Die Steuereinrichtung 6 kann neben einem Mikroprozessor µP optional auch eine anwenderspezifische Schaltung ASIC für die Kommunikation mit Sensoren und Aktoren der Maschinenbasis (EP 716 398 A2), ein Sicherheitsmodul SiMo (EP 789 333 A2) und andere Mittel, ggf. zur Verbesserung der Datensicherheit (DE 196 50 993 A1), enthalten.
Die Datenzentrale besitzt Modems 33, die mit einem Server 32 verbunden sind, welcher auf eine Datenbank 31 zugreift, wenn eine entsprechende Anforderung empfangen wird. Bei bedarfsweiser Betätigung einer Taste 45 der Tastatur 42 der Waage 22 wird über die Steuerleitung 245 die Baugruppe 20 umgeschaltet und das Laden der Portotariftabellendaten aus der Datenzentrale ausgelöst. Die Waage 22 kann nun das Modem 23 der Frankiermaschine zur Kommunikation mit der Datenzentrale direkt benutzen, wenn das Modem 23 über die Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe 20 via Kabel 24 mit der Waage 22 verbunden ist, was in der Fig.1a gezeigt ist.
Im Unterschied zum Postbearbeitungssystem nach EP 724 141 A1 muß beim erfindungsgemäßen System nun nicht jedesmal beim Einschalten der Maschine mit einer langen Kommunikation mit einem entfernten Server und mit einem während der Kommunikation erfolgenden Umstellungsvorgang gerechnet werden. Vielmehr kann nun die betätigte Auslösetaste der Waage ein on-demand-Laden der zukünftig gültigen Tabelle zu einem ersten Zeitpunkt vorab eines zweiten Zeitpunktes für den Aktualisierungs-/Umstellungsvorgang auslösen. Der Umstellungsvorgang selbst bleibt vom Benutzer unbemerkt, weil er zeitlich versetzt und entkoppelt vom on-demand-Laden sowie automatisch am Umstellungstag und dabei relativ schnell abläuft.
Die Figur 1b zeigt ein Blockschaltbild einer Portorechner-Waage, welche über eine serielle Schnittstelle mit der Frankiermaschine verbunden ist. An die RS-232-Schnittstelle 25 der Waage 22 ist ein Ein/Ausgabe-Port 26 angeschlossen, welches mit dem internen BUS 43 mit dem Prozessor 27 der Waage 22 in Verbindung steht. Ein solcher BUS schließt Daten-, Adreß- und Steuerleitungen ein.
Im Normalbetrieb ist vorgesehen, daß der Waage-Prozessor auf einen zweiten Bereich 16-02 des Speichers des Portorechners mit den gültigen Tariftabellen zugreift.
Weiterhin ist vorgesehen, daß das Laden von neuen Tariftabellendaten in einen ersten Bereich 16-01 des Speichers des Portorechners und das Laden von einem zugehörigen Umstellungsdatum in einen dritten Bereich 16-03 des Speichers des Portorechners und optional das laden einer Information in einen vierten Bereich 16-04 erfolgt, wobei die Information in Zusammenhang mit einer Dienstleistung des Beförderers oder der Datenzentrale steht. Die Waage enthält einen Uhr/Datum- bzw. Kalenderbaustein 48 und übermittelt automatisch mindestens einmal, beispielsweise jeweils beim erstmaligem Einschalten am Anfang des Tages, das aktuell gültige Tagesdatum zum Portorechner. Im Portorechner wird das übermittelte Tagesdatum mit dem vorgenannten Umstellungsdatum verglichen. Das automatische Aktualisieren unterbleibt, wenn das Tagesdatum kleiner als das Umstellungsdatum ist. Das automatische Aktualisieren wird vorgenommen wird, wenn das Tagesdatum größer oder gleich dem Umstellungsdatum ist.
Die Erfindung sieht vor, daß der Portorechner in der Waage ein selektives Löschen von Speicherbereichen in der Waage vor dem Laden von komprimierten neuen Tariftabellendaten vornimmt. Der Portorechner führt dann zu einem zweiten Zeitpunkt eine Aktualisierung der Tariftabellendaten, ggf. verbunden mit einer Dekomprimierung der geladenen neuen Tariftabellendaten und mit einem Einschreiben von der dekomprimierten Daten durch, wobei Tariftabellendaten aus dem ersten Speicherbereich dekomprimiert und in den zweiten Speicherbereich 16-02 der Waage eingespeichert werden. Das ermöglicht es, daß das automatische Aktualisieren zu einem beliebig späteren Umstellungsdatum unabhängig und zeitlich entkoppelt von dem vorgenannten Laden erfolgen kann.
Im Blockschaltbild gemäß Figur 5a ist eine externe Porto-PC- und Umschalter-Baugruppe 20', 22' im Schaltzustand Tariftabellenladen dargestellt. In letzterem Fall ist das Modem 23' mit einem Porto-PC 22' verbunden. Der Porto-PC 22' kann die Umschalter-Baugruppe 20' in den vorgenannten Schaltzustand Tariftabellenladen oder in den anderen Schaltzustand Portoguthabennachladen umschalten.

- Anordnung zum Tariftabellenladen, mit einer Umschalter-Baugruppe (20, 20'), die einerseits zwischen einem Meter (10) einer Frankiermaschine und einem Modem (23, 23') und andererseits zwischen einem Portorechner (22') einer externen Waage (22) und dem Modem (23, 23') geschaltet ist sowie mit einer Steuerleitung (245), um die Umschalter-Baugruppe (20, 20') anzusteuern, so daß das Modem und der Portorechner zwecks Tariftabellenladen funktionell direkt miteinander verbunden sind.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20) innerhalb der Frankiermaschine (1) angeordnet ist.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Umschalter-Baugruppe (20) einerseits zwischen einer Modem-Schnittstelle (401) und Waage-Schnittstelle (402) eines Ein/Ausgabe-Steuermoduls (4) einer Frankiermaschine und andererseits zwischen der Schnittstelle eines Portorechners der Waage (22) geschaltet ist, wobei die Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20) Mittel (201, 202, 203) zum von der Waage (22) gesteuertem Umschalten auf einen separaten Modus zum Tariftabellenladen aufweist und wobei der Portorechner und das Modem (23) während des Tariftabellenladens funktionell direkt miteinander verbunden sind.
- Anordnung, nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jeweils eine Gruppe an vier Leitungen einerseits über die Treiber der Modem-Schnittstelle (401) via Leitungen (214) sowie andererseits über die Treiber der Waage-Schnittstelle 402 des Ein/Ausgabe-Steuermoduls (4) der Frankiermaschine via Leitungen (224) an die jeweilige Kontaktgruppe (201) bzw. (202) eines Umschalters (204) der Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20, 20') angeschlossen sind und daß die Kontaktgruppe (201) oder (202) an die Schnittstelle eines Portorechners geschaltet ist.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß über die RS-232-Schnittstelle (25) der Waage (22) die Steuerleitung Modem enable (245) mit einem Treiber (203) der Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20) zwecks deren Umschaltung verbindet, wobei nach der Umschaltung über das Kabel (24) die Kommunikation mit einem Übertragen der Waage/Modem-Daten auf den Leitungen (246) durchgeführt wird.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Leitungen (246) eine TXD-Sendeleitung, eine RXD-Empfangsleitung, eine DTR-Empfangsbereitschaftsleitung und eine DSR-Sendebereitschaftsleitung umfassen.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Treiber (203) entsprechend ausgebildet ist, auf ein Signal auf der Steuerleitung Modem enable (245) zu reagieren, um das Laden von neuen Tariftabellendaten zu einem benutzerdefinierten ersten Zeitpunkt durch den Portorechner zu veranlassen, wenn eine Taste (45) der Waage (22) betätigt wurde, wobei das Aktualisieren von neuen Tariftabellendaten zu einem vom jeweiligen Postbeförderer definierten zweiten Zeitpunkt automatisch durch den Portorechner erfolgt.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß in einem ersten Bereich (16-01) des Speichers des Portorechners Speicherplatz für zu ladendende neue Tariftabellendaten, daß in einem zweiten Bereich (16-02) des Speichers des Portorechners Speicherplatz für die momentanen Tariftabellendaten vorgesehen ist und daß Speicherplatz für das Laden von einem zugehörigen Umstellungsdatum in einen dritten Bereich (16-03) des Speichers des Portorechners und das optional Speicherplatz für das Laden einer Information in einen vierten Bereich (16-04) vorgesehen ist, wobei die Information in Zusammenhang mit einer Dienstleistung des Beförderers oder der Datenzentrale steht.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 7, gekennzeichnet dadurch, daß der Portorechner programmiert ist, automatisch das aktuell gültige Datum von einem Kalenderbaustein (48) anzufordern, um das Aktualisieren von neuen Tariftabellendaten zu dem zweiten Zeitpunkt durchzuführen.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20') extern von der Frankiermaschine (1) angeordnet ist.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20') zwischen einen externen Portorechnermodul (22') bzw. -Waage (22) und ein Meter (10) der Frankiermaschine (1) geschaltet ist.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Umschalter-Baugruppe (20') mit einem externen Modem (23') zu einer Docking-Station kombiniert wird.
- Anordnung, nach Anspruch 10, gekennzeichnet dadurch, daß Modem-Umschalter-Baugruppe (20') und ein Portorechner (22') miteinander kombiniert und im System separat von der Frankiermaschine (1) oder Waage (22) angeordnet sind und mit letzteren schnittstellenmäßig verbunden ist.
