Definitions
- the invention relates to a homogenizer for homogenizing flowable materials, with a rotor and a stator, the teeth concentric with each other with axially extending Have teeth, with radial rotor teeth is arranged outside an internal stator toothing.
- Homogenizers are among others in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical and food industries for manufacturing of creams, ointments, pastes, mayonnaises and similar products used. They are usually at the bottom of a mixing container arranged in which the substances are mixed and homogenized become.
- the homogenizer is often used as a rotor-stator dispersing machine trained, but can also be a so-called Circulating agitator to achieve a better pumping effect his.
- a generic homogenizer is, for example, from the Writings DE 195 37 303 A1 and EP 0 290 033 A1 are known.
- Homogenizers usually work at high speeds. If hard foreign bodies in the mixture to be processed, in particular Metal parts are included, these can be from the homogenizer be sucked in and damage or destroy it. This is particularly problematic when in the Product to be manufactured powder, pigments or other solids should be mixed in, as these are often metallic Foreign bodies included. It is also possible that in the mixing plant loosen screws, nuts and the like and fall into the homogenizer.
- the rotor is toothed, that between an internal stator toothing and a outer stator teeth runs. This creates the risk that foreign bodies striking the rotor into the inner stator toothing and destroy the machine to lead.
- a homogenizer is disclosed in document EP 0 290 033 A, of the two stator gears and two rotor gears having. These are each axially extending Teeth formed. Radially within the inner stator toothing a conventional rotor toothing is arranged. You all come just a pump and mix function too. Protection of the radial stator gearing behind it is against foreign bodies not provided.
- a rotary mixer is completely different Design described. It rotates in its housing rotor designed as a centrifugal wheel. Outside on the centrifugal wheel is a wire mesh extending in the axial direction arranged. At a short distance from the rotor with the Wire mesh is another wire mesh in the housing arranged fixed. They are also considerable in the housing Distance from the wire mesh a plurality fixed blades arranged. A rotor or stator toothing the rotary mixer does not have. A special Protection against foreign bodies is not provided.
- the invention solves this problem in that in a homogenizer of the type mentioned at the rotor a separate Protective toothing is provided which is radially inside of the first stator toothing is arranged and in the axial direction seen at least two, preferably at least three, one above the other arranged openings separated by webs, their clear width to be kept to the minimum size Foreign body is adapted and is in the range of 1 to 5 mm.
- the homogenizer has one rotor and one Stator on which rotates relative to each other can be moved.
- the stator is preferably stationary and the rotor is rotatable, but this is within the scope of the invention not mandatory. Possibly. the stator (e.g. counter-rotating to the rotor). The only thing that matters is that rotor and stator rotate relative to each other can to the homogenization and described in more detail below To achieve dispersing effect.
- the rotor and stator have teeth which are concentric with one another.
- toothing denotes any openings in a wall of the rotor or stator running in the circumferential direction, through which the material to be mixed passes outward in the radial direction in the operation of the homogenizer.
- Such teeth can have individual openings in an otherwise closed, circumferential wall.
- the toothing is formed by a plurality of axially extending teeth arranged on a peripheral section of the rotor or stator, which teeth have baffle surfaces for the material to be homogenized.
- the latter embodiment is required in claim 1 for the rotor or a stator gear.
- the terms "axial” and “radial” are used in the claims and the description, the axial direction is always defined by the axis of rotation of the rotor.
- the technical effect of the concentric gears is the following: that in the usually axial inlet of the homogenizer incoming mix is from the radial innermost rotor teeth detected and at a peripheral speed according to the peripheral speed of this Gearing applied. Supported by the centrifugal force (if necessary through separate pump blades in the rotor or the pumping action the toothing surfaces) the material is thrown outwards and hits the with high kinetic energy then the following stator teeth. The kinetic energy of the Good things are transformed into dispersing effects. Radially outside from this first stator toothing further rotor and connect stator gears if necessary.
- the homogenizer can exert its dispersing effect, he needs at least one rotor and one stator toothing, which are arranged concentrically to each other, as well as a separate one Protect teeth. According to the invention, however, are preferred Homogenizers, each two (possibly also several) Have rotor and stator teeth.
- the protective toothing points in the axial direction in each case at least two, preferably at least three, one above the other has arranged openings.
- the essence of the invention lies radially within the first Stator toothing to provide a separate protective toothing. This prevents foreign objects from over a certain one critical size leave the rotor and thus into the area the critical rotor and stator junctions and finally get into the following stator gear and cause damage there.
- This is achieved through a special training of the protective toothing by their Openings through webs in several superimposed, smaller openings can be divided. The dimensions of this Openings are dimensioned so that they have a clear width have in the range of 1 to 5 mm. It has been shown that thus the penetration of critical foreign bodies into the Seen in the direction of flow, stator or rotor toothing arranged behind it can be prevented. That way you can Damage caused by foreign bodies that are too large and too heavy be avoided.
- This protective toothing prevents that in the homogenizer Foreign bodies entering radially outward onto the first stator toothing be thrown and the homogenizer to destroy.
- the foreign bodies are removed from the protective toothing caught and remain in the rotor, they can be cleaned of the homogenizer can be removed.
- the clear width of the openings this protective toothing must not be larger than that minimal size of possible foreign bodies whose passage through the interlocking rotor / stator gears one want to prevent.
- the largest clear width of the openings of the Protective toothing is in the range 1 to 5 mm, preferably 2 up to 4 mm. It is usually sufficient to use the light To be dimensioned so that metallic foreign bodies from the Size of a screw or nut of thread size M3 still on Be prevented from entering.
- the protective toothing according to the invention surprisingly brings about not a reduction in performance, on the contrary an increase in performance of the homogenizer.
- the openings of the protective toothing contain wall sections running in the axial direction or Wall surfaces.
- the openings of the protective teeth be rectangular, with two opposite sides of the rectangle run in the axial direction.
- This in the axial direction running wall surfaces can be with the first stator teeth include an angle that is between 0 and 90 °, preferably between 0 and 60 °, more preferably between 0 and is 40 °.
- An angle of 0 ° means that at a corresponding Rotary position of the rotor and stator to each other Walls of protective toothing and first stator toothing aligned, i.e. lie in one plane.
- the intermeshing rotor and stator teeth have depending on the size of the homogenizer axial height of a few centimeters or more.
- a particularly good dispersing effect is obtained and delivery rate of a homogenizer according to the invention, when facing each axial row of openings the rows adjacent in the circumferential direction of the protective toothing is arranged offset from openings in the axial direction.
- the axial displacement is preferably an amount that half the sum of the axial clear width of an opening and axial thickness of a two openings in the axial direction Corresponds to web. This means that the Separator between two axially arranged openings at the axial height of the center of an opening in Circumferential direction runs adjacent row of openings (see also Fig. 3).
- the homogenizer according to the invention has one with a hub 2 provided shaft 1 by one in the drawing Drive, not shown, is driven. With wave 1 a rotor 3 is rotatably connected. The rotor 3 has two rotor teeth 4 and 5 concentric with each other. at the inner rotor toothing 4 is the one according to the invention Protect teeth. With the homogenizer housing 6 the stator is connected, the two concentric to each other Stator teeth 7, 8 has. One connected to the stator Stator cover 9 covers the rotor 3 on its outer circumference from and simultaneously forms the inlet designated 10 of the homogenizer.
- the homogenizer housing 6 On the outer periphery of the homogenizer housing 6 is a to the homogenizer shaft 1 concentric channel 11 arranged the Process of the homogenizer forms. It is with a drain nozzle 12 connected.
- the homogenizer according to the invention is in an opening on the bottom one used at 13 arranged mixing container.
- annular channel 14 is provided, which the drain 11 with the Product space of the mixing container 13 connects.
- Outlet 11 of the homogenizer At low pressure in Outlet 11 of the homogenizer is the sealing ring 16 sealing and the material to be homogenized is conveyed through the nozzle 12.
- FIG. 2 It can be seen in Fig. 2 that radially inward from the first, i.e. radially innermost stator 7 the inventive Protective toothing 4 is arranged.
- This gearing is formed as a ring, into which (e.g. by means of a laser) Openings of the desired size are cut.
- All further Gears, d. H. the stator teeth 7, 8 and radially outer teeth 5, however, are formed by rows of axially extending individual teeth, such as can be seen from the synopsis of FIGS. 1 and 2.
- Out Fig. 3 can be seen that each adjacent axial rows of openings 19 of the protective toothing 4 offset in the axial direction are arranged to each other (see, for example, those with 20 and 21 designated rows). This staggered arrangement of the rows of openings is preferred according to the invention, but not absolutely necessary.
- Fig. 2 it can be seen that the axially extending wall surfaces 22 of the rotor teeth 5 and 23, 24 of the stator teeth 7, 8 run exactly in the radial direction, i.e. parallel to the axial plane indicated at 25.
- these wall surfaces 22, 23, 24 also relative to the radial direction be inclined to a higher pumping and / or dispersing effect to achieve.
- the wall surfaces 26 running in the axial direction are the protective toothing 4 with respect to the radial direction (or Axial plane) arranged inclined by an angle a indicated at 27.
- the following table shows the increase in performance achieved by the protective toothing according to the invention compared to a conventional homogenizer which has no facilities for protection against foreign body entry.
- the experiments were carried out with concentrated aqueous sorbitol solution (70% by weight sorbitol, 30% by weight water).
- the table shows the factors that are relevant the delivery rate of a homogenizer according to the invention different operating conditions compared to a conventional one Homogenizer (shown in Fig. 4) increased.
- the conventional one Homogenizer has no protective teeth on which Pump vane 18 closes the first one radially on the outside Stator teeth 7 on. You can see that on average the output increased by about a third.
