Definitions
- the invention relates to an internal combustion engine with a crankcase, in which a crankshaft is rotatably mounted, at least a connecting rod carrying a piston is articulated, the Piston in one of a cylinder head to form a work space covered cylinder is movable and being in the crankcase at least one recess is let into the one Oil pump and a coolant pump can be used, the one behind the other arranged by a common drive wheel are driven into a common recess, wherein the recess in an apron of the crankcase as a continuous Inlet opening and one side to a front of the Crankcase is aligned.
- crankcase described in this document has in particular, channels integrated into the crankcase for guidance of lubricating oil and cooling water including the corresponding oil pump and coolant pump.
- Such as the necessary ones Heat exchanger on the oil circuit and the coolant circuit is not the subject of this Patent application.
- the invention has for its object an internal combustion engine to provide, in the arrangement and assembly of attachments is improved.
- a coolant thermostat housing is mounted on the crankcase, wherein the coolant thermostat housing a heat exchanger inlet connection and a heat exchanger return connection with integrated thermostatic valve and a heating flow connection and has a heating return connection. So that is at one single component all the necessary external connection options integrated for the coolant circuit, so that here a clear Installation possibility is created.
- the coolant thermostat housing mounted across the opening on the crankcase.
- the corresponding connections are on the long side of the Internal combustion engine accessible and from the area of the wheel drive pulled out.
- the drive wheel is on the end face arranged outside the opening and the oil pump and the coolant pump are connected to the drive wheel in this order arranged in the opening. This makes it possible to necessary media guides to or from the pumps in the Arrange crankcase while the drive is accessible outside the opening is arranged.
- the oil pump and coolant pump are also included the drive wheel pre-assembled and as a unit to the Internal combustion engine attached.
- the unit can possibly be as Supplier part to be manufactured and complete during assembly line assembly be grown. Because only one for both pumps the only component used is the total assembly time shortened.
- the housing parts of Oil pump and coolant pump made of aluminum, preferably manufactured in the die casting process. This represents a manufacturing inexpensive form of training. Of course it is within the framework the invention also possible, here other materials and casting processes apply.
- the coolant pump wheel covered by a lid covering the opening on the drive wheel closes opposite side. This is in the maintenance or Repair case the coolant pump wheel and an adjacent one Ring seal without extensive disassembly of the complete Coolant pump and oil pump easily accessible and can be changed if necessary.
- the partially illustrated crankcase 1 is for a four-cylinder, self-igniting series internal combustion engine designed and instructed another main bearing 2 for mounting a crankshaft, not shown on.
- the crankcase has one on the flywheel side Apron 3, which is designed as a bulge and among others for receiving an oil pump 4 and a coolant pump 5 serves. These two pumps are driven by a drive wheel 6 (FIG 2) via an idler gear from the crankshaft on the flywheel side the internal combustion engine driven.
- the openings below of the two pumps in the crankcase can, for example, under other balance shafts.
- the oil pump 4 and the coolant pump 5 can be preassembled as a structural unit and this assembly is completely in the opening 7 ( Figure 2) the crankcase 1 inserted and fixed with fasteners 8.
- This housing part 12 has a ring shoulder 13 which cooperating with a shoulder 14 in the opening 7 a contact surface for the unit 9 forms. Against this investment area the assembly 9 pressed with the fasteners 8.
- the coolant pump 5 On the housing part 12 connects the coolant pump 5, which has an annular seal 15 in the area of the shaft 10 relative to the housing part 12 is sealed. The coolant pump 5 is compared to the The outside 16 of the apron 3 is closed off by a cover 17.
- a suction pipe 18 is the oil from the oil pan of the internal combustion engine sucked in and gets into a suction chamber 19 of the oil pump 4.
- Von the suction chamber 19 the oil from the gears 4a, 4b in one Pressure chamber 20 promoted and passes from this into a pressure oil channel 21.
- This pressure oil channel 21 guides the oil through an oil gallery, the among other things control devices, filter devices and the like includes, in the oil circuit of the internal combustion engine.
- Over a Leakage oil line 22 is leakage oil from a leakage space 23 in the Housing part 12 guided into the wheel drive chamber or suction chamber 19.
- a coolant leakage space 25 On the leakage space 23 connects an oil seal 24, on the opposite Page is a coolant leakage space 25. From this coolant leakage space 25, the leakage liquid into a gutter that is in line with the environment in Connection is established, but the majority of the trapped Leakage liquid evaporates in this channel.
- the coolant thermostat housing 26 a heat exchanger reflux connection 27, the communicates with the suction chamber of the coolant pump 5.
- the cooling liquid which is in the water is preferred in a coolant pressure chamber 28 promoted, which opens into a coolant pressure channel 29. Of The cooling liquid becomes further in this cooling liquid pressure channel 29 passed to the cooling points of the internal combustion engine.
- the coolant thermostat housing has 26 next to the heat exchanger reflux connection 27 a heat exchanger inflow connection 30 on that with the heat exchanger reflux connection 27 is connected via a thermostatic valve 31. Furthermore points the coolant thermostat housing 26 has a heater flow connection 32 and a heater return port 33.
