Abstract

1443415 Mixing devices SILVERSON MACHINES Ltd 13 July 1973 [13 July 1972] 32842/72 Heading BIC A mixing device comprises a rotor element 1 and a stator element 3 the rotor being constituted by a plurality of radially extending blades 5 secured to one end of a shaft 7 which is couplable to the output shaft of a motor 9. The stator is formed by end flange members 13 axially spaced apart and between which an annular cylindrical member 15 is located concentric with the rotor element 1. The member 15 is provided with a plurality of apertures 21 and at least one larger aperture 23 which extend through the wall of the member 15, the area of the aperture 23 is approximately 10 times the area of each one of the holes 21. An alternative annular stator member 31 is shown in Fig. 3 having apertures of alternative configuration i.e. square, and two corresponding rectilinear larger apertures 35. In operation the rotor element 1 is rotated within the stator 3 and material into which the mixer is immersed is drawn through an opening in the lower flange member 13 and forced out through the apertures to breakup the material and cause a mixing circulation. The larger apertures prevent clogging-up of the mixing unit.
