rollers 37, 38 closer, the pairs of rollers are further apart. All rollers 33 to 38 are freely rotatable, the deflection rollers 33 to 36 on a plate 41 which is fixedly connected to the frame (not visible) of the book block inserting machine, and the control rollers 37, 38 on a plate perpendicular to one through the axes of a pair of deflection rollers 33, 34 or 35, 36 extending plane movable slide 42 are mounted. On the side of the plate 41 facing away from the rollers 33 to 38, two parallel guide rods 43, which are arranged on both sides of the longitudinal central axis of the slide 42 and on which the slide 42 is moved, are attached. For this purpose, the slide 42 has two supports 62, which each have a bearing 44 and pass through the plate 41 at a recess 44 and forms a driver 46, in which a threaded spindle 47 projects, which at the other end has a chain wheel 49 which is connected to a geared motor 48. The threaded spindle 47 is mounted in a support 50 fastened to the plate 41, the gear motor 48 is fastened to a holder 51 connected to the plate 41. For setting resp. Tensioning the traction means 14 designed as a toothed belt, the control rollers 36, 37 are each mounted on clamping plates 52, 53 which can be displaced and locked in the direction of movement of the slide 42. For this purpose, the control rollers 37, 38 are fastened to a bearing journal 55 which is fastened to the clamping plate 52, 53 by means of a screw 54 and on which two grooved ball bearings 56 are provided for mounting the toothed belt wheel 37, 38. The toothed belt 14 is tensioned by a tensioning screw 57, which is in contact with the head on the inner end face of the tensioning plate 52, 53 in the direction of movement and is adjustably screwed in a beam 58 fastened to the slide 42 between the tensioning plates 52, 53. The clamping plates 52, 53 each have four guide slots 59, which are penetrated by a locking screw 60 fastened in the slide 42 and provided with a washer under the screw head.

38, 38 'assigned to a traction element section and on the adjustable slide 42 and the other one each traction element section between a pair of control rollers 37, 37 'and 38, 38' arranged with the latter an open Loop section forming deflection roller 33, 34, the outside of the slider 42 is freely rotatable on the machine frame are. As a clamping device are as in the version according to 3 and 4 clamping plates 52, 53 with guide slots 59 on the slider 42 adjustably attached to which the control roller pairs 37, 37 '; 38, 38 'are stored.
