Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for returning Exhaust gas and to preheat the exhaust gas purifier Internal combustion engine, wherein an exhaust gas stream and a Air flow for preheating using a valve device being controlled.
- Valves in the gas lines.
- the Intake and exhaust systems are via pipes connected with each other.
- the exhaust system comes with a Air source connected to the fresh air for preheating the Exhaust gas purifier delivers.
- the whole device is heavy and expensive; the maintenance and assembly work is great.
- the object of the invention is a device for Recirculation of exhaust gas and for preheating an exhaust gas cleaner to show off that is light, cheaply made and simple can be assembled.
- Valve device is arranged in a housing, which has three outlets, each with a first outlet of the valve device with a second or the second with a third is connectable that the first outlet to Connection to the intake system of the internal combustion engine is formed that the second outlet for connection to the Exhaust system of the internal combustion engine is formed and that the third outlet for connection to an air source is trained.
- This arrangement is very easy and compact, since all parts in one housing are accommodated and redundant components are eliminated.
- a first advantageous embodiment of the invention exists in that the housing has three chambers, one first chamber with a second and the second with one third chamber is connected.
- the valve device has two valves by means of which each of the two connections the chambers can be closed. Goes from the first chamber the first outlet, from the second chamber the second and from from the third chamber the third exit.
- the two valves are separately adjustable.
- a second advantageous embodiment of the invention provides before that the valve device has a valve body, by twisting the first with the second Outlet or connects the second to the third outlet and which is sealed against the housing wall so that each always a departure from the two with each other associated outgoers is separated.
- the valve body in one position tightly closes one of the three outlets and the two separates other outlets.
- the valve body in one position all outlets are tightly sealed.
- valve device by means of a single actuator is adjustable. Saving the usual second actuator used makes the arrangement easier and cheaper.
- An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the housing can be flanged to the internal combustion engine is. This eliminates the need for long connecting lines and the assembly is simplified.
- the actuator can be operated pneumatically.
- pressure cans are used.
- the Valve device requires considerable actuating forces and that Operating temperature is high.
- Pressure actuators are well suited for this because they are cheap and robust.
- some applications of the invention can also be advantageous if the actuator can be operated electrically is. Electrical actuators have the advantage that they are faster and allow intermediate positions.
- the actuator by means of the pressure in the Intake system of the internal combustion engine is operable, since there is therefore a separate power supply for the actuator can be omitted.
- Such an actuator operated by a control valve can be controlled so that the intake system is decoupled from the switching processes of the actuator.
- Control valve, the air source and the actuator too Units are combined and if necessary in same housing as the valves are arranged.
- the device by a control unit of the internal combustion engine is controlled.
- the control of certain operating parameters of the internal combustion engine be dependent to always operate as cheaply as possible to reach.
- control units on internal combustion engines often open electronic switching can be a switching relay that is connected downstream of the control unit, be advantageous.
- the Switching relay switches the control valve and possibly also the air source.
- the Invention provided the device by a Check valve in the exhaust system of the Protect internal combustion engine. This will prevents hot exhaust gas from being under high pressure provided parts of the device flows back and this damaged.
- a development of the invention provides a sensor that the position of the actuator or the valve device records. This allows the device according to the invention easily into an automatic fault diagnosis system include. It is also a prerequisite for Controllability of the valve device meets what also is a development of the invention. In this case preferably the use of an electrical actuator intended. The controllability of the valve device brings great advantages regarding the dynamic behavior of the Internal combustion engine.
- the position of the Valve device is adjustable.
- the thermodynamic sizes of gas flows and that fluid-mechanical behavior of the valve device found elsewhere and so by a control device processes that, on the other hand, the desired controlled variable, such as for example the mass flow, indirectly via the position the valve device is adjustable.
- the outlet openings or the connection holes of the valve device are contoured, it can also be used with a limited resolution of the Position sensor a very precise control behavior realize.
- the contouring of the openings becomes like this designed that the gradient of the mass flow with the Opening degree of the valve becomes larger. With little open Valve, the mass flow is very small; the flow in Valve is very sensitive to changes in cross-section. When the valve is wide open, the mass flow is large; the Flow is less against changes in cross-section sensitive. That is why the finite dissolution of the Position sensor, depending on the degree of opening of the valve, different levels. Contouring the Outlet openings or the connection holes is therefore advantageous.
- the valve device 6 consists of a housing 7 with three chambers 8; 9; 10.
- a first chamber 8 has a first outlet 11, which is designed for connection to the intake system 2, a second chamber 9, a second outlet 12 to the exhaust system 3 and a third chamber 10, the third outlet 13 to the air source 14.
- the two valves 15; 16 of the valve device 6, which are adjustable by an actuator 17 and the connecting holes 26; 27 between the chambers 8; 9; 10 close in idle state.
- actuator 17 is operated by means of the differential pressure between intake manifold pressure p i and ambient pressure p env .
- the control valve 18 is shown, which is controlled by a control unit 19.
- the control unit 19 also controls the air source 14.
- the actuator 17 is pressurized via the control valve 18 and the valves 15; 16 are adjusted.
- Fig. 1 shows the first embodiment in the state of Quiet. Both valves 15; 16 are closed.
- the control valve 18 is controlled by the control device 19 in such a way that the actuator 17 opens the intake air-side valve 15. Part of the exhaust gas 20 flows into the intake system 2 due to its high pressure p e , mixes there with the inflowing intake air 21 and is passed through by the internal combustion engine 1 a second time.
- the air source 14 is closed by the fresh air-side valve 16.
- intermediate positions are necessary, which in the exemplary embodiment are achieved by clocked activation of the control valve 18.
- the signal 22 required for this is symbolized in the illustration as an example. When using an electrically operated actuator 17, such intermediate positions can also be set directly.
- the control valve 18 is omitted in the case.
- Fig. 3 shows the operation of the same embodiment with fresh air supply for heating the exhaust gas purifier 4.
- the control valve 18 is controlled by the control unit 19 so that the actuator 17 opens the fresh air side valve 15.
- the air source 14 is in operation and conveys fresh air 23 to the valve device 6.
- the fresh air 23 flows under the pressure p a of the air source 14 into the exhaust system and mixes there with the exhaust gas.
- the internal combustion engine 1 is operated with a rich mixture. As a result, there is a high proportion of unburned fuel in the exhaust gas 20. Due to the high temperature of the exhaust gas 20, the exhaust gas / fresh air mixture ignites and the remaining fuel parts burn. The heat released thereby heats the exhaust gas cleaner 4 very quickly and the exhaust gas 20 is cleaned.
- the cleaned exhaust gas 24 is provided with its own reference number.
- a switching relay 25 is also shown in the figures, that is connected downstream of the control unit.
- the control unit switches the switching relay 25 and controls it Control valve and the air source.
- Fig. 4 shows the valve device 6 in an embodiment as Rotary slide valve.
- a rotary valve 31 and a Sealing web 32 against the housing 7 and against the shaft 33 of the rotary valve 31 seals, arranged so that the three Outlets 11, 12 and 13 in the manner described above are interconnectable.
- At the junctions of the three Outlets 11, 12, 13 on the housing 7 are three contoured Outlet openings 34, 35, 36 by the rotary valve 31st are swept over and a defined cross section release, depending on the angular position of the rotary valve 31.
- Position II stands for the closed state.
- Position III corresponds to that Operation with exhaust gas recirculation.
- Such a rotary slide valve is preferably closed with an electric actuator operate because only with this intermediate positions are sufficiently precise can be approached.
- valve device 6 shows another embodiment of the valve device 6 shown. It is also a Rotary slide valve, the sealing web 32 by a Head plate 37 was replaced. The three slide positions for completely open or closed outlets 34, 35, 36 again marked with I, II, and III. The exit 36 for the Fresh air supply must be in position with hole 36 'in the Head plate 37 of the rotary valve come to cover. In this example, the three outlets 34, 35 and 36 are not contoured.
- Fig. 6 shows an exploded view of the Rotary slide valve from FIG. 5.
