Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a depilatory device capable of being held by hand and intended to depilate with the least possible pain sensation the human body hair considered superfluous for aesthetic or other considerations.
  • a family of known epilators is based on a roller movable in rotation about an axis arranged behind a window at one end of the housing, this roller having one or more rows of clamps.
  • Each row of clamps is formed of a first series of parallel blades side-by-side movable, inserted in a second series, or fixed disks, or blades also movable, a clamp being constituted by a blade of the first series associated with the adjacent disk or blade of the second series.
  • control means for successively bringing the movable blades to tighten against each other, or against the adjacent disk, to pinch the hairs to tear, then to deviate to allow the evacuation of torn hairs before the introduction of the following hairs between the blades.
  • the clamps close close to the skin by tightening the bristles which are then driven and torn off by further rotation of the roller.
  • These blades pinch and pull hairs randomly, not necessarily close to the root, making a hair can undergo several pulls before being torn off. These successive pulls and pulling excite the nerve endings close to the hair bulbs and are the cause of pain felt during hair removal.
  • the patent EP 467 733 (SEB ) describes an epilator of the aforementioned type having on its roll brushes with tufts of bristles. The ends of these hairs can protrude slightly beyond a cylinder inscribed on the pinching edges of the disks and blades. These bristles are designed to be stiff enough to produce a straightening effect of the depilatory hairs, without being too stiff not to irritate the skin.
  • the document EP 671 136 discloses another epilator of this type, wherein the blades are adjacent, on one side to a smooth surface in a cylinder portion coaxial with the axis of rotation of the roller, and on the other side to an elongated recessed area extending parallel to the alignment of the blades, this zone being itself adjacent to another smooth surface in a cylindrical portion diametrically opposite the first.
  • These cylinder portions define between them a virtual roll coaxial protection cylinder preventing the skin from entering the clamps.
  • the hollow zone comprises a series of brushes designed to straighten the coated hairs by contact with the smooth surfaces and thus improve the grip of these hairs by the clamps.
  • This hollow zone further comprises, near one of the sides of the blades, a series of pins parallel to the brushes and whose vertices are located on the virtual protective cylinder. These pins prevent the hair removal roller jumping on the skin at the passage of the recessed area and produce on the skin a massage effect complementary to the brushing reducing the pain due to the pulling of the hair. There is nevertheless a real need for an even more effective pain-relieving device in order to make this operation less unpleasant.
  • the document EP 760 219 (MATSUCHITA ) describes a number of epilators with vibrating painkillers, either in the form of a vibrating comb carried by the housing, or in the form of additional vibrating rollers with pins or stiff bristles also carried by the housing next to the hair removal roller. .
  • PHILIPS The document WO 97/19613 (PHILIPS ) discloses an epilator comprising a series of relatively hard elastomeric material percussion pins, assembled in the manner of a comb or a hand, and mounted vibrating on the housing.
  • the flexibility of the protuberances is such that they penetrate the skin to provide an anesthetic effect, but yield and fold when the epilator passes over a bone area.
  • BRAUN The document WO 97/00032 (BRAUN ) describes an epilator whose rotating roller comprises a series of mobile weights pushed radially outwards by the centrifugal force and / or springs to hit the skin and cause pulses to mask the pain of hair removal. This construction is however also complicated, so expensive to achieve, and there is a risk of blocking weights.
  • a pain device comprises elements fixedly mounted on the rotating roller and having one or more protuberances intended to strike the skin, the protuberances being rounded or substantially rounded and obliquely present at the end. skin.
  • the apparatus has a single protuberance on the same circular periphery, the protuberances forming a row which is parallel to the axis of the roll.
  • the patent application EP0795283 A1 ( FR 96.03177 (SEB )) describes a plurality of epilators equipped with pain relief device.
  • the hair removal roller is itself mounted in a vibrating stirrup.
  • the roller comprises radially movable flyweights.
  • the roller comprises lever-shaped weights pivotally mounted on the hair removal roller so that their ends strike the skin radially.
  • the epilator comprises a stirrup surrounding the roller and mounted vibrating on the housing.
  • the purpose of the present invention is an epilator comprising a hair removal roller rotated by a motor around an axis arranged behind a window of the housing, this roller comprising one or more rows of gripping blades, control means for successively bringing the blades to tighten against each other to pinch the hairs to be pulled out and then to move away, the anti-pain device is effective, simple structure, reliable and economical to achieve.
  • the pain-relieving device comprises elements fixedly mounted on the rotating roller, having one or more protrusions protruding beyond the virtual cylinder coaxial with the roller in which are inscribed the pinch edges of blades, each protuberance being inclined and or rounded in the plane transverse to the axis of rotation of the roller passing through the fixed element being arranged so that the portion of the protrusion coming to hit the skin is oblique to the skin and performs a massage by a contact, a penetration into the skin and a gradual release, the rounding of the protuberance being convex, is symmetrical or asymmetrical in its transverse plane, the protuberances being rounded or substantially rounded, the anti-pain elements being rigid or semi-rigid.
  • the pain-relieving elements are in the form of protuberances formed on the circular periphery of intermediate disks inscribed in the virtual cylinder or on the circular periphery of the lateral flanges of the roll.
  • roller coaxial cylinder in which the pinch edges of the blades are inscribed constitutes a kind of virtual protective cylinder because rollers are also inscribed in this cylinder, either in the form of angularly offset angular shells. relative to the blades, either in the form of a series of perforated transverse disks at the blades, these smooth parts resting on the skin avoiding that it is caught by the clamps.
  • the protuberance In the plane transverse to the axis of rotation, the protuberance has a generally convex section formed of a continuous curve, for example an arc of a circle, or is formed of a succession of progressive ray arcs or rectilinear portions.
  • the angle of attack of the protuberance namely at the area intersecting the virtual protective cylinder, is less than 60 ° or less than 45 °.
  • the prominence is low, for example less than 0.2 mm, it is possible to envisage a higher angle of attack and a rounding of the upper edge more pronounced.
  • larger is the protrusion plus it is advantageous to have a low angle of attack and an upper edge to rounded weak.
  • the elements are fixed on the roll, their action is coupled with that of pinching the blades.
  • the frequency of pain-relieving effects is identical to that of depilation.
  • the first harmonic of the frequency of the pain-relieving effect remains identical to the first harmonic of the frequency of hair removal which then corresponds to the speed of rotation of the roller.
  • the base of the lower portion and / or the rounding of a protrusion may be located below the roll coaxial cylinder in which the blade nip edges are inscribed.
  • the rounding of the protrusion is preferably convex, symmetrical in its transverse or asymmetrical plane, that is to say that this rounding may have a larger portion downstream or upstream, as seen with respect to direction of rotation of the roll.
  • this transverse rounding profile it is possible to refine the characteristics of the mechanical pulses applied to the skin, that is to say that the pulse begins abruptly or progressively with a more or less strong starting slope, to obtain such or other type of pain better suited to the configuration of hair removal blades.
  • a series of pain-relieving elements may be arranged on the roller in an elongate zone substantially covering the length of the roller, these elements being distributed, either along a rectilinear or slightly helical line, or in staggered rows, this zone being angular, offset by a row of clamping blades, preferably upstream of the row, as seen with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller .
  • the anti-pain elements may be attached to a part of the roll, or made in one piece with this piece.
  • the first variant makes it possible to envisage removable elements allowing, in addition, a subsequent replacement of a broken element or the exchange for other removable elements whose protuberances produce different massage effects.
  • the "monoblock” variant offers a possibility of realization at low cost, in particular by simply modifying the mold cavity of a part obtained by injection of plastic material.
  • the pain control elements are rigid to effectively stimulate the nerve endings of the skin. It can also be envisaged that these elements are semi-rigid, that is to say, bending only from a predetermined constraint to avoid bruising a firmer zone of the body, especially a bone region, covered only by skin, such as the tibia, elbow or knee. Only part, including support, can be flexible to provide this semi-rigidity.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be in the form of a radial plate or of an insert bar parallel to the axis of rotation between the lateral flanges of the roll, the outer edge of the plate or of the bar protruding beyond virtual cylinder being rectilinear, corrugated or toothed, the cross section of this edge being rounded.
  • This embodiment does not form part of the invention but represents elements of the state of the art which are useful for the understanding of the invention.
  • the plates or pain bars can then be made as interchangeable individual parts that are assembled in the roll or at the choice of the user.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be in the form of protuberances formed on the circular periphery of intermediate disks inscribed in the cylinder passing through the blade nip edges or on the circular periphery of the lateral flanges of the roller.
  • advantage is taken of intermediate transverse discs materializing the virtual protective cylinder for arranging adequate areas of the pain-relieving elements.
  • Another advantage lies in the fact that a greater number of pain-relieving elements can be arranged all along the circular periphery than the number of rows of pliers. This makes it possible to optimize the frequency of the pain-relieving effect.
  • the pain-relieving elements can be arranged in a non-regular manner to produce a particular pain-frequency effect profile.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be in the form of protuberances formed on the leading edge or the trailing edge of a pinch blade. The pain-relieving effect is then brought about practically at the very moment of the pulling of the hairs.
  • This embodiment does not form part of the invention but represents elements of the state of the art which are useful for the understanding of the invention.
  • the roll comprises a one-piece body comprising a series of fixed parallel discs and a double series of movable clamping blades, the series being diametrically opposed and arranged between the discs.
  • the one-piece body has, in addition, two diametrically opposed grooves in a plane perpendicular to that passing through the two series of blades. In these grooves can be installed rods, forming in particular support bases brushes.
  • each row of clamps is formed of a first series of side-by-side parallel blades, integral with a movable central walkman, and interposed in a second series of blades secured to a cage surrounding the walkman coaxially.
  • this cage is composed of a plurality of axial rod-bases whose ends are fixed on both sides at regular intervals on the periphery of two lateral flanges bordering the roller, the radially inner face of the bases having grooves of retention of the base of the blades.
  • the outer faces of these bases bear long brushes.
  • roller comprises peripheral bases parallel to the axis of the roll as mentioned above, it has proved particularly advantageous to simply also mount the pain relief elements according to the invention along the face. external of these bases.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be a series of spikes individually reported on the base, spikes whose ends form rounded protuberances exceeding the virtual cylinder.
  • pins may be inserts positioned in the mold before manufacturing a base by plastic injection.
  • the molded bases may have a row of orifices in which are then simply inserted in force pins.
  • These pins can then advantageously be rigidly made of polished metal, especially aluminum or stainless steel chemically inert with the skin.
  • these pins may also be made of a relatively hard elastomeric material, for example a silicone rubber.
  • the anti-pain elements may be one or more series of protuberances attached to, or integral with, a base embedded in the base, either in the middle or at the edge of the base. If necessary, this base can be removable.
  • the above embodiment is further simplified by making the series of pins integral with a base, which is attached and fixed on the base.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be one or more inverted U-shaped links reported on a base, the upper bar of the U being rectilinear and protruding beyond the virtual cylinder, or being able to be corrugated or toothed with only their protruding upper parts. beyond the virtual cylinder.
  • the rod has, in one piece, a series of protuberances from hitting / massaging the skin to cause the anti-pain effect.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be protrusions made in one piece with the external face of a base.

  • one or more pain-relieving elements mentioned above are fixedly mounted on a base near brushes for straightening the depilatory hairs.
  • Pain relievers may be aligned or laterally offset from the tuft of bristles composing a brush. It is possible to envisage a simple combination of a brush and a row of pain-relieving elements, the brush being mounted either downstream or upstream of the row of elements as seen with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, or a more elaborate association, a pair of brushes surrounding a row of elements or a row of elements surrounding a brush, for example.
  • a synergy is thus obtained between the pain-relieving elements also performing a combing function to align the bristles in advance or immediately following a straightening brushing of the bristles, which are then better grasped by the hair removal clips.
  • the effectiveness of this massage-combing action is ensured by the fact that the rounded tops of the pain-relieving elements remain in contact with the skin for a substantially longer time than the brushes.
  • the pain-relieving elements may be tufts of bristles bonded together by gluing or welding. In this way, pain-relieving elements are obtained simply by modifying existing brush bases.
