Definitions

  • the invention relates to a snap lock for a sliding door or the like, a machine paneling or the like, preferably reinforced on at least one side with a sheet metal bend or a rectangular high profile, with a handle pivotally mounted on the reinforced side of the sliding door, which cooperates with a locking latch device, and with a on or in a door frame or on or in a profile limiting or opening an opening in the machine cladding arranged behind handle device for receiving the latch bolt when the door is closed.
  • Such snap closures are already known to the applicant.
  • a disadvantage of the arrangement known to him is, among other things, that a latch handle is usually used to open the snap lock, which has to be pivoted to open, whereupon the tumbler is released and the sliding door can be pushed open by further pressing against the latch handle.
  • This handle has the one disadvantage that you can get caught on it with clothing, which is intolerable in dangerous situations.
  • Another disadvantage is that due to the pivoting process, the handle is inclined with respect to the sliding direction and thereby the pressure force to be applied to the handle increases and the hand also tends to slide off the handle when it is tilted.
  • a third disadvantage is the unsightly appearance of such a handle.
  • the object of the invention is to improve a snap lock of the type mentioned in such a way that the above-described disadvantage as possible be completely avoided.
  • the handle comprises a pivot axis (rotations, the ends of which are each received in a rod holder) at the ends around a pivot axis running parallel to the reinforced side of the door leaf, behind the door leaf or within the sheet metal bend or the hollow profile, and that at least one of the two rod holders is coupled to a hook which is mounted coaxially with the pivot axis and which is free-running and which forms the locking latch.
  • This construction on the one hand ensures that there is no hook-shaped handle on which a user can get caught with his clothes. Furthermore, it is achieved that the orientation of the handle with respect to the direction of movement of the sliding door for the operating hand does not change during the pivoting process, because the handle does not twist with respect to this direction, but rather is pivoted and displaced essentially parallel to the door leaf in this direction. The operator thus acts perpendicular to the handle extension. There is no danger that the hand will slide off the handle.
  • the handle also has a more aesthetic shape and allows an overall greater force to be exerted on the sliding door in order to move it.
  • the snap lock according to the invention enables numerous further developments, each of which has its own advantages.
  • the rod holder in the area of its storage is a two-pronged fork, between whose two prongs the hook is mounted. This gives a tilt-free and particularly stable and smooth-running storage and facilitates the operation of the snap lock, both with automatic latch-like locking when closing the door, as well as when releasing and then opening the lock to open the door.
  • the fork web between the two fork tines is provided with two stop surfaces to limit the pivoting movement of the hook. This enables the operator to determine whether the tumbler has been released by opening it up to a certain stop point, so that the sliding door can then be opened.
