Definitions

  • the invention relates to a screw nut of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 for clamping the rim of a vehicle wheel on an externally threaded end of a shaft of a balancing machine.
  • a quick release nut of the type in question is known, which is used in particular for fastening a vehicle wheel on the clamping shaft of a balancing machine. It has a housing on which diametrically opposed radially directed handles are arranged. Radially movable two thread segments are arranged in the housing and are biased radially inwards by a spring up to an engagement position for the thread. The thread segments can be moved manually by actuating means radially outwards against the spring force into a disengagement position.
  • This known quick release nut is used in such a way that first the vehicle wheel to be balanced is pushed with its central hole onto the shaft of the balancing machine. Then the screw nut with the threaded segments disengaged is pushed axially onto the shaft of the balancing machine, after which the actuating means for disengaging the threaded segments are relieved, so that the threaded segments are brought into engagement position by the spring, in which the internal thread of the threaded segments with the external thread the end of the wave of balancing machine are engaged. Then the quick release nut is turned using the handles attached to the housing until the rim of the vehicle wheel is tightened. This screwing over a relatively long span must be done with respect to not insignificant forces, so that the screwing is tedious.
