Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for crimping of metal lugs on electric wires to insulating sheath, one end of which has been previously stripped according to the definition given in the preamble of claim 1.
- mini-applicators which are mounted on crimping presses conventional with the sole fixed to the fixed table of the press and the tool holder attached to the slide or nose of the hurry.
- mini-applicators allow the manufacturing in series of metal lugs semi-automatically, a worker placing the wires one by one on the front anvil press operation.
- the entire device "mini-applicator” is changed with each change of manufacturing. So, for each pod model and for each model or wire diameter, it is necessary to disassemble all of the previous mini-applicator and reassemble on the press a new mini-applicator whose crimping imprints correspond to terminal models and crimp wire.
- the invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by proposing the same crimping device able to carry out manufacturing - particularly in series - of different models of metal lugs. So, the invention aims to propose a crimping device which is not dedicated to a single pod model and a single wire model and therefore does not have to be dismantled each time change of manufacturing, in particular with each model of wire.
- the invention also aims to provide a crimping device with which the change of wire model can be automated, i.e. made automatically by a robot, or performed by the operator of the press, without requiring the intervention of a specialized maintenance mechanic.
- the invention also aims to reduce the investment cost required for crimping a pod model on wires of different diameters and models, both with regard to the cost of tooling itself than the cost necessary for its storage and handling.
- the invention also aims to avoid delicate handling and losses due to errors in handling.
- the invention relates to a crimping device as mentioned above, and which is characterized by the characterizing part of claim 1.
- At least one block of matrix support (s) and at least one support block anvil (s) - and preferably each of these blocks - forming a set of crimping tools for crimping of a pod model are associated with each other in a autonomous assembly, called cassette, adapted so that these blocks can be assembled and disassembled together with respect to the tool holder and the sole.
- the matrix support block (s) and anvil support block (s) are associated with each other by two columns assembly, adapted to allow their movements translation translational in the direction of approximation of crimping impressions, but limiting their movements relative translation in the direction of spacing at a value greater than or equal to that of their spacing maximum when attached to the tool holder and sole.
- the removable rigid fixing means of each anvil to the sole include a dovetail type assembly or equivalent, in particular whose axis extends parallel to the crimping axis.
- the fixing means rigid removable from each die to the tool holder include an assembly screw for each die, and preference of the die support block (s) to the tool holder - in particular a screw extending parallel to the axis of crimping cooperating with a corresponding thread fitted in the tool holder.
- the matrix support block (s) and / or support block anvil (s) includes means for continuously adjusting the position of a first and / or a second impression of crimping in the direction of translation of the tool holder.
- the automatic means of feeding include means for adjusting the position of the strip and therefore lugs, along the crimping axis.
- the device also includes means for continuously adjusting the position of the tool holder in relation to a slide press in the direction of translation relative to the sole.
- the invention also relates to a cassette of tools for a crimping device according to the invention.
- a cassette according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a support block for matrix (s) and anvil support block (s) associated one with the other in an autonomous assembly and adapted to be able be assembled and disassembled together with respect to the device.
- a cassette according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises in combination all or part of the characteristics described above in relation to crimping device.
- the invention also relates to a crimping device and tool cassette comprising in combination all or part of features mentioned above or below.
- the invention relates to a device for crimping in series of metal lugs on wires electrical (not shown in the figures) with sheath insulating, one end of which has been previously stripped.
- This crimping device of the so-called mini-applicator type includes a sole 1 adapted to be fixed on a fixed table of a press (not shown); a tool holder 2 of crimping adapted to be mounted integral in translation of a press slide (not shown); automatic means 3 for feeding and cutting lugs successively one by one from a strip of identical preformed metal lugs 4.
- the strip 4 is therefore formed of a string of pods linked together and which adjoin each other.
- Each terminal is intended to be compressed between at least a first crimping imprint 5 defined by at least one 6-crimping anvil fixed by sole 1, and at least one second imprint of crimping 7 defined by at least one matrix of crimping 8 carried by the tool holder 2.
- the first 5 and second (s) 7 crimping impressions have forms which are conjugated and adapted to crimp a terminal with a wire from a terminal preformed strip 4.
- Each terminal is clamped between these footprints and around said end of the wire in a axis 9 known as crimping axis 9, corresponding to the direction wire placed between these prints.
- the tool holder 2 is assembled integral in translation relative to the slide by means 10 conventional assemblies, but which include means 11 for continuously adjusting the position of the tool holder 2 relative to the slide in the direction of translation of the tool holder 2 and of the slide relative to at sole 1 and at the press table.
- These means 11 of adjustment include for example two wedges with spans inclined in contact, displaced relative to each other perpendicular to the axis of translation of the tool holder 2 thanks to a knurled screw and whose thread cooperates with a thread on one of the shims and rests on the other wedge or on a part secured to the tool holder 2 (figure 4).
- These adjustment means 11 allow a continuous adjustment of the vertical position of the tool holder 2 compared to the press slide, and therefore allow adapt and adjust this position according to the press slide stroke, from bottom dead center of the press, and relative positions between the imprints 5, 7, i.e. between each matrix 8 and the anvil 6 corresponding.
- Tool holder 2 is guided in translation vertical along the axis of the press with respect to the sole 1 thanks to lateral stirrups 12 fixedly mounted on the sole 1 and surrounding and guiding the tool holder 2. From in this way, the tool holder 2 is guided in translation by relative to sole 1 so as to be moved with the slide movements in alternative movements approximation and separation from the sole 1.
- the tool holder 2 carries a control finger 13, suitable for pressing and moving in translation a rod 14 of a control distributor of a cylinder 15 of the automatic feeding means 3.
- the finger 13 actuates the control rod 14 when the tool holder 2 is in the separated position, that is to say in the high position, thus controlling the supply a portion of tape 4.
- Each matrix 8 is formed of a plate associated vertical and carried by the same block 16 support die (s), and the tool holder 2 comprises a housing 17 of reception of a block 16 matrix support (s).
- Block 16 support of matrix (s) is globally parallelepiped, like the receiving housing 17.
- a screw 18 is associated to block 16 matrix support (s) so as to present a through thread that can be engaged in a thread an integral part in translation of the tool holder 2, by example the control finger 13 in the embodiment shown in Figure 4.
- Each anvil 6 is carried by the same block 19 anvil support (s) and the sole 1 defines a base 20 for receiving such a block 19 support anvil (s).
- Block 16 matrix support (s) and block 19 anvil support (s), forming a single set of crimping for crimping a terminal model, i.e. with first 5 and second fingerprints fingerprints 7 of crimping of conjugated forms, are associated with each other in an autonomous assembly 21, said tool cassette 21, adapted so that these blocks 16, 19 can be assembled and disassembled together with respect to device, i.e. respectively with respect to tool holder 2 and relative to the sole 1.
- block 16 support for matrix (s) and block 19 support anvil (s) are associated with each other by two columns assembly 22 extending parallel to the direction of translation of the tool holder 2, that is to say vertically.
- the assembly columns 22 are engaged in corresponding holes in the support block 19 anvil (s), so as to be rigidly fixed to this block 19, at least when the latter is in the fixed position and mounted on the base 20 of the sole 1.
- the lower end of each column 22 is engaged in a hole in block 19 and fixed by a screw 23 with a head the end of which is screwed into a thread in the column 22, this screw 23 being engaged by the lower end drilling the block 19 anvil support (s).
- Block 16 matrix support (s) includes a vertical through hole for guiding the block of matrix support with respect to each column 22. This drilling is provided in a square 24 extending horizontally backwards.
- the upper end of each column 22 is provided with a head 25 limiting the relative translational movement in the direction of the upward spacing of the block 16 matrix support (s), relative to block 19 anvil support (s), at a value greater than or equal to that of their maximum spacing defined between the tool holder 2 and the sole 1, when these two blocks 16, 19 are fixed there. So when the crimping cassette 21 carrying the crimping tools is removed from the device ( Figures 1, 7 and 8), both columns 22 hold the two blocks 16, 19 together preventing their relative disassembly.
- Block 19 anvil support (s) is simply assembled and removably attached to the base 20 the sole 1 by a dovetail type assembly, axis parallel to the crimping axis 9.
- the block 19 anvil support includes a male dovetail 26 and the base 20 includes a female dovetail 27.
- This assembly 26, 27 with dovetail makes it possible to place each anvil 6 and each matrix 8 in the vertical plane containing the crimping axis 9 and the vertical axis of translation 28 of the tool holder 2 relative to the sole 1.
- a transverse axial locking screw of the assembly to dovetail can be provided.
- Position in translation of the set of the crimping cassette 21 along the axis 9 of crimping is determined by the rear faces 29 of the block 16 support of matrix (s) and 30 of block 19 support anvil (s) which come into abutment and bear against vertical faces of the tool holder 2, respectively of a support 31 of the stirrups 12 secured to the sole 1.
- the block 16 matrix support (s) has a horizontal upper face 52 abutting and bearing against a horizontal face of the housing 17 of the tool holder 2.
- the anvil support block 19 rests on the sole 1.
- the screw 18 for removable fixing of the block 16 of matrix support extends parallel to the axis of crimping 9 and makes it possible to block the entire cassette 21 for crimping in the mounted position relative to the device.
- Block 16 matrix support (s) includes further means 32, 33 for continuously adjusting the position of at least one crimping die 8 and therefore a first crimping imprint, depending on the direction vertical translation of the tool holder 2.
- These means 32, 33 have a wedge 32 with inclined reach coming to the contact of the upper end of the die 8, and a screw 33 with knurled head whose thread is engaged in a thread through shim 32 to determine the transverse position with respect to the matrix 8.
- the position of the shim 32 is modified relative to matrix 8, which has the effect of moving vertically in translation this matrix 8 relative to the block 16 matrix support.
- the matrix 8 includes at least one oblong vertical light 34 crossed by fixing screws 35 of the dies 8 relative to the block 16 matrix support (s).
- This vertical light 34 is adapted to allow vertical adjustment in translation of the matrix 8 relative to the block 16 support of matrix (s).
- Each tool cassette 21 can comprise one or more matrices 8, for example a first die crimping the terminal around the core conductor of the wire, and a second adjacent matrix for crimping the terminal around the end of the sheath wire insulator.
- each block 19 anvil support can carry one or more anvils 6, namely by example an anvil for crimping the terminal around of the bare core of the electric wire and a second anvil for crimping the terminal around the end of the wire sheath.
- the cassette 21 also includes a device 36 making it possible to cut the strip of lugs, after its displacement transverse, for the separation of each terminal placed along the crimping axis.
- this strip cutting device can be mounted integral with the means 3 supply and therefore carried by the entire device and by the sole 1 (and not by the cassette 21).
- Dies 8 are assembled on the block 16 by one or more clamping screws 35.
- the dies 8 and fingerprints 7 can be formed by the block 16 itself in one piece shaped for this purpose.
- Anvils 6 can be assembled on block 19. In the embodiment shown, the anvils 6 and the footprints 5 are formed by block 19 itself in one only part conformed for this purpose.
- the crimping cassette 21 therefore constitutes a set of crimping tools that can be previously settled (thanks in particular to means 32, 33 of adjustment) and which is mounted and dismounted on the simply crimping with a single screw 18.
- the assembly and disassembly of each crimping cassette 21 is therefore extremely simple and fast. It is therefore possible to have as many crimping cassettes 21 as there are has models of wires to crimp on the same type of terminal, and this with a single mini-crimping device.
- the cassettes having been previously adjusted, the change of manufacturing can be carried out without additional adjustment guaranteeing consistent quality.
- Each crimping cassette 21 is advantageously provided with a location 37 allowing register or affix an identification plate model of wire and / or terminal to be crimped.
- Housing 17 for receiving block 16 matrix support (s) on the tool holder 2 and this block 16 matrix support (s), are suitable to define them a space 38 above the square 24 for the passage of upper parts of columns 22 during movements of lowering (reconciliation of impressions) of the tool holder 2.
- this space 38 is provided at the rear of block 16 and above the matrix support from square 24, so that even in position lower completely close to the two blocks 16, 19, the upper ends of the columns 22 do not exceed beyond the upper face of the block 16 support of matrix (s).
- the height of each of the 16 support blocks matrix (s), whatever the corresponding terminal model, is preferably adapted so that the height of the space 38 corresponds to the maximum possible stroke of the different models of blocks 16 matrix supports.
- the cylinder 15 of the automatic means 3 feed and cut includes a jack body 39 carried by the sole 1 and an actuating rod 40 arranged perpendicular to the crimping axis 9.
- a pawl 41 is carried by the actuating rod 40 and is adapted to train the band 4 in its movements towards the crimping axis 9 and not to drive it in direction reverse, i.e. when the end of the rod actuator 40 moves away from the crimping axis 9.
- this pawl 41 simply consists of a part in the form of a latch bolt which is anchored under the strip 4 (in each of the perforations provided for this purpose in band 4 or against each terminal) when it gets closer of the crimping pin 9 and can slide under the strip 4 in reverse.
- the actuating rod 40 also carries a part 42 which extends parallel to the body 39 of the cylinder on the front side of the crimping device and brings to its free end, a screw 43 for the end of travel stop of the actuating rod 40.
- This stop screw 43 is worn by tapping an axis perpendicular to the axis of crimp 9 formed in the part 42, and the end of this stop screw 43 abuts against a bearing surface 44 integral with the jack body 39.
- this screw 43 limits the displacement stroke of the actuating rod 40 towards the crimping axis 9.
- the position of this limit stop, and therefore the amplitude of the advance of the strip 4 that is to say the length of the portion of strip fed perpendicular to the axis of crimping 9, at each cycle, when the tool holder returns to the high position so that this length corresponds exactly to a terminal.
- the stop screw 43 is placed opposite a body side 39 cylinder and towards the front of the device so that it is easily accessible. In addition, the transverse dimensions of the device is minimized.
- the part 44 forming a bearing against which the screw 43 comes into abutment is mounted like the cylinder body 39 on a support 45 which is itself assembled at the sole 1 by screws.
- the position of the support 45 bearing all of the automatic feeding means 3 is determined in relation to sole 1 thanks to a rib 47 of the support 45 engaged in a groove 48 of the sole 1, arranged parallel to the crimping axis and the dovetail assembly of the cassette 21.
- the rib 47 and the groove 48 form means for adjusting the position of the strip along the crimping axis 9.
- a strip guide plate 49 is provided above the strip for prevent it from being raised when the pawl 41 is moved, and to ensure its guidance between the imprints 5, 7.
- a rotary button 46 allows the plate to be lifted slightly 49 for the introduction of strip 4.
- Each cassette 21 is advantageously also equipped with a plate 50 forming a support stop vertical in close crimping position and a stripper 51 (shown only in Figure 2).
- automatic means 3 strip feed can be pneumatic and / or mechanical and / or electromechanical, can be arranged on the left or right or towards the rear of the tool holder 2.
- Other means of removable attachment of the dies 8 and / or anvils 6 and / or each cassette 21 of crimping can be provided.
- the crimping device according to the invention can be of semi-automatic type, that is to say implemented by an operator who places manually the end of the wire intended to receive the terminal between the fingerprints before operating the press. Alternatively, it can also be fully automated, the end of the wire being placed between the imprints by a automation such as a robot.
